Rule #2: You belong to your Sir.

Penny
I haven’t submitted for anyone in ten years.
Dominating clients has always made me feel safer, even if it isn’t what gets me off.
But for a million dollars, I can pretend. I can play the role of fashion god Felix Renaldi’s spoiled, pampered kitten.
Only I’m not a wide-eyed submissive anymore. I’ve learned to how to protect myself, made myself hard—the Ice Queen of Elysium.
I can and will shield my heart, even from the one man who makes it flutter.

Felix
I’ve known Penny since she was eighteen.
I’ve watched her blossom into the exquisite creature she is today.
A hustler who bows to no one. A princess with expensive tastes. A brat in need of a firm hand.
An escort who cannot refuse my offer. Four fashion weeks, just her and me. New York. London. Milan. Paris. One million dollars. One chance to show her she can hustle and submit, speak her mind and kneel at my feet.
She denies it, but I know what she craves.
And I’m going to give it to her.
I’m going to make her scream.

Liz is a Canadian author who grew up in the Middle East. She has a degree in Bioarchaeology from Western University, and when she isn't writing about her own snarky characters, she is reading about other people’s snarky characters, babying her herb garden, loitering on social media, or taking care of her furbabies.

Liz dabbles in both paranormal and contemporary erotic romance. Her paranormals are usually dark and angsty, and her contemporaries are stress-free smutfests, but you'll find both riddled with feels. Most of all, she loves writing realistic characters in fantastical settings.

The Quick and Dirty:  This season’s hottest erotic romance: obscenely decadent or decadently obscene? Both! Felix and Penny’s scorching hot love story is an absolute MUST READ for anyone who loves kink with their romance.

Penny, a former sub, is now the most sought after Domme at New York’s elite underground kink club, Elysium. Felix Renaldi, a long-time friend, club client and legendary fashion designer has known Penny for years and has fallen in love with her. When he makes her an offer to sub for him during a month of fashion weeks to the tune of a million dollars, Penny is reluctant to mess with their relationship but can’t pass it up. At first, Penny separates her attraction to Felix from the job she’s being paid to do but as their scenes become increasingly involved, Felix consistently proves to her that he’s exactly what she needs. As her walls start to crumble, Felix builds her back up and their relationship becomes more than just one between a sub and her Dom.

Sometimes I get images in my head of the feel of a book, the same way you might attribute an image in your mind to a song. This book felt like sipping a glass of aged liquor on a velvet chaise longue while wearing nothing but a silk robe, a collar, and a pair of sky high Louboutins. It was kink but refined; depraved but sumptuous. The chemistry was off the charts but don’t be fooled into thinking this book was all heat and no substance. Penny and Felix’s story is at its core one of love and mutual respect; learning to be true to oneself and being willing to let someone love whatever that is. As always, I am in awe of Liz Meldon’s ability to craft a story that is as compelling as it is 🔥🔥🔥. If you’re at all into kink, this is an easy one-clicker!

Some favorite lines:
“Today I had her trust. Tomorrow I would give her the world.”

“And I intended to pamper and spoil and fuck her exactly how she deserved, because kink was to be enjoyed in all circumstances, not merely gritted through with one eye trained on the clock.”

“Passion sizzled through my veins, desire in my marrow, love thundering in my chest as my hands raked through her hair and my submissive melted beneath me, molded to me.”

“I love you, you stubborn brat.”

This is book two in the Unbowed Novels, if you read book 1 you'll know this is Penny's story, Belle's friend from Elysium, a fetish club where people can live their wildest fantasies in a judgment-free zone. And If you haven't (please do, it's an amazing book).

Penny is the story of Penny and Felix, they have been friends for a long time now (by my rough count it would be close to 10 years). He is a Dom who has been interested in Penny since the very beginning but when she was free from the dom she had at the time, she stopped submitting and started working as a Domme so instead of pursuing her, Felix decided to get close to her by any means possible, becoming her friend instead. A long time has passed since then and Felix has decided that it's time, he has heard her talk about everything and knows she is not happy with her life, she is not happy with her work and she is not happy with her sexual encounters. He knows he can help her and he is going to, he offers her a month abroad, going through fashion weeks in NYC, London, Milan and Paris, working as his sub. To this, Penny is unsure, she is afraid to harm their relationship but money talks and she agrees.

