His Amish Sweetheart

Rate this book
Fondly nicknamed “The Peanut Butter Brothers,” Andrew, Abraham, and Austin Petersheim skillfully run one of Wisconsin’s most cherished family businesses. But their mischievous younger twin siblings have a talent all their own—for matchmaking . . .

Between work and keeping his little brothers out of trouble, Austin Petersheim barely has time to think, much less court the most popular maidel in town. But if he can establish a local market to direct-sell his family’s goods, he’ll stand out as a potential husband. He’s so grateful for the help of his longtime friend, Hannah Yutzy, who has such practical ideas—and is so easy to talk to . . .

While Austin embarks on his plan, his siblings have a plan of their own: to give Austin and Hannah a little nudge to show them they’re made for each other. When their antics wreak havoc with a rival family emporium, Hannah must help Austin set things right. And as she does just that, Austin is stunned to realize his best friend could be his perfect wife. Now he’ll just need the courage and faith to find out if she agrees . . .

This is a very cute Amish Romance that wrapped itself around my heart. The likable characters made the story come to life. Readers were able to see inside the minds of twin nine year old Amish boys. The story was on the humorous side and I found myself laughing out loud on numerous occasions. I thought the story was very entertaining and a fun read. Definitely a page turner that will stick with me for a long time. This is the second book by Jennifer Beckstrand that I’ve read and she has totally won me over to her style of writing. Refreshingly different Amish book that I enjoyed reading.

Adorable nine years old Amish Twins, Benji and Alfie have had to sleep in the cellar for the past year. Why they were banished to the basement is a very long story and you will find out the reason when you read this delightful story. Their main goal in life is to get their old bedroom back and to get their older brothers married off. They decide to try matchmaking and they seek help from two young girls at school. Things are going rather well until Austin starts spending time with the wrong woman. Scilla Lambright may be pretty but she doesn’t like kids and after all she might very well lock all four of them in the cellar and that’s not where they want to be for the rest of their lives. Hannah Yutzy is pretty too and she’s a better cook than Scilla and she likes kids. What can they do get Austin to pay attention to Hannah? Scilla’s organic BM cookies are like rocks that could break a tooth but Hannah’s Cinnamon Rolls are gooey and delicious!

Austin is very handsome and a bit… no a lot into himself. For years he has been best friends with Hannah Yutzy. Secretly Hannah has a major crush on Austin. Her heart beats hard and her knees turn to jelly whenever she sees him. But Austin seems indifferent towards her like she might be a coat rack or some other insignificant object. Yes they are friends but Hannah wants more than friendship from Austin. Then along comes pretty Priscilla Lambright and Austin is smitten with her. Scilla isn’t as nice as Austin thinks she is. All he can see is that she’s beautiful and he’s even willing to eat her organic BM hard and tasteless cookies. The time will come when he must decide between his best and dearest friend or his new beautiful girlfriend. Hannah’s poor broken heart can only take so much.

I recommend this book to readers of Amish Romance and Christian Fiction. It’s book three of The Petersheim Brothers. I read it as a stand alone but wished I had read the other two books of this series first. This book is scheduled to be released on 6/28/22.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions expressed here in this review are my own.

His Amish Sweetheart by Jennifer Beckstrand is an entertaining Amish tale. I laughed so often while reading this engaging story. Alfie and Benji are a hoot. The twin brothers are determined to get their bedroom back. They do not like sleeping in the cellar (there are spiders, it smells, and a rat could eat them you know). The boys decide the only solution is to marry off their three older brothers. They have had success with Andrew and Abraham. Austin, though, is going to be more of a challenge. Austin is too handsome for his own good and a bit self-centered. The twins believe Hannah Yutzy, Austin’s best friend, is the right person for Austin. The problem is making Austin see it and direct him away from Priscilla Lambright. Austin finds Priscilla to be the prettiest girl in their community and she loves the Petersheim peanut butter. Alfie and Benji come up with a plan to nudge Austin in Hannah’s direction. They enlist the help of two of Hannah’s young female cousins. Can the twins get Austin married off so they can move back into their old bedroom? I thought His Amish Sweetheart was well-written with developed characters. I just love the characters in this series especially the mischievous Benji and Alfie. Their antics had me laughing. The addition of Hannah’s young cousins added to the hilarity. We also get to catch up with the Honeybee sisters and their colorful aunt, Bitsy. I like how everything tied together into one engaging story. There are good life lessons as well. I enjoyed seeing the characters learn and grow. I did not want this diverting story to end (I am still laughing about the BM cookies). The conclusion was delightful. His Amish Sweetheart (formerly known as Austin) is the third book in The Petersheim Brothers series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but this is one series you do not want to miss. I hope this is not the end of the road for Alfie and Benji. His Amish Sweetheart is a heartwarming and humorous Amish tale with Petersheim Peanut Butter, inventive twins, luscious cinnamon rolls, a sign scrape, a cookie crisis, reading time troubles, and a merry market.

