Deception tore them apart, but Pete and Scottie are drawn to each other like a moth to the flame. Trust and friendships are tested in Pete’s mission to rewrite the legend of the golden reef before time runs out.
Scottie Pearce never planned on falling for anyone, especially not the geeky history graduate nearly half his age. He and his lover have unfinished business. But is nature conspiring against them? The desert trying to tear them apart?
When secrets are revealed, who will be left standing?
Outback Treasure II is a blazing inferno, an epic tale of lust and love. But is time running out as these men fight to keep that which they treasure most… their outback treasure.
By day Ann Grech lives in the corporate world and can be found sitting behind a desk typing away at reports and papers or lecturing to a room full of students. She graduated with a PhD in 2016 and is now an over-qualified nerd. Glasses, briefcase, high heels and a pencil skirt, she’s got the librarian look nailed too. If only they knew! She swears like a sailor, so that’s got to be a hint. The other one was “the look” from her tattoo artist when she told him that she wanted her kids initials “B” and “J” tattooed on her foot. It took a second to register that it might be a bad idea. She’s never entirely fit in and loves escaping into a book—whether it’s reading or writing one. But she’s found her tribe now and loves her MM book world family. She dislikes cooking, but loves eating, can’t figure out technology, but is addicted to it, and her guilty pleasure is Byron Bay Cookies. Oh and shoes. And lingerie. And maybe handbags too. Well, if we’re being honest, we’d probably have to add her library too given the state of her credit card every month (what can she say, she’s a bookworm at heart)! She also publishes her raunchier short stories under her pen name, Olive Hiscock.
Scottie and Pete together are contented but they still hide their love that they have for each other from others....
Australian Outback gay guy , Scottie thinks that his workers wouldn't see that it was right.. . The Australian Outback holds so much more of everything , scorching sun , lack of rain, dingo's , roo's , you name it the Outback has it..... Floods and drought and bush fires and cyclones. Pete continues his digging for gold and what he finds is like music to his ears ... It is hard to imagine Pete is from the city in Sydney , his life is here in the Outback.
This is another beautiful read following Scottie and Pete at Pearce Station . Outback way of life is detailed so very well you can taste the heat the sweat , the fires . All the characters have a story to tell each their own . The ending is superb , togetherness and commitment in the extreme australian heat where the temperatures soar to boiling point then bushfires that decimate the landscape . where animals are left dying .. But , after the rain come life , a whole new landscape and a landscape that hold the love of Scottie and Pete.
Book #2. Our city boy, Pete, 25, ginger, thinks he has ruined his chances at the Station because of his omission. He never talked about his mythical treasure, because he was so wrapped up in the reality of Scottie's arms... and the sheer happiness he found at Pearce Station and the land. When he got to town, Pete signed the permit over to Scottie and all was lost, until Scottie came after him. Hallelujah ! Then we get back to more hot, sizzling sexiness once again. When back at the Station after some talks, they guys go to check out the spot Pete found in his research. It's there in all of it's glory. There is a close call and Pete is saved once again by Scottie. No gold this time, but hope isn't gone.
We watch their emotions escalate, and through sickness, and another trek to find gold, they are interrupted by fire. The close call brings Scottie's decision to come out, which makes them face homophobia in town. Scottie and Pete stand strong, and some loyal folks step up.
I loved this story, #1 and #2. It's so rewarding, heartwarming, emotional and loving. It's just grand ! Highly recommended. ENJOY !
Their reunion.. sigh. "I found a treasure in the outback worth far more to me than gold." Their relationship continues to grow in love but the strains of not being out are beginning to take a toll. Love and family in the outback. Hard work, perseverance, adversity, following your dreams. 4.5stars
Pete and Scottie get there HEA in book 2 of this captivating duo of reads. We get answers to the questions and intrigue from Book 1 and the story flows well and completes nicely over the 2 books. If you like age gap reads then I recommend this duo!
