Dragon Lovers #3

Bonded to the Dragon

Rate this book
My fate is commanded by a dragon.
He’s the one who helped me escape the fairy queen.

I thought I was free.

But instead of letting me go…

This sculpted rock of a man made me his prisoner.

He had an impossible condition.

I would help him get his revenge in exchange for my freedom.

But his piercing eyes made me wonder if I even wanted to leave.

One touch and I knew I belonged to his man.

I knew I was never meant to have him.

But the curve of his dangerous smile imprisoned me more than I already was.

How am I going to escape now?

Dragons and Shen are an interesting mix and not always for the good of one or the other. A young woman brought back to life by none other than Titania, Queen of the Shen as a “vengeance demon” who can not die again , gets traded off to a Dragon who manages to get the best of the Queen. The dragon’s sister was kidnapped out from under Titania’s protection and this trade is supposedly to balance the scales of her being lost. The Dragon wants the young woman to help him get his sister back. Along the way they fall for each other, but will love set them free from the past and allow them to have a future together?

Quick(ish) Review

The Good: the start of this story wasn’t what I expected but it was interesting.

The Bad: still not a fan of the way the action sequences play out, the narrative was stilted at times.

The Bottom Line. This series had many interesting elements but I don’t know if I’m a fan of how those story elements ultimately played out. I can only say it’s ok.

Light flared as a fireball crashed against an invisible bubble barrier and a huge scaled white claw scraped the protective bubble arcing over Val. The creature’s talons broke through the bubble, resulting in a blast of air which reeked of smoke. Val had already died but Titania, the fairy queen, had brought her back to life since she wanted to keep her bound as her slave – nothing but an imprisonment disguised as a second life. Out of the blazing fire, a man in a formal white suit walked forward and placed a glowing hand on Titania’s bubble barrier, shooting out electric sparks amid the scent of ozone and ash. An intense pressure rose and suddenly Titania’s shield was gone. The flaming man, not in his dragon form, approached Titania who threatened that he would not find the Angel of Death nor his sister, Aurora. Aurora had been the only one who had been kind to Val. Val remembered being present when Aurora was abducted from the library by a winged man, so her being here was part of whatever Titania was up to.

Val ran, hoping the dragon would be angry and just kill her. Instead, he stood in front of her and knew she had died and been reborn for vengeance, yet she didn’t want vengeance. Val felt magic within her and knew she could help him somehow. The dragon’s enemy betrayed him, killed his brother and stole his sister. Destruction was the answer! But then she heard her mother say, “Forgiveness is the only way to find peace in an unjust world.” The dragon looked at her strangely. She told him she could not give him what he wanted, then he responded, “I know you lied. But you will give me what I want. You’ll give me everything.” What did he mean by that? What did she have left to give him?

I felt like I jumped into the middle of things when I started this book. Although I could follow the action itself, which was fast-paced and excellently presented, understanding what was going on and why took some time to develop. The story line is high-action and definitely invests the reader in finding out what is about to happen. I enjoyed the author’s writing and can easily recommend this book, with the advice that you stick with it until you begin to understand the expectations of the characters. Once you are on board, you’ll love the adventure it takes you on!

Bonded to the Dragon is a fantastic book written by Kara Lockharte. I have now followed this author and read pretty much all of her books, and these just keep getting better and better. This one is probably my favorite one of all her books and I am not sure how to explain it, but I will try.

The author developed and imaginative book that is focusing on the story of Grant and Val. There are some nice twists and I really had a difficult time putting this book down! This book was truly captivating and had me totally enthralled in the story. The pace of the book was just plain perfect! There was always something happening leaving you never bored. The story never dragged out nor did the author ever rushed you through it which are both very important to me.

Val is an adorable character who you can't help but love. She got the shortest end of the stick that I have read in some time and I hurt for her while reading her story. As you read along you can see her grow and push through her pain. Even though she went through pretty much hell, she somehow still managed to come through this a good person, and does the right things because her heart is in the right place, and this is the main reason why I enjoyed this book so much. This character pretty much made this book into what it is and seeing her transformation is amazing!

But let's not forget about Grant, who is another important part of this book. He is a strong alpha male, no doubt about it, but even so he has a big heart and is not afraid to show it, in his own alpha male way that is of course. He is her perfect match and their developing relationship is beautiful to follow.

Of course this book is not just about their budding romance but also has a greater picture story that is intriguing. In my eyes this book pulls all the right strings, but especially the ones to the heart which made this such a fantastic read. I for one loved it and can only highly recommend it to fellow lovers of the paranormal. Yes this one focuses a lot on the romance between the main characters, but there is so much character development going on and of course the story of the Devourer we should not forget, that this book really has so much to offer to everyone. Give it a try, you won't regret it especially if you could use a good romance.

