This novel delves into dominant and submissive relationships and does an excellent job at highlighting the idiosyncrasies of the roles more than a lot of similar novels; I applaud the author on the explanations. However, the relationship between Javier and Jada jumps very quickly after Jada decides to agree to the relationship. The concept of the exclusive sex club ranch isn't new but the description of the pony races was, at least to me. While the races were a side story that didn't really factor into the plot, I found it interesting. The conclusion was certainly shocking and not something I saw coming.

The authors summary includes "erotic, amusing, and deeply moving": I agree with the first two but deeply moving? I don't see it.

There was a production glitch where the end of chapter 11 is repeated as the beginning of chapter 12 which had me checking to make sure I hadn't accidentally moved back in the audiobook; nope, a technical error.

D.J. Rhyder did a great job narrating and has good emotional inflections making it a fairly easy listen.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Jada and Javier. Jada had a bad experience with her ex-boyfriend when she was 18 and it made her shy away from acting out her fantasies and need to be dominated. Now years later, Jada interviews for a job as an assistant to Javier. Javier tells her part of the job is to see to all of his needs, meaning he wants her to submit to him. Jada agrees to go with Javier to a weekend getaway for people in the BDSM lifestyle to see if she can really submit to him. I enjoyed this story. Jada really thought about what her needs were. I think Javier cared about her, but he also wanted to dominate her and i felt he really didn't care for her as much as he should have. There was also a twist in this book i didn't see coming. Good one.

I really enjoyed the exploration that Jada was willing to do and how Javier had needs, yet he moved at Jada's speed. Of course that sped up quickly when things got steamy. Jada was curious and Javier knew that he needed to dominate, but was willing to go slow with Jada when she agreed to try it. But once Jada got a taste, she craved submission as much as Javier craved domination. These two were made for each other. But that last twist I never saw coming. This is my favorite in the series.

D.J. Ryder narrates this story well. He has an easy to listen to voice. His female voice is smooth and does not feel forced. Mr. Ryder had the perfect voice for the dominant, strong Javier. He narrated him exactly as I imagined. I look forward to hearing more from Mr. Ryder.

A mystery book come to life in the form of a opposite attracts romance.
He is dominant and is willing to show her the ropes (pun intended)
But complete submission is foreign to her and it takes a few sessions to show her the way to complete intimacy

Jada going thru several jobs after leaving college. Landing a job working for Xavier, a mystery writer. But he has more than mysteries in his library. Jada was wanting to know about the locked room. What was in his secret room? Did she really want to know? Xavier had other things in mind for her to learn. This story is erotic, sexy and steamy hot. D. J. Rhyder is a wonderful narrator, very animated, and a pleasure to listen to. I was gifted this audio and offered my honest review.
