The houses of Dawn and Violeta have declared war and I have to stop them. But I’m not alone.
My name is Anastasia Noble and I have to go against my family to save everyone I love. After finding out secrets that have been hidden for years, now more than ever Anastasia and her men need to stop her sister before it’s too late.
They say dreams don’t always come true. But mine do.
When gods and familiars go to war, not everyone can make it out alive. 18+ RH. The final book in The Familiar Empire Series.
G. Bailey is a USA Today bestselling author of books that are filled with everything from dragons to pirates. Plus, fantasy worlds and breath-taking adventures. Oh, and some swoon-worthy men that no girl could forget. G. Bailey is from the very rainy U.K. where she lives with her husband, two children and three cheeky dogs.
I was left disappointed by the conclusion in Anastasia's story. I felt like everything was rushed to put an end to it, and also some of the questions were left unanswered.
I am so glad that we got this story. I was wanting Ana to have her HEA, and here we go. This was well written and well worth the wait.
Ana's journey was not easy, it was full of heartbreak, betrayal and loss. Gem does a great job of creating these characters and worlds, meshing then together, and making memorable stories. She can make you cry, laugh out loud and cheer the characters on. She has a great knack for entertainment, and I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next.
But The Shadow Wolf is yet another powerful and emotional story. Well done Gem.
I wasn't expecting the altercation between Ana and Bethany to happen how it did. I am still confused how Bethany and their Aunt could be so horrible. Ana was understandably upset when she found her parents and perhaps things would have gone better with Bethany if their parents tried to contact her first. Still its an interesting series and I loved that I got to see what happened after the battle.
It’s good to see a HEA ending, and I wonder if there will be anything else coming out of this universe, but I feel things ended a little too quickly or something, I’m not sure how I actually feel.
I was a little disappointed with how quick the war went, mainly because this had been built up since the first book and I was looking for some serious fight scenes, maybe dragged it out a little more, or a bit more villain monologue; maybe attempt to talk to Bethany (her parents at least) rather than Courtney. Given the distraction Bethany wrought, I would have though there be more turmoil from the humans or more reluctance for peace, I didn’t get the sense of justice being served for such heinous acts. (Doesn’t matter that Bethany is her sister.)
I also get the storyline about the parents doing anything to keep their children safe but I got so hung up on the fact that five years prior Anas’ parents made the island safe with the barrier but still didn’t collect them, I know, I know.... there wouldn’t be a story had this happen but I’m just saying you can’t have it both ways, so I would have understood if Ana held on to her anger, because so much could have been different if all the girls were brought to island sooner.
Could be me but I didn’t see much of how the book tied in the old gods like it was perceived in the second book. The whole history repeating itself but not. All of their familiars are ancients and could turn into other animals and yes we saw a few scenes of this but I felt that this was sometimes glossed over (special but not special) this is supposed to set them apart from other familiars, give them a bit of an edge in the war but I don’t feel this was explored enough.
Don’t get me wrong I liked the series and I absolutely love Gems’ writing, I’m just saying that the last book didn’t quite hit my mark.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The map to the island that was the answer to everything was shown to her by a dying god.
She followed her instincts and took her boys there to see if help could be found before blood was spilled.
Her past became her present and a new future lay ahead, there was only one remaining question, what would happen with Bethany and her war..
This is the third and final part to the familiar empire series. "The missing wolf" and "The dying wolf" are the previous two books in reading order.
Now the story continues as they search for a way to bring peace to all.
I'm not sure what I expected but this book didnt quite fit the series. The essence of the familiars seemed to disappear into the background until the final few chapters and it all felt very human.
The dreams Ana had previously had almost promised a fierce and ferocious battle with her sister and aunt but I felt that when the time came it was rushed and the detail was a little lacking.
All in all a fantastic series, but the concluding part could of been better.
