Death on West End Road is the third book in the Hamptons Murder Mysteries written by Carrie Doyle. Given I grew up on Long Island and the author lives in NYC, and it's a mostly cozy mystery, I had to give the series a chance. I am now 3/4 of the way through it and plan to read the last book (not sure if there will be more) in 2021.

Antonio had a bad break-up in California. She bought an inn on the eastern end of Long Island, where all the rich and famous have second homes. Given her extraordinary cooking skills, she quickly made friends... and some want her to solve a murder. In this book, there's a 20+ year mystery brewing... did Pauline Framingham kill her best friend, Susie? The cops couldn't arrest her, but she looked quite guilty. Too bad there were 6 or 7 other people around that day with hidden motives. Which one really did it (clubbed her with a tennis racquet)? Pauline hires Antonia, who is also busy crushing on a local actor and connecting guests at her inn who know each other but can't find each other.

I enjoy mysteries that delve into the past. The background setting is beautiful and familiar. The writing is good. This has all the classic characters and motives, so it's a joy to read. It's also not light and fluffy; there is substance and charm. Of course, we have all the side stories to make the place feel real, and the supporting cast provides interesting background moments. My only feedback would be to develop them more... it sometimes feels like Antonia is too on her own, even though she has help. Another fun edition in this series, and I recommend them to mid-range mystery lovers who like some like and some complex components.

Note: I received a free copy of this book, in exchange here is my honest review.

I think I would have enjoyed this more, had I read the other books in the series. 🤷🏼‍♀️ There are some references to a previous ‘case’ and mentioned previous relationships, that I didn’t get. The mystery/case itself was a decent read. 🙂

Innkeeper, Antonia Bingham, is hired to play amateur sleuth in a cold case. One thing Antonia loves is playing amateur sleuth. This particular case happened in 1990 when a teenager was murdered. Oddly enough, she’s hired by the prime suspect in the murder, Pauline Framingham. Antonia’s investigation leads her in a dangerous direction which could cause her to lose the lovely East Hampton inn she has grown to love. Not to mention that many lives seem to be in danger since the investigation has started up again.

This is the third book in the series. I did not read the previous two books, but I really want to. It would give me a better feeling for the characters. The story itself is self-contained in this book. It’s not a continuing storyline, but I do think it would be beneficial to read the first two books. I want to know Antonia better. It seems like she has an background to read about.

It took me some time to get into this book, but when I did, I couldn’t put it down. I had to know who was involved and what the scenerio involved in this cold case was all about. It’s touching how Antonia grew to care about the victim, who she never met, but I could also understand it. I cared too.

There were many twists and turns along the way. I didn’t see the ending coming at all. I knew something was up, but I didn’t put it all together quite accurately. The author did a great job of keeping the readers guessing and captivated until the end.

FTC Disclosure: I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Here is a cozy mystery that is just perfect for our current season. The story takes place in one of the most storied and wealthy vacation spots, East Hampton, in, yes, THE Hamptons (New York).

This is the third in a series although I think that it can be read as a standalone. This time Antonia is investigating a cold case. She is hired by a rather cold individual as well.

There are many secrets to uncover and Antonia is kept busy with her investigation and her inn. Matters are further complicated when individuals from Antonia’s past start to appear. Readers can sit back and relax as Antonia handles everything.

This book would make an ideal beach read. Get some sand between your toes, glance out at the water and turn the pages…or turn the pages from your couch.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this title. All opinions are my own.

Death on West End Road by Carrie Doyle is the third book in her Hamptons Murder series but I think it is the best so far.
I love that it is about solving a cold case murder that leads to some fascinating circumstances. It has an ominous feel right from the start. Things seem off when Paula asks Antonia to find who murdered her friend years ago and prove it wasn't her. It gets stranger as she starts interviewing the people who were involved years ago with Susie and the stories are not adding up. Antonia has to figure out who she can trust and who she can't and is Paula using her in some cruel game she is playing?

