I agree with some of the other reviewers who've said that although this is book 5 I don't think you'd feel lost reading this one without reading the others, although you'd have missed out on how Mary and Kurt met and fell in love.

The story opens with Mary and Kurt deciding on a wedding date and proceeds with all that has to be done. Mary's a simple girl who grew up on a mountain, and although Kurt is a very wealthy man, he just wants whatever makes Mary happy. The wedding plans start to get away from Mary--she's trying to please everyone. These two have a lot to figure out as their backgrounds are very different.

This story reminded me of the old TV show from the mid 60's, Green Acres, but in reverse. In the TV show the husband and wife leave New York City when the husband buys a farm in a small town. It's the husband's idea and his city-loving wife goes with him. Mary loves Maplewood and doesn't want to live in Phoenix; Kurt doesn't have calluses on his hands from manual labor and doesn't know if he fits in with Mary's brothers and dad.

I know these two went fairly quickly from dating to being engaged, but thought some of the things Kurt finally told Mary should have been addressed before they became engaged--like his upbringing. I also know the stress of planning a wedding but it seemed it really got to Mary when she and Kurt had the big argument the weekend of their bachelor/bachelorette "parties". The man put himself completely out of his element to get to know her dad and brothers, and help fix up the lodge for the wedding, and it didn't seem to be enough for her because he isn't that kind of guy--which she knew when she met him!! Thankfully she came to her senses in time. Kurt also came to his senses as far as letting his investors tell him where he had to live in order to run his business.

I like these characters and enjoy watching them grow, and figure out what they can compromise on and what's too important to them to back down on. Hopefully Mary and Kurt will have many happy years in Maplewood.

This is such a sweet series, but I don't think a reader would be lost starting with this one. Yes, the backstory to Kurt and Mary's romance makes it that much better to know, because you realize that it's not always a happily-ever-after once the book ends, but there are still issues to work through. Relationships can be difficult, especially when two people from such opposite worlds are trying to merge onto common ground. Bromke does a great job of showing these differences and allowing the reader into the lives of these characters for a time.

Love knows no bounds, no incomes, and no lifestyles, as is apparent with Kurt and Mary. I enjoyed watching them figure things out, as they finally lock down a wedding date and deal with expectations, hopes, and dreams. I grew to love Kurt and Mary and was excited to read more about their story.

Content: mild romance

I really enjoyed parts of this well written book but am not sure if it was a mistake not having read the previous books. This started in the middle of Mary and Kurtz relationship. They are total opposites. Mary a mountain girl running a lodge she has practically rebuilt herself and Kurt is a billionaire tech mogul who is no good with his hands. Mary is trying to tie Kurt down to a wedding date but when she does nothing seems good enough for her. She sends a lot of time bemoaning the fact that
Kurt is nothing like her father and brothers. He has agreed to move into a home he is having purpose built near Mary's family and move his office there to work from home. . When it turns out that this is not going to work and he tries to get Mary to move into the city or a least split their time between the two she accuses him of being selfish and they fall out. Mary really annoyed me in parts coming across as the really selfish person. Perhaps if I had known more of their story from the previous books I would have understood her more. Everything worked out in the end and I am glad I read it.

Overcoming Wedding Jitters

This book was Book 4 in the Maplewood Sisters Series. Not having read the previous books in the series didn't take away from this story for me. I probably would have gotten a little more out of it though if I had read the previous books.
Mary Delaney and Kurt Cutler are engaged and finally planning a wedding date. The two come from very different backgrounds : Mary grew up on a mountain with a family that is good with working with their hands. Kurt is a billionaire involved in computers and technology who comes from a big city background.
Can these two work out their differences as they deal with wedding plans and situations with both their jobs?

Kurt Cutler a billionaire businessman found his soul mate in sweet Mary Delaney, a small town girl with small town dreams. The question is how far are they willing to compromise. Kurt is having problems moving his booming tech business to Maplewood Mountain because it is so far behind in the technology he requires and how ardently the board is against the move. She does not want to leave her mountain home and her family and live in the city where she does not feel like herself.

This is the last of the four sister romance series. It is a sweet contemporary romance about two people from different worlds and how the pressers of those worlds affect their choices. The characters are great, full of personality keeping you engaged in their outcome throughout the story. The storyline flows quickly and smoothly. The narrative is written so that you get both points of view, their feelings, insecurities and motivations. This story is heartwarming and filled with sacrifices that two people who love each other are willing to make for each other. If you like clean, pull at your heart strings romances, you will like this one.

Mary is ready to wed Kurt like yesterday. Soon the planning begins, it seems to take on a life of its own. Mary becomes overwhelmed and she begins to wonder if she is really ready to for into Kurt's life. He is also having the same thoughts. He had purchased a house near her inn so he can commute, but it doesn't look like that will work out. When things become more tender they both have to evaluate what they really want. Will there be an HEA for the two of them?

Great read, suspense and romance

Mary and Kurt fell in love but Kurt was a city business man and Mary was born and reared on the mountain and it was her wish to always live there.

Kurt builds a great house and plans to move to the mountains but his investors have other plans and this puts Kurt in a tough spot. Things get tense between Mary and Kurt .

Will the city boy be happy in the country?

I love this story of a love that brings city boy and country girl together. As the wedding nears, she wonders if he will ever truly be happy in the country or if they are they making a mistake. While compromises can be made, do they love each other enough to allow this wedding to go forward?

This is the fourth book in the series and while it can be read on its own if you have not read the previous books give them a go as they are just as good as this one. I really liked both Mary and Kurt's book it was a super addition with plenty of twists to keep you reading right until the very end. I really liked this series and would recommend it.

This is a good read. This has a good plot line that is well written. I however had an issue with how Mary allowed people to walk all over, including the people who claim they love her and only want the best. The conclusion resolved every thing but the journey made this hard to read.

Marriage, or Just the Wedding?

This book was an interesting/rare take on the genre given that it is after the engagement that the couple really have to figure things out.

I liked the realism of working though differences and compromise. Marriage is wonderful, but not always easy and blissful.

Great series, this one has a sweet small town feel and a tangled up and down romance. Mary and Kurt work through their issues and come out stronger. A small town girl and a big city tech, what more could you ask for?

Enjoyed reading this book! The couple was older, one a rich man, one a hometown girl. There were some misunderstandings but everything worked out in the end. I recommend this book to anyone who loves reading romance books.