Austin by Jennifer Beckstrand is the third book in her Petersheim Brothers series. Austin is the third eldest of the Petersheim brothers, fondly known as the Peanut Butter Brothers, so named because of the family business.

Austin is very handsome but is also cocky and self-centered, and needs his best friend to fix things for him. His best friend, Hannah Yutzy, knows and loves Austin but is tired of being taken for granted. Can lifelong friendship turn into lifelong love?

The youngest Petersheim brothers are nine-year-old twins, Alfie and Benji, who are totally “laugh out loud” hilarious. They’ve been forced to sleep in the cellar due to a lack of bedrooms, since their grandparents have moved in. Alfie and Benji plan to get their room back by getting their older brothers to marry and move out. They’ve successfully married off their eldest brothers, Andrew and Abraham, and are now working on a plan to link Austin with his best friend, Hannah Yutzy. The twins have enlisted the help of Hannah’s young cousins, two of their female classmates, who add to the hilarity. This is going to be a tough task for the kids, but they’re determined to marry Austin off and get that bedroom back.

Austin is a quick, easy, really good read. The characters are completely developed and believable. The kids are especially entertaining. As with the previous books in the series, the writing flows smoothly, and there’s just the right amount of conflict. This is another 5 out of 5 star endeavor from Jennifer Beckstrand. I recommend this book to all readers of Amish fiction, especially Amish romance.

My thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

I have so enjoyed this series, question putting the twins in the cellar, but guess you do what you have to do.
The twins Alfie and Benji are now nine and are will to do whatever to get out of the cellar, and that means they have one more brother to marry off, Austin.
As the brother pick a choice of whom their brother should marry, I sure found myself rooting for one!
Lets hope Austin wakes up before it is to late, and we no longer have BM cookies!
The is a read that is very warm hearted, and full of chuckles, and some very brave boys!

I read this book when it was to be originally published during the pandemic but waited to write my review. Well, I wanted to read it again and ended up listening to the audiobook which was phenomenal.

I have yet to read a Jennifer Beckstrand book I didn’t like. Each series warms your heart and finds a way to stick with you. Even though this series is about the three older brothers the twins make it, Alfie and Benji are two little imps that you can’t help but love.

Austin and Hannah have been friends for years and he is too smitten with another Amish girl, Scilla, to see the love Hannah has for him. Through ups and downs in building a business Austin questions his feelings for Scilla. Will he see where his true love belongs before Hannah walks away for good?

Even though His Amish Sweetheart can be read as a standalone I suggest read the series in order. This will give you the best experience with the twins. I hope one day we get another book(s) or a novella on the twins when it comes time for them to fall in love.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed above are entirely my own.

My blurb …
Ever been so busy that you don’t have time to think? That’s Austin Petersheim. Running a business, keeping his little brothers out of trouble — there is simply no time to court the most popular maidel in town. He seeks Hannah’s help for courting and more. What he doesn’t figure on is the “extra” courting assistance planned by his twin little brothers.

My review …
Jennifer Beckstrand is one of my favorite Amish authors. But drat, this book didn’t do it for me. I guess starting out with “making” the little boys, 9 years old, sleep in the cellar turned my momma|nana light to a strobe setting. But these two guys are great little characters, twins Alfie & Benji provide smiles throughout.

Their mamm insists on the dog the boys call TinTin must be called LaWayne or they couldn’t keep him. That bothered me a lot and really, LaWayne for a dog’s name! Eventually, it was explained (two chapters later) but that was the second thing with the boys that, well, I didn’t like. And that colored the whole story for me.

