This book is like others Michael D'Aulerio. It's not necessarily poorly written or bad, but it is very repetitive. The 5% of the text the presented new or useful information was well done and informative. It would have made a great blog post or article, however, in an attempt to stretch it out, D'Aulerio adds a great deal of repetition, most of which includes patting himself on the back. He also spends far more time extolling the benefits of fat adapted running than he does offering practical "how to" advice. This title is available for low cost on the kindle and is free for Kindle Unlimited members ... which is how I would recommend you get it. I certainly wouldn't spend any money on it as the truly useful information can also be found via a web search.
This book provides an interesting perspective on how to run as fat adapted. The author shares good insights and give easy instructions with reminders to listen to your body. The book is short and to the point. The author shares his own story and experiences with this journey. I am not sure how it would replicate with others and I think more information on the process could be helpful. Overall, it was worth reading and I will probably implement some of strategies.
It’s easy to skim through large portions of this book as it is so incredibly repetitive. There were some interesting ideas initially. He emphasized clean eating and a diet very similar to whole 30. He lost me when he started including things like essential oil‘s in his coffee, a vegetarian diet, and fasting days. None of these are for me. I admittedly did not finish the book for this reason.
This book could have been a simple blogpost if he didn’t say, “I ran 100k fasted” every other sentence. 🫠 I learned NOTHING other than I’m already doing what I need to be doing as someone who cannot tolerate a carb heavy diet without passing out but wants to run long distance. Also I can’t imagine being vegan and expending that much energy will be sustainable and healthy in the long run. 🙃
Really enjoyed reading. Gives some excellent advice to move away from processes goods but as in his other books, Michael keeps things very easy and it never feels too complicated.
