I am SO HAPPY I gave this one a chance.
The story is simple enough and follows the usual themes of manga: country bumpkin comes to the big city, falls in love with her teacher, gets bullied, makes friends, gets her heart broken... there's even a love triangle!
However the ending was very unexpected and I think it is what made me rate the manga so high.
And the art! The art is amazing. Is soft and beautiful and the characters have a depth that is usually lacking in other manga.
And I LOVE Shishio Sensei. Can you tell? :P

Okay, it's cute, but, hum.... she's 15 and he's 24 AND her professor so it's really weird, even if nothing happened between them YET.

Daytime Shooting Star is a high school romance centering around the story of a teenage girl named Suzume Yosano that moves to Tokyo from a small town to reside with her uncle after her father's job transfer. Upon her arrival to the city she meets a mysterious young gentleman that helps her reach her uncle's place. Though she learns that this man is an acquaintance of her uncle's she remains skeptical of this happy go lucky guy and tries to avoid him after their first encounter... but it looks like this will be harder done than said considering he's her homeroom teacher at her new school.
Having read the entire series-all 12 volumes (which is roughly 80 chapters)-in the span of three days, there’s clearly an addictive quality to Daytime Shooting Star. And the sole reason why I think it was so compelling to read was because (dare I say it) the love triangle.
I might be the black sheep with this confession but I’ve actually never been one that disliked love triangles if done well. My biggest annoyances with the bad ones have been when A) the triangle itself was completely unnecessary and could have been avoided but was there to add unwanted drama B) it became blatantly apparent who the protagonist would choose at the end early on and/or C) the author decided to take a cop-out and villainized one party so that the lead female would alternatively get together with the seemingly “nice guy.”
Luckily, there was none of that nonsense with Daytime Shooting Star. Instead, it excelled at the push and pull aspect of these sort of romances but in balanced moderation to minimize readers’ frustration. It was also pretty obscure throughout the entire series who the heroine would eventually pick. In fact, the mystery of the outcome was this manga’s greatest charm, in my opinion.
And, most importantly, both guys were perfectly decent and rootable characters. I could totally understand and sympathize with the protagonist’s indecision and swayed feelings.
But, actually, the primary reason why this love triangle could be justified in my mind was that it felt, surprisingly, requisite. Believe it or not, Daytime Shooting Star probably wouldn’t be the same without the polygon. Both Shishio (the teacher) and Mamura (the classmate/friend) and their relationships with Suzume are essential for sparking the beginnings of her character growth and keeping the story move along. And I don’t mean the former in an anti-feminist way by any means. Suzume’s character development is very much contributed by her uncle’s and (girl) friends’ presences as well, but what she gains from the time she spends with these two men are important with her transition into womanhood. (Man, that sounds cringey. But, I promise, that it’s really not.) And once reaching that maturity, she begins to want to learn more about herself.
In addition, the two separate romances that make up this triangle were just so right up my alley. I adore the best friends into something more romances and the student-teacher relationships have always intrigued me. I find the preceding to be the most realistic of all the romance tropes in fiction, which is possibly why I was game with joining team Mamura from chapter 0. (GO, GO MAMURA!) But I also wanted to give Shishio and Suzume a fair chance because of my curiosity towards such taboo relationships. (I’ve read a good many aside from this one.) And so, because Daytime Shooting Star essentially featured the kinds of romance that interest me it was perhaps even easier for me to disregard the triangle than most others.