Characters: This book is rich with characters. There’s the character Priscilla; she’s the “most popular maidel” mentioned in the description. Even Amish men can be taken in by a pretty face. Oh, and the character Scilla. Ever had a pushy “friend” who assures you that tofu is just as good as steak? That’s Scilla. And her cookies — and you will be thankful the recipe is NOT included. Another great character is Bitsy who is Amish but dyes her hair in various colors and yes, it wasn’t a typo–she’s Amish. And you won’t like Raymond Glick.

The boys know that Austin should marry Hannah. She’s practical, makes fabulous donuts, and always seems to have a solution to a problem. There is a lot in this book to like. And I do recommend it. Maybe I was just having an “off” moment. But you shouldn’t. It’s got a fun and sweet ending.

For me, this was a 3.5-star rating but most review sites only post whole numbers which will be 4 stars.

I received a complimentary e-ARC copy of His Amish Sweetheart via NetGalley from the publisher, Kensington Books, Zebra. A positive review was not required; the opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

His Amish Sweetheart is a fantastic story written by Jennifer Beckstrand. This story is filled with humor, friendship, and love. The characters are very likeable especially the twin brothers that mischief follows wherever they go. The twins have been sent to sleep in the basement because their grandparents have moved in with them. So they embark on scheming to marry off their brothers one by one so they can reclaim their bedroom. In this story their brother Austin is their target. With many twist and turns to get him married they have missed one very important detail. Will they ever get out from sleeping in the basement? I absolutely enjoyed this story.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others. This author never disappoints her readers

Alfie and Benji are up to their old tricks again! I just love these two little boys. They're working so hard to get out of the basement and some of the things they do will make you laugh out loud and want to hug them at the same time!
I'm loving this series so much! I really enjoyed in getting to know this family and I know I will be sad when this series ends.
I kinda feel sorry for Austin but yet at the same time I don't. I do like him though. He's very handsome to be sure! But he's extremely cocky.
A wonderful plot that Beckstrand fans will be sure to love! I know I did!
I enjoyed this book so much that I finished it in over an hour!
One thing is for sure! Peanut butter is one of my favorite things to eat and I could practically taste it! Yum!
Friends are good to have. Hannah is such a great friend to Austin.
Austin and Hannah were two peas in a pod according to Forest Gump.
Come along for the ride with all of these wonderful characters Beckstrand style and stay a while. You'll be glad you did! You won't be able to keep a straight face for sure!
Beckstrand is awesome! I never miss any of her awesome books!

I just finished His Amish Sweetheart, by Jennifer Beckstrand. Oh how I didn't want the book to end!! It was for sure & certain a book you cant put down! The mischievous Petersheim twins are always getting into strange & unusual trouble, but are so endearing, you can't help but love them.

Their latest "spy plan," is trying to get Older brother Austin to marry his best friend, Hannah. But how will they get rid of, Priscilla, Austin's girlfriend?

I love the way Ms. Beckstrand uses humor throughout her stories, as well as sharing
Inspirational nuggets along the way. All the characters throughout the book are warm,
lovable (well, maybe not Priscilla) people you'd want to surround yourself with in real
life.

For sure this is a must read! The publishers sent me an advanced copy & all opinions are strictly my own.

My thoughts: This is one of my favorite series by Jennifer Beckstrand. Full of characters that come alive on the page and make you laugh with their antics. You'll want to knock some sense into Austin and give Alfie and Benji big hugs. Oh and Hannah needs a hug. This is a book you'll want on your keeper shelf and want to reread. I loved the ending. Jennifer Beckstrand writes lovely series that I feel like the characters are my neighbors. Her latest series has provided us on the devoted ‘peanut butter brother’ Austin. Frankly, the entire series has made me giggle, laugh and cheer on the twins’ determination to marry off their brothers to get out of the dreaded cellar with creepy spiders and other undesirable items/smells. I’ve cheered their determination each time, while laughing at their latest plans.
This installment showed their sweet spirits and potential for being in the wrong place at the wrong time to complete the right need. Likewise, readers will cheer on Hannah, Ruth Ann, and Dinah for their deliberate methods of understanding all the males and their overall patience and devotion. This book is a highly recommended read; quite frankly, it was the perfect balance of humor and love! Now, Ms. Beckstrand needs to provide me with the twins’ stories, update me on the peanut butter brothers, and provide more background on their poor, long-suffering mom! #Austin #NetGalley #HisAmishSweetheart

The author gives us another great book in her series featuring the Petersheim family which makes and sells peanut butter. This book centers around Austin, who is attracted to one of the young ladies in their town, Scilla. His best friend, Hannah Yutzy, has always been there for him through the years. She continues to give him ideas for his business.

