La petite Bédéthèque des Savoirs #28

La petite Bédéthèque des Savoirs - tome 28 - Le Burn out

Rate this book

Originally written for Graphic Librarians bookstagram:

Ah, I love summer vacations. They are good, long, and healing, and I disconnect from my everyday life and spend my time however I want. In my case, it means spending time with my daughter and girlfriend, family, friends, travelling, and eating too much.

In this time of deep relaxation, I thought it would be cool to read a serious book about some problem and learn about it. And Le Burn Out somehow came into my hands.

I have experienced burnout in the past. I think. Some close people in my life experienced it. But what is it exactly? How does it happen? I don’t know.

But not anymore. A French sociologist, Danièle Linhart, wrote a short, concise, and simple book that defines the concept of burnout and gives a short history of how it all started, evolved, and is now thriving. All the complicated concepts like lean management, benchmarking, new public management, and others are brought to life by the colourful and crazy illustrations of Zoé Thouron without making you feel scared, angry, bored, or demotivated.

For me, it was interesting to read about some factors contributing to burnout and to reflect on my work actions and routines. But this book is not a self-help book. It doesn’t give you the answers to how to fix burnout. It informs you about the situation, and it’s on you to find the answer for yourself because each person is different.

For me, it’s interesting to see how this book will influence me and whether I will still be fresh next year on my summer vacation. The objective is to be as rested and peaceful as possible before vacations, so in that way I can profit even more !:D