What a series. The last book ended with Anastasia being injured by her power hungry sister Bethany who murdered their three uncle's with the help of cold frustrated aunt Courtney. Before being rescued by her three guys, Anastasia met her mysterious protector who, mortally wounded informed her of her origins and implanted in her brain, a map to a secret location where she must go to fulfill her destiny. When the escape happens Bethany gets into a rage and vows to track her sister back and kill her as she posed a threat to her mad plan of world conquest.
In this final chapter of the trilogy, filled with masterfully written and riveting plot, The author has succeeded in creating a sequel to a story that captivates the reader from the start . Physical attraction, secrets, family roots discovery, a dictatorial society, mysteries, targeted preys and, multiple twists and turns make this story a must read that I recommend strongly and rate 5 Stars even if it deserves a higher rating.
I have loved this story since I first read it in an anthology forever ago. I was so happy to see the author continue with the story and give Ana her happily ever after. The twist with the concept of familiars was something I haven’t read before. Instead of people turning into animals like shifters or witches gaining a familiar animal, this is something completely different. It’s magical yet still unique.
The journey of Ana was full of heartbreak including betrayal and loss. The revelation of her parents tugged on my heart the most especially after the end of the final battle with Bethany. I had hoped for a happy ending for Bethany but that wasn’t in the cards for her. The ending is very emotional yet powerful.
Like I said, this is one of my favorites from G. Bailey and I cannot wait to read more of her work.
I've kept up with these books from the beginning and they are a great read, wonderful characters and plots. However I've waited ages for this last book on the edge of my seat thinking what will happen and I have to be honest I felt the book was terribly rushed !! Where there should of been a huge fight scene between the sisters as this is the build up in these books from the beginning? it lacked that at the end and seemed to end on yes a wonderful happy note but also with no real story. I love G Bailey and she can definitely write as her other books are amazing but this was rushed and didn't seem to have the love she puts in most her other books. However judge for yourself its still worth a read.
I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.
This was a great series. I loved all of the characters and side characters. It was sad about the deaths that happened at the end, but Anastasia is tough and knows how to get through tough times.
As always, I wish the battle scene was more involved and detailed. We knew it was coming and it went by so quickly in the end.
I also wish there were more moments with Anastasia and Shadow. They have this so connecting, but there wasn't a lot of moments with just the two of them.
Overall, I really liked this series and I'm so glad I got a chance to read this novel!
SW is the conclusion to the Familiar Empire trilogy, where everything pertaining to Anastasia Noble, Laim, Mason & Alex. Answers are given to questions that arised in books 1 & 2 such as...spoilers, don't you dare, but a couple questions do arise such as nope spoilers. The 1 complaint I have is that there was this big buildup, the big O with the good versus bad, only for it to not be that satisfying so not a big O, just a small O lol, an abrupt end. However, I did enjoy reading about Ana & her guys.
This is the last book in this series and it is a brilliant conclusion to an interesting and exciting series. This book answers the questions we all wanted to know but with that emotions are high and it sets off events that come! Ana and her mates along with the secondary characters are fantastic and pull you in making you want to know about everything to do with them and hold your attention.
This series is unique, exciting and action packed.
Can’t wait to see what this author comes up with next.
*WARNING* contains explicit adult situations This was the perfect ending to this series. My favorite part about it....not everything was rainbows and unicorns! Yes, this has a happy ending, but the ending of chapter 20 made me cry like a baby. This story lost characters you may have loved or may have been rooting for, but that just made it better. I think you should read these books in order to get the full effect of the story. Well written. Wonderful characters. Great storyline with unexpected plot twists.
This was the last in this series. I had been anticipating this last one and the build up for this final battle between sisters was one that I expected to explode. However it really didn’t blow up as the previous books made this out to be. The battle was low level at best. The characters were still well developed but I just wanted to see this epic battle that didn’t happen. There is a HEA still so that was a desired ending. I still loved the series but I just ended it feeling like something was missing.