I have always thought if I was an investigator I would want to work on cold cases and help families find answers and get justice. that is why this book appealed to me at first. This plot has that element of solving a cold case to help reach justice but it also leads to exciting circumstances in the present day also. The mystery keeps you guessing and has so many possibilities. I like how Antonia is smart, quick thinking but naive too. She tends to jump in.with both feet then wonder what have I gotten myself into.
If you like a good mystery, with exciting twists and more than one possible suspect you will want to read this book. It is a good mystery with fun smart characters as well as a few sinister characters too. I enjoyed this one and couldn't put it down. I suggest you read the first two in the series also. I hope you will check it out.

I received this book for my honest opinion and reveiw.

A slow paced mystery packed with interesting characters and an intriguing storyline. Antonia was a softy, that allowed herself to be jerked around by the rich and bored Patricia, because of her curiosity she was still able to rattle a few cages in order to solve the cold old case. Bringing to light a lot of hidden secrets which the killer wanted to remain just that secrets, causing him the to shut down the investigation. Although threatened with legal action if they delved any further into the investigation, with the help of her friends Joseph and obnoxious reporter Larry they were able to put closure to an unsolved murder. I was looking forward to more excitement in the story but it was not to be, on a whole, it was an interesting read.

Death on West End Road by Carrie Doyle is part of her A Hamptons Murder Mystery series. In this book Antonia Bingham is busy running her inn, which is booked to capacity for the Summer season, but when Pauline Framingham asks her to investigate a cold case in the murder of her friend, Susie Whitaker, Antonia agrees. This won’t be an easy case to solve because it happened back in 1990, the crime scene is compromised, the circumstances are complicated and the former witnesses are skittish and less than forthcoming with what they remember from so many years ago. The deeper that Antonia digs for answers the less things make sense. Running her inn smoothly is a top priority for Antonia as well but the ghosts of the past won’t let her rest. Antonia gets a few surprises of her own when a guest returns with a secret to tell, and a love interest returns which causes hope to spring in her heart. Can Antonia solve the mystery of who murdered Susie Whitaker or will this case continue to go cold and justice unserved?
Death on West End Road is the first book that I have read by Carrie Doyle and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Antonia is a very engaging main character and immediately grabs you and pulls you into the story. You see her reluctance to get involved with this case right from the beginning because it’s peak season for the Hamptons and she wants to make sure that her inn runs smoothly but is persuaded to investigate nonetheless because of her previous successes solving mysteries. Pauline is a very determined woman and we come to see that she is very manipulative as well. Pauline has lots of secrets and quite a few that connect back to what happened to her friend. Antonia is warned many times by those who were suspected, questioned and cleared to let this case go. She’s told that Pauline likes to stir things up and have people jump through hoops but Antonia pushes on.
This story is very well written and has quite a few unexpected surprises. This is a who-done-it novel that really keeps you wondering who the culprit is until nearly the end when all the pieces start to come together to solve the case. Antonia deals with so much from: helping a customer find his second love, to dealing with a guest who returns with more than a couple secrets, to even threats against her reputation. There is hope, despair, confusion and jealousy. This book really gives it all to you and in such a dynamic way that you can’t help but keep turning the pages.
Death on West End Road is a cozy mystery that packs it all into one book. It is interesting, funny, has just the right amount of romance, has just enough danger that threatens the main character and an ending that one really can’t complain about at all. I really enjoyed reading this book and I will be going back and reading other works by this author as well. If you are looking for a cozy mystery that will keep you engaged to the end then this is a book I recommend.

Set against the background of Long Island’s exclusive East Hampton community, Death on West End Road kept me guessing the identity of the murderer until the last.

I enjoyed the way the author first identified a number of suspects with creditable motives for the 20 year old cold case and, through initial interviews, uncovered surprising connections within that pool. Re-examination of the information revealed even more motives, leading to another look at each individual. I changed my candidate for the culprit several times before the surprise of an ending.