But, with that all having been said, I don’t think readers that despise love triangles ought to give this a chance. Owing to the fact that the romance is the very plot device that drives the story forward.
Now onto the subject of the cast. For me, the cliché romance didn’t hurt the rating of this series but rather the underdeveloped characters.
The only complex individual was the teacher, Satsuki Shishio.
They say that age is just a number and love does not have constraints, but the timing of meeting that fated someone will always be an important factor. Daytime Shooting Star plays with this motif generously, especially when dealing with Shishio and Suzume’s relationship.
With Shishio and Suzume scenes, readers can truly get a sense of the struggles and pressures a teacher would have to face when dating someone underage.
But, as I said earlier, just because he was a teacher and older didn’t make his actions correct either. He was a weak-willed individual and lacked courage when it came to confronting matters of love. In fact, he seemed almost child-like in that respect at times, which explained well why he was compatible with Suzume, who was 8 or 9 years younger than him.
It’s sad
Regardless, I felt really bad for Shishio even though I was never on his team. I don’t understand how readers could hate him.
Also, let me take a second to praise how wonderfully innocent this student-teacher relationship was portrayed. What disturbed me the most with Unteachable and other student-teacher stories I’ve read in the past were the physical aspect of their relationships. Those explicit relations could possibly be accurate portrayals of reality for all I know. But I admit that I’m a prude. Thinking about a teacher having sex with a minor simply creeped me out terribly. (I’d feel comfortable if the heroine was at least 18 or in college. But the one in this is not so.) Maybe this was more tame because this is a Japanese manga targeted towards young girls, but either way, I’m not complaining.
It wasn’t that I didn’t like the idea of Shishio and Suzume, I just happened to like Mamura more.
Daiki Mamura takes the award for the best second male lead (ever). I’m not surprised that I feel this way because I tend to fall victim of second lead syndrome rather often. Plus, it didn’t hurt that Mamura represented the bff to bf/gf romance of the triangle. He totally won me over and I couldn’t get enough of his personality and sincerity at pursuing Suzume.
Mamura is a natural tsundere, a Japanese term to describe someone that is at first cold but is actually a nice and caring person once one gets to know them.
The fact that he gets extremely shy around girls is just so cute. (However, I wasn’t going to buy the mangaka’s weak backstory behind why he became that way; it wasn’t well written or realistic however way I looked at it.)
Mamura and Suzume argued and joked around each other a lot. I really enjoyed their easy friendship and the silly antics that came along with it.
And I was especially fond of Mamura because, as he expressed and reassured Suzume many times, he was first and foremost Suzume’s friend before anything else. Because he saw Suzume in her most vulnerable states, he understood her inside out. He was a trustworthy confidant that was able to comfort her (physically and emotionally) when Shishio couldn’t. Like Shishio, most of his decisions related to Suzume were made out of selflessness as well. He cherished Suzume, valued his friendship with her, and sacrificed a lot for her happiness. He’s just one of the sweetest and most caring characters to have exist. :’)
Ending my tribute to Mamura on that, I also want to address that I believe antifans of Mamura make a lot of unfair judgements about him

