Hades Academy #2

Hades Academy: Second Semester

Rate this book
Welcome back to Hades...

So after nearly dying in an attack from Chaos, discovering the truth about Raines, and taking an immense risk to protect him, I’m back for second semester—and just supposed to act like everything’s normal.

Except I have a huge secret. And the school’s on probation. Oh, and my hot professor might be trying to kill me.

Now I have to save my own skin while hoping my powers finally manifest themselves, and maybe find out what happened to my mom, and where my demon heritage came from in the first place. Basically, nothing is going to be normal ever again.

Oh, and to protect Raines’s and my secret, I’m going to have to do something absolutely insane.

Yeah—I might have a boyfriend now.

Hades Academy: Second Semester is a magic academy NA paranormal fantasy novel with a slow-burn romance and a kickass heroine. Although there are love triangles, this is NOT a reverse harem. Rated 18+ for strong language.

Well I still liked this but it didn't roll on too well from the first book. First off the characters seemed different and where has Chaos gone? I loved the banter and the harry potter references. I am loving the lessons they are well thought out and fit the world perfectly. I wonder what will happen next.

I liked this as much as the first book. I really like how Nova is strong in her own way but self doubts herself like a normal person. She knows she's not perfect and doesn't pretend to be. One thing is the thing with Teddy.. He had a mini temper tantrum (understandable), but that was barely touched on. It was just thrown in there and barely touched. Raine was just as annoying BUT he did seem to get better by the end of the book. I look forward to seeing more of her heritage and her history. I know she desperately wants to know who her mother is. I'm beginning to think maybe the bad ass professor she likes, the female, might be her mother or know her mother, or even her aunt! I like that she has a best friend but would like her to venture out in the friend department a little more. Overall, good series and unique in the way that these demons are quite different.

Annnd that’s gonna be it for me. The overall plot is still interesting but everything in between just don’t match. I won’t spoil it but the ending gave me major villain-twirling-his-mustache vibes. It was so dang corny.

The overall story felt so haphazardly put together, too, like there really wasn’t clear direction. Just a bunch of events slapped together and voilà! It’s a complete story (not). The writing is pretty basic, too. That’s not a bad thing necessarily but a lot of events really left me wanting more (not in an intrigue kind of way but more I don’t feel anything about this big revelation/character and I definitely should kind of way). I just really wanted more from the character interactions. It just felt like we really skimmed the surface many times before moving on to something else before we could really delve deeper. It was frustrating.

The dysfunction in the relationship between Nova and Raines gives me quite pleasant feelings. It's just that comforting. For me, the story fell apart about three quarters of the way through. I ended up taking a break before finally finishing this title. The end is a mild cliffhanger (I hope). Otherwise it's a good story.

Action-packed. Entertaining. Haunting. Scary. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Wonderful characters.

I received a copy of this book as a gift from the author. This is my honest review.

Really good fun!

I am loving these stories. So much fun. Just the right balance of humour, terror, snark, and intrigue. I really love the academical side of it to. Such a lot of great thought has been put into the world building aspect. I love it.

Great YA novel

These books are hard to put down! I appreciate the college setting and the different take on heaven/hell's purpose. Now if only the main characters would get together! And I only found 2 grammatical errors!

I enjoyed reading this book AGAIN for the second time. I haven't read this in over a year and I still found it enjoyable. I absolutely think Nova and Morgan make a great team. Teddy is fun especially when he and Nova talk about their Latin class.

This YA for NA Academy series is quite a slick one: you think you know where that ol' trope's going only for it to play a wild card on you. Like Nova's famed three-card monte, you're never quite sure if you're going to predict it right. Tropes make this a light comfort-read, the twists give it edge.

So Nova and Raines escaped death-by-Chaos: yay! So did Teddy: also yay! So did Wilder: ...yay? Whelp, after that particular confrontation, Nova's not so sure that her hottie prof is worth the hassle of getting worked up about. Plus she's kinda stuck with Raines' secret that no magical binding can stop him from worrying about. Add in the new term's classes, Morgan's incessant gossip, Camilla's snottiness, an odd request from a handsome Irishman, oh, and Hades Academy being on probation following the whole invasion-by-Chaos? Yeah, this term really could be hell...