The differences between the wealthy residents and their privileged lifestyle are sharply contrasted with the lives of the working class and merely well-to-do. And, once again, I was struck by how much power established wealth can wield.

Antonia, the main character, remains somewhat of a mystery to me. I longed for more background on her and how she came to move from her California origins to be an innkeeper on Long Island. Another character I’m curious about is an older man named Joseph who makes the inn his home and who is presented as a friend and confidante of Antonia and who helps her with the mystery through online research. Larry Lipper, a newspaper reporter, provides both comic relief and insight. I loved the scenes depicting Antonia’s and Larry’s interactions.

I’m eager to read the two previous volumes in the series with an eye to learning more about Antonia and her close companions. The book introduces some additional information about the innkeeper/sleuth that is sure to be explored in the next installment. I’m looking forward to it.

I received this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Death On West End Road
By
Carrie Doyle

What it's all about...

Who killed Susie? That's what this book is about. Susie's death is a cold case from years ago. Lovely and just a tad "nosy" innkeeper Antonia has been tasked to find out exactly what happened to sweet Susie. Susie's best friend Pauline hires Antonia to solve Susie's murder. The question really is why now...what are Pauline's motives? We know there have to be ulterior motives.

Why I wanted to read it...

I read and loved the first two cozy mysteries that involved the lovely innkeeper Antonia. This third book had many of the same characters that I have come to enjoy... from the kitchen staff to the gardener...this is a fun series.

What made me truly enjoy this book...

Antonia and her annoying reporter pal Larry Lipper...make this book fun. Larry Lipper is a character who is so much fun to read about but someone you really don't want to know in your real life. Antonia and Larry are becoming a crime solving team. They pursue and they don't give up. They kind of break a lot of rules. They seem to have interviewed every person in the Hamptons in this one! Other characters that I can't leave out are Joseph...Antonia's dear friend...who always has her best interests at heart and her fun clothes loving BFF...Genevieve.

Why you should read it, too...

If you are a reader who enjoys cozy mysteries...this is a great book to read. Note that there is quite a bit of food talk in this and you will most definitely...like Antonia...crave a carb or two while you read this book. Enjoy!

I truly enjoyed Death on West End Road, the third book in the Hamptons Murder Mysteries -- it does not disappoint. But first I would recommend starting by just enjoying the beautiful cover of this book, which even has a bit of sparkle to it. My daughter said she wanted to read the book just for the cover alone!

Antonia Bingham is on the mend from a serial killer's attack in A Death on Lily Pond Lane, and eager to just enjoy the summer season in East Hampton at her Windmill Inn and Restaurant. She wants to enjoy the glorious East Hampton weather and spend some time thinking about her love life, or lack of a love life. Unfortunately, that is not to be. Because she is getting a bit of a reputation for crime solving, one of East Hampton's wealthiest residents, Pauline Framingham requests her services in solving a cold case from the 1990's where her friend, Susie Whitaker, was murdered on the Framingham's tennis court, and Pauline was the main suspect! Antonia wants to refuse, but Pauline makes her an offer she cannot refuse. With the help of her dear friend, Joseph Fowler, and the often unwanted help of journalist Larry Lipper (yes, Larry Lipper!), Antonia finds herself visiting the East Hampton of the summer of 1990 in order to try to solve the crime.

This mystery has plenty of suspects, and so many twists and turns and evasions, that Antonia has to use all of her resources to try to solve it. The ending came as a complete surprise to me! All of the Hamptons Murder Mysteries are wonderful, and I think that Murder on West End Road is my favorite so far. Don't miss out on this great series which puts your right in the lovely town of East Hampton, both past and present.

I received an ARC of this book, but all opinions and thoughts are my own.