I have to say I loved the way Liz show us this side of Penny, even if she is refined and sophisticated, she still knows how to bow and kneel for her Dom. I loved the development of the story, seeing Penny's growth and also a little bit of Felix backstory. The conflict was beautifully displayed and solved. I loved that the story wasn't just about them, but was also about the people they had contact with (vs Belle story where you had only truly two characters). I loved Felix and loved how much he loved Penny, giving her everything she needed. Penny on the other hand... well I have to be honest here, I truly dislike her a lot, I can't explain myself fully without giving away spoilers but in summary, the story left me with a feeling that Penny didn't deserve Felix at all. He didn't ask anything from her, just to be honest and real, the only moment he asked something she shoved a WWIII under his nose and ran away, they made up when HE retracted himself and let her do whatever she wanted. That's the reason I gave the book 3 stars.

Still, I love Liz's writing, she is amazing and can't wait to read her next book!

5/5 - Rule #2: You belong to your Sir.

Good grief Felix and Penny are FIRE!!

This book... I have been waiting, it feels like, forever to read; and I wasn’t disappointed. The taste of Penny and Felix at the end of Belle (Unbowed 1) left me panting for their story. They had so much chemistry in a short amount of text I was hooked.

In Penny (Unbowed 2), their chemistry and heat became an inferno. The type the consumes all the oxygen in a room and you’re suffocating on the emotions told through this book.

Felix, a sexual Dominant, offers Penny, a sexual Domme $1M for 4 weeks to be his submissive while he travels to four cities showcasing his fashion line at fashion week (he’s also a very famous fashion designer, eek!)

Penny has apprehension at first because she began her escort career at Elysium as a submissive. Bad stuff happened to her - off page - and she vowed never to be controlled again. BUT, she’s known Felix for 10 years and she needs the money to finally be free. She agrees.

Felix has been in love with Penny since the moment he saw her, with another Dom. He’s carries a torch for her and now he’s determined to prove his love... but first they both have some internal baggage to work through.

🔥 One of my favorite quotes: “This man was the devil — and he knew just how to damn me.”

This book is HOT. This book is emotional. This book forces you to confront different types of how love is expressed. I loved every word of this story. That being said here are a few things to consider:

>> The specific "kink" in this book is humiliation, so if that isn't your scene, maybe this isn't the book for you.

>> There is a reference to assault that might be triggering -- please know your own limits going forward.

This book is truly top notch, romance and BDSM.

This is the second novel of the Unbowed Series, following Penny and Felix.
I do have to say I really enjoyed this book. With 2 big personalities, I was afraid there would be the usual massive amount of bickering and fighting, but I was positively surprised how compassionate and outspoken, especially Felix, our protagonists were.
It did touch on some triggering content, that was handled IMO very respectfully which is always a plus.
Also, the sexy stuff was well written and comparing it to Belle very distinct and different. Making this a clearly different read to Belle, I would not be likely to mix these 2 books up

Special seduction
4.5
The story is a pretty amazing mix of romance and eroticism, mixing domination with love in sometimes disturbing ways. I found some passages difficult to read due to the humiliation suffered by Penny, even if it was understandable in the story, it was still hard to read, especially because of the empathy for Penny, who develops as you read the story. I hesitated between 4 and 5 stars, but even if it is sometimes difficult, the story is very well written from start to finish.
Penelope (Penny) is a dominatrix who lets herself be tempted by Felix’s proposal: he takes her with him to Europe for fashion week and his shows but she has to be his submissive, which does not suit her. Felix succeeds in convincing her by highlighting the confidence they have in each other, but also $ 1 million. He never told her, but he loves her and he doesn't know what made her barricade her heart, what holds her back.
For Félix, this is a difficult bet: with this relationship, he can win her, or he can lose everything, even their friendship.
For Penelope, this is a challenge facing her past from which she has been protecting herself for 10 years.