As for Suzume… she is such a pretty shoujo manga heroine. (Like, can a moment be taken to appreciate how her outfits and hairstyles aren’t tacky and gaudy, like other manga heroines, but rather incredibly stylish? Gah, I want her wardrobe.)
She’s illustrated to be a natural beauty (and sort of a tomboy). Though timid and a bit clueless, she’s spontaneous and has the guts to confront her feelings. And I liked that a lot. Also, her character felt genuine and consistent when handling her feelings about the two guys.
Although, I also felt like her character didn’t reach its full potential in terms of growth. She did change from the beginning, but I expected even more development from her.
Conversely, I really thought the frenemy, Yuyuka Nekota, was well developed. Her development is much more apparent than Suzume’s since she changes vastly from how she’s first introduced. She turns over a new leaf and even becomes a great support to Suzume.
She’s also likely the most mature and experienced of the group of girls featured in the story, which again contrasts from Suzume’s innocent character. I like that she’s quite sarcastic and freely criticizes Suzume when the latter does something wrong.
She had a refreshingly unpredictable persona and was the ideal character foil to Suzume. (Plus, her little side story romance with Togyuu Minagawa was pretty adorbs.)
Also, the way this manga highlighted girl friendships is praiseworthy. There’s an unspoken rule among girlfriends that a girl does not date another’s ex-boyfriend or crushes. And I like how this was exemplified in the story. (Re: Like YES, sistas before mistas or however the saying goes.)
Is it possible to love an ending yet be disappointed at the same time? Because this is exactly how I feel about Daytime Shooting Star's conclusion at this point.
I try to refrain myself from wording things such a way (because, ugh, modern jargon) but for lack of better words it had me so shook. It didn’t go anything like I predicted it would, but it went exactly as how I’d hoped.
By the last page it became apparent why this was called Daytime Shooting Star.
Yet a part of me also cannot deny how very poorly written that conclusion was.
Therefore I would say that the ending will make it or break it for readers. But, surprisingly, I docked off a star not because of the actual ending but rather for how poorly it was written. The last chapters appeared too severely rushed to ignore.
Before wrapping this ridiculously long review up, I wanted to bring to the table a few other aspects of the manga.
There are a number of similar scenes from Blue Spring Ride in this. Personally, this didn’t affect my reading experience because I liked both mangas for different reasons and, consequently, could differentiate between the two. Some of you may recall my review for BSR; that one resonated with me greatly despite the cliché and cheese. And I viewed this one as light entertainment, which is okay, too. Besides, both mangas were publishing in unison; I highly doubt that plagiarism was involved.
The art style was so splendid. (But then again, when have I ever went for any type of graphic novel comic series for anything but the art initially?)
Another big bonus is the mangaka’s continuous attempt of including LGBTQ+ and POC characters (mostly with the one shot chapters but still). (The creative gender bender extra will forever be my favorite among them.)
Ultimately, I thought this was a very fun series because instead of interpreting the romance as a love triangle I viewed it as a second chance love story.
But, admittedly, there isn’t much beyond the romance. Readers need to dig deep to find life lessons and buried subliminal messages, and even when found they’re not mind-blowing profound. However, this series does prove how fickle a young teenage girl’s heart can be during her youth to a tee.
And so Daytime Shooting Star is best picked up as a guilty pleasure read and nothing above those expectations. For the cheese was sprinkled omnipresent throughout, the writing and pacing left more to be desired, and many characters remained stagnantly one dimensional. Though not original or spectacular, this series would still provide great entertainment for those craving lighthearted coming of age love stories.

