Polly is back! And things have changed. Sycamore House isn't the same place she left when her family moved to the Bell House. Now that she has an office in the building again, Jeff Lyndsay is ready to make changes to accommodate the growth they've had. It won't be easy telling Henry that he needs to tear out walls he so painstakingly built for her.
Changes in Bellingwood always bring new challenges. Jeff wants to buy a building downtown. Imagine his surprise when he takes Polly to see it and she finds ... you guessed it ... a body. He thought he was safe from her shenanigans. That's not all they find in that building either, deepening the mystery surrounding the murdered man.
While the sheriff's department helps Polly with that, Henry is talking to Chief Ken Wallers and Bert Bradford of the Bellingwood police department about break-ins that are happening in his employees' garages. The guys are good about locking up their trucks and tools, so who is stealing from them?
Bellingwood Bed and Breakfast is finally complete and ready for occupancy. The grand piano that Len Specek and crew have been restoring for Polly is finished and ready to be delivered. She has just enough time to schedule a quick recital. How this woman keeps up with everything that happens in her life is beyond me, but she never stops. It's much more fun this way.
Welcome back for another visit. Listen for the sounds of family, friends and even the animals who call Bellingwood home.
Everyone should read these books. They are joyful, life-affirming and a guide to how we should ALL aim to live our lives in a better way. However small that effort may be. I can only hope Diane lives longer than me, so I will continue to have many visits to Bellingwood. Without equal. Thank you.
This is the book that has occupied a good deal of my time in the last few days. As aalways, I feel like I've just returned from another great visit to Iowa, and spent some time with my family. Another mystery was solved, and another slice of Polly's life was shared. As usual, at the end, I was wiping tears at the thought of leaving. I am looking forward to the next visit, and thank you, Diane for sharing these great folks with us. I haven't missed a book since I started with the first one, and although I haven't reviewed each one, they are all wonderful!
As with all of Diane’s books, this was a page turner. I am only sorry I finished it so soon because I have to wait too long for the next one to be published. Polly, her family, and her friends seem like they are part of my life. Polly started out in Iowa then spent years in Boston before returning to a small town in Iowa. I started out in New Jersey, spent time in other states, then in Iowa and now I live in Boston. I loved my years in Iowa and this series brings me back there with the four books published each year. Thanks Diane!
Once again I've been totally engrossed in Polly and her family! This series never fails me, the insight into Polly's family and their interaction with all in Bellingwood keeps me entertained but now I'm counting down to Christmas for the next instalment. If you've not read any of these books please do and start from the beginning of the series! If you love friends and family or are looking for a book to capture your imagination you will love these books!
I love this series of books and have been looking forward to the latest one. It seems that they get better and better with every book that Dianne writes. I devoured this one and it exceeded my expectations. I plan to read it again immediately, and there are very few books that move me to do that. I heartily recommend that new reader start at the beginning and read the whole series. You will make a Wonderful new set of friends and become part of the story.
Another great episode in Polly’s life for her devoted fans. Each new books attracts many more readers, who once hooked, have to read each one from book 1 to book 27 plus all the vignettes and newsletters. All her fans count the days between publication, once we read one we all want more and more. May Diane continue to delight us for many more episodes to come!
As Polly goes back to work, Jeff comes to her with a new business venture. Will she do it? Adam wants to move to a smaller town with Jeff so they look at a downtown location with a print shop below and an apartment above but what does Polly find? Yes, a dead body. More than just the local police are involved in this one. Another wonderful adventure of Polly Giller's life.
Oh my a number of good things happened in this book. Polly got back in the mix of needs by returning to Sycamore House to work. Found another body and solved two mysteries. One mystery involved Henry and he helped solving the problem. The piano was fixed and a recital held at the Bell house. There were several ideas generated and I can hardly wait to see what happens. Loved the stories.
Getting to know Polly and her family makes me feel like they are part of my family. I laugh and cry and feel like I'm right there in the room with them. How much more of a compliment could I give the writer than that?
Great story line, Polly does it again. Polly somehow always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I guess some would say that somehow she lands in the right place at the right time. Murders and burglaries happen amongs the lives of Polly and her gang.
This is one of the best plots and crime focused of these books. Lots of twists and turns and I enjoyed this part of the story along with all the family issues. The chaos of a large family came through and having raised 5 kids, it was authentic chaos to me.
Wonderful book. I enjoyed it very much. I love learning more and more about Polly, her family and friends. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Even as Polly tries to settle into her large family, she still finds bodies and adventures to get into. I love how she loved her family, friends and community. I love how all of these books focus on positive things amongst the chaos. The lessons in these books carry through to my life and I try to apply what I have learned. I am far from perfect, but I try just like Polly does. Thank you Diane for writing these books and tugging on my heart strings everytime.
As always the people in Bellingwood are fun to read about. Polly and her family has a lot happening in their lives. Elijah have a piano concert to family and friends along with three men that helped to restore Polly's piano. Polly finding another body had a lot of twists and turns added to.this story.
Diane Muir never disappoints.she brings her characters to life and makes them your friends. She left a couple of cliffhangers this time though. I hope she won't forget to work them out .
I love going to Bellingwood every three months. I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys clean cozy mysteries. Polly the main character is believable and someone you would like to have as a friend
I love every other month I can read another Polly adventure but hate when I get to the end of the book. Can't wait for the next episode LOVE this series and the author who brings it to life.
Somehow all the stealing of the tools come back to all the construction that Henry has been involved with. And the huge house they were supposed to be building has been stopped again. And we have a dead body.
Each quarter, I look forward to a trip to Bellingwood and joining Polly and her family. They are growing and maturing. It’s so fun to spend time with her family. Then there is the mystery of solving crimes that Polly uncovers. I recommend this series to everyone.
One of the best yet! Polly, Henry, and their friends and family are so true to life, I forget they’re fictional characters! Reading about their day to day lives is a look into the small townIowa that I love.
Great to visit with old friends in Bellingwood. Where will Diane take us in December? Will she decide to bring Simon and Agnes together? Will Jeff still be able to buy the newspaper building? December 25 can’t come fast enough.
I have read every book in this series soon after they were released. I highly recommend them. This is the first one that caused me to tear up at the end. Did it have a sad ending? No. It was touching and I didn't want the book to end.
This is one of the best ones in a while and it was so good I started re-reading the 1st 3 of the series agian. What a great book! Polly and her friends get up to some good deeds, things go wrong, the kids are growing up and there is a lot to think about in this one.
Book number 27 of this amazing series. The mysteries are well-woven into the story & the lesson about white privilege was extremely well done. I am in awe of any author that can crank out a wonderful book every 3 months!
Good book but did not keep my attention like the other books did. Would have enjoyed a little more action and less conversation among the characters. Still love the series and look forward to the next book.
As always, Polly and her crew are very entertaining once again. These books are like going on a family vacation and hanging out with friends or family that you like. Lol love this series. Can’t wait for the next one. Thank you for what you do.
