Book Two of the Land of Twilight TrilogySeventh-grade Lorna struggles with the meaning of "friend" like, how to be one, how to choose one, and how to keep one.
Lorna rejects her dad, tricks her mom, and turns her back on the ethereal Land of Twilight. She even turns from her best friend, Sam, in favor of gaining the attention of Jenny, a new girl in the neighborhood. Lorna sheds her generous personality, as she learns to steal and hide. As life spirals downward, she pretends to enjoy her seventh-grade year in Crestwood, Arizona. It has to be Sam's turn to do what true friends do. But, everything he tries turns to mush.
GET THIS cliff-hanging sequel! For readers, age 9-13, who enjoy Celtic mythology and busting the dust in the Arizona desert with a best friend.
Return to Twilight Trilogy by Charmayne Hafen is the second book in this fantastical trilogy about two friends trying to be there for each other.
Can Sam save Lorna?
Lorna Wilson Lorna Wilson is starting seventh grade, is finally in middle school, and has befriended the new girl in her neighborhood. The only problem is that Lorna isn't acting like herself anymore. A lot has changed for Lorna between going from sixth grade to seventh grade, her dad not visiting, and her new friend Jenny it doesn't all add up correctly. She is going down a dark path that needs to be fixed soon. What I like about Lorna is that she doesn't always follow Jenny's lead, which is a great thing, but it still doesn't help her friendship with Sam. The one thing that I dislike about Lorna is the way that she is handling her dad, not visiting and with Jenny being her friend.
Samuel Black Samuel Black is on a mission to help his friend Lorna to be more like herself again. Granted, that is very hard when he can't get her alone long enough to talk. Sam is trying his best, though, and is following Trix's way of doing things in the Land of Twilight. He made a new friend in Thomas, and that seems to be a good thing for Sam. What I like about Sam is that he tries to be Lorna's friend, but it doesn't always work. Sam is a great guy, and if only Lorna will stop hanging out with Jenny to remember how much fun they had.
Five Stars Return to Twilight Trilogy by Charmayne Hafen is the next book in this trilogy that had me guessing from the first moment I started it. Lorna is going through some hard things, and Sam is left having to figure out how to bring back his best friend. I am rating this novel five stars and recommend it to any parents that think that their child would love this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the Prism Book Tours. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Return to Twilight is book two in the Land of Twilight Trilogy. Author Charmayne Hafen picks up pretty close to where book one stops. I recommend reading the books in order as there are some magical aspects that were explained in the first book and understood in the second. I think readers might feel lost if they don’t read the books in order. In this book, Lorna has lost her way. Feeling rejected she starts acting out in ways she never would have previously considered. In the process she learns that her actions do have consequences. Sam feels rejected by Lorna but instead of turning his back on her, he returns to Twilight to get Trix’s help. I love the theme running through the book of helping friends get back on the right path. Sam does what needs doing in order to get Lorna back where she belongs. Charmayne Hafen ends Return to Twilight with a bit of a cliffhanger - it looks as though Trix is now the one in trouble. Land of Twilight was recently released but I have not yet had the opportunity to read it. I look forward to doing so. Return to Twilight would be a great fantasy to add to a K-12 Christian school library. It would be appropriate for grades 4-6. I received a complimentary copy of Return to Twilight. This is my honest review.
I was given a review copy of this story and it was enjoyable like the first one in the series.
This instalment is more of a growing up tale and how the life of young people is filled with angst and moral dilemmas. Lorna is going through a difficult time and chooses to befriend someone who may not be good for her. Sam is trying his best to steer Lorna back onto the right path.
Mixed with these problems is the magical place of Twilight, where Trix continues to give good advice.
I liked how the mix of characters show that life is constantly changing and how they react. I think Sam is a brilliant friend because of how he is determined to help Lorna. There is more to this but I don’t give spoilers.
Overall, this is a great tale about life, love, friends, dilemmas and the choices that can lead to that dark path. Good paced writing made this an easy read and, I think, some great lessons for not just a younger readership.
I really like the way Sam helped Lorna find her faith. This story creates a great way to make learning faith in a fun and educational way. This is a good follow up to Journey to Twilight. The characters are well-developed and it's easy to feel their emotions. The story flows well from chapter to chapter and is easy to follow along. I recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a great adventure.