Wow, what an ending. Heartbreaking, original and unputdownable! I really enjoyed the world that G Bailey built with this series, the concept of the familiars isn't like anything else I've ever read. I read this in almost one sitting and it really ticked all the boxes of what of Love in paranormal RH. Anastasia is a fantastic heroine and her guy's are great. Complete series - definitely read these if you haven't yet
What a great ending to this exciting series. Yes it is a quick read and yes I think the fight scene was too quick but as soon as I started reading I was once again completely invested in Ana, Alex, Liam snd Mason...not to mention all the supporting characters both old and new! Like always Alex is my fav out of the guys and I loved seeing him develop even further in this book, I think besides Ana he really had more to overcome than the other guys! I loved meeting Ana’s parents and really finding out what they had gone through. There are so many happy moments in this book but also some heartache that really touches the heart. I loved the ending and I felt satisfied and was not left with heaps of questions. I would love to read about Ana’s sisters, Phoebe and Skye, and look back on this unique world more in the future! Great series!
I kinda enjoyed the premises for the first two books, RH is not my favorite but I can get on board when it's done subtly. Which seemed to be the case originally. I couldn't get past the first chapter. I felt like I was reading an unedited story on Watt Pad, or should have been. From the first page of chapter one my opinion on Annabelle plummeted. I honestly don't care for how this story ends with how book three starts. But Happy Reading for those of you that do.
Oh my word the feels in this book! So many things are revealed, and so many emotions because of what is revealed. This is a great ending to what has been an amazing series. Ana and her guys are such strong unit that nothing can keep them apart. I have really enjoyed this series and cannot wait to see what the author comes up with next.
I was expecting a bit more excitement as the last instalment. I felt that Anastasia moved on and accepted her parents way to quickly. Actually, the whole story just went super quick as if the author was just trying to get everything in and finish the book. Overall, it was a good read, but could definitely have been better.
Wow what a beautiful ending to this series! I don’t think it could have been any better. I love seeing the growth of the family at the end. Really makes the story feel complete. Thank you G.Bailey for writing another beautiful series that enraptured me from the very beginning!!! I can’t wait to read your next series!!!
What a great ending to an awesome series. I loved the world the author created, with familiars was both different to typical 'familiars' yet great. The characters of this series were brilliant, reading their growth / development and how it all come together. The final battle was a bit short in my opinion, but didn't detract from the overall awesomeness of the series. Highly recommend.
Well damn I hate that this is the end of a great little series, it was truly an awesome story with great characters that were likable and easy to follow. A little surprised at the way it ended but it’s a good ending all the same and I hope you enjoy it too. A good recommend
***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.***
So I absolutely love G Bailey and most of her books! This one was a let down. It was still good but it had so much potential. I felt as though this book was rushed and the story line fell flat. The good part was the steamy sex scenes. I look forward to reading more work from G Bailey, but this was a disappointment.
What I have always loved about G. Baily is that her writing is so easy to read. It just flows so well and before you know it you have an hole series read. The Familiar Empire was really fun to read and easy to get into. The story flowed so well that I forgot I even read it.
Great end to an amazing series, loved all the books from start to finish, characters are wonderful and they take you on an amazing adventure, hope we get a spin off series just so we can see what happens to the family as they grow up, outstanding story as always can wait to see what’s next 😀😀
I don't think the author read any of these books after writing the first draft. So. Many. Inconsistencies! Super-annoying. I skimmed most of this one. It was short anyway. I just could not engage. Sigh.
Huh. I was waiting for the big, bad battle and it fizzled majorly. The whole book lost the spark that was in the first 2. The relationships were even on low mode. Her acceptance of the whole island and her parents didn't seem like her from the first two books.
Story continues with some surprising bombs and of course having to go against her sister. I love the Growth nd the tears with how everything wrapped itself up. Will definitely be reading this series again
This book is absolutely brilliant. It didn't get boring whatsoever and kept me turning pages until I finished. Absolutely love all of the characters and the ending was lovely too.
I am glad that everything worked out for them and she finally made peace with her parents before they died since her mom died protecting her when she killed her own daughter.
