Fr. Troadec’s best-selling series continues in this third book Toward Easter. Father uses the liturgy of the Lenten season to assist us in our daily prayer, meditation and spiritual growth.
Each of the daily meditations covered in this book includes a:
-Quote taken from Scripture, the Mass, or the Spiritual Fathers. -Meditation: A particular truth of the Faith and how it applies to us. -Prayer: Two short daily prayers for the reader to choose from. -Thoughts: Daily recollections that illustrate a profound point. -Resolution: Three simple and practical resolutions.
Anyone looking to draw closer to God through the liturgy of His Church while developing the habit of daily spiritual reading and meditation needs to read this series! It continues to be a wonderful and trusted aid for Catholics of any age or walk of life. A profoundly Catholic and truly practical guide to daily growth in holiness.
Fr. Troadec is out here with another good daily devotional for the crux of the liturgical year. I appreciate that the book also goes a week into the Easter season! The book is great for keeping overall Lenten resolutions and also has numerous good daily resolutions (although sometimes they are a little impractical). There is a nice hymn section in the back of the book as well.
Another of Fr. Troadec's excellent devotionals. Every day is written in an easy to read manner, making it a good selection for an independently read or family-read devotional. It goes one week into Eastertide (the next book in the series), so, if you find yourself unprepared for the next purchase, you have some wiggle room to find the following book.
If you read Fr. Gabriel's 'Divine Intimacy' regularly, you will find some days to be repetitious. The Mass readings follow the 1962 Missal so, of course, there is going to be many similarities in the Holy Week and Holy days. These same similarities, however, would be the same if you were to go to Mass that day.
I would recommend any of Fr. Troadec's devotional series to anyone. The end prayers, thoughts, and resolutions are great sources of daily recollection for myself. None of the readings are long. Each day is roughly a five minute read.
Such an excellent guide to use as a family, with practicable actions to take each day that are doable, such as pray a decade of the rosary for vocations, or mediate for 10 minutes on one of the Stations of the Cross. Love our SSPX priests!
This is my first read of Fr Patrick Troadec's books, but will definitely not be the last. Brief, well written considerations on a multitude of topics, with recommended reading AND some very good and practical resolutions for each day. Highly recommended.
