another sunrise, another day, another opportunity to love

Jenna

The first time my sister and I hid out in the Reynolds' barn next door I was only eight years old. For three years we would cross the freshly plowed dirt of the cornfields or push through cornstalks that blocked the moon before we were caught.

It's safe to say that my life has been difficult - one by one I've lost them all. The only person I have left to lose is myself, and my body is trying to finish the job. Now I'm all alone and heading back to the one place that ever felt like home.

Surrounded by peach orchards and cornfields I fell in love with my best friend and protector – only to lose him the night my world turn on end. I've lived without a piece of my heart for fourteen years; will my first love still hold it or have I lost him forever?

Ethan

I lost Jenna the night I declared my love for her. I lost my wife after an achingly short marriage. How many times can a man have his heart broken, before it's damaged beyond repair?

I exchanged notes with my childhood best friend through an old pickle jar in the base of an oak tree. When she lived next door my thoughts were exchanged for hers, and over time our hearts were exchanged as well.

Fourteen years later the jar has been emptied - all my thoughts removed. That damaged heart? I think it's going to be okay - because the new note at the bottom of the jar is signed “I've never stopped loving you, Jen”

This is a standalone novel with no cliffhanger.

Another wonderful read, by Charity Jackson
Hard to put down, you become so invested in the characters.
Make sure you have a box of tissues next to you. One moment you are laughing the next moment you are in tears. Loved this book as much as I did her first book Letting Go.

Wow! What can I say? This was an amazing good book. One that made me laugh and sometimes cry.
Charity Jackson done a wonderful job with this book. I found this to be one of the best books I have read this year.

Jenna and Abby are sisters and live with their mother and abusive father.
Lilly and Ethan are brother and sister and live in a loving home with parents that let the girls come over anytime they want to. The girls spend a lot of time at the Reynold's home.

One evening while Jenna was with Ethan, tragedy strikes at her home, and Jenna is sent to her Aunt and Uncle's home to live. The kids all try to keep in touch, but it doesn't work out. They each go on with their own lives.

Fast forward a few years …. Jenna has gone through a divorce and is now back in town, renting a house near where she grew up.

Ethan has been married and has lost his wife, and is now a really sad man, that doesn't care much about his life.

They finally run into each other and start being friends again, when another bad thing happens.

This is a book that comes full circle. It is good from the first page to the last explosive chapter.

Read this book. No more from me about what tragedy happens or what the other bad news is. Get this book and read it. You won't be sorry.

I just can't say enough, how great this book is.

I could have read this book in one sitting. It is that captivating! The author has you facing some pretty deep subject matter. I actually closed the book when I realized the trauma my character was going through. I had to make the decision that I could go through this with her and I am so glad I did. You fall in love with Jenna right away. I love that we see these characters grow physically and emotionally. They make mistakes and learn from them, they learn to love not just others but themselves after incredible loss. I am so glad I took the leap and read this book.

This is a sweet, touching story of childhood friends who had to deal with heart wrenching events as children, then as adults. The characters were amazing and strong. While there was a lot to the story, it didn’t feel rushed nor did it drone on...perfect pace for me. It is a clean romance with no sex or cursing. I recommend this book!

Thank you Goodreads and Charity Jackson for this free kindle edition book giveaway! I received this book a few weeks ago- but with a TBR list a mile long I finally was able to get to it!!

Now with my review: I did struggle a bit with this book in the beginning because at times it felt very repetitive and over-simplified. I think a stronger editor for this book would have made this book significantly more enjoyable.

With that being said though- I was pleasantly surprised by how much this book made me laugh- AND CRY, OH MY GOSH. If you read this book make sure you have plenty of tissues nearby!

Jenna and Becca are sisters growing up under the dark cloud of domestic abuse. Between their mother and father, bad days aren’t just filled with yelling and screaming- often when fights become physical, the young girls find themselves escaping to the sanctuary of their neighbors barn. The Reynolds barn next door becomes their solace during the darker nights, and more often than not, they are joined by the children who live in the adjoining house; Ethan who is a few years older and Lilly who is also Jennas best friend. Years of abuse bring the four of them closer together, but after a teenaged Ethan confesses his love for Jenna, a terrible tragedy tears them apart for years, if not for good.
After a decade apart, Jenna finds herself coming around full circle- back to the same plot of land that took her family- and her heart. This book goes back and forth between his and her story, with revelations of love, loss and forgiveness. Will Jenna and Ethan be able to move forward and fall in Love again after all of the heartbreak they have endured? Or will the past only tear their future apart even further?

Honestly this book had such a solid foundation!! Just a few tweaks in editing and I probably would have given it 5-stars.

I take my hat off to Charity Jackson for such a beautiful story.
This is a story of for children, two sisters and a sister and brother. They grow up in the county and one family is hiding a terrible secret. Jenna and Abby are sisters who live with their parents and Lilly and Ethan live in the across from the Michael’s with their parents.
The Reynolds always welcomes Jenna and Abby over for play dates, church, swimming in the creek and just about anything the the four kids are happy doing together. Ethan is the protector of the girls, especially Jenna. When he guesses the secret the Michael’s family has, he makes sure to really keep watch.
He confesses his love to Jenna when she is fifteen and that same night, tragedy strikes the Michael’s family that will change not only the family, but the whole town.
Jenna has moved to San Diego, California with her aunt and uncle. She finishes high school and goes off to college, always remembering her childhood friends. She meets and marries and things don’t work the way she imagined. She packs up and move back to her childhood hometown.
This book made me smile, laugh and cry. I went through a lot of tissues. It’s a full circle story and it’s beautifully written. It’s been one of my favorite books of this year that I’ve read. I highly recommend.

