Dinoverse #2

Rexes & Robbers

Rate this book
65 Million Years Ago,
Dinosaurs walked the earth.

People think that a meteor or some super volcano wiped them all out, or that aliens saved them like a holy arc coming from the sky. Some think that they had their time and were selected for extinction.

The thing is, fossils only show those that died. . .

Dinosaurs still walk among us, hidden in human form, bidding their time until they’re able to reveal who they are. Humans are always placed at the top of the food chain.

Nothing could be further from the truth. . .

*********************************************************************
Rowena Wickham only wanted one thing: freedom.

But the Wild West is a brutal place filled with dinosaurs and outlaws. With no other option, Rowena became one of the very outlaws the West is ran by, and she made her own mark in the world.

With too many mouths to feed in her crew, the Free Outlaws, Rowena has no choice but to hit something big, the place that was rumored to be equal between dinosaurs and humans alike, Embertown. She never expected the bank owner to be a tyrannosaurus rex. She certainly never expected the same of the Sheriff.

But Rowena has a bigger problem. Not only is she dangerously attracted to the men she plans to rob, but Les ‘The Croc’ Chambers is headed towards Embertown, and Ro will do anything to escape his claws.

Rowena just has to rob the bank under the clever noses of Sheriff Bennett and Virgil King, and skip town before they notice.

Easier said than done.

**Rexes & Robbers is a ménage book within the Dinoverse and includes a tough outlaw and some sexy tyrannosaurus rex shifters. If bank robbery isn’t your thing, don’t worry, Ro has you covered. **

Kendra Moreno is secretly a spy but when she’s not dealing in secrets and espionage, you can find her writing her latest adventure. She lives in Texas where the summer days will make you melt, and southern charm comes free with every meal. She’s a recovering Road Rager (kind of) and slowly overcoming her Star Wars addiction (nope!), and she definitely didn’t pass on her addiction to her son (she did). She has one hellhound named Mayhem who got tired of guarding the Gates of Hell and now guards her home against monsters. She’s a geek, a mother, a scuba diver, a tyrannosaurus rex, and a wordsmith who sometimes switches out her pen for a sword.

If you see Kendra on the streets, don’t worry: you can distract her with talks about Kylo Ren or Loki.

I would happily read this one again, loved it. A little serious, a little silly and a whole lot to enjoy. Ro is an outlaw with a goal to keep everyone fed and warm through winter. She and her crew target a town to rob. The sheriff Boone and the bank owner King are both T-rexes that stand in her way. I wasn’t too keen on the past Croc chapters but the rest of it was great.

Just a heads up the women are seen as worthless in the wild west so plenty they aren’t allowed to do, as well as forced marriages etc etc. Other than the croc chapters its pretty light hearted with:-

Bad pick up lines:-
“You are what you eat, so darlin’, I could be you by morning.”

Dangerous flirting:-
She slid the knife she kept on her hip free, spun, and threw it before she had time to think.
She sniffed. “As if you could catch me.” His eyes flashed and he moved toward her again. “Is that a challenge?”

And making light of injuries:-
“The beauty of being a Rex is I don’t need my arms,” Boone answered earnestly, as if it was a simple fact.

Some F/F but not with MC. Sweet, a little violent. Would definitely read more about these three. Favourite character was King.

I'll start my review by stating that I've never read a Dino-shifter book before. I've never even heard about an author who has and at first, I wasn't sure what to expect. I want to assure those of you, who have your doubts about a Dino-shifter book, that this book is phenomenal. Seriously, it's one of the best menage romances I've ever read and the only thing that was different with this book compared to other books I've read was that the main love interests could turn into T-Rexes, which honestly was such a cool twist and added to the unique factor. It mixed two things I loved so much, dinosaurs and a captivating plot with romance mixed in, so if you have doubts because the shifters are dinosaurs, I assure you, it's just a element of the story and adds to the world immensely. We have dragon-shifters, Unicorn-shifters, fox-shifters etc, and now, we have dinosaur-shifters and I'm so excited to see this new element being introduced into my romances from now on <3

Okay, so this book is labeled #2 in the Dinoverse, but you don't have to read the first book in the Dinoverse before this one because each book is a standalone in the same world. These books will be released two at a time, from both the authors Kendra Moreno and Poppy Woods, and take place in various times in history. The first two books, Rexes & Robbers by Kendra Moreno and Dances With Raptors by Poppy Woods, each take place sometime in the past. This book, Rexes & Robbers, takes place in the Wild West, where we follow our heroine, Ro, who's an outlaw. Ro is tough, cutthroat, and fearless. But what I love is that, although she's an outlaw who's wicked with a gun, she also has a code and helps those without a voice.

