Each of us can point to someone who makes life complicated. It could be a coworker, a family member, or even a spouse. Sometimes it's easy to let circumstances like this control our thoughts, words, and actions. We react, rather than act . . . and find ourselves frustrated at ourselves and the situation. But does this have to be the way it is? One woman of the Bible shows us that there is a better way. The way of wisdom. The way of hope. The way of Jesus. In this six-week Bible study, journey along with Abigail as she uses her influence in two men's lives with different results. See how the empowerment of the Holy Spirit can help you deal with difficult people . . . without becoming difficult yourself!

A very thought provoking and convicting little book full of great wisdom and truth! I know I will always remember truths from this book and challenge myself as I face difficult people and situations in life!
This has been a wonderful, in-depth Bible study. I love the focus on God's word, historical contexts given, and practical applications that are reinforced with verses from other books of the Bible. I started this study not knowing what to do about a difficult relationship, but through prayer and studying God's word, I now have a better idea of what God expects me to do in those difficult situations. I'm also more at peace and learning to trust God's plan for us all.
The book is fast paced with long devotions (too long for me to do in one sitting at least) so my Bible study group took 2 days to complete each 1 marked out in the book, eventually taking 12 weeks to finish the prescribed 6 weeks. We were totally fine with this, and I would recommend it to anyone who's intimidated by the length of each devotion.
I recommend this book to any Christian who has a difficult relationship in their life... so all Christians. 😄
I thought that studying Abigail would be only about dealing with foolish people. But we're all foolish now and then. Good study about how Abigail handled her husband and David wisely. The activities aren't just shallow exercises. They really ask tough questions. Lots of scriptures to read and use for wisdom. A little forced in some places like scripture didn't really support her point, and some of the best ideas were just mentioned in her writing or found in the activities but weren't explored or demonstrated. Approaching a difficult person at the right time with the right attitude needs to be demonstrated. I loved week 2 day 2 and the activity on putting 1st Cor 13: 1-3 into your own modern words. I had forgotten about some of the scriptures mentioned. Now, I will use them as wise ways to deal with people with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Nabal may have suffered from NPD, as well as other Biblical characters. Wise words such as how gentle words can persuade others and dispell wrath still work with narcissists today as they did in Abigail's time. I also was convicted and encouraged by week 6 day 4, pg. 103. I think God has given me a difficult, NPD-filled life in order to make me trust Him, see myself as I am, become discerning and apply scriptures. This is the first author I have read that suggests suffering is for learning and godliness, even in a difficult marriage.
I really like Nancy. I listen to her on the radio whenever I can and feel like she is a really godly woman of God. I read this book with a group of 3 women in a wkly Bible study. I never had read anything on Abigail before and felt like the author extracted quite a lot within this study. We all enjoyed it and hope to read another of her Bible study books.
What a wonderful book on dealing with difficult people in one's life. I have always enjoyed anything by Nancy DeMoss. And this didn't disappoint either. Well done.