Liz Meldon is back again with another wonderfully enticing erotic romance novel.

Penny and Felix were a delight to delve into. They have been friends for almost ten years and working at dominants at the club Elysium. When Felix proposes an offer for Penny to be his submissive for a mere million dollars or so, she can't refuse his offer.

Their friendship was what made this story so great for me. They had this trust and knowledge of each other already. So when their relationship was taken to another level, they were comfortable with one another.

Meldon, as shown by the first book in this series, Belle, is brilliant at being able to be explicit enough to douse the reader in their erotic want, but give enough romance and sweetness behind the characters to have you loving them more for than just their kink.

I for one have become to look forward to her stories in this series because it's different and thrilling from all other erotic romances I've read. With it being well written and developed, I think there's always room to dive further into these characters that have made a place for themselves in my heart.

I loved everything about this well written, erotic romance but most particularly the characters. I admired Felix’s perseverance and passion for Penny along with his efforts to convince her that she’s not the Ice Queen dominatrix she’s reputed to be. I enjoyed Penny’s bratty nature, her confidence and her ability to put people in their place with just a look or some clever words. I hadn’t anticipated though, the reason her character had developed such an aloof, cold, protective nature. I loved them as a couple and thoroughly enjoyed their challenging journey to HEA as well as the behind the scenes view of the antics and chaos of Fashion Week. There’s mystery, drama, suspense, angst, snark, humour, plus several seriously steamy encounters with elements of BDSM. I actually gasped out loud on a couple of occasions from shock and surprise.

Erotic consensual kinky emotional

PENNY
is the second book in Liz Meldon's UNBOWED NOVELS. As with her first, Belle, PENNY explores the relationship between an escort and a Dominant who hires her services for a period of time. This book is delightfully decadent, raw, dirty, emotional, kinky, erotic and one totally unputdownable read. What I really enjoyed about Penny was the fact that Ms Meldon ensured that every act of depravity and kink was entirely consensual by both parties involved. Nothing was forced or coerced.

Penny Bishop works as an escort and a Domme at the underground kink club Elysium. For the last ten years she has built up a friendship with one of its regular patrons and Dom, Felix Renaldi, a world reknown fashion designer. Felix is in love with Penny, and makes her an offer that she can't refuse ... be his submissive for the four weeks of the upcoming fashion show season and be paid a million dollars.

This book was such a great read. Penny is a natural born sub, and she really shines when she is playing this role. She's a brat, but one that Felix certainly knows how to handle in his dominant, kinky and albeit, romantic way. Yes, some of the scenes were humiliating for Penny to undertake, but they were definitely hot for both her and Felix. This book isn't only about the kink though, it is also about the relationship between Penny and Felix. Secrets are revealed about both, giving a better understanding of who they are and how they came to be what hey are.

I have read many BDSM books, but this one really touched me. It was about Penny's journey into accepting herself for who she is. Felix showed such love and support towards Penny as he guided her. He also learns a few truths about himself along the way.

A wonderful read and one that would be thoroughly enjoyed by those who are fans of some very hot kink.

Felix and Penny are great big scorching flames wrapped up in more emotion than they know what to do with. Okay, more emotion than Penny knows what to do with. Felix is a man who knows exactly what he wants, he just has to break down a few walls to get there. I don't pretend to know anything about Penny's particular brand of kink, and I can't say that I understand it, but that didn't keep me from thoroughly enjoying this couple's journey. Penny and Felix are just so good together, and the chemistry is off the charts. These two had my heart from the beginning - Felix with his determination, and Penny with her spunk. Both have some demons to overcome, and we even get a bit of mystery as someone works to tear them apart, but my absolute favorite thing about this one was how the romance progressed bit by bit, the way Felix kept chipping away at the walls Penny had built up to protect herself. Oh, wait! That was pretty much the whole thing from start to finish, so I guess that says it all, doesn't it? This second Unbowed novel gives us a fabulous couple, lots of steamy goodness with a bit of kink, and a romance with heart, and Liz Meldon wraps it all up in a pretty little bow that's impossible to put down. I don't know if the author has more books lined up for this world, but if any future couples are as terrific as this one, I'm all in.

