Beatrix Fuller’s income as a romance writer keeps her dozens of rescue cats in food and kitty litter, but she dreams of using a promised family inheritance to help build a state of the art cat adoption facility. To get the money, she has to present her fiancé to her father for approval at the family estate in Aspen, Colorado.
The kink in this cat tale? The fiancé Bea’s told her family about for years is as fictional as the oh-so-perfect leading men in her books. She needs a fake fiancé fast, and she has two requirements: 1) must love cats and 2) no getting involved. Bea’s written romance long enough to know that false engagements lead to real relationships and she’s not interested.
Although photographer Sebastian Ross spends every morning shooting in the gorgeous Colorado mountains, buyers aren’t exactly lined up to purchase his work. After Seb responds to Bea’s posting for a fake fiancé, they make a deal: pretend to be madly in love for the sake of her cats and his ridiculously high rent. But if they so much as kiss, Bea will give up her favorite fur baby and Seb will sell his beloved Canon.
A foolproof plan . . . until something grows between these fools that looks a lot like love.

A.G. Henley is a USA Today bestselling author of contemporary and fantasy books and stories, including the Love & Pets adult romantic comedy series. The first book in her young adult Brilliant Darkness series, THE SCOURGE, was a Library Journal Self-e Selection and a Next Generation Indie Book Award finalist. She’s also a clinical psychologist, but she promises not to analyze you... much.
I was not very impressed with the first book in the series. But even then, I liked Beatrix so I wanted to know more about this introverted and quirky romance novel writer cat lady.
And I got hooked into the story from the beginning. The dual perspective gave it a bit more depth. I liked Beatrix and Sebastian and their chemistry. I could see it. I could understand it.
Plot development was not surprising or fresh. You can easily guess what will happen, but I kept reading until the characters (even the side ones) were good and happy.
Now my fingers are itching to give book Nr. 3 a chance.
The Trouble with Tabbies is the second book in the Love & Pets series. It was so cute and funny in some places. It even has a fake fiance turned to real love. I think Travis, the vet, and Sebastian, the fake fiance, are going to be my book boyfriends in the series. The cat antics were funny in the story and the leading female, Beatrix , reminds me of myself. I just don't have a love for cats like she does. I
If you need a cute happy story then this series is for you. 5 stars and highly recommended for both this book and the Trouble with Pugs
ספר המשך ל-"The Problem with pugs" שקראתי לא מזמן.
Too much family drama, and yet so little romance. Fake relationships is usually one of my favorite tropes and even that didn't salvage this book.
I also hate that this is the 2/2 heroine in this series with no redemption arc. Bea's sudden realization that she didn't actually need her inheritance to fund the shelter or whatever meant nothing when, in the end, she ended up accepting her dad's money anyway. On the other hand, Sebastian refused daddy's money (even though he really needed it), letting her go in the process, SOLD HIS CAMERA so he could pay her back, worked his ass off and even got to buy the camera of his dreams. At least he did something for himself, not like Bea who danced around two possible love interests, and started and finished the book relying on someone else's money.
If you love stories about pets and quirky characters then this is the book for you. I thought I knew cat lovers, but Beatrix wins the prize! This quirky, loveable woman will win your heart when she wants to build a cat adoption facility. Enter Sebastian, a handsome, photographer fake fiance', a cold, distant father who puts many stipulations on her inheritance, an ex who wants her back, and many other complex family members. You might chuckle, you might cry, but you'll never keep up with the number of cats!!! Underneath all the shenanigans, both pet and human, is a very endearing story when Bea finally takes charge of her own happiness and stands up to what she wants and needs in her life. Brava, Ms. Henley has done it again!
I read the Trouble with Tabbies in one sitting, I refused to put it down until I found out how Bea would resolve her dilemma. My gosh! I loved it. I smiled, I laughed, I wanted to punch people and then I squee’d. That’s a good book by my scale of rating emotions
OMG I couldn’t put down! A romance that involves cats and tons of laugh out loud moments. I was smiling while reading and for a long time after. A real feel good book! This is the first book I’ve read by author AG Hanley and a new MUST READ AUTHOR!