Nova's as great a deadpan protagonist as ever, carrying on with the straight-talk, snark, and swearing that makes her a bit more upper end YA/NA appropriate. Morgan is the perfect 4D friend, while Raines takes the role of flip-floppy teenage brooder that female characters usually get dealt (albeit more gruff, natch).

I love that we get those scenes of professors teaching and explaining the world - it could be an info-dump, but it doesn't feel like it because the context just works. It opens up a whole load more intrigues about the supernatural world and how Nova fits in... Or not.

That cliffhanger tho.

I want to say it's silly teenage stuff, but it's so darn fun reading a teen who doesn't give a flying asterisk and knows how crazy the situations are. Really looking forward to book 3!

This is the 2nd book in the series and it just keeps getting better!
So many twists and turns in this one. Secrets are coming out now and I am hooked already and badly needing my next fix of this.
The plot and story line are keeping me gripped.
Love the characters and how well they are written.

The start of the second semester at Hades Academy finds Nova soulbound to Raines, and trying to adjust to feeling what he feels - and vice versa. In an effort to divert everyone's attention from their soul binding, she agrees to become Collum's fake girlfriend, getting a reprieve from the pure-bloods' bullying. But danger is always there. What are Wilder's plans for Nova? Is he friend or foe? Will she finally find out her origins? And what will happen to her bond with Raines?

An excellent, amazing, mindblowing addition to the "Hades Academy" series!!! The ending left me heartbroken, and I know it sounds trite, but I can't wait to get my hands on the next book!

This was exciting from the get go. I could not put it down. After surviving the Chaos attack first semester, Nova plunged into her second semester full force. She was keeping secrets from her best friends but that could not be helped. Things with her and Raine were at best civil. Then Collum decided he needed a "girlfriend" and off she went. This was good cover while she dried to discover what Wilder was up to. Things came to a head and Wilder tried to kill her. Teddy came to her rescue. Now things were semi back to normal and she is about to receive the biggest news of her life. Can not wait to read the next book.

This book continues seamlessly from book one and was just as good. It was well written and the story and characters are well developed. I loved seeing the characters develop and change over the books and watching their dynamics alter and progress. The story was excellent. It was action packed from beginning to end. There was suspense, intrigue, emotion, hot chemistry and romance. I’d highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next book in the series!!

NB: This book ends on a cliffhanger.

Nova starts out her semester adjusting to her bond to Raines while trying to figure out what Professor Frost wants with her. Learning more about her demon powers and about the demonic hierarchy fascinate Nova and she gets deeper and deeper into the mysteries at Hades Academy. Meanwhile, she gets to know Collum, another of the Infernal Trio, better. I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.

I love this series so much! The second installment in the Hades Academy series is just as good as the first. Nova's back and she is as spunky as ever. Together with Raines and her friends, Nova is faced with threats to herself and her school. She handles these threats with the sassiness I have come to love in her character. I am only sorry I read it so quickly, but I cannot wait for the next book in the series. I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Second semester finds Nova soul bonded to Raines and still seeking to find her parentage. Hopefully her exestasis exams will reveal this information. Intrigue and danger follow Nova as she preps for her exams and deals with the many changes in her life. A suspenseful and riveting thriller that does end in a little cliffhanger. I have really enjoyed the first two books and I am anxiously awaiting the next!

What a second book!

This book continued on right where book one ended. I really loved Nova and Raines and I hope we get to see that flourish into something much more romantic in the future books. This instalment had answers we're been waiting for and even more questions. I love what Abbie has created and will now have to go grab book three! This series just keeps getting better and better!

This series is really growing on me. THANK YOU for not being just another reverse harem. Also, while I typically love the romance aspect of these kind of books, the plot here is so captivating and legit gave me the feels. That being said the romance does leave me wanting more, I mean I love me some angst man!

Overall though can’t wait for the next book!
