Payne's Day of Want series has been a wonderful new find for me thus far. Book Four- Uprising is no less a surprise and entertaining novel. You must read books 1-3 prior to engaging in this story to truly see the struggle, lack of time and how quickly civilization will fall.
In Uprising, we see Maddie step forward again as a formidable leader when local judge and leader puts his faith in a young girl to hold one of largest prisons in town. Maddie shows intense strength, knowledge and is fearless as the navigate these criminals with the help of her family and Jacob Rawlings, a new character with this novel.
I really struggled with the prison storyline. While it's heart thumping and engaging it seemed a little out of character for Greg Langston and his military background to pick a safe spot so close to such a terrible prison. However, that doesn't dilute the storyline Payne creates. Lots of senseless waste in this novel, however it really bring forth the urgency of survival against not only evil people but also lack of government help.

The majority of this fourth book is consumed with trying to manage the nearby prison population. It is a very difficult prospect but they seem to rely on the leadership of 18 year old Maddie. Maddie is also very immature with a volatile emotional temperament, so it is hard to reconcile these two views of Maddie. I also find her fairly unlikable. When the story focuses on trying to build the cabin and farm community and the challenges of being attacked by a vindictive family and as well as a greedy townspeople, the story is more interesting. While I don't have too many hopes that Maddie will cease to be a major character, I will likely read the next book to see what happens and hope that she improves.

Best since book 1

The will to get up again after loss and then to get through the suck were major themes in this book. Nice to see Maddie making the decision to enjoy life and growing up some. The relationship felt shallow though. Also, we get useful prepper information again, probably had the most since the first book in the series.

Enjoyable read by TL pain. I am looking forward to the next book to see how the saga turns out.

This was a pretty good book. I would recommend it to anyone that is interesting dystopian or apocalyptic reads. My favorite part was when Maddie was reunited with Emma. Looking forward to the next in the series.

This is the fourth book in the series that I have read. They just keep getting better and better. I just want someone to take care of the rogue General and Guffey. The family is still fighting. More people join them, but more people die. This is really GREAT series. Ready to start on # 5.

You could play a drinking game with how many times the author uses the word "apocalypse"... if you want to have alcohol poisoning.

T.L. Payne's *Uprising* invites into a gripping postocalyptic world defined chaos and conflict. story revolves around Maddie Langston and her group's daring quest to guard a neglected prison filled with dangerous criminals. As society collapses and lawlessness reigns, Maddie and her companions must navigate not only the treacherous landscape outside but also the volatile dynamics within the prison walls.

Payne's world-building is immersive, painting a vivid picture of a society on the brink. The tension escalates as Maddie leads her group in a battle for survival against both external threats and the dangers posed by the inmates they are tasked with containing. The characters are well-developed, each bringing unique strengths and vulnerabilities that contribute to the depth of the narrative.

However, the book does exhibit some repetitiveness in certain sections. Some themes and situations echo throughout the story, occasionally affecting the pacing. Yet, the emotional stakes and the evolving relationships among the characters often overshadow these moments, ensuring that readers remain engaged with their journey.

Overall, *Uprising* by T.L. Payne is an exhilarating read that successfully combines action and introspection. Maddie Langston's leadership in a highly charged environment highlights themes of courage, sacrifice, and the complexity of human nature in desperate times. Despite its occasional lyrical loops, this novel is a compelling addition to the post-apocalyptic genre that will resonate with fans of thrilling narratives and stories of resilience.

Safety in Numbers

It is woven through each book so far... there is more safety in numbers. I’m exhausted after I read a few chapters... the suspense is so strong and it’s nerve wracking. But, as I contemplate the future I fear that so much of what TL Payne has written will come true. I’m a Bible Believer and I see so much of what is going on in the Word of God. I try to warn people of the disasters that may be coming. So many are oblivious to it all... Some have “an ear to hear” and so we prepare and we pray for wisdom and guidance from The Lord.

Stuff really does hit the fan!

There is attack and counter attack, even hints of soldiers having to fight soldiers because of the corruption of this in charge. Good people die or are murdered and even Maggie’s extended family must face loss. But there’s the gain of some as well, even a little romance. It will be interesting to see what happens next. I need my daily dose of adrenaline!

Book Four Is Awsome

Really a pleasure to read!
Maddy has turned into a badass!!! Amazing to look back at her simple statement that she doubted if she was strong enough to survive.
Her daddy taught her well. From becoming tough enough to help keep everyone safe from a prison to holding one of her own while he died. The emotional roller coaster
that all the people are going through.. It's A wonder if they can hold on.Winter is comming fast and there's A shortage of food!

Outstanding series

This series grabs you from the first page of book 1! Maddie and her family and friends are struggling to survive after an EMP event that takes out all electric and devices. People have turned violent as they struggle to survive. It is only because of Maddie's father that her family and close friends are somewhat prepared. Starting this series with book 1 is a must, but you may be binge reading it as both my husband and I are doing.

Action, action, action!

This book was definitely a page turner! The characters are one of a kind. Zach has learned to be a man, Maddie has applied the teachings from her Dad, and the guys? Well they seem like my brothers from another mother. This book will definitely leave you wanting more and more.

Exciting

Non-stop action! Quite an enjoyable storyline. Maddy and her family are trying to settle into a new life after an EMP, but nothing seems easy in their post-apocalyptic world. This is one of those series that doesn't feel forced to continue.

So good

I'd forgotten just how good this series is, I missed out on several notifications and found myself several books behind and struggling to remember who, what, when, where. It all came back quickly and I raced through this book. On to book 5.

Frightening and possible

This is such a realistic look at what could happen as many more of our enemies have nuclear weapons. Little is being done to prepare for what might be the inevitable. Well written and well developed characters. Great book.

Good book

I've come to the conclusion that if you get the book for free, there are typos. If you buy it, there is not. I'm glad the prison plot has wrapped up. Zach is getting very mature for his age. I'm glad Cooper and friends arrived. It's a good series. Enjoy!
