What happens when revenge turns deadly?

Kenzie Armstrong’s life couldn’t get any better. She has loving parents, a career she adores, and a great new relationship with her next-door neighbor Ryan, a man who is working his way into her heart at the speed of light.

As an operative with Elite Force Security, Ryan Saltarelli does whatever it takes to protect others. He never expected he’d have to protect the woman he is falling in love with.

But when a man sworn to exact vengeance against her retired FBI agent father kidnaps Kenzie, it’ll take all of Ryan’s skills to keep her alive.

But will he find her in time?

His To Protect is the second book in USA Today best selling author Christina Tetreault’s Elite Force Security Series. While it can easily be read as a standalone story, you'll likely enjoy reading the other books, too.

**Dull. Lifeless. Utterly BORING.**

I tried to make myself give an extra star to this story for at least not resorting to trashy sex or foul language to get ahead. The only sex scenes occur in the background (discussed narratively), and there's literally only one f-word used. I really wanted to give it props, but I couldn't even do THAT. I needed more than this to win me over and it simply wasn't there; it was nothing but this disappointing overabundance of blandness that overtook everything else.

The characters were such generic, forgettable nobodies with non-existent personalities that even now, after having JUST finished this book a mere hour ago, their names escape me. I'm not even lying. They were underdeveloped, unfunny, and uninteresting cardboard cutouts. It didn't help that there were unnecessary POV's from secondary characters to deal with as well, which were disruptive to an already bogged down story.

The plot was the very essence of mundaneness with nothing even REMOTELY interesting going on. And anything that COULD have been interesting was either rushed to an uneventful conclusion or fizzled out on its own like a bad fuse on a firecracker. Drama, angst, tension, thrills. This book had NONE of these things, and any version of them that it DID have failed spectacularly.

Dialogues were unrealistic and inorganic. Characters expressed themselves in the same manner, so perfect in their speech patterns without flaw or an obvious difference of genders. Even the "romance" itself was so very cringe, drab, unconvincing, and soulless. Laughably enough, the abrupt ending was the perfect cherry on top to the lazy "love story." It literally just....stopped.

By far the worst feature of this story was its pace. The flow of this thing was so painfully sluggish, thanks mostly to the author's rather bizarre fixation on detailing the most useless pieces of information absolutely everywhere, (often in the middle of a damn conversations). It was exhausting learning about things that added NOTHING to the story. Lots of telling without showing, a lot of blah, blah, blah to the point where I was thinking, "Just stop it already."

So no, this book didn't do it for me at ALL and I'm all too grateful to finally remove it from my Kindle and my life with the utmost haste. Btw, I STILL can't remember their damn names...

Two Books in 2 Days!

To say I couldn't put this book down until I read the very last page really doesn't say enough about the quality of this book! I could show you pictures of me in my PJ's still with my hair and house in disarray and hungry dogs gnawing at my legs. That might give you a better idea of how enthralled I am with Christina Tetreault's second book in the Elite Force Security series, His to Protect. But I think instead I will tell you as soon as I submitted the review for book 1, I started reading book 2 and finished it a day later. Two Books in two days, I think is the best recommendation I can give you! The only reason I have not started book 3 is that I can't find one in my Kindle store yet. But when it is available I will pick it up! Christina Tetreault has earned a permanent place on my bookshelf, next to Nora Roberts as best Romatic Suspense author !

Very much enjoyed this book. Good story and decent characters.

Ryan and kenzie are next door neighbours who start dating. We get to follow their budding relationship and all the excitement that goes with that. We are also shown there is danger afoot by a dark man who is desperate for revenge against Kenzie’s dad, an ex FBI agent, who put him behind bars. Can Ryan save his new girlfriend before they’ve even got started.

I did enjoy this book. For me it was a slow burner. I’ll be honest and say I did want things to move at a faster pace, but that is personal preference. I would have liked to have gone a bit more in depth to the characters, I feel we only really skimmed the surface. The action part was when things really took off and I very much enjoyed it. I’d hoped there would be a bit more involved in the rescue scenes, with things going awry and kept the story going a bit longer. It was over to quickly for me.
A very good read and would still recommend 🙂

This was such great book. Kenzie and Ryan are neighbors that are falling in love. Ryan works as a security consultant for Elite Security. Kenzie is targeted and kidnapped by a man who has a grudge against her father a retired FBI agent. Page turning story with mystery, suspense and action. The story moved at a really great pace. Good story. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is the 1st book I've read written by Christina Tetreault; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

I loved the chemistry between the characters.

Loved It

I liked the characters in this book. So many times a love story gets a little sappy. The characters in this book didn’t do that. Their relationship developed slower, which made it infinitely more romantic. The characters were interesting and genuinely likable. I loved the way the rest of the story went. Even though an HEA was inevitable I just wanted to know how it happened. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Hot buns

Kenzie has noticed Ryan. He works security which will come in handy when he needs to protect her.
Why do they always go for the daughter? Go for the pops, the one who done you wrong.

I digress. At times funny and steamy with a large dollop of suspense and and action.
And smart characters always make me happy.

Thoughts: I read both the first and this, the second book in this series. They seem to be the only two out so far. I hope Ms. Tetreault writes more for this series as it is really good with this group of people who work and play together so well. The characters are great and the plots are too. Recommended

I enjoy build up and establishment of the characters and their history together before getting to the meat of the story. But, FFS, when the kidnapping alluded to in the description of the book doesn't happen until the last ten pages??? That's RIDICULOUS!!! I kept reading, thinking "come on, get to the actual story...."

Kenzie and Ryan's standalone story in the Elite Force Protectors series was attention-grabbing and a great reading experience. Filled with heart-stopping situations and suspense, hot chemistry and more, these two were likeable characters that I could relate to.