Felix has been in love with Penny for years and finally decided to make her his by offering her a million dollars to be his Sub for one month. Plus he gets his chance to win her over. Both are Doms but she was once a Sub until something happened that changed everything. This is an intense, erotic story about two people whose captivating journey takes us into the sexy world of Sub/Dom and BDSM. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Even though this was the second book in the series you didn’t need to read the first one to follow the story. Felix is a Dom and the head is his family’s fashion house. He has been in love with Penny for 10 years but he is finally ready to make his move to make her his. Penny first joined the club as a submissive but after an incident she is now a Dom as well. When Felix gives her an offer to join him as his submissive for a month while he travels for fashion month. He plans on showing Penny how well he knows her and what she needs. Penny doesn’t trust easily and has built a wall that not many can penetrate. When she starts to feel something more towards Felix she feels she needs to make sure she keeps if professional. Will Felix be able to convince Penny to give them a chance. I received a Arc copy of this book and am volunteering to leave my review.

Second in the series. I enjoyed it just as much as the first one. Penny had her different tastes and Felix was such a gentle counterpart for most of the time. He knew what he wanted out of the relationship from the start and worked to achieve that. Watching Penny move from defensive to more intimate was worth the read. I recommend this story as long as you like submission/domination and hot steamy scenes.

This is only my second outing reading a Liz Meldon book and what I will say they will definitely by a 3rd!

Penny's story may hold triggers for some people and even if you have read a BDSM book in the past being put in a dog cage although very pretty and comfortable may not be for you!

But if you like your BDSM that is slightly on the gritty side then you will love Felix and Penny's story. I love the way the story unfolds about fashion designer Felix who has gone to the same BDSM club for years and from the minute Penny arrived at 18 he always watched her from a distance but something happened to Penny when she first joined the club that turned her from a submissive into a Dom training other submissive's. 10 years on Felix and Penny are sort of friends but he knows its time to up his game and so he offers Penny a contract she can't turn down 1 million dollars to be his submissive for month and travel with him to all the fashion weeks over Europe - Felix will find out about the sadness behind Penny's eyes and Penny will try and remember why she prefers to be a Dom now and not a Sub. But Felix has surrounded his self with people that are not happy that Penny is in his life and will do anything to sabotage they their relationship and the life style they choice.

Can these two find a happy balance and when Felix finds out what haunts Penny can he be the Dom she needs to be able to feel alive.

In the words of Penny!

I had a bit of a rough start with this book. Not for any bad reason. In fact, it’s almost too well written for my peace of mind. My problem was as simple as: what really works for Penny, what gets her going, makes my skin crawl. That made several of their scenes really tough for me to read. What kept me going was the amazing connection I could feel between Penny and Felix. That, and the dark angsty emotions they bring to the surface in each other. At times, it almost felt like a little too much “navel gazing”, but I absolutely adore that both characters are capable of recognizing their own faults and apologizing when they’ve hurt one another. I’m a bit sad that it’s over already. I not done with these characters; I want to know even more.

Why has this author been missing from my life? I have been very remiss in my choices it appears!
Penny is a well written, intense, character driven book which explores love, patience, repressed pasts, a world which challenges norms, and the glittering world of high fashion.
Penny and Felix are beautifully drawn and explored characters, whose relationship is given depth and interest through the intelligent dialogue and thoughtfulness with which they are created. I absolutely love them both.
This has been my first read by Liz Meldon and I am incredibly pleased to see that I have many treats in store from her library.

Liz Meldon has proven in her Unbowed Novels that she has total mastery of erotic romance. As for Penny, Book 2, in the series, it’s quite simple: if you liked Belle (Book 1, separately reviewed), you’ll love this book. If you haven’t read Book 1 then you’ve missed something great if you like this genre at all, though these books can be read on a total standalone basis. I’ll make it even simpler: if you’ve any interest in erotic romance then you simply must get Penny. It’s that good (and, of course, highly recommended).

