I could say a lot of very positive things about Henry Miller. I could say some very negative things about Henry Miller. I would never say his work or life were boring. Yet this book makes them seem so.

What Jay Martin has to say that's interesting could be cut down to 5 pages, the rest reads like a long unreliable and monotonous recounting of Henry Miller’s life. Please look elsewhere for a worthwhile biography of Henry Miller!

Excellent, if uncritical, biography of the controversial author, written when Miller was still alive.

Jay Martin paints a vivid portrait of Miller's life, with a gripping narrative that immerses the reader in the multicolored light of Miller's imagination.

This was recommended to me originally by a friend who said he wasn't interested in Miller's work, but found the man himself fascinating.
