Hailey Jefferson doesn’t want a husband. Needing to escape her mother’s mortifying reputation, she decides to become a mail-order bride…but only on her terms. Giving her husband a trial marriage seems the perfect plan until she realizes he wants more.
Orphaned as a young boy, Alex Croft dreams of having his own family and figures a mail-order bride is the solution to his life’s void. Whether writing epic fantasy/paranormal, WWII, or historical western romance, Heidi Vanlandingham’s books are sweet, where characters are inspired to overcome life’s hardships and loving families build strong communities.
Heidi's words: I grew up near the panhandle of Oklahoma—what I claim is the “treeless armpit” of the state. While I dream of pines and mountains, my love of family keeps me here. My favorite things in life are laughter, in-depth talks with my son, fantasy-paranormal/western romance, music, and road trips.
Alex is so sweet, i felt sorry for him. Hailey has had a bad start to life and experiences with men so you can understand the way she feels but he is so kind and good for her, it annoyed me that she was still thinking of it all as temporary.
This is a sweet mail order bride love story written by Heidi Vanlandingham. She has done a great job with the plot and the characters. She has adventure and excitement on each and every page. She has included great sorrow and the discovery of liking someone, respect, acceptance of friends pasts and the dream of a loving future. You will enjoy discovering how Alex and Hailey find their happily ever after.
Hailey's past isn't pretty. As an escape, she marries Alex. Helping in their bookstore, she takes on a side job. She loves to bake. After a time, if it doesn't work out, she will pack up and live her dream on her own. This is a great stand along book. I didn't read the first book in this series.
Hailey is a super stubborn woman unwilling to share her past with her husband for fear of being rejected. I had to read to see how this would work out.
The turn of the Century Love Story.Great writing with characters that are likable and Believable. I really enjoyed this book.
