I am emotionally drained. Spiritually empty. I feel as if I was sucked into a vortex of emotions and spat out wrecked and drained. This is Sal Mason at her storytelling best. It is realistic, honest, human. A jagged tear where my heart should be. So much to be said about this story but it is all jumbled and can't quite make itself known. This is heavy and thought provoking and asks the question is it right to take a life for a life? Does it make it right? Would you feel better? I don't know. Everything changes when it becomes personal. The characters were amazing in this story. The different personalities, family dynamics, the hopes and fears. Did I make the right decision? Did I do enough? Is it ever enough when a life is on the line? This story will stay with me a long time so many kudos Ms. Mason for a job well done.
This is an incredibly realistic story that certainly grabbed me and pulled at my heart! I did linger on the story in my mind for a long time after reading. The characters are so believable and the story is extremely well-written. You should not miss this story.
