‘The Blood King’ was the perfect follow-up to ‘The Rogue King’ in the Inferno Rising series. It follows the journey of Skylar, one of the quadruplets (all sisters) whose mother was known as the last known phoenix in the world before her death, coming to the aid of Kaisa who she believed was forced to mate Brand. During the course of the not-so-happy reunion, she meets the Blood King, Landon, and then woo-wee! It starts to get muy caliente!![]()

Overall, The Blood King will appeal to paranormal romance fans. This was my first dragon shifter book and my first Abigail Owen book, and I would not hesitate to read more. Each book in this series can be read as a stand-alone.

“You are my heart and my soul, woman. I love you so much.”

In The Blood King, we are introduced to the eldest Amon sister, Skylar, who is hell-bent on rescuing her sister, Kasia, from the clutches of the Dragon King, who is now her mate. Unfortunately for her, she attracts the notice of the Blood King, Ladon. In a series of unfortunate events, Skylar has no choice but to agree to a mate with Ladon.
The Blood King is a very fast-paced book. Most of the action happens during the first half of the book, which kept me on the edge of my seat. I love the slow relationship development between Skylar and Ladon, although the sexytimes happen early on in the book. I love that the mating bond didn't happen until later on, where we were getting more relationship development between the two strong main characters. The sparks between the two are amazing and the banter is really top-notch!
What really blew me away, though was the last third of the book! We get a few creepy scenes involving the big baddie and a few close calls! Also, there are even more secrets revealed here and we also meet the rest of the sisters!
The Blood King also ends in a sort-of cliffhanger, where we are introduced to the couple in the next book AND another twist in the story!
I can't wait to read the next book The Warrior King!