It's Summer in the Hamptons and Antonia Bingham is busy running the Windmill Inn and Restaurant during the height of the season as tourists stream in for Summer vacation. If running the Inn wasn't enough to keep Antonia busy, Pauline Framingham, a wealthy local resident, asks her help in solving a cold case from years ago.

Having suspected Pauline in a previous murder investigation, which left Antonia injured, she is hesitant to take on another investigation. As busy as she is, Antonia agrees to look into the murder of Susie Whitaker after feeling that the young girl deserves to know what happened to her...even though Pauline herself was the main suspect in the murder of her BFF all those years ago.

While Antonia lived on the opposite coast when the murder took place all those years ago, she is now a local and has friends who help her delve into solving the mystery of what happened and who killed poor Susie all those years ago.

Love is also in the Hampton air as Antonia helps a guest find the woman he met the year before and his heart has been pining for over the past year. Even Antonia's love life is looking up...can't wait to see where this leads in future installments!

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book and the third installment is just as amazing as the first two I have read. The main character is real and relatable. The other characters add to the charm of the series and make you want to book a room at the Windmill Inn this Summer! This is a definite must read for Cozy lovers this Summer!

This book grabs you and never lets you go - even to the surprise ending!
This third book in the series is even more intense than the first two. If you haven't read the first two you can still read this book as a stand-alone. The first few chapters fill you in on the background, the Inn and the main and subordinate characters - and then you are grabbed and never let go! You are taken on a wild ride of ups and downs, red herrings, lies and deceit, secrets, a cold case, threats, and fear along with a taste of romance and craziness. Our heroine, Antonia while running the Inn and restauant and dealing with her employees personalities is asked to look into an unsolved cold case by the person who was the "person of interest" in that murder many decades ago. Will she be able to put the case to rest before it kills her? She enlists the help of her friend and resident at the Inn Joseph, who does some good research for her and looks out for her in his way and Larry Lipper, the reporter whose connections she needs although he is crass and very annoying. Then there is the personal shock Antonia gets. I couldn't put the book down, each chapter leads you to having to see what happens next. AND there were enough loose ends which will, no doubt, be a good part of the next book in this series. Will Antonia and Nick ever really get together? How will Bridget fit into her life? Will her vengeful EX show up and try to wreck the life she has made for herself now? I received an ARC of this book but the opinions here are strictly voluntary.

Death on West End Road is the third book in A Hamptons Murder Mystery by Carrie Doyle. Antonia Bingham is an Innkeeper in East Hampton, New York. Antonia is striving at continuing to build her successful business as a local Innkeeper, but ends up being asked by a local to look into a murder that occurred 27 years ago. Antonia has to balance running her Inn and finds herself needing to solve the mystery before other people including herself gets hurt.

One of the things that I enjoyed about Antonia is how she becomes dedicated to solving this murder mystery even when other problems continue to occur throughout this story. Death on West End Road was a great book that I could not put down because the suspense had me wanting to find out who was the murderer and how different local people were a part of the story. I look forward to reading the first two books of A Hamptons Murder Mystery to see the beginning of Antonia's story and how she got into sleuthing. For my honest review, I received an advanced reader copy.

Thank You Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book! This review is based on my honest opinion.

This is the third book of the Hampton Murder Series but this is the first time I have read from Carrie Doyle and the first time I am reading the book. The book is based on Antonia, who owns an inn and who part time acts sort of a Nancy Drew solving murder mysteries. First of all, I really like the cover design of this book so five stars for the

In this book, Pauline Framingham, who is actually a wealthy but manipulative woman hires Antonia initially to solve the murder case of her friend Susie, who was murdered in the Franmingham's tennis court back in 1990. The main suspect at that time was Pauline but due to her father's wealth and reputation status, she was able to get away from the case. Antonia, along with Larry tries to find the killer behind Susie's murder and at the same time, Antonia running and dealing with the drama in the inn. To be honest, I really enjoyed reading the book. It was cozy and the author did a good job engaging the reader into the story. It was also funny in some parts and nearly everyone in the book was a suspect that you don't really know who is the actually killer! Overall this is actually an enjoyable and fun mystery thriller to read and you will soon hooked into the story. Four stars!