I remember the first time I read this, I was somewhat unsure if I wanted Suzume to end up with Mamura or Shisio but now rereading at this age, I am pretty disgusted at the way Shisio's treating her. I could never understand how the abuse of power and coercing of a young girl's feelings into making her believe that she is in love with them works.

This was such a compelling first volume! I loved the story and the characters and it was a really good set up! I'm excited to read the rest! The art is so nice

Yikes! This manga was problematic on soooo many levels and was sadly not what I was expecting :/
I have been waiting for Daytime Shooting Star to be released physically for sooooooooooo long so when it was published I knew I had to have it.
However...this book has many flaws (excepting the stunning artwork which is awarded the 2.5 stars).
DSS follows Suzume Yosano, a 15 year old girl who moves from the countryside to Tokyo to live with her Uncle while her parents are away on business. When she arrives at the train station though, she is overwhelmed by the difference in pace of life and is knocked into by someone rushing by - a handsome stranger breaks her fall...a handsome stranger who is also her homeroom teacher. (I am aware that it does state this in the blurb) however, I was NOT expecting him to be such a CREEP! I think he's meant to be about 24 but teacher-student relationships don't sit well with me, and considering he's in a position of power and trust, he blatantly misuses these throughout. He outwardly flirts with Suzume and says "suggestive" things which gets her developing feelings for him BUT really, I just think he's messing with her and emotionally manipulating her. It doesn't help that he is a good friend of her uncle's and constantly turns up dressed like a student. He also seems to be laughing AT her a good deal of the time which I really don't like and considering she's new to the school and to Tokyo he just adds to her awkwardness and feeling out of place. And, if that's not all, he has the phone numbers of several of his students and accepts lunches from schoolgirls!!! Ugh, what a jerk!
Elsewhere, we have Yuyuka Nekota, a classmate of Suzume's who looks just like a doll...and is a complete and utter BITCH! She befriends Suzume only because she wants to get closer to Mamura - a socially awkward boy who acts as Suzume's friend. Consumed by jealousy, Nekota texts Suzume the wrong train station to meet up at while the others are all having fun elsewhere...only for the creepy teacher to turn up and laugh because he knows what Nekota is like!!
After confronting Nekota about it, Suzume figures out her feelings for Mamura which results in Nekota saying that she could try to be Suzume's friend but only because it will bring her closer to the boy she fancies!!!! And Suzume is okay with that?!!! WTF?! I hate how people use others to get what they want - it's so hurtful and deceitful and manipulative and when the MC acknowledges it and doesn't do anything about it - ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!
One final thing - another scene which made me very uncomfortable is when the creepy teacher (who I am deliberately not giving a name to) sees the "made-up" version of Suzume - the whole atmosphere changed in that moment and made him appear a lot more predatory *shudders*
Needless to say I won't be carrying on with this series which is a shame as I have heard great things about it but there are just too many problematic elements for me and no fun or joy to be had anywhere.

Umm... okay. I don't know if this series is going to be for me. None of the characters stick out to me and they come off pretty young and angsty. I kind of see where the romance is going and I have to say, I'm not a fan of it. I'm going to try another volume before I decide if I'm going to give up on it altogether.

After arriving in Tokyo to live with her uncle, Suzume collapses in a nearby park where she had once seen a shooting star during the day. A handsome stranger brings her to her new home and tells her they’ll meet again. Suzume starts her first day at her new high school sitting next to a boy who blushes furiously at her touch. And her homeroom teacher is none other than the handsome stranger!
The Premise
Suzume lives an idyllic life in the country until her dad gets a transfer and he and her mom leave the country. They send their daughter to Tokyo to live with her uncle. And that is the start to Daytime Shooting Star vol 1. There she goes to school and has to make new friends. I love this kind of premise. It feels like we are exploring this new place along with the character. And a girl like Suzume is perfect! You know right from the title of the manga that she is a little different from most high school girls. And the way she makes her first friend (or frenemy?!) shows us exactly that... this is not your run of the mill high school girl!
The Buzz
It's nothing new that in Daytime Shooting Star vol 1 Suzume starts crushing on her teacher. He just so happens to be the young man who patronizes her uncles cafe and is his friend. I loved how they first met and the different between his teacher persona and his at home persona. And he actually takes more of a friend role right away instead of forcing a teacher student relationship like normally happens. That was neat. I really love the role he takes on at the end of the volume and want to see a lot of natural blocking of their relationship arise naturally. In Asia there are a lot of taboos with relationships and its tantalizing to play with those boundaries.
The Feels
But who I really loved in Daytime Shooting Star vol 1 was cute and adorable Mamura and snarky Yuyuka! Mamura is a popular flower boy but has a closed and reserved way about him. I love how Suzume got under his shell right away and with her unaware ways learned his secret! It just made me giggle and totally eclipsed the teacher crush to me. But the inclusion of Yuyuka, while another stereotype was fascinating because of the way Suzume handled her. I wonder how these three will manage their relationships! It's going to get even more fun...
The Visuals
I loved the art in Daytime Shooting Star vol 1!! The character designs are really strong... they need to be in order for the series to make it into these volumes... But I really extra love them here (especially the teacher!) This is another mangaka who understands how to use space and perspective on the page! It makes reading the story very immersive and less like talking heads (which can get boring). I saw this is the stores too and the paper version really makes it pop! Digital really doesn't do the art justice.
Daytime Shooting Star vol 1 is a great start to a shoujo romance with quirky new girl, Suzume! I really want her to find her true daytime shooting star and live a happy life. And its super fun that I get to voyeur on her life and see her make it happen. I can't wait to see her grow her relationships with Yuyuka, Mamura and teacher Shishio!