Bea is a cat lover. She's my kind of person. She wants to use her inheritance to fund a cat adoption center but she has to get the inheritance first. Her father wants to see her settled first. How can she prove to him that she is settled? By hiring a fake fiance, of course. She shows up at her father's birthday with her "fiance." Everything is going well until her ex appears, as an invited guest. The birthday celebration becomes unpleasant and when it's over, Sebastian, the fake fiance, goes, too. Bea goes home to her thirty cats. Is it the end? No, of course not. There is a beautiful ending ahead. I loved it.
So I stumbled upon this Author. I read the prequel. I read book 1 and loved it and bought book 2. Also loved it so I bought book 3 and because I have a lot of confidence in Aimee, I preordered book 4. Aimee? If you read this review, you better get busy because I’m going through your books very quickly. This is fair warning: Get book 5 ready while I read 3 & 4.
I have just recently gone back to reading, which I totally lost interest for a couple of years. I read this book and... Wow..! Read it straight through - couldn't put it down! I loved everything about it! As someone who has become allergic to cats, I was slightly green with envy reading about cuddling them and hanging around with so many! Oh, and to have your own Seb *sigh*.
Another fun, enjoyable addition to the series. Nice characters, engaging family dynamics, a few animals, and a happy ending. All good facets of a light/hearted, not too deep light romance. Perfect book for relaxation. Although these light romances generally are not my favorite books, this series is easy escapism from stressful times. Will line up #3 to begin soon.
The Trouble with Tabbies is the second book in the “Love and Pets” series by A.G. Henley
The Trouble with Tabbies is a very cute light easy read. Cute animals, quirky characters and the fake fiance trope merge to make this an enjoyable fun read.
Beatrix (Bea) is a romance novelist who keeps rescuing cats. She has a house full of them! She has a complex relationship with her Father, who is holding up her inheritance until she is settled. She wants that money to help start a cat rescue shelter, and has lied to her family about a non-existent fiance. When summoned to her father’s birthday party she realizes she needs a fake fiance, and fast. Using a dating app, she finds photographer Sebastian Ross, a bartender by night, and a struggling photographer by day. He could use the money Beatrix offers him to be her fake fiance, and he’s a bit intrigued by her offer. What can go wrong?
This book was a fast read, and fun. Beatrix is not your typical crazy cat lady, but the description almost fits. She can’t say no to a cat in trouble, which is why she wants to help her friend build the new cat shelter. She needs her inheritance in order to help fund the shelter build.
If you want a fast fun easy read, The Trouble with Tabbies is it!
I loved this story! - The Trouble with Tabbies by AG Henley. This was the 3rd book that I’ve read by this author, all in this series. I have already purchased the next 2 books and look forward to reading them, as well. Generally I avoid emotional, drama-filled novels - I hate the angst. But there was something about Beatrix that tugged at me. I had to know that she would survive, and come out stronger and happier in the end. I highly recommend this book - The Trouble with Tabbies. There are definitely heart tugging moments, but there is enough humor and wonderful secondary characters to lighten the overall feel - it doesn’t feel emotionally draining. Several delightful scenes nearly had me spilling my coffee in laughter. :D
Beatrix Fuller/FMC has a few anxiety issues and idiosyncrasies; comes from a wealthy, overbearing family; has a father who demands rather than listens; her mom (whom she loved) died awhile back and then her fiancé dumped her. She’s not had it easy. I loved Beatrix. I could identify with a number of her challenges, and my heart went out to her. She was quite misunderstood by those closest to her. Sebastian Ross/MMC is a struggling free lance wildlife photographer working his way into the business. He is working as a bartender until he gets a break (or two) and can live on his photography business alone. Sebastian understands difficulties, as he has them. Beatrix gets an opportunity to receive part of her family inheritance early, which she could desperately use. But to collect, her father says she must bring home a serious boyfriend or a fiancé. The problem? She’s dating no one, and hasn’t since the unexplainable rejection from her ex-fiancé 2 years ago. Beatrix requires a boyfriend. What could go wrong?
I recommend The Trouble with Tabbies to readers who enjoy sweet contemporary romances, pet/animal stories (there are lots of kitties!), HEAs, Clean stories, Small Town stories, and the Fake Boyfriend trope. The Trouble with Tabbies can be read as a standalone or part of the lighthearted series. The Problem with Pugs is bk#1 which I also enjoyed.