This is the third book in the Hamptons Murder mystery series by Carrie Doyle.

This book is a bit convoluted if I am honest. Pauline asks Antonia to look into the murder of one of her friends. Come to find out she has done something similar over the years asking various people to look into this particular cold case. Antonia, however, is a much better sleuth than any who came before her.

I didn’t quite understand the concept of this story especially when I got to the end and discovered the identity of the killer. Paulina didn’t really need anyone to find the killer for her since she knew who it was all along. Maybe she just needed someone else to bring this person to justice. Not sure.

Not my favorite cozy story but I did like the setting and the main character of Antonia a lot. I will look into other books featuring this character and see if I like those better.

If you like cozy mysteries, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

It's summertime in the Hamptons and Antonia Bingham is busy running her booked to capacity inn when heiress Pauline Framingham comes to her with a proposition. She wants Antonia to investigate the 20 year old cold case murder of her friend, Susie. Seems that Pauline was the prime suspect but while her family's wealth and prestige helped keep her from prosecution, the police never found the real killer. Pauline is looking for closure and exoneration. Can Antonia ferret out the truth that no one else has ever found. Or will she put herself in jeopardy. The story moved along at a nice pace, as the reader got to know the main suspects through Antonia's interviews and even learned about the murder victim as Antonia develops an empathy with Susie. The investigation is interspersed with current events in Antonia's life, with some things hinted as possible topics for future books. I look forward to more of Antonia's adventures. Disclosure: I am voluntarily reviewing an advance reading copy of this book.

This was an interesting story. Antonia is investigating an old case. There were several suspects in the case but no one was convicted. Who murdered Susie? And why? Antonia questions many people that were around at the time of the murder. She asked everyone who they thought did it. The answer in the end was a surprise.

This is a very good series and the story flows so well. I'm looking forward to the next one to come out. Thanks for the fun read!

Meet Antonia Bingham! She is in her mid-thirties, single and the owner of a successful inn in the wealthy enclave of East Hampton, New York. She is a warm and caring person but a little too nosy when she gets involved in investigating murders that happen in her small corner of the world. This time she is asked to investigate a twenty-seven year old cold case by the woman who was the main suspect. Pauline Framingham, the spoiled heiress to a pharmaceutical fortune was accused of killing her best friend, Susie Whitaker. Pauline was seventeen and had the best lawyers that money could hire, so nothing was proved against her and the case remained unsolved. Now Pauline wants closure above all else! She wants to be proved innocent and the real murderer found! Antonia doesn't think she can do anything about solving the case but agrees to Pauline's proposal. Dodgy witnesses, compromised crime scene and Pauline's own manipulations make Antonia's investigation more difficult and time consuming. The only thing that Antonia knows for sure is that no stranger committed the brutal murder. It was one of the people who made up the tightly bound group of family, friends and staff, but who?

I really enjoyed reading this tightly written and well thought out murder mystery. The characters are well formed and made me feel like I was right there with them. The setting is also done in a descriptive manner that brought it to life and immersed you into this exclusive and elite world. This is the third book in this series and the first that I have read. There was enough background to feel comfortable with both the characters and setting, making it easy to fall right into the engrossing story. The author made me want to go back and read the first two stories in the series, while I wait for the next one to come out. A taut, well thought thru plot with believable characters makes this a book that all mystery fans will enjoy!

This book is the 3rd in a series that visits the Hampton's with Antonia and her cast of sidekicks. It is the best book in the series in that it really starts fleshing out the characters better. You get a much better sense of who everyone is and what their personalities are. This more fleshed out version makes the storyline all that more enjoyable. Although Antonia's best friend is only featured lightly in this book, it is a satisfactory appearance in that it finally adds some heft to her character that makes her worthy of friendship. In this installment to the series, this story finds one of the wealthy elite dangling a cold case to entice Antonia's indignant sense of right and wrong to find the trail of a long gone killer or perhaps one who is hidden in plain sight. While you will figure out who the killer is, it won't take much away from the story and the twists lightly interwoven in it.

