I’m a single dad, focused on taking care of my high-functioning son and running Boston’s Burgers and Brews, the family pub. When the girl next door, the one who’s always been there to lend a helping hand, shows interest in a firefighter friend, I’m determined to help her get her man—even if it means going undercover as her boyfriend. Problem is, her flirtation raises something in me—something a little farther south. It isn’t long before this single dad on tap turns into a single dad on top—but falling for her just might be catastrophic.
When the guy next door, the same one I’ve been crushing on forever, mistakes my interest in a hot firefighter, I want to set him straight, until he begins worshipping every single inch of my curvy body. Yeah, only a fool would put a stop to that, and I don’t consider myself a fool—until the lines between what’s real and what isn’t begin to blur, and I almost forget Jesse is helping me to attract another man. How the hell am I going to get myself out of this mess? Then again, who says I have to?
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Cathryn Fox is a wife, mom, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. She loves dogs, sunny weather, anything chocolate (she never says no to a brownie) pizza and red wine. Cathryn lives in beautiful Nova Scotia with her husband, who is convinced he can turn her into a mixed martial arts fan. When not writing, Cathryn can be found Skyping with her son living in Seattle (could he have moved any farther away?) shopping with her daughter in the city, watching a big action flick with her husband, or hanging out and laughing with friends.
Nice little single dad story. The characters were pretty good. No real complaints but nothing that knocked my socks off either. The first book in this series was def better in my opinion.
My God, does he have to be so damn good looking? What did I do in a past lifetime to live next to the hottest guy on the planet—one who had a baby with my best friend and has never seen me as anything more than the chubby girl next door? He might be every girl’s type, but I’ve come to terms with the fact that I’m not his.
Life's just too damn short and my kindle too full to continue with this!
Oh I'm a curvy girl so I MUST be insecure about it and not appreciate my curves. Because we ALL KNOW guys only like THIN girls (They like boobs girl. Period) and she's been on enough "fad diets" to know her jiggle isn't going anywhere. I'm super smart and quiet so I'm a book nerd and no one ever pays any attention to me. My best guy friend who I grew up next door to is so hot and I've secretly had a crush on him 4eva and I'm totally a super honest person but not about that, duh. So of course when my super rich, beautiful and vivacious best friend (who I never ever understood why she was friends with me for) got together with my super hot friend Jesse (who I ogle and shoot heart eyes at from afar) in college I encouraged them to be happy together. OF COURSE. And naturally the best friend is a dick who ran off to Hollywood and is a terrible absentee mother. Boo freaking hoo. And of courssseeee she's had like one sexual experience that was crap and she didn't want the lights on because she can't allow anyone to see her jiggle. Hahahahah
Come on authors! Why must the curvy girl be insecure?! Why can't she know her worth and believe in herself? Why can't she know she's hot instead of being blind to her appeal and insecure and doubt her self worth? It's so stupid! This is why I hate reading books with curvy heroines.
Another single parent with a cute kid.... This one is a best friends to lovers trope with an adorable little boy thrown into the mix. Jesse and Olivia have grown up next door to one another and still live in those homes. When Jesse's parents passed away and he put his dreams of becoming a doctor on hold and is now running their pub. When he dropped his dream of medical school, Kylie, Lucas's mother, dropped Jesse. She ran off to Hollywood to live her dreams.
Olivia is the one who stuck around and has been helping to raise Lucas. She's always been in the background. She isn't nearly as glamorous as Kylie, who was her best friend. Now she is working for Jesse at the pub and planning on moving to CA. She's just been accepted into Stanford and her dreams are about to come true. Or are they?
Just two short months before Olivia is set to leave, she and Jesse come up with one of the worst plans possible. Unknowingly, they have some help from other people. Basically, they were set up. How long will they stick to the plan? Did I mention it was a really bad plan? It gets pretty steamy and intense at times.
Again, there isn't anything surprising in this one, but it's entertaining all the same.
This author has a formula at telling you what the character is doing vs showing you. This book is purely for smut if you go in with other expectations you’ll be disappointed.
I love that we have a midsize/chubby love interest & single dad with an autistic child. Love to see that in a book, however the “no one will love me because I’m big”cliche is a turn off for me. Coupled with “ I never felt loved in my own body until you dicked me down” is stale.
She did make her strong ,kind , family oriented and exploratory in bed. So that’s a plus. Plus the love interest genuinely cared and valued her.
Overall the steamy sex scenes were better than book 1. However there were some repeat lines.
I still think this was a good read. The ending conflict was slapped together. Some highs & some lows but honestly just here for the smut so it delivered
I enjoyed this friends to lovers was romance story. Jesse and Olivia have been friends and neighbors for years and Jesse had a son with Olivia's best friend Kylie who decided after their son was born with autism that she couldn't handle be with them. Olivia was their for her friend and his son. Olivia and Jesse worked together at his bar and over time feelings began to show but they were scared as their friendship was more important. The people around them knew they belonged together and with unknown help and some drama things happened they way they all hoped. Even though this story was predictable I really enjoyed their story.
I have mixed feelings regarding this one. I think the single dad, curvy woman, neurodiverse son were all done really well, I was fully on board. The challenges however were that the MCs thoughts were really cheesy at times, the meddling secondary characters were so blatant that it felt insincere the MCs were so clueless and his ex felt like visiting a bad version of high school. That said I liked the couple and the family they created, I like anyone I’m sure was shipping them but a not great reader experience also negatively impacted the experience. I will keep reading but I wish these interconnected standalones weren’t quite so standalone

This is a fun, entertaining read. Jesse and Olivia are interesting, complex, relatable, intriguing, wounded, strong, entertaining characters. I enjoyed their romance and the path it took to get to their HEA. These two are fun to spend time with. The secondary characters – especially Lucas – added to the fabric of the story and my enjoyment. The story is easy to read and get into.
I enjoyed the audio version of this book and the narrators.
Feel like it left us hanging. Like it needed an epilogue to tie things up more. Explain more that happened with that horrible Kylie. She is just evil and all about herself. And more explained about how things are a little down the road for Jesse and Olivia and Lucas. Funny how much meddling was involved lol but was like a romcom movie.
Great read. Olivia is the girl with a crush that goes back years and finally gets to live it out by being tricked by people in her life to bring her and Jesse together. Their chemistry is off the charts and keeps you turn each page.
This was a sweet and cute friends to lover/fake relationship story. Our two main characters have been dancing around each other forever, they need a little push for the circumstances to get them together. Lots of steam and chemistry and lots of love and heart <3
Cathryn Fox is a master story teller and Single Dad On Tap is an amazing story that will capture you from page one and keep you intrigued until the last page.
Less 1 star because; I know a conflict is sometimes a must have in books, but if it's going to show the immaturity of the characters then it's better not to have one.
I like that this story is about a single dad and friends to lovers, all in one. No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings Characters is well described and developed in to realistic personalities. Easy to read and good connection between the main characters
This book was slightly better than book 1, in my opinion. A tad heavy on the sex, which you rarely hear from me. Extremely graphic and explicit, very naughty. Still, loved the story.
Ahh, I think I'm in love with Jesse. I really loved the way that autism, in this book, is handled. It was a beautiful relationship between father and son, and then to add in Olivia, sweet ending.