Austin’s twin brothers, Alfie and Benji, are always getting into mischief and they are working their hardest to get Austin and Hannah together, as they are do not like the girl Austin is pursuing, Scilla. There is much humor in this book making it very enjoyable to read.

I received a copy of this book from Kensington Books and NetGalley. I highly recommend this enjoyable book to all.

Enjoyable ending to the entire series. Loved it much like I did the others, especially because Alfie and Benji are always finding mischief, or is mischief always finding them. Either way they enlist more help, this time their classmates. These twins are the heart of the series.

Austin irritated me at first, and still does on some level, due to how he is, a bit of Gaston, though a few pegs knocked down and not sexist. That being said I could totally understand Hannah for being a bit fed up, and honestly she's a saint for putting up with him at times. I do love the trope/idea of best friends to courtship to marriage and life long partnership, because of it's predictability and how they evolve over time, but it can be one in which can fail in flying colors too. Beckstrand does a great job at not letting that happen.

The drama in this one was quite fascinating and fun, worth the read.

Oh how I adore Alfie and Benji and their sincere-of-heart-but-prone-to-backfire antics. They captured my heart in book one of this hilarious series, and they will forever be there – right next to Beckstrand’s other memorable characters like Anna & Felty and Aunt Bitsy.

All these precocious twins want is their bedroom back – and the only way they know to do that is to get their bedroom-stealing older brothers married & out of the house. And Austin is the last one standing… but this time, the twins don’t agree on who their matchmaking target should be, at least not at first. This leads to some entertaining back-and-forth as they each champion their respective picks for his mate while trying unsuccessfully not to be too obvious about it. Not to worry though, Austin (bless his heart) is a more than a little bit dense when it comes to matters of the heart and stayed oblivious to the motives behind their odder than normal behavior. Which leads to more entertaining shenanigans and laugh-out-loud moments! There are a couple of other characters who also severely tried my patience (you’ll know them when you meet them) but even they play into the humor & the eventual romance and are even further examples of how brilliant this author is with character development.

I have a soft spot in my heart for best-friends-fall-in-love romances, so even if I hadn’t already been dying to read His Amish Sweetheart this trope would have rocketed it to the top of my TBR list. I loved Hannah and I was on her side all the way through. She’s sweet, loyal and gracious, and she loves selflessly. She’s also quite savvy, and I enjoyed watching her help Austin make his dream of a storefront into a reality. Something else I loved was watching Benji really come into his own in this book, as more than just Alfie’s sidekick. He’s the twin with the least guile and (I think) the most sensitive heart but he often stays more in the shadows of his more outspoken & wilier (though still just as delightful) brother. However, Beckstrand gives him plenty of chances to shine in his very own spotlight in His Amish Sweetheart and I just could not be happier about it.

Bottom Line: His Amish Sweetheart was well worth the wait! With her trademark humor and warmth, Beckstrand gives us yet another delightful romance with hilariously endearing characters that keep all your emotions engaged as the story progresses. (Side note: I also appreciated that a character in the community had Lyme Disease and that Beckstrand brought attention to some of its more debilitating symptoms, ones that mirrored my own experience. It’s nice to feel seen in fiction, isn’t it?) Alfie and Benji will take over your heart and refuse to return it to you, but you absolutely cannot miss getting to know them on the pages of this fabulous series from a highly talented author!

I have been enjoying Ms. Beckstrand's books for a while now, so I was very excited to have the opportunity to read this book! I read the first two books in the series and have been waiting to read this one. The Petersheim Brothers series has been sweet to read and I like seeing cameos from other characters across the series! Austin Petersheim is caught between work and taking care of his little brothers, much too busy to court the most popular girl in town. But starting a local market so he can directly sell his family’s goods, maybe he can stand out. And his longtime friend, Hannah Yutzy is such a help, with her practicality and ideas, and so easy to talk to. But his brothers have their own plan, one to ensure that Austin and Hannah see that they are right for each other. When trouble with a rival family store arises, Hannah and Austin must work to set things right. As they do, Austin realizes that his best friend could be the perfect wife for him, but will she agree?