I really enjoyed the first volume of this manga series. Whilst nothing overly exciting happened and none of the characters or any of the story line majorly stood out for me, I still think it deserves four stars because in my opinion it was better then just three, even if nothing really connected with me so far.
I think the art style is very pretty. I like the detail of the eyes and eye lashes. All of the characters are very attractive to look at, particularly sensei. The detail to his appearance is really beautiful. I think the way the mangaka has drawn the main character Yosano really suits her personality, as she is not overly feminine or emotional, so the two plaits seems to mirror that. So I feel like she's a well designed character. I can't wait to see her character development over the series!
I enjoyed reading about how Yosano is at a point in her life where things are changing, and she's left questioning herself.
"The thing that is changing... is it my surroundings or myself?"
I really connected to that and I think this aspect has of the story has been made relateable to anyone who has moved to a whole different environment and are unsure about the changes they are facing.

I do like the story, although I'm not a fan of teacher-student romances. I do like that the mangaka has treated sensei as a teacher by making it clear to Yosano that because he is a teacher the relationship between her and him is kind of forbidden, despite how she may feel. But even still, I'm not convinced and don't think I will enjoy this aspect of the story. What I do like about the story is the relationships between characters and how interestingly they seem to socialise. My favourite relationship is that between Yosano and her uncle. He seems so cute! It's really interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing how these relationships change over the series. Especially Mamura and Yosano. I'm really interested in his character and am so excited to see how he changes in the series. I'm hoping a romance will bloom between him and Yosano!
Overall it was a nice first volume that has set up a lot for the story to offer. I'm looking forward to continue reading! Besides it's looking like it will be a really romantic series, so I really recommend this for romance lovers.

Not really bad, but oh so generic in execution. Suzume is a country girl transferring to a big city high school. She immediately finds a couple romantic interests and a frenemy.
Unfortunately, one of the love interests for this 15-year-old girl is her 24-year-old teacher. It's a crush on her side, but there are a couple moments where the teacher internally starts to reciprocate interest. So knowing nothing else about this series I predict he will behave appropriately outwardly but groom her through her high school years and marry her upon graduation. All very romantic in the creepiest of ways.
Why do so many Japanese manga series do this March-July romance thing? Just off the top of my head: Cardcaptor Sakura, Bunny Drop, Me & My Brothers, Love @ Fourteen, Ran and the Gray World, Takane & Hana.

