Armed with knowledge that could change everything for humankind, Elle must confront the king.
But it's the Godmother who now poses the greatest threat. Can Elle and Dex stop her from taking control of the kingdom?

CITY OF WISHES is an urban fantasy serialized retelling of Cinderella. This is episode 6.
~ ~ ~
In a world of fae, vampires and shifters, where wishes can be bought and bargained for, Elle is human, bound to her stepmother by a slave charm. Her only hope at freedom is to wish for it. But the Godmother rules the illegal wish trade, and the price she demands is steep. Is Elle willing to pay it?
Once upon a time, in a land not so far away, a young science graduate named Rachel found that the real world wasn't a place she wanted to inhabit all the time. So she decided to escape into the magical realms that had occupied her mind since childhood.
Armed with a vivid imagination, Rachel spends her days conjuring up fantastical worlds filled with adventure, romance, and plot twists, where readers can escape the real world along with her.
Rachel lives in Cape Town, South Africa, with her husband, two little wildlings, and three fur-babies.
I can always appreciate a good happily ever after, and I loved this one. The twist at the end was honestly unexpected, it somewhat didn't make sense, there's a lot of loose ends, but I liked it enough to ignore it. Also that epilogue was filled with cute dialogue and it made me very happy!
What a beautiful conclusion to this amazing series! Now that it’s done, I confirm what I said in the review of the first episode: this is one of my favorite retelling! Such a cute, fun, quick story to read in little bites! I adored it! I loved how everything came together in this final chapter, starting with Elle’s memory-taking abilities and ending with the Godmother’s motives—Godmother, who, I dare say, is my favorite character of the series. She’s so complex and impossible to predict! I wouldn’t mind having another story with her in it. (Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, Rachel!) And I also got an adorable dance scene at the end! I feel like I could… you know, dance!
The City of Wishes series was a very short set of episodic novels, which is really my only complaint. I wish these six novels had been longer, or at least combined to make two or three novels. These books ranged from one-hundred to two-hundred pages (and sometimes even less), so their length was a bit disappointing.
The first three novels in the City of Wishes series are FREE on Amazon Kindle!
Despite my love for happy endings (and this is Cinderella, after all!), I am just not a big fan of how things turned out since book 5. The quest made little sense and even though the characters asked relevant questions, the most common answer we got was "Life is not fair", yet it does not really explain the mechanics of how things work.
The story ties everything with a pretty bow, but I honestly expected a bit more on the evil stepmother side. A little more backstory, a little more development, a little more something! We were told Salvia loved her father and despite everything that went down, it makes no sense to abuse her biological daughter as well this much. Which brings me to the next point of Sienna just disappearing without ever making an appearance in front of Elle, even when things were finally alright.
Then you have the king and the patched up solution they found to mitigate his hate (ignoring somehow all the atrocities that he has commited) and of course, my favorite character, the Godmother, who more or less kept beating the same drum and could get away with situations that made no sense for her without feeling everything was amiss.
All in all, a very enjoyable series which I think went a bit too far in its own universe and the explanations were either lacking or not existing, but I would definitely read it again if I could.
The Everafter Wish is the last episode of City of Wishes, and deals with the aftermath of Elle's life changing quest. I did like the closure to Elle's family life, though I wish there was a bit more to Elle's sister than what we got at the epilogue. The characters motivations come together, and the last few chapters seem to hint at a possible sequel hook for future stories in this world. Though I was surprised in how one major problem was resolved, but I was satisfied and fit. The characters all have their proper closure and I was happy where they ended up. The end of a good serial and highly recommend all of the episodes.
Overall enjoyable story, everything just seemed rushed and the ending was too abrupt. The loose ends were hastily & unsatisfactorily tied up so I’m a little disappointed. There was so much more that could have happened & been explained but just when the truth is revealed to all other races, we’re slapped with an epilogue.
I was still waiting for Elle to use her magic and finally contribute something but again, she barely does anything. It seems as though she did more when she had no magic. However, I will say that this series overall is a 4 star read.
Finished City of Wishes and totally recommend this series!!
This is a six book series Cinderella retail, with an amazing female leading character and a very good world build for such short books (average 100 pages per book).
Wow what a crazy ride this entire story has been and I have enjoyed all of it. The characters are so fun and relatable and I even love the "evil" God mother. This last episode has been as twisty as the rest of the story and a great end to the story.
Plus Rachel's writing is just so good, light and easy to read while still creating vivid imagery and twisty turny tales!
you should 100% read this series to it just too good.
A great finishing story for this series. Very well written with an excellent twist. I just wish there was more written here for certain parts, some scenes would have been amazing with a few more paragraphs. I hope to read more from the author, and if ever these characters were to pop up again in another series I would jump at the chance to read.
A perfect ending to this fantastic fairytale retelling. I absolutely loved how unpredictable and original the story was. The characters were wonderful to read and I thoroughly enjoyed their journey.
The Everafter Wish is the last episode in the City Of Wishes serie, a Cinderella retelling by Rachel Morgan. I really loved this series and the authors writing style.