I really loved Hannah! She was so sweet and I loved her positivity! She seemed so fun and sweet in the other books, I really appreciated how welcoming she always was. However, I had a little more trouble with Austin. I just did not like him as much as I hoped to. He seemed a bit self-centered and did not seem to see what was going on around him. Because of this, there were times where I was a bit frustrated while reading.

The story was pretty fun, but at times felt a bit slow. It sometimes felt like the characters were a bit flat. I liked seeing the boys again though and their co-conspirators! They were fun to read about. It was nice to see the brothers' story wrapup. This was a clean Amish romance. I think it is worth it to read the books previously in the series, but not necessary. I would give it 3.5 stars out of 5.

In this third book in The Petersheim Brothers series, Austen is trying to figure out a way to sell more of his family’s homemade peanut butter. His younger twin siblings are trying to figure out a way to get Austin married so they can stop sleeping in the basement and get back their old room. Rooms got switched around when their grandfather had a stoke and he and his wife had to move into the main house. The twins absolutely hate the basement with its spiders and who knows what else! But they disagree on whom Austin should marry. Priscilla is Alfie’s choice, but Beni is holding out for Hannah. Notice how none of the people involved were consulted by the twins as to his or her feelings! Both girls are attracted to Austin, a very handsome man, as everyone will agree. And the two women are also quite nice looking. But one is especially kind to others, smart, and caring. The other one? Well, she is mostly kind to herself, and certainly not kind to rambunctious little boys. The twins have their work cut out for them, and they soon figure out they should join forces for their common goal. And as for Austin? He would do well to seek the help of an astute business woman for some ideas if he wants to sell more peanut butter. This wrap up to the series is filled with humor, romance, and great characters, all in an intriguing and very entertaining story. The twins really steal the show, but all the characters are interesting and well developed. It’s a wunderbaar story! I highly recommend the entire series.

Good things come to those who wait! This is true with the release of this book. His Amish Sweetheart is the third book in The Petersheim Brothers series. Andrew and Abraham had their stories and now it is Austin’s turn. Their younger twin brothers, Allie and Benji are the cutest things! They’re trying to marry off their brothers so they don’t have to sleep in the cellar.
This is a stand alone novel, but I would read the books in order to enjoy them best. I want to thank the author, Kensington Books and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Another matchmaking scheme in the books for young Alfie and Benji, on their quest to get out of the cellar and reclaim a bedroom in the house! These two crack me up with their narrative and way of thinking. Their older brother Austin is in their sights, and this time the twins disagree on who should be the target of his romance. Austin is such an oblivious guy, and often made me cringe as his thoughtlessness hurt Hannah's feelings. It's a tricky time of life, where it's too easy to take friends for granted while figuring out dating and courtship. I loved how Benji sees through the facade and manipulations of Alfie's choice of girl, and Alfie's reaction when he has to eat crow and follow Benji's lead for once. Some angst and drama is woven in as Hannah learns to let Austin go, while Austin learns to appreciate and value Hannah as well as identify who he feels truly devoted to. Andrew, Abraham, the family, and community are entertaining as a strong supporting cast, and I hope we get more stories in this series!

The Petersheim eight year old twin brothers Alfie and Benji are at it again. They live in the basement where it is dark, scary, and downright uninviting. They have devised a plan to marry their brothers off to be able to move upstairs in their bedrooms. They have one brother left Austin. Alfie has one particular young girl in mind and Benji has another. The two brothers work against each other for the girl they want for their brother. One of the girls is an old family friend of Austin and his family. Austin and Hannah have been best friends since they were young children. Hannah has always loved Austin but Austin just sees her as a friend. The other is Priscilla. Hannah and Priscilla are night and day. Priscilla does not like anything but Austin and and herself. The boys realize that and join forces right away to see that Austin open his own eyes and see that Hannah is the frau for him.

The shenanigans of these boys are funny and delightful. They have harmless fun but they seem to find trouble. Austin has never looked at Hannah as anything but a friend but when he Hannah become business partners, he begins to see her in a different way. Priscilla is the friction of this triangle. She is a joy to dislike and brings out the best in Hannah's character. It just takes Austin a while to see that there is more than just a pretty face. There is a true partnership in any relationship.

