After both his parents die, Chris is thrust into a new life with his widowed aunt and 14-year-old cousin, who live in a rural Kentucky town, where Chris has to start high school after being homeschooled his whole life. As if that wasn't bad enough, there's a fellow student who everyone warns him to stay away from because of some terrible secret where eight people went missing.

But, no matter how Chris tries to avoid him, he ends up bumping into him and finds himself caught up in a murderous plot where he barely escapes being one of the next victims. He becomes swooped up in a mysterious adventure where the local pizza shop, and even the school's weird principal, are all involved. Is anyone who they seem to be? What is going on in this little town, and, wait, where did you say we're going next?

Abbigayle Grace has been obsessed with writing since she was able to read and spent her childhood making up the most outlandish stories with her four sisters and brother. With her imagination continually fueled, coupled with enthusiastic encouragement from her family, there’s never been any doubt that she’d be a writer.

Unless she's rock climbing, you won’t find her without a notebook and pen in her hand, and even then, it’s probably in her back pocket. Her stories are adventurous, magical and humorous, while her Christian faith is apparent in her characters.

Superb writing from a young author.

This developing author shows great mastery of language that will serve her well if she pursues a fiction-writing career. Offering lyrical sentences without overly florid description, the prose surpasses that of some much older writers. The same goes for punctuation style; excellent use of em-dashes in particular.

It's a short novel, simple but not dumbed down, suitable for middle grade readers and up. I particularly liked Eldred as a character. The story needs more fleshing out, particularly in the first part of this three-part tale rooted in classic Western fantasy concepts. That first part felt rushed. The rest, though, alleviated this concern. That ending! It was perfect.

There is one major e-book formatting problem (at least on Kindle) in that there are multiple line breaks between each paragraph, creating excessive white space where no line breaks should appear.

Such an awesome story that takes you from a rural town pizza shop into mystery, magic, adventure, humor, romance, life, and death.

There's a new kid in school who's lost both his parents and living with his widowed aunt and younger cousin. Things are a little awkward for him from the beginning and then gets scared by another boy who everyone tells him to avoid.

He ends up getting into trouble with the other kid and almost dies in the process. Then things get really weird...

Kids and teens will love this series - yes, there's some death and tragedy, but I'm looking forward to how it plays out in the next book.

The romance is sweet and there's a quite a bit of humor - but nothing I found inappropriate.

I can't wait to read the rest of the book series!

Such a lovely book! It was an easy and cute read and I needed exactly something like this. I liked the writing style and I’m amazed by the amazing world building. It’s a really good job for such a young author!

Okay it was a bit boring at times but I think it’s because I’m kinda used to hard fantasy and a lot of suspense. The book itself was a bit childish which I don’t think should be taken as a negative thing. Maybe it just isn’t for my age or my reading level. I’ll highly recommend it for every younger kid though. It was light and easy to read, the hint of humor made it even more enjoyable and the cute romance contributed perfectly to the story.

The characters are something it could be work on a little bit more, as well as the the main character’s feelings. If we had a little more of the feelings and thoughts he had while finding all this new world and stuff AND falling in love, it could get the readers even more attached to him. Tho I still loved every single character.

The story showed many valuable things and it could leave u thinking about some things as well as make u ask yourself some questions. So yeah, overall it was a really nice read and I definitely don’t deny reading it. I can only say good job to the author and encourage her to continue writing.

This book was truly fascinating, although there were some grammar and spelling errors that can easily be fixed with a couple of proof reads. I finished in one sitting and do not regret it one bit! Abbigayle Grace you did amazing! This book is absolutely great for young readers that want to explore the world of fantasy books! There is no sex, kissing, poor language, etc. which again, is great for young readers! I can’t wait to read more of her books, and I definitely will! Please read this right now! It’s completely worth it, Abbigayle never stop writing, you have so much potential!

Elfboy The Pizza Shop Chronicles is a wonderful fantasy story that I would reccomend reading to kids (obviously not beginning readers like I am working with but late elementary, middle school and even high school kids) and adults. It is wonderfully written, with well developed and interesting characters from the get go. Not once did I have to ask myself when will the story really begin. Not one dull moment. Also like the fact that it is clean reading material that both kids and adults can read and as a avid reader I cannot stress how important that is to me. The entire book from begining to end is filled with great characteristics and great plot and I can't wait for more. Heavily reccommended.

What I Did Like:
-The characters. Specifically I liked Tachla and El. They felt like they had hidden depth and potential that we were only tapping into.
-Short chapters kept up the fast pace of the book. I liked when I can move quickly through a book because I keep thinking, “I have time for one more chapter”.
-Religion angle worked. I wasn’t expecting to get religion (you normally don’t see a commonplace religion in the elf world in fantasy) and I was surprised to see how it was featured. With one minor exception, I’d say it worked.
-Dragons. The portrayal of dragons in this one as unique and fun! I enjoyed it. In fact, the dragon may have been my favorite character.

Who Should Read This One:
-If you’re into fantasy stories but want something a little different, you may like the subtle changes in this one.

My Rating: 3 Stars. This is a good YA fantasy, but it may not appeal to everyone.

A fun, easy YA read! (I think it would be better for the younger end, though.) The writing was simple, and the plot moved really fast. I would've liked things to be explained more--especially fleshing out the characters--because everything seemed to come easy for the characters, but this was an inventive, quick take on a world with elves, fairies, goblins, and dragons!