❤ 4.5 stars. The story continues with Pete and Scottie worlds of heartbreak with deceit with finding out a miners lease in Petes hands. Emotions where high as the men are very much in love but love needs more or does it. A mystery now in Scotties hands to find if the tale of the gold reef is on his land. A great choice knowing that Pete was Team Jacob..lol Includes the harsh weather of the outback, sickness, hot sexy scenes, drama and much more of their tales. Age Gap, Closeted Character. A fantastic ending to the book and series. Beautiful told with both POVs the author has summed up our Aussie lands and weather perfectly.
The Outback Treasure Duet is the story of Scottie Pearce and Pete McKenzie. Scottie is the owner of an enormous cattle station (or ranch for those of us in North America) in Australia's very isolated Outback. Pete is a young college graduate who has spent most of the past decade chasing a myth; trying to discover if the legends of finding gold in the Outback were true.
Scottie is gay. We don't get to know much about his back story, or when he realized this about himself, but there is no question in his own mind. He knows who he is - but he has terrible difficulty accepting it. Because of the environment he lives in, Scottie is deeply in the closet, and he has no hope of ever being able to come out. He believes it would put the Station at risk; homophobia is so deeply ingrained he is certain his suppliers and customers would refuse to deal with him if they knew his secret.
Pete, on the other hand, is younger and was raised in the city where attitudes are more progressive. He has been out for ages and hasn't ever had to deal with the bigotry Scottie has lived with his entire life.
Pete arrives in the Outback to investigate his wild theory that gold may be located on Pearce Station. Pete and Scottie connect immediately, and quickly their attraction turns into more. In the space of a few short days, the two men fall deeply in love.
Book 1 ends with a horrible misunderstanding between them - Scottie discovers that Pete holds a mining permit for his land - and, terrified that Pete wants to tear up his beloved station with open pit mines, Scottie demands Pete leave.
After a few miserable days where both men are heartbroken, Scottie's beloved grandmother, affectionately called Nan, sits him down and tells him she, his Ma and his sister Ally all know his secret. They want Scottie to go bring Pete home. The fact that Scottie is gay doesn't matter one bit to the people who truly love him.
Even though the immediate family knows and fully accepts Scottie and Pete's relationship, Scottie is still convinced that he must keep their love a secret in order to protect the ranch. He fears losing everything because people will stop dealing with the station. His Nan and his Ma both try to convince him to come out - but he hesitates.
Pete, unused to having to hide who he is, finds it increasingly difficult to be back in the closet. He wants nothing more than to be able to touch Scottie in public without becoming a pariah. But he knows what the consequences could be, and he can't risk it. He's willing to hide for as long as it takes.
Scottie continues to hide until Mother Nature threatens both their lives. All at once it becomes blindingly clear to Scottie that Pete is more important to him than anything. And that gives him the courage to finally, fully accept who he is.
I devoured this lovely story. I fell in love with Scottie from the start, and the message about not being able to truly love anyone until you accept yourself is so real… As someone in her 40's who took a LONG time to accept herself - I KNOW this to be true.
According to Ann's website, there will be a third book set in the Outback focusing on Scottie's sister Ally. I can't wait for the journey back to Pearce Station!
This story continues on directly from the first book, so if you haven’t read that you need to and it’s such a great story, a total delight to read.
Scottie and Pete together make a fantastic couple, it seems that opposites do attract but when it’s all said and done they really weren’t that opposite in many ways. Both are diligent workers, both physically and with research, both are dedicated to the land- sure Pete became more in sync with the outback through his experience but love it and appreciate it- he did. Both enjoy the relationships with family and friends/co-workers on the station and both have a deep abiding love for each other. They both understand the delicate situation of ‘being out’ as well.
The descriptions of the land are amazing and extremely vivid in detail, it again makes you want to jump in the car and visit; maybe not in summer so much. It does get blazing hot out there.
The hardships faced by being a landowner are further explored and so well. The recent drought we have been through was so perfectly described that it felt like this author actually liked there. There are many intense situations in the story that has you on the edge of your seat and you definitely experience all of the emotions with the characters. Once again, I think that’s one of this author's best attributes as a writer- she makes her readers feel like participants in the story, not just observers.
A fabulous story that is extremely entertaining and makes up the conclusion to a sensational duet.
