Another Round was a short very sweet story about a dangerous man existing with tremendous guilt and a young naïve mafia princess whose father Nick a powerful mob boss asked him to be her bodyguard. Nick and Andy's relationship goes back many years to before Evie was born. I was so excited when I realized Nick and Shae who are Evie's parents already have a set of books which I definitely plan to read. Now back to Andy and Evie, they were great together and I loved how their attraction was immediate but they became friends first. Overall it was a very enjoyable story with plenty of sexy times but I just wish we had more outside influences. Andy was really yummy OTT and J/P and I would have loved to see more of that side of him. The Epilogues were so sweet and my favorite way to end a story.

FYI - I received an ARC after beta-reading the first version.
OM/YW romance
H - He was j/p BUT there weren’t many j/p scenes due to the story not having many j/p opportunities and not due to the H. The H was an adoring, possessive and faithful alpha. He’s large, muscular, tough and a very skilled bodyguard. He was hired by the h’s dad (a mafia boss) to protect her. (The H had worked for her dad in the past.)
h - She was a very sheltered mafia princess and a college student. Though young and a virgin, and perhaps slightly immature in the preface, she didn’t seem immature once the H was protecting her. She was upfront about her desire for the H and never deviated from that. She listened to the H’s counsel regarding her safety, wasn’t argumentative nor was she a bitch. She was faithful to the H and didn’t play immature games. I think a lot of you will like her.
First person POV with POV primarily from the H. The h’s POV was in the preface and an epilogue.
sex - Open door and steamy! (Their first scene together happened because he was jealous. It was hot and I freaking LOVED it!!

Some might not like- The H was hesitant to be with the h due to the age difference in the beginning. (He wanted her right away though.) The h made the initial overtures and openly expressed her interest in the H.
HEA with epilogues
I love Nikki Belaire’s H’s as they’re pretty much the personification of the perfect j/p H. I love how utterly adoring and non-abusive (& of course possessive) they are and yet to everyone else, they’re ruthless bad-asses. Throw in a likable h and viola! It’s book magic for me, haha!

I have mixed feelings about Another Round. It was an addictive read, a quick read I finished in no time at all, and it certainly had me reading until the end. However, I was never as invested in it as I had hoped to be. There was something missing from this one, and it prevented me from loving it.
One of the things that was missing for me was the mob aspect of the story. I went in expecting it, but it was very much in the background. I love a good mob story and was hoping we would get more than we did. Don’t get me wrong, it made this a unique read in that way, but I had wanted a wee bit more.
Another thing that got me was my lack of understanding of the references made to other characters and their stories. There was enough information to fill in the blanks, but I still felt like I was missing something. I believe this is best read in addition to having read the Surviving Absolution series, with this being a bonus of sorts, as I think knowing more about characters and past events would have given me a better connection with those in this story and what happened.
Nevertheless, although I did not connect in the way I had hoped, this was great for a quick read.

Andy is the kind of hero we all dream about: dominant and protective, a little damaged from wounds no one can see, but once his heart is breached there ain’t nothing going to stop him from loving his woman with his entire body and soul. And man, does he fall hard for Evie. He tries to resist. After all, she’s a mob boss’s daughter, naive and sheltered—although fierce and feisty, brimming with sometimes reckless bravado—and he’s old enough to be her father.
But love won’t denied and it’s more powerful than one bullheaded man’s stubbornness.
Most of the story is told from his POV, so we get to know Evie from his eyes. She’s brimming with life and laughter and draws him out of his dull, grey existence. He’s existing, not living until Evie awakens his heart. I LOOOVED how he claims Evie. And that she gives him an irreplaceable gift, forging a connection and bond that is unique and beautiful.
And to wrap up this awesomely sweet and smexy and sizzling story: the epilogues were also heartwarming and satisfying.

He wants to claim the h in the good ol' alpha boy way, but circumstances keep him from doing so the second he meets her (like he wants to). His age, her age, her maturity level, his coarseness, and a certain Big Bad compete with his desire to take and keep her all for himself. Will he jump in, and if he does, will he survive to tell about it?
This is a quick, hot read where we see old friends (who stay true to form) and watch a curmudgeon transform into leading man material.
5 swoony stars, because I read it straight through without even getting up to refill my drink.

Wow! Evie and Andy are so cute!
A mafia princess and a mercenary, he has a job to do and she is just supposed to get away from the life and make one of her own and learn along the way.
A dark and painful past meets a bright and vibrant future. She brings him out of his shell and he falls in love while doing it. Bring in picnics, strawberry picking, and a baseball game witha dog adoption its amazingly sweet and warm hearted. I absolutely loved this story, my first of nikki's and now I need to go back and read nick's story!