The world was intriguing to me. I've never been a huge fan of westerns, just kind of not my thing--although, my grandfather used to watch them with me when I was a little girl, and since he loved them so much, I watched them regardless because it made him so happy--but I trust anything Kendra Moreno writes (she's phenomenal and has so much talent) so I picked it up without second thought. Also, the robbers element sold me a lot because I love a good story with thievery! I'm not going to lie, I cried during this book. Not because anything bad happened, but because it reminded me a lot of my grandfather and I know, without a doubt, he would have loved to hear about Ro and her adventures if he were still alive. The book was so true to the Wild West theme and I'm now more open to reading more Westerns, so I got to thank the author for opening my mind to more stories in this genre and bringing back such fond memories.

This is why I love this author's writing so much. She can take something, like dinosaurs, and make it a swoon-worthy romance that just captures my heart so completely. She had me so invested in all the characters, not just the main heroes, and I even shouted with triumph when one of the characters--an older dino-shifter--got a new cane after his old one almost broke. A CANE PEOPLE! I don't know another author who makes me care about characters so much that I worry about such a small detail about them but you best believe I was jumping for joy when the author pimped out my man with a new cane LOL

I highly, highly recommend this book! If you love swoon-worthy men, a kick-a** outlaw who isn't afraid to get her hands dirty protecting those she loves, great LGBTQ+ rep, and a pimping old man with a cane, this book is for you! Oh, and if you didn't realize it from my review, there's dinosaurs in this book! Hot-as-f*ck dinosaurs that will steal your heart. Well, if Ro doesn't steal it first <3 she is an outlaw, after-all.

I had mixed emotions about this book as I wouldn’t consider myself a fan of RH. Kendra asked me to give her story a go and as I’ve loved her Sons of Wonderland series so much I thought I should at least try it.

It gave me ALL the feels;
anger as the Wild West is very male dominated;
love for Ro as she is a strong, beautiful and kickass heroine;
anxiety for everyone as I had no idea where the plot was going till the very end (well played Kendra); and
sexy! Wow - I loved the shifter elements and the steamy scenes were HOT!

I’m glad I gave this genre a go, new experiences are good!

The plot is riveting, you really don’t know what is going to happen at the end.

The characters are fabulous - well developed and either loveable or not!

Thank you Kendra. I loved dinosaurs as a kid, I have a whole new appreciation for them now! ❤️

At first I was hesitant and not sure if I would like reading about dinosaurs or not...but omg this book had me hooked from prologue on and i devoured it in one night!
The main character Rowena is amazing and strong as she stands up to a "Men Rights Only" world by forming a ban of outlaws consisting of men, women, children, and dinosaurs that society didn't recognize as having a place. I could go on and on but no spoilers!!

Stay weird indeed.

Just like the Dinoverse book before, this book has a great plot, fierce FMC and sexy Dino mates. The idea of the dinoverse is certainly different but interesting. The idea of prehistoric animals in the Wild West using modern language is brilliant and sometimes disconcerting but always fun.

I love dinosaurs, paranormal romance and more than one lover, this book checked every box for me. Ro is a strong female lead who isn’t out there looking for love, I don’t think it was really even on her mind before she stumbled onto her Rexes. I loved her and her men. I also loved her scaly bestie, Clem. I thought it was amazing to see a sapphic bestie. I dragged my feet reading this book, not because there was anything wrong but because I didn’t want it to end! I needed another 900 pages. I truly hope the authors continue the series.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Before this I had no idea that I needed to see dinosaur shifters in the Wild West. Ro and Clem are great female leads, full of sass and too smart for their own good sometimes. King and Boone are great love interest, they're different in their approach to Ro but equal in intensity. I highly recommend you give this book a try! There are great heists, interesting side characters, and a beautiful desert to be conquered.

It is the Wild West with dinosaurs!
Ro is the leader of the Free Outlaws (an outlaw group comprised of dinosaur shifters and humans) and right now they need to hit something big to survive winter. The bank in Embertown is going to be that "something". Now she just needs to distract the sheriff and the owner of the bank who both happen to be tyrannosaurus rex shifters long enough for her crew to hit the bank and scram before The Croc comes to town.
A very interesting twist on a wild west menage. When outlaws meet dinosaurs.

Better than the first one in this series

Even if it has less steam. Liked the story but wish it would've gone more in to les' point of view, too. Wish this story had more scenes like the ending jail one, but it was a decent enough story and I liked that the sidekick got her (not detailed enough) fun, too

Very enjoyable great reading

I really enjoyed this book and loved the characters and how they came together. I am glad that Ro got back at Les for what he did to her and innocent people. I am glad that Rowena found some happiness with a couple of Rexes.I hope to read more.