I've been looking forward to Penny's story ever since meeting her in Belle. Liz Meldon definitely didn't disappoint! Penny is such a complex multi-faceted character. So much vulnerability hidden behind the tough Domme facade. Her past trauma made it impossible for her to truly be herself. Felix, on the other hand, is Penny's safe haven (even when she doesn't know it). I couldn't help but fall in love with Felix. His love for Penny is obvious from the beginning and the lengths he is willing to go to to give her just what he thinks she needs are truly astonishing! This emotional journey of self-discovery and love is also incredibly steamy and those scenes are very well crafted, not to mention smoking hot! This beautiful story unfolds in the glamorous world of high fashion. We get to travel to the most exciting cities in the world alongside the characters! Liz Meldon did an amazing job recreating the buzz, excitement and hard work that goes into Fashion Week! A touch of suspense and drama plus a satisfying epilogue and cameos from beloved characters from Belle make this book into a definite must-read!

Ms. Meldon has authored another emotional novel.

Penny has not had an easy life, whereas, Felix grew up with a silver spoon. But, can everything be rosy for Felix? Will Penny always struggle? Her walls are many inches deep and tall! Can Felix chip away? Is Penny worth it?

This is a can't put down novel. Get a cup or glass of your favorite beverage and settle in. I hope this is not the end for Penny or Felix.... I definitely need to know more! I need more time with them!

I cannot express how much I love this series and this couple. Liz Meldon writes such amazing consensual kink, but the balance of her plots and what the characters are struggling with makes it even better. Penny is broken, but in a way that she doesn't want to let anyone in. She'll do whatever it takes to guard her heart, including pushing away the one man who might be able to break down her walls. We find out Felix has wanted to be with Penny for ten years, and will do whatever it takes to show her what a relationship with him could be.
The sexual tension and explosive chemistry notwithstanding, the fashion week(s) setting is such a fun part of the book! The inclusion of two insane personal assistants made for some dramatic scenes with Penny showing who's boss. I really can't put into words how much I love Penny; she is so relatable. She is the type of girl who picks herself up by the bootstraps and keeps going, despite a painful past. She got kicked, but she didn't stay down. She decided to become the one in control. (If you read the synopsis you'll see that she is Elysium's resident Domme.) But this book shows her internal struggle between wanting to stay on top to protect herself, and submitting which is what she actually loves. And Felix is there to guide and help her along the way! Felix loves to spoil her and humiliate her the way he knows she likes. I won't say any more because you have to read it for yourself! But P.S. there is also a cute French bulldog involved.

A fantastic and very well written kink romance

This is my first read by Liz and I absolutely LOVED it. She pulled me in from the first page and enveloped me in Penny and Felix’s world until the end. Liz wrote two characters, both scarred and flawed, that help heal one another. The plot flowed naturally, never rushed. Honestly, this is one of the best Dom/sub plotted books I have read in awhile and I am excited to dive into another one of Liz’s works, thanks to this read.

No means no! BDSM stories can be tetalating or over the top. This had both and content can be offensive if you're not into the over the top. The biggest lesson the author did an excellent job of conveying is 1. Consensual 2. No means no. Overall quality of writing was good. Lots of steam. No cliffhanger or cheating and you get a happy ending. Enjoy

First time reader of this author and wow. She has definitely been added to my list of favorites. This book took me by surprise in the best of ways - story, characters, emotions. What a great redemption story that shows the true power of love for the characters involved. I cried, I cringed, I feel in love with them and you will too.

This is a really well written Dom/sub story. It’s not quick the author shows all the emotion and time it takes to earn someone’s trust. The plot and the characters are brilliant. An amazing read.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is the second book in the series. It's Penny and Felix's story. When Felix offers a plan to Penny to be his submissive for a million dollars. Heck I am in.
