Great read

This was a great read, not quite what I'm used to a little bit tame, but still very enjoyable. It took a while for things to build. But it was still non stop action. I wasn't sure in what direction it was heading but could tell who was unknown pretty much straight away. There was some nasty characters but then some lovely totally opposites. The storyline was.good and kept you entertained, just took a while to get to the main point of the reason for the box. A great read and I would recommend.

This is a grittier read than other YA books I’ve read, and I think it would actually get teenage lads reading. The banter between Danny and his mate Kevin feels natural, not forced or made up as in some stories. Danny’s angst as a teenager is almost palpable in parts, especially when he’s dreaming about his dad. So when he finds a chest and discovers it’s magic of course he tries out the spells. Wouldn’t you? Then his dark side begins to show. But was that side of him dormant waiting to be released, or did the evil in the chest manifest itself in Danny. I really enjoyed this story, felt sympathy for some of the characters, loathing for others. I recommend it grown up young adults, and anyone who enjoys a bit of fantasy in their reading.