One of the insightful lessons from this book was on the popular bible verse "Spare the Rod, Spoil the child". In biblical times a rod was used for the sheep to protect and guide. Poor Benji and Alfie were the scorn of Priscilla in using this verse. Discipline is for teaching not terror. That just made me like Hannah more. Their story is one of love and faith learned. It does take learning to love in faith.

A Special Thank you to Kensington Books and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

We waited a long time for Austin’s story, and it was worth the wait. The Honeybee Sisters’ trilogy introduced me to Beckstrand’s stories, and I was hooked. I love the community that grows and blossoms in each book. I was devastated when Austin’s release was delayed, and afraid that I wouldn’t remember the details once it came out. Instead, I can honestly say I was blown away. This might have taken the top spot in my favorites list.

Austin and Hannah’s friendship is so sweet and honest. And I love that what goes around, comes around on its own. I’m still waiting for James to find love, but I’m sure that’s coming soon...perhaps in the Pretzel Proposals.

If you have not picked up a book yet by Jennifer Beckstrand, then you need to go get one right now! I am telling you...they are fabulous. I can't begin to count the times that I laughed out loud during her latest release, Austin. Austin is the third of the Petersheim Brothers Series books and it is great. The only reason I didn't finish it in one setting is because I had to sleep. But I still stayed up half the night reading most of it. Austin is the third Petersheim brother and his two nine year old twin brothers have been trying to get all of their older brothers married off. The twins currently sleep in the cellar because the house is so full and they plan to marry off each brother so they can have a bedroom back. What results is always funny and exciting. Hannah and Austin have been best friends since grade school. Hannah loves Austin, but she doesn't want to ruin their friendship. Austin is handsome, loves peanut butter, and is determined to expand his family business. Hannah has just the right ideas to help him. However, when he starts courting Priscilla Lambright, Hannah can't help but wish it was her. So do the twins. Find out how the twins and two of their young friends, Dinah and Ruth Ann, work to bring Hannah and Austin together.
Full of laughter, joy, grace, and cheer, Austin is sure to bring a smile to your face and warm your heart. I can't wait to read the rest of Jennifer Beckstrand's books!
I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book through the publisher and NetGalley. All opinions are my ow.n.

What can I say? Not enough I love this series! The characters are hilarious and fun. I read every book that comes out by this Jennifer Beckstrand because I know it will make me laugh, and we all need a good laugh! In this series we have 2 little boys who have to live in the cellar until their brothers marry. From the first page those little scoundrels will have you laughing at their cuteness and schemes.

Now he’ll just need the courage and faith to find out if she agrees . . .

His Amish Sweetheart by Jennifer Beckstrand was a wonderful story. Many of the Amish stories are mainly about two people falling in love, but this one was so much more. Austin’s family produces and sells peanut butter. Austin wants to sell more jars of peanut butter, so his best friend, Hannah, comes up with a plan. There’s an old house for sale on the outskirts of town and Hannah proposes the idea she has to Austin. She wants him to buy the house and convert it into an Amish market. Since they are Amish, there are many hurdles to face, but the house is purchased and converted into an Amish market. Everyone in their community knows that Hannah would be perfect for Austin, but Austin has set his sights on another Amish young lady named Priscilla. Priscilla wants the market to see all organic items, including her BM cookies! 5 stars and highly recommend this book!!

The Petersheim Brothers are known as "The Peanut Butter Brothers" because they make peanut butter. There are five brothers Andrew, Abraham, Austin, Alfie, and Benji. Alfie and Benji are twin 9-year-old who are determined to see each of their older brothers married and moving out of the house (so they don't have to live in the cellar). Their antics are on the mischievous side while developing their matchmaking talent.

My attention was immediately captured. Before I knew it, I was startling those around me with my reactions to the storyline. I gasped, laughed, and said "WHAT?!" several times throughout the story. I could not put this book down. I carried it around with me and read it whenever the opportunity presented itself.

Recommend this book (entire series too)!!

This book was incredibly hard to read, not necessarily because of the plot (which I found interesting). Rather, the writing style wasn't as polished as one would expect from a published work. At first I thought that it fit the book in the first chapter since the viewpoint was from one of the eight year old boys, Alfie. However, the language never shifted. Most sentences seemed to be "subject - verb - etc." which makes for choppy writing and keeps the reader very aware that they are reading every single word. It takes away from the experience of the story.

**I received this book in exchange for an honest review. All views expressed are completely my own.**