Also.. es war mal was anderes.

This is a fantastic story and I enjoyed it immensely I’ve read all of the other stories in the Lick of Fire series but this one is a standalone and a really great read. Vale was a slave to queen Titania and Val had died but the queen had brought her back from the dead so Val could be bonded to the queen as her slave. A man came in and put his hands on the shield that protected the queen, and Val had run she was hoping that the man would chase her so she could die again but the man / dragon wanted to use Val to get revenge on the queen because she killed his brother and kidnapped his sister. That’s all I’m going to give you guys but there is so much more to this story I loved it, this is a fantastic story a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Bonded To The Dragon by Kara Lockharte is Book Three in the Lick of Fire series. I dropped into this series with this book and despite there being spoilers, it was relatively easy to follow the thread. And while I really enjoyed Grant and Val's story, I think the read would definitely have been enhanced by reading the books in series order. There is some resolution to the Grant and Val storyline, but I got the feeling that there is more yet to come for them. Good action, drama, sexy dragons and a little bit of darkness set an uneven pace that seems to fit the story. A good read that made me want to go back and read the first two books.

This honest and voluntary review was made possible by reading a copy obtained through Booksprout

This one for me was a bit harder to get involved in. However, once I figured out where I was and what was happening, it was enthralling. I loved this story. The internal conflict Val was constantly fighting was what made this so interesting. Grant seemed to understand Val more than she understood herself. The closeness they shared once she realized he didn't want to just use her for her powers was heartwarming. I loved how she used her powers and Grant was amazed with it as well. This was a wonderful addition to the Dragon Lords series. I can't wait til she runs into her friend Lana after being dead and all. I requested an advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.

WARNING 18+
Paranormal Romance Dragon Shifters, Shen
This is book 3 in the "Lick of Fire Collection: Dragon Lovers" series.
The heroine is not alive nor dead there is mention she is Demon of Death. She is bond through a ring to the Fae Queen. Til the hero a white dragon freed her from the queen to help him find and get back his sister who was taken by the Angel of Death.
I recommend that you read in order so that you can know more about her, the abduction of the hero's sister. Along with the rest of the cast and questions you might have as you read.

Reading Bonded to the Dragon is like the first-time reading Alice in Wonderland. You have no idea what’s going on, but the stuff happening is interesting…... Eventually you start to get a clue, then it ends. I’m not even sure why I find this fascinating! I hope to understand this series by the end.

There is a lot of magic that doesn’t seem to follow any discernable rules. Val doesn’t understand what she is or what she can do. At least the villain is still the Devourer. Oh, and there is a love story amongst all the confusion. Anyone for a ride on the crazy train?

Wishing to just die like any other human, Val has to suffer resurrecting each and every time, cant she die already? Apparently not, she has a purpose, but dont know what that is until Grant walks into her life, or is that death, and turns things around. Although this book in the series had much more action and at times I had to go back and reread sections cause I felt I missed something. I really enjoyed the book and cant wait for the next. Action, adventure, beyond death, and big strong dragons, what's not to love.

Valentina was brought back from death by Queen Titania to be a vengeance demon. Grant is a magical dragon in search of his sister, who was taken from Titania’s court. In exchange for Grant leaving her alone Titania gives him Val’s binding ring and he takes Val with him. They agree to work together to return his sister and along the way discover Val can fight the Devourer, an ancient evil that seeks to destroy both the dragons and the fairies, or shen. They learn together about what Val is and what she can do as well as about what they can be together. I missed the first two books in this series so I didn’t know all the backstory but I still greatly enjoyed the story. Voluntarily reviewed.

This was a fun and quick paranormal romance about a demon of death (?!?) and a dragon with an agenda for vengeance. Is he using her or will he set her free?
I enjoyed this book and the plot, though there were some extraneous parts that I didn't think were necessary (like the some of the scene in the car at the beginning of the book). It's frustrating, also, that it is never quite clear what Val is, though at the end they given you a definition. I still don't know what that intails.

Val has died and brought back then claim by a dragon who now haTitania brought Val back from death but is attacked by a dragon who claims her as part of restoring balance. Titania gives him a ring to control her leaving her still enslaved. Dragon shifter Grant is trying to find his sister and hopes Val can help but he has no control over her powers so he must use the ring to limit what she does. This is a complex paranormal action romance to relax and enjoy.

I absolutely loved this story of Grant and Val. Grant wants to kill the one who kidnapped his sister and Val just wants to die again for the final time. I couldn't stop reading this book. I needed to find out what happened and if and how Grant and Val grew closer. It was nice to visit with characters from previous stories. I loved the angst ridden characters and the incredible story line. Hot dragons and supernatural characters made for an entertaining read. I can't wait to read the next book.