Ann Grech continues Scottie Pearce and Pete McKenzie's story in her dramatic conclusion of OUTBACK TREASURE. Hearts were broken, betrayals felt and secrets still hidden at the end of Book 1, what does Ann have in store for these two men in Book 2?
With Pete no longer at Pearce Station, Scottie is now at a loss ... a big piece of his heart is missing. Yes, he's still angry ... but is it hurt more than anger? Did he act too quickly and too rashly? Should he have allowed Pete time to explain? Can he "eat his words" and seek out the only man he has ever loved? Will Pete forgive Scottie for his words and take him back? Will Scottie come clean about his love for Pete or will his fear of his life being destroyed keep their love hidden from outside eyes? Will Pete finally have the opportunity to resolve his theory about Byron's Gold?
Once again Ann gives a truly magical insight and journey of two men's love and how they cope with their relationship and people's reaction to them. Scottie and Pete fight hard to protect their love, their family and life at Pearce Station. Dangers are numerous with illness, fire and animals threatening lives. Together they must face the ugliness of people reacting to their lifestyle, threats to their very happiness.
Ann's backdrop of the Australian outback is a major part of this story. It is the vivid descriptions and emotions that Ann uses that has made reading this book just as addictive as the first book. I wanted to be there physically as well as mentally. The story building to a climax that had me grinning all over.
OUTBACK TREASURE - PEARCE STATION, would have to be Ann's best work. It was beautifully written and the images and emotions that she evoked were both stunning and deep. Definitely do not miss out on reading this duet.
This is book two in the Pearce Station Duet and its conclusion, and you absolutely need to read book 1 first. Also, if you haven't read Outback Treasure I, this review will contain spoilers, so proceed at your own risk.
This installment continues directly from where book 1 ended and I loved it! From the gorgeous descriptions of the Australian Outback to learning a lot of what goes on in a Station and the impact from the global warming on both the land and all its inhabitants, plus a few more twists and turns that seem very prevalent in the news as of late, I found it difficult to put it down until I finished it.
Scottie and Pete managed to mend their relationship after Pete's secret was revealed, but Scottie isn't ready to come out of the closet for fear of how it might affect the Station and his ability to take care of his nan, mom and sister. Even if they're well aware that he's with Pete, he's aware not everyone would be as nice as they are.
I loved Scottie and Pete together and while in book 1 I wanted to shake some sense into Pete, and I kinda wanted to do that to Scottie in this one—especially since he hurt Pete whenever he pushed him away—I could understand why he didn't want to come out, especially once we saw some of the reactions when he finally did. Still, Pete and Scottie were obviously meant for each other and it was great seeing them support each other in their endeavors.
This book had a bit of everything, romance, adventure and angst, it was fast-paced and balanced and a fitting conclusion to Pete and Scottie's love story. Very recommendable!

Book 2 in this delectable story is a treat for all of the senses...
You absolutely feel like you are lying under the endless sky , feel the heat of the desert in your bones and cry as you read of the desperate need for water on all living creatures.
Life in the outback is back breaking work, and so all of it's inhabitants are hardened, not by choice. Scottie is a pillar of the community, well respected and loved, but he is well aware of the prejudices of the country folk, can he risk his reputation for love ? He is at a crossroads in his life, having pushed Pete's love away he is now questioning his very being.
Pete has found Byron's Gold after all, only not in a nugget but in a form of love and a sense of belonging. He is desperate to stay in the place that he has fallen in love with, and the people he has come to respect but Scottie cannot be an openly gay man in this unforgiving land.
My heart is broken as l read of the desperate choices that both men have to make for each other, for family and for the land. They battle bush fires, drought, bigotry and constant fear of discovery. Will Scottie decide that he cannot love a man and be accepted in this harsh environment? As for Pete, for the first time in his life he feels like he is living , but will he lose it all ? Will love have the power to change some views, or maybe not.....
This duet was written so, so beautifully that l had to read them both back to back without a break. I was totally swept away by the beauty of the unforgiving land and the stoic family, the hardships they endure daily for the love of their land and animals.
