Ben Robinson's not crazy, but nobody's ever believed him.

Eleven years ago, he and Peter watched four of their friends die in that abandoned orphanage in their hometown, and they were the only ones who got out. Now, Ben’s worked too hard to separate himself from the terrifying scars of that night. He’s almost finished with his undergrad at Boston University. He and Peter are still friends. Life is pretty dull, and that's the way he likes it. Until the voices in his head come back just in time for Ben to face a new demon, in a new city, with a new hunger for dead bodies.

Then the nightmares return—only this time, Ben dreams of their friend Ian, who says he’s still trapped in the rotting house and needs their help to free him. With a dangerous, ancient book that probably shouldn’t exist and the help of a girl who can handle a lot more than a little horror, Ben and Peter have to go back to the one place they never wanted to see again. And Ben may have to finally embrace the parts of himself no sane person would dare to consider.

My name is Adam Dark.

I write horror and paranormal stories based on my vivid dreams. It's the best way that I know of to get the demons out and onto paper. I hope they haunt you and leave your heart pumping like they do me.

I established my first LLC. when I was ten years old. My friends were my first employees. Other than sharing my stories with others, I love making videos on YouTube. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth a million. I've directed two movies so far. You can find them on YouTube at Super Plus Toys.

Outside of writing, I spend most of my time playing guitar or golf. Travel is also high on my list of leisure activities. I've been to seven countries within Europe and plan to visit many more in the years to come. The richness of other cultures is thrilling!

I have a pet tarantula named Venom; a dog named Emma; and cat named Ellie. They are my secret confidants to the mysterious worlds I create. I have both an American and Danish passport. Feel free to ask me more about my Polish heritage.

Some other things I enjoy are rock n' roll, public speaking, broccoli (I know, isn't that weird!), school, and heart-wrenching horror movies that leave me clinging to the seat. While I love learning, I dislike homework, disrespectful and rude people, senseless drama, and bullies. There is no room for hatred. We only have one life to live; let's do it to the best that we can and treat everyone with love and kindness.

Oh man .... I just love my demony arse-kicking books! This was such a fun read and I just plowed right through it lickety split. Suspenseful, scary, quickly paced and, at times, funny this was a fabulous start to the series and one I know I'll read through till the end.

I recommend reading the two prequels to the series to get the full background story.

I received a free copy of this book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.

As a first book in a series this was a great introduction to a new series. It was exciting, scary, humorous and fun, all in one. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and the interaction between them. The authors gave the story through the eyes of Ben, who as a child of 11 witnessed the horror of seeing four of his friends die. Six young boys went into a haunted house, but only two came out.

Ben and his friend, Peter, survived that terrible experience which haunted them every day. They had to hide from it in order to live as much of an ordinary life as they could. But things did not stay quiet and Ben had a dream that one of their friends needed help to escape the terror of house. After relating his dream to Peter they realized they had to go help Ian, who they thought had died in that house. Peter, Ben, and Ben’s girlfriend, April set out to save Ian. Three frightened people went into that creepy, scary, haunted house. Would any of them come out?

The authors created an atmosphere of tension, fear, danger and humor that intrigued me immediately. Their characters were well-developed and interesting. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves mystery, spooky stories, and interesting premises. I look forward to more of these characters and their adventures.

This story was pretty good, after you get past the 50% mark. It started a tad slow for me, it had one good action sequence in the beginning, and then sorta stalled out, although I won’t get to critical as it’s the first in a series – so we are getting to know the world. The three main characters, or maybe I should say four, but that would give too much away, Ben, Pete and April sort of fall into this demon hunting thing. When Ben and Pete were kids, they witnessed 4 of their friends murdered in a haunted house, barely escaping. For years, doctors thought Ben was crazy, hearing voices, having realistic nightmares. Finally learning to cover it up, he got out from under doctors and made it to college. But then the voices start again…Ben and April attend a frat party that has a demon possessing a guy’s body, and lights the house on fire – with Ben doing his best to the voice in his head trying to help – by getting the drunk kids out. When he tells Pete he’s hearing voices again and having dreams that their friend Ian is still alive, they decide they need to go back to that house.

There is some good action once it gets moving, and some good dialog with enough humor to break up the horror of the demons and to keep it interesting. I think it’s a good start to a series and a good introduction to this world and characters.

This is the first book I have read but this team of authors, and, may I just say, I am impressed. I saw "urban fantasy", "demon hunter", "suspense" and thought, "what the heck, I'll give it a chance". And I am glad I did!

Imagine... 6 young boys go into the creepy old house and only 2 make it back out. Those two boys have lived with the memory of that night .. and more. Now, Ben is starting to hear "the voices" again and dreams about one of his lost friends. Do they dare go back to the place of their nightmares? Do they dare not?

