each person will feel things their own way. each person will hurt the only way they know how. will love… the only way they've been taught to love. not everyone will see things the way you do. feel things the way you do. and you can't force your beliefs on people either because that's not love. that's not having compassion for other people. we all have our own right to see the world with our own eyes, therefore, understanding is key. and I don't mean saying it, saying you understand someone without putting yourself in their shoes. without respecting their views. you have to really know yourself and your environment to understand why people are the way they are. you have to go through enough pain to keep your heart open. to be compassionate towards other people. understanding is key and not everyone will understand you and that's okay. but the point is, to remember how all of us are different and try to understand that not all of us are meant to be the same. and you should never believe you understand it all because believe me, there will always be something to learn. there will always be something that will take your breath away. something that will make you question everything—your own beliefs and your own way of thinking. people, things and places, like life, are always evolving and you must evolve with them… if you ever want a fair shot in accepting your flaws and the flaws of other people. and before I finish, I just want you to know... that the beauty of it all is this, the more you understand people the better you will understand yourself. from the known and to the depths of your soul... people will always shape you. all that you are is all you've experienced with them. and dont ever forget... that the people you love will always have a piece of your heart. they will always be with you… no matter what.
Robert M. Drake books that are all poems in this collection are amazing and relatable to anyone regardless what book you read in the VOL.1. collection. I bought all of them and got through them all so quickly as they were full of humour, laugher, tears and all sort of relatable emotions.
•What I feel when I don’t want to feel •What I really mean when I say good- bye. •What I see when my eyes are shut. •What I say when I’m not saying a damn thing. •What I mean when I say I miss you, love you and fuck you. •What I say to myself when I need to calm the fuck down.
I have read all of them. I would say to definitely at least read one of the books from the collection as the small poems can be easily related to anyone and give good reflection and thought despite the ups and down in life.
It felt more like an advice book rather than a poetry collection. Very simple, and straightforward. However, sometimes I do like to be challenged with the imagery, etc. and this collection didn't do that for me as much.
I really want to give this 1 star considering there are recycled poems from the other book. But the poems that weren't re-published were actually pretty decent.
This collection is made of simply and minimally written poems that hit softly at first, and harder as you go on. "Bumped Into" is perhaps my favorite. My heart had softened and melted after finishing the book in one sitting... After all...
I do really like Robert M Drakes poetry, however this one was slightly lacking for my compared to his other works. I’d give this one 3.75 stars! There are definitely some that I dog eared to go back to in the future and re read. Overall would recommend reading this one but not my fav by him! 💕
I have a soft spot for Drake and really wanted to give this book 5 stars, but it was just a little too repetitive. Then again that might be how love and the falling out of it feels
I liked the message of a lot of his poems, but I just didn't feel what the poems were trying to make me feel. They all kind of felt basic and sometimes somewhat fake deep.
When I first read this book it was such a new release, it was not even listed on Goodreads yet. Therefore I’m coming back almost a month later to review it after seeing it listed now. I don’t remember the palms exactly but I always read Robert’s books more than once. And I always think that they are wonderful!
