There are two things I know. I know I had no choice but to leave the only place I’ve ever considered home behind. But knowing that doesn’t always keep the suffocating regret from settling down on my chest with such heaviness that all I want to do is find my way back. And I would have run back to Red Oak Bay weeks ago if there wasn’t a sharp pang of fear assaulting my heart every time I think about it and reminding me why I have to stay away.
Abel must hate me. I know that, too. How could he not? The idea alone makes me want to cry myself to sleep. Especially because, as ridiculous as it sounds, I don’t want him to ever stop resenting me. I even dread it. Because the day he loses that resentment is the day he’ll have forgotten about me.
ABEL
People often say that you don’t realize how essential someone is in your life until you lose them. And it seems to happen to people all the time. It’s as though no one has ever been able to learn from so many others’ mistakes and appreciate what they have while they have it.
I sure haven’t learned from them.
Now, Kylie is gone, and I’m still here…left alone in our apartment with not even the smallest clue as to how to find her. That’s all I can think about—finding her and bringing her back home. Making her mine, just like I should have done when she walked into my life three years ago.
C.M. Marin is an author of romantic suspense and contemporary romance.
She’s a small-town girl all the way. Quiet and nature are all she really needs… as long as there are books and a box full of assorted teas within easy reach!
She hasn’t found her own happily ever after yet, but she sure loves to write about falling in love and finding forever. With a touch of suspense, just the right amount of sexiness, and plenty of love, she writes books for every lover of romance around the world!
Not as Angsty as Book One But Such a Great Story! I found myself pleasantly surprised by the first book in the Red Oak Bay series by C.M. Marin, and “Somewhere,” the second installment in the lineup was just as beautiful as the first. Long-time friends and roommates Abel and Kylie deal with some seriously dangerous people as they battle for the HEA they always wanted but were too afraid to ask for. A bartender in his friend’s piano bar, Abel is strong, handsome, and so loving and caring toward the people he allows close to him, despite being devastated by the sudden death of his best friend four years earlier. Feisty, driven beauty Kylie is the sunshine that came into his life at a very dark moment. Their chemistry is hot, and it’s intensified by their strong friendship and genuine affection for each other. Just like the first book, “Somewhere” hits us with a whirlwind of emotion that is spiced up by a bit of suspense. In the end, though, it’s about that old adage of love conquering all and living your best life on your own terms. In short, life is meant to be lived. I learned my lesson with Book 1 and kept the tissues handy. So glad I did. Unfortunately, as with the first title, the word choices were sometimes puzzling, which is the only reason that this book isn’t getting five stars from me. But with that said, I’m really looking forward to the third book, and I’m hoping it includes an HEA for Abel’s old friend, Chase, who has a bigger role in Book 2 than he did in the first!
A follow on from Anywhere, as it has all the characters from this book but concentrates on Kylie and Abel. Kylie and Abel have been roomies and also friends for the last 3 years. Kylie disappears and after 30+ days, Abel finally admits that his feelings for her are more than friends. He is distraught at how she crept away and having no contact is worrying. Their friends are just as worried. Kylie had left to protect herself and her friends from her controlling father's threats and to remove herself from Carter, her abusive boyfriend. There are ulterior motives behind the threats and encouraging the friendship, with leads to marriage which is purely for business reasons. Her parents and Carter are toxic and dangerous. Her mother is a cold and ignorant socialite. Her father is ruthless in his pursuit of commercial and financial dominance. Cater is devious, callous and abusive. Abel and the others are Kylie's family, Her home is with them and their town but her parents refuse to acknowledge her wishes to live her own life. Despite being in fear, dangerous situations and pursuits, eventually Kylie gets to live her life..

In this second book, Kylie and Able are roommates and best friends. But when she comes up missing they both admit their hidden feelings towards each other. Then their emotional and exciting romance takes them through some difficult times with a bit of danger added in before Able and Kylie finally find their HEA. Good read

Loved the cover and the blurb. Some may enjoy this writing style and how the characters are portrayed. Not saying it was bad, it just wasn't for me. I don't mind exposition/reflection, but for me it was a bit too long in some areas. I would try this author again in the future.
Absolutely Awesome Read, beautifully written, great characters, Awesome story line, easy read to hold you on their journey, this genre might not be for everyone, but it’s a really wonderful story cannot wait for more from this Author.
This is book two in the Red Oak Bay series. Meet Kylie and Abel. This story makes me think of the saying 'You don't know what you have until its gone'. This fits Abel and Kylie to a perfect T. These two had a relationship full of ups and downs and Kylie leaves everything behind without a backward glance. She wants so desperately to return home to Red Oak Bay but is terrified of crossing paths with Abel again. This is not for the reasons that you may think, she is worried that he will never forgive her for leaving. Kylie does return home and her and Abel do cross paths but is forgiveness in the stars for these two? What a roller coaster of a ride of emotions in this heartbreaking second chance story! Great read! Enjoy!

This is book number 2 in the Red Oak Bay series. This story broke my heart with the ups and downs of Kylie and Abels relationship. Kylie leaves Abel without any clues on where she went or where to find her. The relationship between these two was up and down I felt like I was on a roller coaster ride. Regret and fear threaten there relationship with Kylie leaving and the unknown if Abel will forgive her for leaving him but the chemistry between these two is off the charts.

I received and ARC in exchange for an honest review. I really liked Kylie and Abel's story. With that being said this book broke my heart at the same time. The up and downs in this book made me read it cover to cover in one night. Also the steaminess factor is off the charts. I love when stories are told by both main characters. I like that we get to see what is going on in both their heads. Great story and great addition to the series!!!
This is quite a story and I loved it. Abel is a little rough around the edges but he's such a caring soul that I couldn't help calling for. A well written and well developed story but I think you need to read book 1 to truly appreciate the characters. A couple of typos missed in editing but not enough to be annoying. I'm becoming a fan of this author.
Book 2 of the series. This book can be read on it's own, however book 1 is a added bonus for reading this book. I really love this author and how her books flow. I can get lost in the world she created when I am reading her work.