** New to me author
I absolutely enjoyed this story. The age gap wasn't so horrific where you want to know what the he** is going on. This book is different because we are getting Andy's voice, which is nice. I love him, and he is a beautiful character. The past he has is heartbreaking, and Evie is mature enough to handle it. Nikki did an excellent job bringing this book together, and the story flows seamlessly. I highly recommend this story.

I don’t have a single thing to say about this story that is not positive!! My first read by Nikki and I’ve already downloaded most of her back-list because of it!!
The story is short but not lacking. I was attracted to the age-gap trope and it delivered. I’m also a sucker for bodyguard/protection romances so double win for me! I was hooked on Andy and Evie from the very start. Evie was smart about her protection and upfront about her desires. She may be a mafia princess but she didn’t play the princess card. That was refreshing and gets mad props from me! I was expecting a lot of immaturity and barely got any! Andy’s past is heartbreaking, and I am super glad that the book was (mainly) in his POV. It allowed me, as the reader, to be fully immersed and informed of his past as well as his triumph overcoming it/moving past it.
I loved this story and I can’t wait to go back and read about Nick and Shae & Gina and Max!

This is my first read of this author. This is a quick contemporary, taboo story. Andy worked for Evie's parents before she was born. He is now tasked at guarding their most prized possession. Keep her safe but let her have a little freedom.
What no one plans is that they become great friends. And then lines begin to cross. When it is all laid out on the table so to speak, their hearts are tangled. Both Andy and Evie know what they want and are willing to fight for it.
I wasn't opposed to this age gap. They didn't know each other prior to this meeting. Andy's allegiance was to her father but again, it wasn't like she grew up knowing about Andy.
Short sweet read. Not much mafia in this one. Interesting characters but a predictable story. Loved the dog!!!

Where do I even begin with how amazing this story is?! After reading about Andy in the Wine & Whiskey series, I was hoping for a book about him. And what a book it is! When Nick, Andy’s former boss, decides Evie, his daughter, needs to become somewhat independent, he sends her away to an internship with Andy as her protector. But when Andy sees her, he knows this will be a difficult job, because he wants her and she is forbidden. As you read, their interactions are sweet and steamy. Both dancing around the forbidden. Can a relationship be possible with so many outside forces wanting them apart? These two characters will dig themselves into your very heart and soul. I loved every word of this book and so will you! Truly brilliant!

She did it again!!! This author never fails to suck me in with her story telling and Another Round gave my heart lots of love, especially when I realized who Evie was.
Andy gets a call from an old boss with a job he doesn't really wants but takes anyway. When we are introduced to Evie we can see why she is probably giving her dad grey hair! LOVED how she defended her friend. Neither knew how much they would come to mean to each other....and Gus. But can they be more than a summer fling?
I loved these characters and enjoyed taking their journey with with them. The are kick a$$ epilogues that left a smile on my face.

WOW! I honestly think this is the first book by Nikki Belaire I have read, and honestly, not sure why. I love Andy and Evies story. He is lost in a past mistake, that cost him people he cared about. Evie is a light brought into his life when he is hired by his old boss to protect his daughter.
She brings him back to the land of the living when he falls in love with her, despite the age gap.
Question is, when his boss/her father finds out, do they get their HEA?

What a surprising and exciting must read! I loved Evie and Andy's story! Possessive, compassionate, determined and funny, these two will melt your heart. You'll fall in love with Gus just like I did and if you're an avid reader of Nikki Belaire's, you'll be pleasantly surprised at who Evie is. I won't say more than this as I'm not one to give spoilers.

Absolutely loved this book. This is Evie and Andy's story. Andy's past is tragic but with Evie he comes back to the land of the living. But how long will he be alive after her father Nick DeMarco finds out about them? Yes that Nick from Wine and Whiskey. Nick and Shae's daughter is Evie.

Another great read by Nikki as I love all of her books.. I was not able to put this one down as it had me from the first page.. I not want to give much away but you want to read this one.. I can't wait to see what Nikki has coming next

Another Round - Nikki Belaire
I loved reading the Surviving Absolution series. The first book by this author I read was Wine and Whiskey. Which I fell in love with. I really enjoyed getting a chance to see how the story ends with Nick and Shae's daughter Evie.
Evie was strong, determined and bullheaded. The mafia princess wanted to take over the family business after Nick stepped down. Nick wanted so much more for her then that life. He made arrangements to have a Shae's old bodyguard, Andy step in to protect Evie while she took on an internship in a new city.
Little did Andy, Evie or Nick know that Evie and Andy would find more then any of them ever bargained for.
Andy found a second chance at love. While Evie found out that the life she thought she once wanted wasn't really that at all. She found the love of her life. She found pure happiness and acceptance.
I was sure Nick was going to kill Andy for stepping in and becoming more then his babies body guard. Thank God, Shae stepped in to remind her husband of the struggle they had when they came together.
I loved how this book didn't have just a bonus epilogue, but it had an extra bonus epilogue. You were able to see how Andy and Evie got married and not only that but how their family grows in size.

