Restorative Circles in Schools: Building Community and Enhancing Learning is a practical guide to the use of circles in schools and other settings, as well as an in-depth exploration of circle processes. The book includes numerous stories about the way circles have been used in many diverse situations, discussion on the use of proactive, responsive and staff circles, and an overview of restorative practices, with particular emphasis on its relationship to circle processes. Note about the second edition. This edition includes several new anecdotes and minor changes to style. Thanks to IIRP Lecturer Mary Jo Hebling for her support and invaluable input.
Very good concept and I have loved implementing it. Not very interesting storytelling and kind of beats the dead horse throughout. Too many (similar) anecdotes from success stories, not enough prompts or different approaches.
Being a restorative practices trainer, this was a great book to integrate into the training for the practices. Restorative practices are a great way to develop relationships in classrooms.
Incredible information on how to build communities. I like the idea of "firm but caring" and "foster new forms of civic life." I am looking forward to practicing this in the classroom as well as in my everyday life. I am also hoping to see a big change in myself and the individuals I work with.