This is the third in A Hampton Murder Mystery series but is a great stand alone too. Antonia is the perfect cozy mystery sleuth. The author has given her just the right amount of day job - in this case the owner and chef at an Inn and also a great back story - not great relationships with men including a bad ex husband. All of this just adds to the readability of the series. The re-occurring lesser characters just enhance the story line and the enjoyment.

Antonia Bingham owns and operates an inn in the Hamptons, and it's a busy place this time of the year. One day she receives a visit from Pauline Framingham, one of the richest people who lives there, and Pauline makes a strange request: she wants Antonia to solve a murder that occurred 27 years ago. Pauline's best friend Susie Whitaker was bludgeoned to death on Pauline's tennis court, and while many were suspected - including Pauline herself - no one was ever found guilty of the crime. While there are plenty of suspects, there aren't many clues. Susie was alone on the court, and no one saw anything that pointed to any one person. In the end, it was left as an unsolved crime.

Pauline, however, has asked Antonia to solve it because she was able to solve murders that others were not. It seems no matter how many private detectives Pauline hired, none were able to get to the truth, and Pauline is tired of the cloud of suspicion constantly hanging over her. While every instinct tells Antonia no, her curiosity wins out, and with Pauline agreeing to rent every room in the hotel during her slowest month, Antonia acquiesces.

With the help of her friend Joseph who is the best researcher she knows, and Larry Lipper, a newspaper reporter who manages to ferret out information where Antonia can't, she sets out to find the truth. But it seems everyone she asks has an alibi, and while she still thinks they're all hiding something, she can't prove it, and none of their answers seems genuine. But even though Antonia is determined to find out why 17-year-old Susie was so brutally murdered, it seems there are others who don't want her to know, and will go to great lengths to keep her from finding out the truth...

First off I want to say how much I enjoyed this book. We are given the mystery immediately: the sad death of a young girl who was summering in the Hamptons with her friends. Her life cut short, and at first glance Antonia sees that Pauline wants to find out the truth. Pauline, cold, forbidding and manipulative, is used to getting what she wants, and Antonia is no match against her, so while Antonia isn't a private detective or a police officer, Pauline convinces her she can do what none of them have been able to so far.

But there is more to the story (as we know there will be) and it is indeed a mystery worth reading. The tale is spun as well as a tapestry; each thread is is twisted with another just enough to keep us wondering who the murderer could be. The clues are there, but they are well hidden within the narrative; I realized the truth just shortly before Antonia herself, which makes a very good book indeed.

All the main characters are given life and breadth and you get a feel for the type of people they are. Antonia has her issues to deal with, but she's a caring and loyal friend, and while her curiosity sometimes takes her places she'd rather not be, her heart always brings her back to what's important in life; and Larry's a riot - for all his faults, he's a good friend. Pauline was indeed humorless and it's hard to find sympathy for her character, but I don't think we were meant to do so.

In the end, when the murderer is discovered, you find out the true measure of people and the lengths they will go to to keep the secrets of the dead. It is hard to define what causes people to do the things they do, and you wonder at their reasoning for doing so. But even knowing this, secrets have a way of coming forth even when you try your best to keep them hidden forever. All in all, a wonderful book with plenty of twists and turns, and I hope to see many more from this author. Highly recommended.

Death on West End Road by Carrie Doyle is the third book in the Hamptons Murder Mystery series and I have to say I think this one is my favorite.....so far. I am taking the time to read all four of the books that have been written in this series in order back to back and I just love the series for a number of reasons.