Voy a confesar que leí este manga en 2 días. Completos, los 12 volúmenes (si, a mi también me dio miedo) y en realidad no porque lo encontrara tan bueno o me lo hubiesen recomendado sino por mi deseo maniaco-obsesivo de saber en qué iba a terminar. La razón de mi obsesión comenzó porque había una pelea en un grupo que
discutía sobre el final de este manga
y mucha gente como que lo detestó y no sabía si estaban siendo justas o no con la mangaka, asi que aquí va lo que me pareció a mi.
La trama trata sobre esta chica Suzume, tranquila y hogareña, que deja a sus padres para ir a vivir con su tio a Tokio. En el momento en que llega a la nueva ciudad, se topa con un muchacho que se ve bastante hippie (y aún así se nota que es precioso) y que luego resulta ser su profesor Shishio Satsuki. Poco a poco la chica comienza a tener sentimientos de amor por él pero es imposible que ambos dejen pasar pequeños problemillas: primero, su diferencia de 9 años de edad (ella tiene 15 y él 24), que sean profesor y alumna además de que Shishio es mejor amigo con el tio de Suzume. No es para nada el primer manga que leo sobre estos enamoramientos hacia profesores pero es primera vez que siento que son tan realistas respecto del "hey, creo que soy menor de edad y tu puedes ir a la cárcel o perder tu trabajo... o ambas", como que antes hasta pensaba que para ellos (los orientales) no era un tema tan mal visto como acá en occidente.
Luego, viene toda la otra mescolanza que se suma a lo anterior, el hecho de que su nuevo amigo Daiki Mamura se enamora de ella (triángulo amoroso a la una) y que su amiga Yuyuka quiere a Daiki (cierre del mega expectacular culebrón). El ritmo es francamente lento, Suzume es una chica centrada que no actúa por impulsos por lo que no hay declaraciones de amor a la rápida o que suceden "out of the blue" eso logra que hayan muchos muchos volúmenes de avance y retroceso con los sentimientos de casi todos los personajes.
Los personajes son estos estudiantes a los que nunca esperas que les pasen cosas demasiado interesantes pero que en realidad guardan secretos oscuros como amores no correspondidos por ciertos profesores hot. Suzume me recordó un poco a Shizu (de Tonari no Kaibatsu-kun) y a Haruhi (de Host Club), chicas sencillas de espíritu, directas y francas, de las que enamoran por la calma que llevan con ellas. Shishio tiene una personalidad muy similar a Chun-chun (como él llamaba a Suzume) y es la razón por la que se atraen, sin embargo, está en constante conflicto con sus sentimientos y honestamente al final me cayó bastante mal por eso este tipo, porque siempre dejaba con un hilo de esperanza a la pobre chica (muy lindo será, pero vamos, no es para perdonarle todo).
Daiki es el otro chico enamorado de la protagonista y no toma real importancia hasta más de la mitad del manga, es fácilmente el hombre más paciente de la vida y para ser el tipo que el 90% del tiempo pensamos que será el segundón del triángulo amoroso, es sumamente importante rozando los capitulos finales. Yuyuka me gustó muchisimo, no solo porque la amé fisicamente, sino porque me reflejé un poco en ella respecto de su personalidad esquiva pero preocupada. Aparte de ella, la verdad es que me costó mucho conectarme con los personajes a cabalidad, no sé si porque no podía comprenderlos o porque no se harían entender (o querer) pero para ser tan bonitos no eran grandes personajes.
El dibujo es lo que más voy a destacar de este manga, aún cuando a veces me aburría de un montón de cosas en la trama, lo que me mantenía ahí pasando páginas era lo hermoso del dibujo. Sumamente delicado, los personajes son (para variar) hombres y mujeres sin un solo defecto físico, y no es que quiera sonar superficial pero ver a la perfección que puede llegar una mangaka casi como que emociona. Los contraste perfectos entre los rasgos de los personajes destacan por sobre otros mangas del género y prácticamente puedo asegurar que un gran porcentaje de las chicas que apoyaban la relación ShishioxSuzume era por el perfecto par que hacen a la vista.

I’ve read this before online years and years ago and when I saw the volumes on Amazon I knew I had to pick this story up again.
This is such a beautiful manga, the art style is amazing. I love the characters. Our main character Suzume is this typical country bumpkin who gets thrown into a city setting she’s kind of oblivious and uncertain. Then we have Mamura the mysterious quiet boy who’s awkward around girls who’s really sweet. And then we have Shishio a handsome dark haired man who turns out to be Suzume’s home room teacher.
I can’t remember where I got up to reading this manga years ago. But so far I remember it was cute which it is!

I had seen the japanese movie adaption and i completely loved it! So i am glad i have started the manga series and it has a very pleasant start.Suzumi is a heroine who had rather try to find stars in the daylight instead of study and going to her classes. Moving to the city Tokyo changes her life where she befriends her teacher who is a little too charming, her classmate Mamura who hates to be touched by girls and a mean girl who wants to get closer to Mamura.

Oh, para ser una introducción digamos estuvo muy linda ,me dejó con muchos sentimientos.
Me pareció excelente que a pesar de haber una chica linda y popular que empezó mal con nuestra protagonista (perdonen todavia no se los nombres:() después se forme una amistad entre ellas, ya en eso salió del típico cliché.
Y ademas del profesor que ya esta en mi update, tengo que resaltar esta escena.