The authors drew me into their storyline from the get go. I could actually visualize some of the scenes as if standing right next to the characters. I could not put this down until I finished it! Cannot wait for the series to continue!

Bravo!

Chosen: Demon Hunter is Book 1 in the Demon Hunter series written by Adam Dark & Matthew Thrush. This is a well written adventure that has an interesting storyline, excellent characters and is exciting, scary, humorous, and thrilling. Ben and Peter survived a demon in a haunted house while four of there friends perished violently. After many years trying to hide from that experience, Ben begins to have dreams that Ian, one of their friends, is still alive and trapped in the haunted house. Ben relates his dream to Peter and they decided they must go and rescue Ian. Ben, Alice (Ben's girlfriend), and Peter go back to the haunted house to help Ian escape. This is a very good read. Received an ARC from Booksprout and this is my voluntary and honest review.

A childhood tragedy. Demons haunting him. Trying to stay sane. Ben has been forced to see a psychiatrist, and take drugs. All because adults didn't believe that a demon took their friend, and that Ben hears voices in his head. Now as an adult he is studying theology and angelology. Trying to find a way to deal with his past, and possibly stop anything like that in the future. But a demon visits again and kills college students. And the voices in his head have come back. Can he and Peter confront their past and fight a demon so they have a future and a normal life? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

We have suspense, action, humor and more. I think Teens and young adults would get into this story. Peter and Ben lost friends in an abandon orphanage. No one believed them and left so many scars on Ben and Peter. After eleven years Ben is hearing voices again. April shows up in the picture now and has had a dream. Will Ben tell her everything? Will Peter help him? Can he find Ian who was one of the boys that died that night? What will April think and will she help them? The only reason I gave it 4 stars is it left out if Ben told the others the truth and what their feelings were.

Possession or Insanity?
.
Ben and Peter may have escaped the abandoned orphanage eleven years ago, but four of their friends did not and telling the story of what really happened left Ben on medication with a diagnosis of mental illness. Now the voices are back and they are being summoned back to the scene of their worst nightmares.

The writing in this book has a dark, but intriguing edginess. This fast-paced, paranormal novel has all the best elements – possessions, demons, lost souls – everything needed to grab and hold my interest from page one. I received an advance copy but my review is honest and voluntary. This is going to be a great series!

Rvcd an advanced reader copy for giving my two cents. We meet Ben and Peter who 11 yra ago watched 4 of their friends brutally murdered in front of them in a haunted house so to speak. Ben has been plagued with hearing voices, taking meds and deemed a schizophrenic bc of the orderal. Now in college, Ben has seen a demon at a frat party and helps save ppl from a house fire and now voices have come back. With his BFF Peter and his girl crush April (who has visions/dreams) they will embark on smtg out of the ordinary especially after Ben has dreams of Ian (one of his friends that died in that house) asking for help. What could possibly go wrong?

I’ve never read anything from this author before but I enjoyed this book. It was well written and the characters and story were well developed and well thought out. I liked the individual personalities and their relationship dynamics developed well over the book. The story had action and plenty of twists and turns. It had suspense, intrigue, emotion and a touch of romance. I look forward to the next book! I’d highly recommend this book if your looking for something a bit different!!

I have read the rest of the series, now I have read the first book and it makes a lot more since than before. It is a very good story. The plot is very different from other stories also. A whole new world opens up for us. I really like the story. I do feel bad for Ben in the way no one ever believed him when he was younger. It looks like he has learned how to cope with it now in a more positive way. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Chosen is the first book in the Demon Hunter series. We met Ben, Peter and April, college students, as they go back to the place where it all started for Ben and Peter. April tags along, after having a dream/vision of it. Easy to read, great world building keep you on the edge of your seat. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

I’ve been mulling over this review for a week now, not because I didn’t enjoy it, but I wasn’t sure how much I could share!! The authors take you into a world that’s scary and hard to believe. Demons and ghosts? Do they really exist? Or are these college kids as crazy now as they were when they were kids?
Definitely eye opening, amazing character building, and great research done.

This is the first time in reading the authors which has turned out to be a good discovery. Peter and Ben take you on quite the thrilling tale with it also being the first in this world. It draws you out right away starting with tragedy. Time matches on with new thrills that have you sitting up. We also are given a rush as this unfolds several times. It will wrap around holding into a piece ensuring you come back again.

When Ben and Peter were young they escaped from a haunted house however four of their friends did not make it. Now they are in college and more supernatural things are happening and they have to figure out what is happening and why. It was a good read, lots of action and new characters being introduced. I would recommend this book.

Well written and interesting to a degree. I had a hard time getting to this book, I had trouble connecting to Ben and Pete. It was a good book overall just never connected with the main characters.