You have to be tough to be an Aussie! Tough, dedicated, resourceful. But an enduring, soul deep love of the land is it's own reward for those stalwart people. My Grandfather would have called them "tough wood". An apt moniker. The isolation, because of the vast distances between stations, must by design, breed resilience and ingenuity and self reliance. Farming and ranching depend on dedication, hard work, the ebb and flow of markets and more importantly, the whims of mother nature. Firefighters, law enforcement, first responders, etc are to be lauded. Highly. But we often don't give enough credit and thanks to those dedicated people keeping our tables filled with food. My gratitude and thanks to our to each and every one of these providers. Everywhere in the world. These observations are a large part of this two book series. The two men who meet because of a search for a legendary treasure, find the real treasure in each other. Their friendship and relationship blossoms...behind closeted doors. One has been "out", the other closeted because of living on a vast station hundreds of miles from "civilization" and opportunity. When first meeting, they have an instant connection. You know when you meet your soul mate. Through trials and tribulations, these lovely men find their HEA. I highly recommend these two books. Once read, they, the people and land they inhabit will be long remembered.
What an awesome read. I loved both the books in this duet, can't pick a favourite. A beautiful romance but oh, so much more. Ann Grech portrays life in the outback vividly, painting a picture of just how hard every day can be. The story is well written, full of emotion, drama and sexy nights. Surrounded with great characters and a landscape that just might really hold a mystery.
Outback Treasure - Book 2, takes of where Book 1 finished. Scottie and Pete's relationship is rekindled and given an opportunity to become more. Although Scottie continues to hold back, worried what others will think, until love wins in the end.
I love a good age-gap romance, and Pete and Scottie are just so good together. I love that Scottie is the older of the two yet seems like the more inexperienced when it comes to relationships and dealing with people. This book completes the duet, and these two do a lot of growing and figuring out what's important. They have great chemistry, and you can't help but root for them. In addition to an engaging romance, Ann Grech also paints a wonderful picture of the Outback, including the wildlife, and she does it in a way that makes it so easy to picture. The whole thing comes together perfectly, and while this duet may be my first experience with this author, it won't be my last.
This is the conclusion to Scottie's and Pete's story.
Scottie and Pete are at a crossroads both in their relationship and in their lives.
When truths are revealed their lives are thrown into chaos. They need to work together to protect everything they hold near and dear, the land, their families and most of all each other.
The guys need to get over their fears, their doubts and their pasts so they can finally get their happily ever after.
You get to take in the ranch, the Aussie lingo and fall deeply for the characters that come to life. You witness their struggles, disappointment, small joys in a sometimes difficult life. But all those obstacles only serve to remind us that there can be great peace, joy, love and happiness in the the struggle. And that makes you appreciate life with all its challenges and surprises!
Both books read in one day, that is how damn good this duet is!! The conclusion to Scottie and Pete's story takes us back to the Outback, where their lives, loves and friendships will all be tested as the harsh realities of living in such a rural setting throws many challenges their way. Another gripping book that will have you falling in love with Queensland and these two men all over again!
This was such a fantastic, amazing, grab-you-by-the-feels, sweeping, raw, gritty, gripping, emotionally charged, smoldering, passionate, lovely, bittersweet, poignant, and totally awesome end to this marvelous series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Yeah! This was a very emotional, descriptive, and couldn't put down book! I love to read a story that is written so well, I feel like I'm in the location/place described in the story. The good, the bad, and the ugly of living in the OUTBACK of Australia. Hopefully, one day, I can go. ENJOY!
I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline to Outback Treasure, has a little of everything here. Totally fell in love with the Pearce 'family' just as Pete did. Bloody good read, and written with feeling.
I was a bit worried after the cliffy from the first book. Thankfully Scottie and Pete work things out their adventures continue. Still loving the outback setting and Scottie's family is great. Extremely hot and highly recommend this duet.
4,5* Pretty sweet but I still think it should have been a single book. I loved the adventures and was happy the big deception/misunderstanding was resolved fast and no extra angst on that part.
This is book 2/2 and continues where the previous book finished.
Scottie and Pete have an age difference and live totally different lives but they can't help but be drawn together, and I liked them together!
Really enjoyed the story. The setting is quite different and adds to the intensity of Pete and Scottie's relationship. This duet is one to add to your TBR.