So I read all 6 parts (the whole book) of city of wishes in one day. I literally couldn’t put it down!! Rachel Morgan is one of my top favorite authors at this point. I have been reading her Creepy Hallow Series over the past two weeks and so I decided to give this series a try too. Although there is not as much lead up to sexual tension between the characters, the bubbly feeling I get when Elle and Dec interact with each other is undeniably there! The book had me giggling, giddy, and sitting on the edge of my seat as I flipped page after page!
This part was definitely my favorite for the character development for all the characters in the book.
Overall, all 6 parts are WAY more child friendly than Creepy Hallow Series! Plus, this book is a wonderful spin on Cinderella that connects all the dots that Disneys version has you scratching your head at… such as “why didn’t Cinderella simply just walk out the door”, well, in Rachel Morgan’s version, Elle LITERALLY can’t.
My favorite quote:
“I think I love you, so please don’t die,” he kissed her cheek then straightened and let go of her hand, “I’m serious.”
Then he turned and hurried away with the guard.
I think I love you. I think I love you?!
Okay. They were going to have a serious chat about Dexs timing when this was all over because, as far as Elle was concerned, his was terrible.
Reading all 6 novellas felt vary much like watching a tv series. Each part was anywhere from 2-3 hours in length for normal to slow readers and for faster readers... Well, let me just say you will want to have all six.
This interruption was interesting, it was different it was fresh! I personally would like and can see this being a TV series on the CW network since this would fit right in with Vampire Diaries, Green Arrow and such on there.
The world is fun, the Fairy Godmother being more like the Godfather is something I LOVED and want to see more of!
I can see her make a follow up story to this with how it ended and would be interested in reading it, honestly she could make so many follow up stories since there is so much in this world that wasn't explored! But what I would REALY love, is to read more about Dex's BF and Ella's Stepsister. I think one with both or a story for each one would be fun.
An amazing end to the series. It’s bittersweet that it’s ended. I love how far Elle has come since being a slave. Now she’s engaged to the prince and she has magic! She’s started to change the world they live in and freed the vampires from the godmother. Where is the godmother? Hopefully she turns up in another story but I’m not sure. I hope the Dex takes over from the king. And that gift from Sienna at the end, I love her!! I hope we get to see Sienna again. I hope Sienna is well and living a good life. I hate Salvia and I hope she’s rotting knowing that Elle is engaged to the Prince.
This was an amazing and quick read. So fast paced and a lot of intrigue to keep you going. I was never bored at any point and though the stories were so well written and paced. If anything I would want more chapters! I hope Elle manages to control her memory taking abilities and that she can access the memories she has taken. She also freed Liana, Dex’s nanny. That whole section being in the prison was awesome.

There were no surprises, it was a retelling, there couldn't have been anything big at the end but it finished in a way that there are a few dangling ropes to create more stories.
I wasn't too impressed with their solution for the King and how that all went down, but again, this is a retelling and it has been pretty kid friendly so far so this was acceptable.
I didn't really like the Godmother spoon-feeding us the answers. To the readers it should have been obvious what the Godmother was doing, if not the why, and Elle didn't believe or get it anyway.
All in all, I felt that this was not a waste of a read and I will recommend it if someone asks about it.
Well then... Unexpected. Twisty. And there is a HEA despite everything.
My suspicions about the fairy godmother proved correct and added so much to her character. It also means a re-read might be in order to see how she sets everything up over the course of the series, since the grand reveal clarified a lot of small hints from earlier in the series.
It's a sweet ending to a fun series and definitely feels satisfying now we've reached the end. And this is most definitely the most elaborate and unusual Cinderella reworking I've read so far. Enjoyed it and look forward to exploring other reads by this author.
In all honesty I think the series should have ended after the last episode. It turns out the King knew of the quest and was purposely hiding it because of his hatred of humans. That means it’s time to ouster the king. This ending was thoroughly predictable. It was a nice end to the series, but it was not needed. I think it would have been better ended at the end of the starlight quest.
OMG, I am so glad I started reading City of Wishes and dare I say I enjoyed it, every bit of it. So glad that Sienna gained her freedom also. The Godmother’s plans are twisted but for better. I honestly did not expect that plot twist at the end. This is the second series of Rachel Morgan’s books I’m reading and all I can say is I love her magical world and realms.
Elle's new magic lands her in deep trouble with the king, while the Godmother gathers her new vampire army to take over the kingdom. Elle & Dex have to choose which catastrophe to focus on while hoping for their happily ever after.
I really enjoyed the series as a whole, even if there were a lot of loose threads and the ending was super cheesy.
I...Oh my god! I so not want this series to be over!!! I just want to be with them 😂😂😭😭 I loved it ! I was so not ready for this ending and for the plot to untangle this way! This was twisted but at the same time genius!! Loved loved loved it. I highly recommend this series!
I really liked the first couple of novellas in this series but by this one, I think the story has been going for too long. Also, I'm really wondering by now how you can have mobile phones, cars etc in a world where the fae have always ruled and humans have always been the underdog.
This book, as was the whole series, was a nice, easy distraction while doing other things. I listened to the audiobook while I sewed and cleaned. It provided enough fun twists on the classic fairy tale to keep me entertained, while still being light enough to endure not having 100% of my attention.
