Following on from Trojan Gene, Jack & Ela have been separated - Jack as a Vector Trooper & Ela joining the Resistance. Neither of them knowing what the other is doing at first, there is uncertainty and confusion that follows their actions throughout the first half of the book.

Jack being in Vector is a new opportunity for the reader to see the world of the enemy - and to be able to see, that for the most part - the enemy are just normal individuals following orders from up high.

Jack is lied to and misled to get him to be in Vector & it can sometimes be hard to know who to trust - a theme that comes through throughout the book.

A great read - fast paced & engaging. A very good second book, picking up the story, adding more and not being a "filler" book. Looking forward to the next part!

This sequel in the Trojan Gene series and the story picks up a short time after the end of the first book.

Jack is now a trained sniper in an elite group slightly separate to the VTroopers, and risks everything to pass on information to the resistance, but is also surprisingly torn in his loyalties as he sees the world from the other side and forms friendships with his comrades in his squad.

Ela is still studying and working at Humicrib, but is also working with the resistance within the City. Neither one of our star crossed lovers know how the other one is and this adds an interesting side to the story.

This story is full of tension and the author skilfully weaves all the twists and turns together for us as a reader and we get taken along on a roller coaster ride of emotions, whilst also leaving plenty of room for impending disaster to strike!! This novel has left me thinking about what will happen next and I can't wait!

The second in the Trojan Gene YA dystopian series. I really enjoyed the first novel and this continues in the same vein. There is probably enough exposition to allow you to pick this up and enjoy it as a stand-alone but I would recommend that you read the previous book (The Awakening) first. The continuing stories of sweethearts Jack and Ela, kept apart by Ela’s grandfather for the good of the resistance, are compelling, the reader enjoying the action whilst hoping that they can be reunited for a happy ending. The effective world-building carried out in the Awakening as well as the character development are put into great use here with a compelling sequel. Meg Buchanan achieves the difficult task of providing a satisfying conclusion to the story arc contained within this book whilst still whetting the appetite to find out what happens next!

Recap: Under Jacob's orders, Jack is a mole in the VTroopers and Ela is an elite recruit within the Resistance - neither one allowed to talk to the other. But the Administration know what Jacob is planning and they'll do everything in their power to stop him.

Review: Splitting Jack and Ela up added great tension to the storyline and there's a more desperate, ruthless edge to the action with a few shocking moments. Fast paced and easy to read, an intense sequel with lots of potential for upcoming disaster in book three!

A great follow up story to The Awakening. Jack is now a member of Vector on Jacob's orders, Ela is now working for the resistance. This book is very fast paced, with lots of action and intrigue. Hopefully there is more to come.