The Hamptons Murder Mystery series has one very unique difference from other cozy mysteries. This difference really makes the series stand out. The difference is that the police or detectives are not a main aspect. The main character tries to stay as far away from them as possible .... and I tthink she does a very good job of it.

Main character Antonia Bingham owns the Windmill Inn in the East Hamptons in New York. The inn consists of a restaurant and rooms to rent. Antonia lives in a small apartment, her friend and father figure Joseph lives in a second apartment upstairs and the two of them seem to get roped into solving murders. Okay Antonia more than Joseph but he gets involved by doing research and being Antonia's sounding board.

In Death on West End Road Antonia is approached by Pauline Framingham to look into a cold case. Pauline is from a powerful family in town and when she was a teenager one of her closest friends was murdered on the family's tennis court and the case has never been solved. Most people back then believed that Pauline murdered her friend Susie and the family paid to have it covered up. But Pauline insists that she is innocent and wants Antonia to finally solve the case and bring closure to everyone involved. Unfortunately Antonia learns that Pauline has lied about quite a lot of things and finds it hard to not think of her as the killer.

Antonia with the help of Joseph and Larry Lipper, the crime reporter for the local newspaper, decides to look into Susie's case and begin to interview everyone that was a part of the group of friends back then. They soon learn that everyone is still afraid of Pauline and are not completely honest with Antonia.

When people start leaving town and a restraining order is about to placed on Antonia for interferring, Antonia decides to stop investigating and put all her energy into the inn where it should be. But something keeps pulling her into Susie's case........

Death on West End Road is a remarkable story to read. Readers are drawn into the story immediately and will also want to see justice for Susie. Reading about a cold case is always an interesting read and seeing the case in fresh eyes always helps and Antonia is relentless is getting the killer and bringing justice to those who need it. I was hooked as soon as I started reading the first book in this series, Death on Windmill Way and cannot wait to dig into Death on Bull Path......

Death on West end Road, the third in the Hamptons Murder Mystery series was a winner! I appreciate the writing style of author Carrie Doyle. Her dialog is snappy - never boring or boged down. The author fleshes out her characters slowly over the span of the first three books but seems to leave just enough behind to perhaps carry on into additional mysteries. (At least I hope that there will be more!)

The book gets right into the thick of things with details of the cold-case murder on a wealthy Hampton estate. Never a dull moment in this book as our inn-keeper Antonia balances the running of her establishment, her personal life and her attempt to be a Nancy Drew-type detective and solve this long-ago murder. The cast of characters were so well fleshed out my minds-eye could visualize each one. Author Carrie Doyle really does have a knack of bring her characters to life.

I found this murder mystery even more of a fast page-turner than the previous two in the series. I must say, I normally read a lot of British murder mysteries but this book rated right up there with the best of them. I had a very hard time figuring out "who dun-it". In my book, that means a lot!

I will be ever so sad if this is the end of the series. The characters have become quite familiar, like old friends, and I know that there is so much more to learn about each one. So if the author is reading this review- PLEASE - continue this series!!

This is a cold-case mystery (20 years old) set in the Hamptons, home of lots of rich people. One home they mentioned cost $65 million and they talked about tearing these homes down and rebuilding! Crazy! There were several interesting subplots such as an unknown relative turning up and an Italian visitor looking for a woman named Elizabeth. I liked the second subplot. It was enjoyable and Giorgio was nice. I also liked the restaurant and inn setting.

A lot of the characters aren't likeable (including one or two who work in the restaurant) but Antonia is. Her friend Larry, a crime reporter who helps her with the case, can be brusque but he's a good guy. At the beginning when Pauline wanted Antonia to solve the case she was determined but later on seemed to be manipulative.

The book was okay but I might not read any more in the series. A different type of case might have appealed to me more.

Antonia is “done with murders” when she’s approached by Pauline to solve the murder of her best friend, a cold case from many years ago. She is hesitant to agree to the investigation as she is just recovering from an injury. It’s also busy season and she needs to run her inn.