Reader Cautions - Violence - none. Profanity - none. Sexual situations- none. Readers looking particularly for Clean novels may wish to know 2ndary chars, extended family, are gay and 2 of the most likable chars in the story. I enjoyed and recommend The Trouble with Tabbies.
A sweet, clean romance. Beatrix Fuller has gone through a rough patch. First her mother died, then her longtime boyfriend decides to call it quits to “explore other options.” To fill the void, she has been adopting cats. A lot of them. She want to help fund a no-kill cat shelter, but while her job as a romance novelist provides well, it isn’t enough. She is due to come into her inheritance, but her father will only give it to her if she is “settled.” Of course, she has to find a fake fiancé to take to her father’s 80’th birthday party, so she puts an ad in Craigslist for a hiking companion who musk like cats. Sebastian is a bartender and a wannabe photographer. Once Béa offers him money to be her fake fiancé, he accepts. This is a very chaste book, with just a few kisses. Overall enjoyable.
Bea really, really loves cats. But she wants to help more of them, and she has offered to donate a lot of money to build a shelter. Problem is, she needs her inheritance money to do that. And to get that, she needs to prove to her dad she can find someone to settle down with. So, she strikes a deal with Seb. He will spend the week of her dad's birthday with her family and pretend to be her fianace, while getting paid to do it. Trouble is, both Bea and Seb realize they have feelings for each other. What to do now?
I picked this one up for free on Amazon. These types of books can go either way for me. I haven't read anything by this author before, but that is about to change. This book was totally adorable! I loved Bea and Seb, and even though the book was rather short, I didn't feel like it was rushed at all. You definitely see them grow and develop. I loved the troubled family drama throughout the book. It was a really cute read, and I hope to continue on with the series and read more from the author.
For not having and experiencing the joy of being catted, this writer did an awesome job of hiding that fact. I am the neighborhood cat lady in my reality, like the main character. I also have extreme anxiety about a few things, like people, places and things. Lol. Anyhow, I really felt a kinship with Bea. I loved the book but I got quite emotional over it, which I did not see coming. Anyhow, bravo!!!
Loved this story. Bea is an introverted romance writer and cat lover. Sebastian needs some cash and agrees to help her out as a stand in fake fiancé. As expected things are not smooth sailing. Both grow and face their future without the past pulling them in. An adorable sweet romance.
Oh my goodness! I enjoyed this book SO MUCH. This is the first book I've read by this author, and leaves me wanting to rent other books she's written. Better than average. This was a very enjoyable story, with a nice happy ending. Well-written, well-paced, and entertaining. In my opinion, this book is very well worth the time to read.
Bea needs a fake fiancé in order to fool her family and receive her inheritance money. She meets Seb through Craigslist who agrees to help her out for money. Her father invites Bea’s ex for the weekend which throws a wrench into her scheme. Will her rise be successful? Will Bea and Seb act on their mutual attraction?
It was a fairly ho-hum story. No real surprises in this sweet romance.
If you love books about animals and unique characters, this book is for you! From the moment you start, the story sucks you in and you can't put it down.
This book was totally adorable and I really enjoyed the characters and the troubled family dynamic. It’s short, but wasn’t rushed at all.
A.G. Henley is masterful in her character development and humor. Her writing style grabs the reader and doesn't let go. If you haven't read Problem with Pugs, check that out also.
Loved this book, although even as a cat lover ,no way could I have as many cats as Be a had! The dynamics of a rich, dysfunctional family led by a rude, overly protective patriarch would lead anyone to question their life.
The Trouble with Tabbies was a light and enjoyable read. However, it was very formulaic and reminded me a lot of the movie The Wedding Date. The fake relationship for various kinds of gain is an often used trope. Enjoyable, but not as original as her first work
As an animal lover and after reading the first book in this series I was absolutely hooked on finding out more about Bea and her cats. A truly heartwarming story about love and the lengths people will go to to help animals in need!
I love this book. It was cute too. To be honest, I don’t have a preference love trope. I kind of thought I would like enemies to lovers, but this fake dating/fiancé was well written. I love the characters and I love how Travis and Amelia were briefly presented in the book.