This is Jenna and Ethan's love story. Jenna's father is an alcoholic, and abusive toward her mother. Many nights, she and her sister escape to the hay loft of a neighbor's barn. On a night when she left alone, her father killed her mother and sister, and then himself. She left with an uncle for California. No one ever measured up to Ethan, until she met Justin. After they marry, he blames her for their inability to have children, and then she finds out she has breast cancer. Ethan eventually moves on, then his wife is killed by a drunk driver. He wallows in his grief, eventually finding his way out to get his act together. And Jenna moves back. And finds the pickle jar. Did she wait too long to begin treatment for her cancer? Can she let go of her fear long enough to let Ethan back in? I'm not sure that I can write a review that's good enough for this book. It's entirely different from Letting Go, and yet just as moving. The characters are real people with real life emotions, battling real life issues.

Another Sunrise.

If you enjoy a story full of high drama and emotion this is for you. Told as a dual first person narrative it follows the lives of Ethan and Jenna.

As the story begins we meet Ethan and Jenna as children growing in friendship that blossoms into love but before they have a chance to explore their feelings properly tragedy strikes and the two are torn apart.

The two follow separate paths experiencing both happiness and further tragedy. When finally Jenna decides to return to her hometown to bury her demons they meet again. Will the way ahead be straightforward and can they return to their previous relationship or has time taken too much of a toll?

An emotional roller coaster of a ride.

Honest review

This book is touching, incredible, deep, and so much more. There are some really, really, REALLY deep... hard... and emotional parts of this story that hurt my heart, but also so much beauty that I am truly glad I read it. Life has never been easy where the main female character has been concerned and parts of it get much, MUCH worse before it even has a chance at getting better. Bring the tissues, your whole soul, and walk the journey.

Thank you to Charity Jackson and Goodreads.com I won this book in a Giveaway.

Breathtaking, beautifully written and just a great all around book. I felt that I was a stakeholder in the entire story and she brought me along for the journey. With so many comparable circumstances the author paid homage to the everyone in the story and make the point of living ! I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend it.

I loved the chemistry of the main characters in this book. I felt very invested in their story and wanted everything good for them in the end. A thing I really liked about this book was that it showed that life is not always sunshine and rainbows. Hardships are inevitable and fear is often a tough barrier to overcome. My only complaint was that I wanted to see more of what their life together looked like in the epilogue.

Beacon of hope

An amazing story filled with second chances at both love and life. Jenna thought she had lost everything, so she returned to the only place she knew. Back in her childhood hometown she has to face her past and future all at once. Ethan has to find a reason to live and move on. What happens when childhood sweethearts reunite?

Another sunrise, another day, another opportunity to love.

Another Sunrise is a great second chance romance story. The characters are well defined and realistic. The storyline is well written and flows nicely, with tragedy, sorrow, loss, abandonment, secrets, and a second chance for romance with a childhood love.

I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.

Oh, this book takes your emotions on a rollercoaster! There's some heart wrenching moments and happy moments and everything in between. Both characters suffer hardships in their years apart from each other, but it just brings them closer together when they reunite.

This was a great read and I'd love to read more from this author in the future.

Another Sunrise is an interesting story written by the author Charity Jackson. Jenna Michaels didn't have a loved and secured childhood. Her father was a drunk man who used to beat his mother. Jenna and her sister Becca used to sneak out the window of their house and hide in the Reynolds' barn so they could avoid listening to all the screaming, yelling and cursing. Reynolds' kids Lilly and Ethan were good friends of Jenna and Becca.

Jenna even started liking Ethan as they reached their teen years and even Ethan liked her. One day, when Jenna's father was denied the raise he was expecting, her life turned upside down. Grab a copy of this book and read the story yourself to unveil the suspense.

Story is written in a very smooth flow. The twists and turns in the story made it even more enjoyable. Cover photo of the book is nice and title is according to the story. Pace of the story is fine and I didn't felt it too rushed or too slow. Jackson's writing style is mind blowing and I really enjoy her writing. Story has a nice ending with no cliffhanger. Looking forward to read more of Jackson's work in the future.

A bit too sad

The ending was the best part. Dragged for me and found myself skimming through chapters from mid way through until the epilogue.

I received Another Sunrise as part of a Goodreads giveaway.

Jenna Michaels and her best friend's older brother, Ethan Reynolds, are on the cusp of a storybook romance when tragedy strikes, separating the young couple. Fifteen years later, Jenna finds herself back in her childhood hometown haunted by ghosts both old and new. Ethan, however, is still there, the calm and steadying presence he always was, though not without losses of his own. They begin to rekindle what was once lost, but Jenna is hiding a life-changing secret that threatens her future with Ethan. Can both overcome their fears and seize their second chance?

This was a sweet story, albeit one that skirts more serious issues like domestic violence and serious illness. This story handles it better than most, but I think it still falls into the romance novel trope of glossing over these matters. It's SO hard to get the gravity/complexity of these situations right, and I'm not sure I've ever seen it done well in a standard size romance. As such, I'd almost rather authors keep things light rather than try (and inevitably fail) to wrestle with these difficult issues. Both leads also seemed a bit Mary Sue-ish--they were both so perfect, I didn't find them terribly interesting. An OK way to pass the time, but not a universe I'm dying to reenter again.
