Will Erin and Jason find their "forever homes" in each other's hearts?
As the director of PAWS, the “Pearson Animal Welfare Society,” Erin Pearson stays busy helping stray and surrendered pets find the “forever homes” they deserve. The small-town animal shelter was the life’s work of her beloved grandmother, but when a million-dollar donation to a new building project is embezzled, Erin fears the scandal will be the end of PAWS.
The drive up from San Antonio to the beautiful Texas Hill County to adopt a dog for his daughter is no more than an inconvenience for financial advisor and single dad, Jason Blaine. That is, until he meets the lovely director of PAWS. When Erin later asks for his help in tracking down the consultant who made off with the donation, Jason couldn’t say no even if he wanted to. Erin is warm and approachable… everything his late wife Valerie wasn’t. But Jason is sure that Valerie’s wealthy parents won’t hesitate to sue for custody of their granddaughter if he starts dating again and not devoting every spare minute to being a dad.
Will Erin and Jason track down the missing million in time to save PAWS and her family’s good name? Caught between the fear of losing his little girl and the hope of a promising new romance, will Jason allow Erin to rescue him, too, even though he only has two legs instead of four?
Rescuing the Single Dad is book #1 in the clean contemporary romance series, PAWS for Romance. Book #2, Catering to Love is coming soon.
I enjoy writing sweet contemporary romance, where love triumphs over the busy lives and multitude of problems we face every day. The first four books in my series, PAWS for Romance, are available now.

🐈🐕🐾 MY REVIEW 🐈🐕🐾 Rescuing the Single Dad is book 1 in the PAWS for Romance series.I loved all the characters and how they supported each other, and especially enjoyed the romance that developed between Jason and Erin. There was lots of action, keeping the story moving. The romance grew believably throughout of the story. I fell in love with Mattie as much as I did Jason and Erin. You can't help but fall in love with all the fur babies and all of Erin's family. I can not wait to read the rest of the books in this series.
I LOVED, LOVED this book it was awesome I could not put it down. It was my first time reading a book of Kadee McDonald's and she did not disappoint. Her story and character building were amazing she made you feel like you were a part of the story and the action. Jason and Erin were made for each other. It's a story of a single Dad romance. Jason's looking for a dog for his daughter and Erin runs the animal shelter PAW's. I really loved this story and if you LOVE single DAD romance stories than this is the book for you! I can't wait for more from this author and this series.

Nothing beats a book where the people have flaws and feel more natural, mistakes happen, their family drives you crazy and there are pets!! I loved Erin and Jason as well as the wee cutie Maddie, Erin's family intrigue you with how diverse the are and you get to know them enough to want to know more about them. There is plenty to keep you hooked from a budding romance, stolen money, laughs, threats and great character and lovable animals!

This is a really sweet story and the first time I have read anything by this author, it won’t be the last time though. This author has a lovely writing style that drew me into the story and had me invested in not only the dogs but the characters as well. Who can ignore or dislike a book that has dogs in it?? I know I can’t! This is an adorable cute story that’s a must read for anyone who enjoys reading a good clean romance.

The story itself was good. But for me, the best part was that I was not frustrated by grammatical errors, spelling errors, usage errors that I have become accustomed to, even in books in print these days, even books that supposedly have an editor.
There was a mystery, but it was not a murder mystery. I know that murders do happened, and all too often, but there are other kinds of crimes, and it was good to have something else happen. The characters are all believable, and they are people who I would like to know.
An interesting, fairly fast-moving story with sympathetic characters and a bit of mystery thrown in. And if you love animals, this is an inspiring book about a shelter finding forever homes for abandoned dogs & cats. At first I wondered about Maddie, Jason's daughter. Only six, she seems to rule the roost -- and her father. Happily, she's portrayed as mostly likeable, not an empress.
A great story full of family loyalty, affection, pets & a mystery. Where is the conman who siphoned off the donation? The little girl adds to the fun in the story. The brother's military bearing, secretiveness & grumpiness would make another great story.
If Only I could write as well as this author! The most heartwarming book I’ve read in a long time. Great family, and the best pets, although sometimes mischievous. The source was love of all things. You will love this book
What a wonderful book to begin the PAWS series! Little Maddie, Jason's daughter is such a delight. Erin, the director of PAWS pet rescue center, is also one of seven Pearson siblings. I can't wait to read more about this close knit family.
Easy, enjoyable read. Kept my attention and focus. Enjoyed the characters. Seemed liked normal everyday people and problems. Will be looking for more books by this author.
Rescuing the Single Dad is a heartwarming and uplifting romance that perfectly captures the beauty of second chances, family bonds, and the healing power of love. Erin’s devotion to PAWS and her determination to honor her grandmother’s legacy make her an instantly endearing and inspiring heroine. Jason, a devoted single father still navigating grief and responsibility, brings emotional depth and authenticity that makes his journey especially moving.
The connection between Erin and Jason develops naturally, filled with tenderness, vulnerability, and a quiet sense of hope that feels genuine and deeply satisfying. Their romance unfolds at a perfect pace, allowing readers to truly invest in their emotional growth and healing.
The mystery of the missing donation adds just enough suspense to keep the story engaging without ever taking away from the heartfelt romance at its core. Warm, comforting, and emotionally rewarding, Rescuing the Single Dad is a beautiful feel-good story about trust, resilience, and finding love when you least expect it.
Rescuing the Single Dad: I loved all the animals and how well the family business was run. They do well matching families with the different animals. Then a father came in to adopt a dog for his daughter he didn't realize the extent you have to go through to adopt a dog for Maddie. Jason took the application with him but the beauty behind the count he could forget. She intrigued him. It was a wonderful story!
Little did Erin know that owning an animal shelter would bring such anxiety and fear. Yet, when the door opened one day, it seemed that a breath of fresh air walked in. However, when the unexpected happened, Erin's hopes and dreams came crashing down. Would life ever be the same again? Sit back and enjoy this beautiful wholesome story. You won't be disappointed.
Nice to read a clean romance book with such delightful characters. Nothing warns the heart more than a little kid with her first puppy. Running an animal rescue isn't for the faint of heart. Having a sexy widower showing interest is an added complication. I enjoyed this book and hope you will to.
A sweet story of finding love , caring for animals in a shelter and finding forever homes for them. The stopping of a thief from causing untold harm. The love of family and friends.
I know this is fiction but it was a little too far fetched. Who has 1 million dollars stolen and doesn’t involve the police. Also, why was it called “Rescuing the Single Dad” when he was the one doing all the rescuing? Didn’t make sense.
I really enjoyed this sweet dog rescue romance set right in my backyard in the Texas Hill Country! This had adorable dogs, a sweet romance between widower and single dad Jason and Erin, who runs the dog rescue, and a mystery to solve as well! 5/5 stars.
It's a short book, so that's nice. I'm in animal rescue so I had high hopes. It's just an ok book. Storyline moves fast, sometimes feeling like a robot wrote it. Word choices are just a little off, dialogue is stilted.
I finished it but won't be back for the rest of the series.
