Jim Gaffigan is in top form for his seventh comedy special. The four-time Grammy nominated comedian doesn’t understand why we aren’t more honest about the reasons we don’t want to attend events, while at the same time embraces lying to kids. From horses and dog birthdays to traveling and museums, Jim continues to impress. Get ready to sit back and enjoy some Quality Time with Jim Gaffigan!
Jim Gaffigan was born in Elgin, Illinois, and raised in Chesterton, Indiana. He attended La Lumiere School in La Porte, Indiana. He is the youngest of six children and often jokes about growing up in a large family. He attended Purdue University for one year, where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He graduated from Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business in 1988. After graduating, Gaffigan moved to NYC to work in advertising, taking improv classes at night. His comedy career began when a friend bet him to do stand-up.
He is married to actress Jeannie Noth, with whom he has two daughters, Marre and Katie Louise, and three sons, Jack, Michael, and Patrick. The family of seven live in a two-bedroom apartment in New York City. Gaffigan has stated on stage, and elsewhere, that he is Catholic. Portion from
Gaffigan turned into a real "dad" for a while there and his comedy got dull. Not that he's ever been edgy, but for a brief time his material was plucking the lowest fruit. I'm happy to say he's returned to form with Quality Time. I'm not sure why this audio recording of a live performance is listed on Goodreads, and it will probably be removed at some point, but until then this is where my recommendation shall reside!
This is a very funny recording of a Jim Gaffigan concert tour from 2019. Jim is a stand up comic from the Mid-West who has become very popular. He keeps it very clean, I did not hear any swearing on this recording and he stays away from political humor, which face it, you can find just about everywhere else. Jim is the kind of guy who can take a simple subject, like horses, and drill down for ten minutes on how horses are viewed and treated in society. Other subjects he covers are colonialism, The Ann Frank House, museums, marathons, and the aging of dogs. He can find humor in anything.
On Audible, this is a 75 min recording of one one of Jim Gaffigan's stand-up shows, complete with his silly voices and audience laughter. I find Gaffigan's delivery of his stand-up much funnier than his readings of his books. He gains energy from the audience and is free-er with his silly voices during stand-up. He pushes the jokes a bit farther, getting them to a funnier spot. It is very enjoyable for folks willing to laugh that the craziness that is family life with kids.
This guy is hilarious.. and it wasn't until 1 hour that I realized he was using no profanity and was 100% clean. A lot of comedians need the gimmick of profanity and swearing on order to get laughs and to be funny. Not so with Jim.
This didn't really come across like it was an actual book - I listened to the audio version and it was basically a recording of his comedy special. Definitely a funny listen with typical Gaffigan humor. If this book comes in multiple formats, definitely listen to it if you can.
Excellent. I laughed the whole time. He can cover any everyday topic and he can point out the best way to laugh at it. The marathon topic was probably my favorite, but really, the whole thing was terrific.
Listened to the audio version of this stand up act and Laughed out loud a lot. Jim Gaffigan is my favorite comedian so borrowing this when my library added it was a no brainer!
