Meet Felix Freeman, London’s finest Wizard P.I. Apart from the other one.
Turns out the everyday world is full of strange and magical things and London is full to the brim. The city infested with vampires, demons and dark wizards…
And one of them is hell bent on destroying London.
Unfortunately Felix accidentally finds out this dark wizards plan and now he’s the only one who can stop him.
But first, there’s the tricky matter of a being framed for a brutal murder…
Felix will stop at nothing to clear his name, and clear the streets.
And he better bring out all the stops, because this dark wizard means business.
Look out London, there’s wizards about.
Imagine Harry Potter all grown up with an attitude problem, you've just met Felix Freeman. If you love foul-mouthed heroes, demons determined to drain you of blood, and exploring the darker side of magic, this is the book for you.
All the classic comma errors (let's eat Grandma, comma before main verb, comma splices, and all the rest) plus a lack of necessary apostrophes made this a chore to read, and I stopped at about 10%.
The prologue is barely readable. I’m not entirely sure why there was a foreword.
To be fair, I did not get very far into this book before calling the game on account of boredom. There is a notable lack of skill and understanding on the part of the author as to how to craft a novel. Structural flaws in the prose make the prologue tedious to read. Sentence length and structure MATTER.
If this was done to mimic the Sherlock Holmes books...welcome to the 21st century. Consumer tastes have changed.
I really enjoyed this story. I would have loved it immensely if it had been properly proofread and edited. There were way too many grammar and punctuation errors everywhere.
Loved the story but not the excessive grammatical errors. Jack if you read this, I can fix your book for free in exchange that you considering hiring me for future works. I am a professional freelance editor.
A fast paced read filled with adventure, humor and magic. It has a fresh and original feel and isnt like the other magic books out there. This was my first by this author but defintely not my last
might be kindle unlimited once it's released in full, normally don't review what is basically half book but like the writer and wanted to read it, and anything I read that is up for review gets reviewed, BUT saying that also saying know there is a google doc out there with suggestions, questions, etc, and there are either some typos and/or some ? spots, which if cleared up would make the rating hold, like the concept and where it seems to be going, and end of book had a get whole thing here link so will look in to that as well
He is Felix Freeman: Thief. Outcast. Wizard. Accused of a murder he did not commit... And he is Will Norton, an ordinary man, down on his luck, moves into a house share in London, little does he know that in the attic lives a wizard.
The wizard, Felix Freeman, lives in a world that doesn't believe him. Now accused of a "murder by magic" in the vaults of an underground bank in central London, he must fight to prove his innocence.
Will Norton, caught between the police and the wizard, the only witness to the wizards innocence must help.
Through a death defying series of magical adventures across a backdrop of London locations, his ordinary life will change forever.
A very funny story featuring the self-styled wizard Private Investigator, Felix Freeman. He is in equal measures clever and infuriating, but also completely egotistical. His adventures are narrated by William Norton whom Felix has persuaded to act as his general dogsbody and also chronicle his adventures (in his mind a bit like Watson narrates Holmes' mysteries.) There are some very well written magical moments, where Felix goes up against another wizard, who is trying to frame him for murder. But there are also laugh-out-loud moments and very exciting action scenes as well. A unique and enjoyable read for anyone who likes magical adventures. I received an advance copy of the book, but have voluntarily written this honest review.
This was a bit of an oddball story, but excellent none-the-less. William Norton is a man with a broken heart and a broke bank account. Moving into a ratty old boarding house, he finds a mysterious man living on the third floor that no one else can see. Able to resist Felix's magic, but not his power of persuasion, he gets talked into adventure after adventure. Soon becoming Felix's friend and partner in...well not crime but trying to avoid getting arrested for crimes he didn't commit. a very scary evil wizard enters their life seeking a special ring. Now all bets are off, including staying alive. An excellent book.
I agree with other reviewers - this book really needed an editor, because all the mistakes are quite distracting, and a critical beta reader as. Also, the characters and the world needed more fleshing out and backstory.
Overall, it's like Sherlock (2010) crossed with Harry Potter, with David Tennant cast as the titular wizard. It might have been quite OK, if more effort were put to make it more original. As it is, I rather recommend the Harry Dresden series or look up Sherlock (2010) / Harry Potter crossovers on fanfiction.net (some of them are awesome, even if not finished).
Will Norton meets wizard Felix Freeman. Will falls into a world of wizards and supernatural beings. This has a mixture of crime, magic and even gangsters. Felix is suppose to take medication for his mental illness. By not taking it, he drags others into crazy and dangerous situations. The plot moves along nicely. I like the adventure, mystery and humor. I also like many of the other characters.
This was great. I loved Felix and Will though I wanted to slap Sharon for telling where the ring was but I forgave her at the end. Great start with the characters Felix and Will.
I love this & I can't wait for more. I will be also leaving a review on Goodreads @ Amazon. And letting everyone know about it. So i gave it a 5 Stars.