Let me start by saying wow! This amazing book follows the other side of the wild west, a harsh environment where women and scalies are subjugated and abused. And then there is Ro and her Free Outlaws, a group of people and dinos trying to find a way and place to leave in peace and equality. There is some violence and some hot and steamy situations in the book.
It is quite ironic how they plan to achieve it though. Nevertheless, the never stop hoping and they work for their better tomorrow. And regardless of the general ugliness, Ro and her friends enjoy occasional moment and don’t let the life pass them by without living it.
The author brings her world closer with her vivid descriptions. I could almost taste the dust in my mouth, and the determination of Ro’s crew fighting for a better life. The characters are as amazing as the story itself. Ro, Clem, Boon, King, and so many more come to life as the author puts them forward with hes amazing storytelling skills.
There is also past, a lot of ugly past for many characters and the author decided to reveal Ro’s past to the fullest. The evolution of this character is so amazing, her strength, determination, compassion, complete lack of judgement, and the need to help others is awe inspiring. I can safely say that Ro is one of my favourite characters ever.
However, I can’t disregard the awesomeness of the rexes, as they are pure perfection, especially together. King and Boone are so different, yet they managed to form this unbreakable friendship, which benefits everyone around them. And when they converge over Ro, things get quite interesting and very hot.
The book was amazing in every possible way, the story, the world, the characters, the idea, and I loved it so much. As far as i am concerned, this series is a must read.
The adventure starts with Dances With Raptors (Dinoverse #1) by Poppy Woods, but the reading order is not important at this point, as long as you read them!

Rowena(Ro) is an outlaw that has been going strong for 7 years after being treat as less than because she was a woman. She is the head of the “Free Outlaws” and gives down trodden people a chance at a better life. When Ro realizes that there isn’t going to be enough money for the outlaws to make it through the winter she knows she has to make a big hit. She stumbles upon a town where dinosaurs and people walk side by side without animosity. The down side? There are 2 very attractive Tyrannosaurus rex shifters that make this haul extremely tricky. Not to mention that women and dinos alike seem to have more freedom in this town. After an unforeseen turn of events Ro finds herself standing with the Rexes to protect the town against a ghost from her past.

The sexual tension between Ro, Boone(the sheriff) and King(the bank owner) was so thick and I loved it. The sexy times were hot and the conversation and banter was always thrilling. This book had everything you could hope for; love, overwhelming emotion, action and a happy ending. I highly recommend it.

Kendra is one of my favorite authors and is on my auto buy list, even when she decides to geek out with Poppy Woods and write about Dino-shifters. Nevertheless, she did a fantastic job of making an unlikely animal group into a hot, drool worthy, and panty-dropping duo of fierce, T-Rex yumminess. This is a slow burn RH that builds nicely between two Rexes; Boone and King, and
Rowena, who is human. Once it heats up, it’s both hot and oddly enough, entertaining in a made-me-laugh-out-loud way. True to form, Ro is no shrinking violet. She’s a successful gun toting, tough as nails robber in the Wild West, back when women had no rights to anything. She’s fighting against the system and it’s very easy to root for her throughout this book. She’s got a crew to feed and look out for and she does it with determination and love, wearing the mantle of leadership far better than most in this world. I went into the Dinoverse skeptical, but am now a true convert.

I loved this the Dino shifters is a new one to me but I can see it being one of my favorites. To is a great heroine in a wild West male dominated world but this town she finds herself in is not like that she is an outlaw and was going to do one last bank robbery before her enemy Les catches up with her. She meets up with the sheriff Boone and King the bank owner and is attracted to both. I usually don't like RH but this one was great.
I highly recommend.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

Wow this is a journey to the Wild West that I really enjoyed. Kendra has out done her self again. This book is well written, a fast read, fun, full of adventure, action, and lots of steamy. You have a great cast of characters, and a world that seems like you are right there with them. Find out how Ro and her Rex's do, see if she can tame them. This is a must, as you travel back in time and see just how the west was one. Can't wait till the next one. Hope you enjoy.

Give me all the Dinos!

God, what to say about this lovely amazing book that I never even knew I needed until I found it. This is the second book in the Dinoverse series and it’s just as amazing as the first! I love that Kendra Moreno included so many different species of dinosaurs! I had a blast googling them as I read. I’ll just be over here impatiently waiting for the next books...😀

This is a really fun book. The characters are likable and the western world was a fun place to visit. I didn’t find the story line to be quite as captivating as her Sons of Wonderland series but the dino shifters are really a great idea and I’m looking forward to reading more of the series in the future :)