A woman reborn to be the "Demon of Vengance", in servitude to Queen Titania of the Fae is unhappy with her life. She sees her chance when a dragon is looking for his sister at the court and threatens everyone there.
Together they set out to find the sister - and of course - develop feelings for each other.
The story is predictable to some degree, but still an interesting read with an unusual mix of characters, which makes it fun and enjoyable to read.

Good read

This was a pretty good read.
A little confusing because it goes back and forward with her past but doesn’t elaborate and that is what I was more intrigued about. I think it needed to have more of a building between Grant and Val. It was pretty much she stayed at a house with Grant one day, and was in love. She shouldn’t trust him because she knew what that led to, yet... she trusts him.
Could have been better, it was just missing ..... stuff. 🤷🏼‍♀️
I did like the book though. It was different.

This book is the perfect example of how fate works in mysterious ways. Dragon shifter Grant was not meant for a destined mate and yet fate set him in Valentina's path. Their mutual attraction is so blazingly apparent that all I want is for them to conquer their demons and be together in love. But Valentina has a death wish for herself and can not see themselves together. Finding their way to each other is a rocky and deadly path that is worth agonizing over. Great storytelling!

This is my first time reading this author and this series. I was a bit lost due to not reading the other books, but overall they story was good. Val has to die over and over again. She wants it to stop but she has a purpose. She doesn't know what it that is until Grant walks into her life. You will be turing the pages till the end to see what happens next.

This was a real intense story but it was also very dark and confusing start to the story as well. There action galore, magic, and many other things to keep you hooked from beginning to end. Overall a enjoyable and entertaining read looking forward to seeing what else is in store for this series. Yep! It’s a winner. This is the third(?) book in the series and since I’ve read the other two can’t comment on whether it works as a stand-alone. In any case, the first two are worth reading.

Great characters with lots of heat and an uphill battle against evil. Fast and easy read, you’ll enjoy seeing the characters learn to work together. She’s no wimp which is good because he is a dragon shifter. There is magic and some pay back. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).

I really liked even though this is part of a series you can easily read it as a stand alone. You can really feel Val's struggle with what she believes she wants vs what she might want, while you see Grant try and draw her out to see who and what she is as well as try not to care for her. I haven't read the previous book but I will be now!!

By the end of this book I was totally in love with Grant. Val has had one tough life and death or almost death. And things get even more complicated as the book goes along. We really get to see who she is and values. Even when she should be wanting vengeance she never takes it. She also grows along the way as well does one dragon in white. Expect a lot of adventure and action as the two take on their demons.

I had to recheck the book that it is a paranormal story, the inward thoughts of Val bordered on the philosophical and makes you delved deeper into yourself with her, analyzing things, finding out who you are, and so on. One bright light to all her musings, is Grant, her bonded mate who always has her back.

This book is filled with action, magic, and many small battles culminating in one large battle. This story was emotion filled. It was exciting, dramatic, revengeful, loving, lust and battles to overcome. You start with forced service and hope to end with a rescue? Throw in a dragon set on revenge and family drama, and you've got yourself a great book. This is a must read.

Third book in the mini-series and this one is a little bit different than the first two bringing some new faces into the story. Val was the friend that Lana was trying to save in the last book, but ultimately had to kill to save her from The Devourer. But the Fairy Queen Titania uses her Shen magic to resurrect her to serve as a vengeance demon and then barters her away to a dragon to use to get his sister back from The Angel of Death. Grant is a very old and very powerful dragon set on revenge. When he meets Val, her inner strength and view of vengeance not to mention the attraction her feels towards her begins to thaw his heart. But Val isn't exactly what everyone thinks she is, and she just might end up being the key to defeating The Devourer once and for all. If you read the previous stories in this series you'll see some familiar faces in this story in addition to Val and Grant. It's full of action and fast-paced with some surprising twists plus a sizzling romance full of a wide range of emotions.

We continue the series with an angel of death. Is she alive? Only partially here? and she meets a dragon bent on revenge. Read the beginning slowly or its easy to get lost. No skimming here. SPOILER She's not sure what she is or what her magic is but she can kill parts of the devourer that we've met in other books. In fact, its what killed her. She meets a dragon and they travel together. She helps him with the life is not only about revenge angle and he helps her navigate this new normal for her. I found that it wrapped everything up really quickly at the end. The ending was not what I expected. I will continue to look for more of this authors series, but I still have to say book one was my favorite.

New to me author...
I am just reading this series and it's book three.
However, with that being said this is one fantastic story.
A Fairy? or is she? Holding the Angel of Death hostage?
And the big bad Dragon comes to the save the day? Well maybe not.
I loved Grant and once he gets Val to open up she is likable.
You get a bit of everything from high impact action, suspense and oh yea a bit of hotness too... Everything a paranormal book lover loves to read. Grab it and find out.
