Follow along in this much anticipated conclusion to the Dystance series. Winter and Cedar have been thrust to the front amidst the chaos of a war much bigger than they could have ever realized. Old and new friends alike help them in their quest to preserve earth and her way of life. An unlikely encounter threatens to unravel everything they thought they knew. Can humans finally prevail in a war that has lasted untold centuries or will they become a footnote in the history of the universe?
The final(?) installment of the Dystance series is in and I don't believe anyone will be disappointed. There is pleny of action along with what appears to be the beginning of friendship between a new/old species; the Genogarians. (possible spoilers) If you've read the first two books you will have known the possibilityof Geno's and Humans mixing again was possible, but then this is Mark Tufo we are talking about who throws in those tidbits to let us stew until he completes the cooking process. And the end result is fantastic as he answers many questions about the centuries long war and what actually happened to the Talbots and everyone associated with them. The space battles are fantastic, filled with action and a certain amount of Dejavu when Winter is trapped inside an enemy ship along with Tallow and several soldiers, (Think Talbot in Defeat's Victory). Yep, intense. I glad he wrapped things up. It is a great ending but a little too swift for me; the beginning of the end to the centuries long war might have had a couple of extra books added to a great series. My only real gripe is that there is no mention of any of BT's decendants and what happened to him. It could have added another layer of exciteent and a young version of BT would have been grand to see in action? It is however with hope that he ends the Saga, hinting that maybe, just maybe, Winter and Cedar may make an appearance in an alternate universe. And wouldn't that be exciting! Maybe BT or his son or grandson coming in not to mention Durgen, the villian we love to hate. Even a young Denaux would be welcome and interesting to explore.... But then Mark Tufo has a penchant for surprising us and not in a bad way. We can only hope....
Spoilers............. I enjoyed the book to a certain point but felt that the author had lost his enthusiasm for the series and the plot suffered for that, especially the ending which seemed somewhat abrupt. And I suppose that's why he won't be writing another, which is a big shame as I felt the concept initially was different enough fron his other works, however this book felt like much of an extension to the Indian hill series, which in itself isn't a bad thing as all of the tufoverse is linked to a degree but some of it felt rushed and it left to many questions without proper answers.
I give this five stars because come on its MT! The end though could of been not the end because so much was left unresolved. Hopefully the author will maybe write one more??? Having read the whole zombie Fallout series and the Lycan Fallout I was hoping for so much more. Still a satisfying read and great YA. Off I go to read the Indian Hill series because ya again it’s MT and a Michael Talbot story and ya crushing hard on this character. Hopefully MT never stops writing!!!
For the Winter and Cedar's Magnum Opus, Mark has soared no expense. In this moment, in this story, these dynamic young women are at the very center, the heart of the Tufoverse and their struggles and victories will pull at your heartstrings while secrets are revealed and brave new allies stand firm alongside our heroes.
Holy crapper! The stuff these girls (and friends) go through in this book is unbelievable! The things they are learning, the losses they suffer, the friends they make, makes your head spin…And the action scenes are great!!! Loved this trilogy!
My favorite Dystance book of the trilogy. I love how Mark tied Mike Talbot, Tracy and Drababon in for a cameo. I enjoyed the first 2, but this one really left me wanting more. I hope he does decide to continue on with the battle for space. I feel like this segwayed into the perfect continuation of the Talbot-verse.
I'm so sad to see this series end! What an amazing adventure this will take you on! And wow what an unexpected moment yup tie in with everything else!!