DNF - Quit at 28%
First, I don't know, I didn't like the main characters enough to want to continue reading their story. The age gap was also a little disconcerting for me, I believe he was 45 and she was about 20 (without going back to double check the ages), which isn't horrendous and done all the time in the real world, but when he talks about last seeing her when she was about 6 months old to her father, it just bothered me -in a "give me creeps" kind of way. The whole thing about him being out of shape when they were jogging bothered me, too. I know it didn't say it, but it was making me think "Dad Bod", also lending another creepy factor to the story. I just can't imagine a guy who was an assassin & body guard would let himself go that much. Throwing in a few things like "love" & "mate" to show he's English & is supposed to have an accent was not helpful either, until she asked where he was from to have an accent was the only clue that it was an actual accent & not just some weird thing going on. I just felt no desire to keep reading to see where this goes.

When it comes to Alpha males Nick is the epitome of one, well at least until you count Andy. He was Shay's bodyguard a while back and now we get reintroduced to him with Nick and Shay's baby girl all grown up. She isn't a sweet little lady like her mom, more like the pistol and stubborn daddy she adores and wants to emulate. I love when authors take us through the bloodlines and bring old friends back so we know the characters. It's like saying hello to old family members or friends. In this case finding out all that has happened to Andy in his absence will just break your heart. Knowing it's Nick's baby girl won't soften the blow. Old fears and new loves, breaking the ties that bind you, growing up, it's all a part of the journey. This author does it all and sucks you right in. It's not as violent as some of her previous books but that's not always a bad thing cos she makes up for it with this emotional passionate read as she breathes life back into Andy. Great read.

She is quite the trouble maker, but really just wants to be able to protect herself and not be seen as weak. One thing leads to another and they become involved, but what will her mob boss father do when he finds out.
The characters were well written and their story was so sweet. The epilogues were the perfect ending!

Another Round is a quick and steamy read that checks all sorts of romance trope boxes, friends to lovers, mafia, older man younger woman, and more. This story tops out at 144 pages and is definitely on the short and sweet side of romance books. I loved Andy! He is a great main character that is a good blend of Alpha, Protector, Friend and Lover. The vast majority of the book takes place from his POV and you really get an appreciation of his past struggles and how his feelings for Evie feel like a fresh start and second chance at life for him.
I would have liked to see a few more POVs from Evie's perspective, just to get a little bit more info on her character. Overall though I enjoyed reading things from Andy's POV, it was a nice change since most romances are from the female POV. Nikki Belaire is a new favorite for me!

This was an enjoyable book from beginning to end. Evie is quite the feisty woman. She will do whatever it takes for her friends until one day when she goes a little to far. She ends up getting sent away to prove to her father that she can be a better person. Her father calls a buddy of his Andy to be her bodyguard but Andy doesn't expect feisty sexy Evie. Evie doesn't know what to expect when she arrives but she never expected things to happen the way that they do. Will Evie and Andy find happiness or will fate have something else in store for them? I absolutely loved these two. Some very hot sexy chemistry that was well written. An enjoyable storyline that you can get hooked into. I absolutely loved reading this one.

I loved Evie and Andy's story! When you fall you can't help who it's with and this was an unmatched matched romance. When you grow up with your father being the head of the mafia and security around you 24/7 you grow up fast, and your rebellion gets more creative. When Evie got sent to California to live in the same apartment complex as Andy, she wasn't full aware he would be her new security. Andy, didn't realize she was as beautiful as her mother and their chemistry was over the top. Andy made sure Evie was protected in more ways than one and became more infatuated with her by the minute. It was a romantic love story.

There is something to say about Nikki Belaire’s “Another Round” and that is: AMAZING!
Another Round is a sweet read between a beautiful young lady and an older man who’s been around the block a time or two.
Andy used to be her mother’s bodyguard when a rebellion against the new Mafia Dom broke out. Andy was hired to watch over Evie as she moved across the nation to work as an intern.
Evie is the daughter of said Dom. She is an innocent about what her father is or does; or so her family believes. Andy thinks Evie is convinced he is her neighbor not her bodyguard. Or does she?
I loved every moment I spent reading Another Round. It was so riveting I couldn’t set it down.

Andy is dragged out of retirement to look after Nick's daughter Evie. Figuring shes going to be a princess Andy is not prepared.
Never in a million years did Andy figure he'd fall again. Evie is temptation out of control shes as hard headed as her father, but nowhere near the life experience due to daddy's protection.
Hot and heavy, danger and excitement all rolled into this stellar Belaire sequel.
Not sure where Nikki's characters play when they aren't actively scrambling her brain, but man does she deliver!
