Blythe Baker is a thirty-something bottle redhead from the South Central part of the country. When she’s not slinging words and creating new worlds and characters, she’s acting as chauffeur to her children and head groomer to her household of beloved pets.

no murder until 57% into the book

and the killer was obvious. and this family is jinxed. and if those 3 things are given, why not, at least, have better descriptions of the clothing?!

Like all the books in this series, I figured out 'whodunnit' long before Rose did. The other storylines in the books were enjoyable to read, however, so it didn't bother me.

As I read this series, I wondered if--and how--Rose would come clean with the Beckingham's regarding her true identity. Once events made the confession inevitable, I had a sinking feeling that I knew exactly how it play out, and fervently hoped I was mistaken.

Unfortunately, my guess was correct. The entire situation was completely unbelievable.

This seems to be the final book in the series, so I expected a proper resolution (one way or the other) regarding the Rose/Achilles storyline. Yeah... that didn't happen.

The book abruptly ends with .

Sometimes it works well to leave something to the reader's imagination, but this wasn't one of those times. I really needed that payoff after the disappointing way Rose's true identity reveal was handled... but alas, it didn't happen.

One star automatically deducted from the rating as a result of these two issues. If it wasn't for the fact that the murder in this book was accomplished in a particularly interesting way, I probably would have only given this book one star.

Disappointments and easily solved mysteries aside, I found the overall series enjoyable to read. I was in the mood for something light and relaxing to read, and I got that with these books.

This is the final Rose Beckingham book in the series. The family is adither over the wedding of Catherine and Charles at the Somerset mansion where brother Edward had murdered another man. A distant aunt comes for the wedding, stays at the mansion with her caretaker grandson Nicholas, makes a real pain of herself, and then dies mysteriously. The Ashton family didn't need another death at the home, and life becomes even tenser than before. Rose's reputation preceeds her, and Nichlas looks to Rose for help in figuring out what happened. The events that follow wrap up the series nicely.

An adventureous lady

It is true that Rose has many travels and adventures. Unfortunately it also didn't allow much bonding with family or me. I didn't feel part of he new family. Descriptions of the clothes of the period were lightly mentioned. The places she traveled to were without any details. I had looked forward to seeing them through her eyes. That did not happen. In other words I wouldn't recommend this to regular cozy readers, sorry.

007, eat your heart out

Blythe Baker does it again! The Rose Buckingham Murder Mysteries is so well developed, suspenseful, and exciting that I am sad that I read the series so quickly. From beginning - a poor survivor of a horrible bombing - to end the transitions are smooth, consistent and surprising. Mix a little Holmes with a bit of Bond and you've got an amazing experience to share when reading a post-Great War series.

Lovely series of mysteries

I very much enjoyed this series of books. Although Rose/Nellie's character had me shouting at the pages lol because the murderers were quite obvious & she kept making mistakes she was still a lively & sympathetic woman.

Highly recommend the whole series which I had read in a week!

A Lovely Ending

This is a really good book. A little more predictable than the others in the series, but still quite enjoyable. I guess I will have to begin the "Alice" series now.

Really good

A really good series of books. Rose Beckingham has secrets and starting from the first book you find out some of what she is capable of. Some of Rose's escapades carry on though the series of books. I really enjoyed reading them.

A great series..... read all of them!!

This is a unusual addition to the genre of British Cozy. It has interesting murders and
all the other elements that you expect. The
uniqueness are the international settings : Morocco, London, New York City, India etc.
which are important “characters” in each book. They are a fun, interesting and addictive reads.

An eventful week leads up to Catherine's wedding and she gets more stressed out every day. Lady Ashton has her hands full trying to keep Catherine calm, dealing with a houseful of guests, and the problems that come up. When an elderly aunt, whom nobody likes, falls over dead in front of the whole family secrets come out. The police say it's murder. Who killed her and why? Rose says she will check into it. What does she find? Will she figure out who the killer is? Will she be able to prove it? Someone finds out who Rose really is. Who discovers Rose's secret? Will Rose tell the family or will she convince that person to keep quiet? The plot is well constructed. I love this series. There is mystery, humor, and love. I recommend it.
I voluntarily received a copy of this book and I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinion is entirely my own.

A Wedding and a Murder

No sex
No violence
No objectionable language
Suitable for teens - adults

Rose's cousin Catherine is about to marry Charles, arguably the best choice she's ever made. Relatives by the score are descending upon the family home, and of course Rose does not really know the vast majority of them because she's not really Rose Beckingham. Her teenage "cousin," Alice, believing it's been years and years since Rose has seen any of them, helps her out with whispers of names and relevant details. Can Alice remain unsuspicious of Rose's lack of memory, unable to place ANY of them? Really? Even those with whom she supposedly spent extended amounts of time?

Then wouldn't you know it, with a houseful of guests (suspects) someone is murdered. Catherine is devastated - can the marriage go through? Emotions run high.

Fast, light reading.

Unlikely happy ending to the book - possibly series?

I have to say the continuity in this series is there - Baker acknowledges events have happened that would change some characters' behaviors.

If the series is ending, it has come full circle with this story returning the family to their country estate and the scene of the third book where

SPOILER

"Rose's " cousin committed murder and she catches him.

This mystery was instantly solveable from the moment the victim was introduced.

The saccharine ending was implausible to me. Not a single moment of betrayal was expressed, which I find unbelievable.