Pauline has come to Antonia for help as no one she has hired over the years has been able to get to the truth. She agrees as she believing that the truth deserves to be uncovered…and Pauline has agreed to rent every room in the hotel during her slowest month. With the help of Joseph and Larry, she begins her investigation…where everyone has an alibi and appears to be hiding something.

I enjoyed the book and felt that it was a good mystery as I was discovering “who did it” as Antonia was. While I read this book as a stand alone, I believe that some of my questions about backstories would be answered if I had read the books in order. All in all, well worth the read…and going back to pick up the first two.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was beautifully written. The author made me keep going.. I couldn’t stop reading it. I couldn’t put it down. It’s a mixture of a lot of murder mystery and a dash of humor and romance. I have yet to read her previous books in this series but the reader doesn’t have to really read the previous ones to understand this book.

The book is about Antonia, an innkeeper, chef, and amateur sleuth in East Hamptons. She’s hired by Pauline Framingham, a wealthy heiress who controls the entire town, to investigate and solve a cold case from the 1990s when one of her best friends Susie was violently murdered. As a naturally nosy person, a history of success in solving crimes, and a monetary deal (Pauline would book all the rooms at her inn on her slowest month), she just couldn’t resist the deal. As Antonia investigates, she finds out that more and more people could be the suspect, finding the case difficult to solve when she’s caught in a web of lies. Who killed Susie? What was the motive of the crime? Who is telling the truth? Is Pauline really just a powerful bored wealthy woman who likes to manipulate people, hence, playing Antonia?

There were a lot of characters in this story but for one second, I was never lost. Each character is interesting and the story flowed smoothly. I never guessed who the real killer was until the author actually revealed it. There was a sprinkle of romance in this book as well and even that part was beautifully written. I really enjoyed this book and I would definitely read Carrie Doyle’s previous ones. I’m looking forward to her new book coming out in March.

Death on West End Road by Carrie Doyle is the third book in Hamptons Murder Mysteries but can be read as a standalone.

This is the first book in a series that I have read, even so I had no trouble connecting the dots or following the story. All references to the past occurrences are clearly explained and made me want to go back to the first book and read in order. Which I will definitely do.

Antonia Bingham is a innkeeper who likes to solve mysteries. But the third book she has already established herself as someone who can help others find out the truth. So it comes as no surprise when a rich socialite Pauline Framingham requests her help in solving her friends murder that happened many years ago.
What does come as a surprise is the fact that everyone advises Antonia not to take the case, as Pauline is not what she seems.

I especially liked the main protagonist. She is a smart, level-headed woman with an inquisitive mind. She doesn't put herself in dangerous situations nor does she wait for clues to fall in her lap. She has a successful career, many friends and not so great love life.
I also enjoyed reading about her friends, how supportive of her every endeavor they all were and how they even brought their strengths and skills to helping Antonia.

Setting is so magnificent, reading about Hamptons and its beauties really does add to the story.
Mystery was well developed with several red herrings to keep things interesting.

All in all a great cozy for real mystery lovers.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I can't wait to read more! Antonia Bingham, an innkeeper in the Hamptons, receives an odd request from Pauline Framingham. Pauline wants her to investigate the murder of Susie Whitaker, a cold case from many years before. Pauline is an heiress used to getting her way and not afraid to use her family's influence to get it. As Antonia starts to look into it she encounters many suspects and many twists and turns. Should Antonia have turned her down? What secrets does she uncover? Great characters and a mystery that will have you turning the pages! Highly recommend!

This is another winner in the Hamptons Murder Mystery series with lots of suspects in a 27 year old mystery, witty dialogue, surprises, twists and turns. I feel like I have become friends with Antonia Bingham, Windmill Inn owner and amateur sleuth and love her interactions with the other colorful characters. This is a great summer read because you can escape on a virtual vacation to East Hampton. Ms. Doyle never disappoints and I look forward to reading more from this talented author. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