OhMyGosh! I really liked how this manga started but now I'm done with Vol. 8 and I just feel like it all got so sad so fast. Suddenly they "break up" and then she's sad, but then she begins to move on, and now it seems she's about to fall in love with Mamura!!! I don't think I can handle it if she doesn't end up with Shishio! But as it is right now, I really doubt that's gonna happen... Oh please dear Author! Please don't let her feelings change for Shishio! At least let her graduate and then make her realize that he's the only one for her! Don't leave her thinking that he doesn't love her 'cuz he does! He really does!

this was actually pretty stressful to read, tbh. don't wanna say too much bc i feel like part of the experience is going in blind...
despite being a romance manga-lover (in my heart, in my soul, all of it), i avoided this manga a while bc the premise didn't seem appealing to me. but it hits home, and i love the little details characterizing the different members of the cast. yuyuka is a hidden gem, ofc, and you can tell the author has a lot of love for all of the different characters, esp bc half of the .5 chapters were wrapping up threads for side characters from their other manga series HAHAHA. great stuff. would rec but this work is p emotionally exhausting...

This was a very calm and casual slice-of-life! In fact, I felt almost had whiplash because Suzume is very down-to-Earth, and to quote Zoro from One Piece about this volume, "Nothing happened."
Now I don't mean that in a bad way! I enjoyed this first volume quite a bit! It's just this has to be one of the least stress-free shojo manga series I've started where I didn't feel desperation to pick up the next volume because of the stressful events that took place in that said volume. While I definitely would like to keep reading, it was just surprising how chill Suzume is and how she takes everything in stride. Granted, she totally admits to being timid and such, but I don't know. This volume hit differently. Even with the "drama moment" that unfolded, I wasn't expecting it to be wrapped up so quickly or how Suzume responded.
But let's talk about the guys, I LOVE Mamura!! That boy is a little precious bean and cannot wait to see more of him throughout this series! I'm 100% rooting for him, even though Shishio is a cute and fun character. It's just with Shishio, I need more "blockers" to be put up between him and "Tweetie." That ending made me nervous about how their friendship can/will grow? Though I feel the mangaka has given key(?) signs that nothing will come from this "student" crush? Mamura has all the ingredients for the perfect shojo hero, so here's to hoping he falls for our girl and they start dating by the end!
Also, how come no one mentioned there is an EPIC volleyball moment with Suzume?! It's super brief but I would have picked it up a lot sooner otherwise!!! Love seeing some volleyball in manga! <3

There goes my ship

It's just a basic plot with girl moving from village to big town, hot teacher who she has a crush on, classmate that's in love with her, and girl hating MC for attracting hot classmate's attention.
BUT
Let me tell you what makes this Manga so special
This awesome girl Suzume
She's wierd and awesome. Like you can actually see character development here. And instead of girl hate she make that girl as her friend. I guess what instead? Instead of being a background character she undergoes character development too!
Now on to the love interests
Even though they both fight it was never a petty macho she's mine fight. Also the struggles of shishio's indecisive nature over loving a student and mamura's attitude of being a friend for suzume if that's what she wants. And suzume actually thinking over before making huge decisions. Also the fact that every character plays a role and not being just a background. I'm totally in love this Manga but in end only one ship survives and it's not mine.

I just reread Daytime Shooting Star Vol 1 by Mika Yamamori, and I haven't touched it since college, nor did I finish it back then. Let's see how it goes!
I liked the art. It's really cute, so is the cover!
The story was okay, it wasn't a strong start, in my opinion. I didn't get that feeling of "Omg I need to know what's happening next!"
I'm curious, although there are overly used tropes here. I never was into teens crushing on teachers/adults, so that might have been part of the reason why I don't remember this manga that well.
