Rate this book

There is something about Phoenix Wolf that won't stop tempting her...
Something magnetic...
Something so tempting she can't pull away...

Phoenix Wolf hates being human. If it were up to him, he'd stay in his wolf form, in the wilderness for the rest of his life. But it's not up to him. It's up to the forest fire that nearly killed him, forcing him and his siblings to venture into Portland, Oregon for medical attention. While he's healing, his body forced into its human form, Phoenix does everything he can shut out the world. But he can't shut out the hot little redhead, who has been assigned to be his mentor, while he acclimates to life as a human...

Ida knows better than to ever get involved with a client. Especially one with daggers for eyes and whose jawline could slice a girl in half. But there is something about Phoenix Wolf, that won't stop tempting her. Something magnetic. Something so tempting she can't pull away!

When a sinister presence threatens to separate them, they have to decide, will they bad together or fall apart?

This is my favorite of the series so far. Thankfully, in the last trilogy, we get a resolution of having shifters coming out and being legalized. This book sees a shifter family start to interact in the human world more. I absolutely adored Phoenix. He is so curious and thoughtful and willing to learn.

Because he’s lived his life mostly in his wolf form he has a lot of questions and observations that are hilarious. Consent is great in this one. We do hear about his past having one night stands, but there is no other relationship in this book for either one of them. It was so good and there’s a good mystery set up for the rest of the trilogy.

I like the way the author starts to set up the other two romances of the trilogy in the first book, and I look forward to seeing how the siblings have their love stories.

The author deals with some social issues in such a lovely way. And looks at things in a different eye because of the shifter viewpoint.

(This book is a part of the Forbidden Shifters series and there is a cameo appearance by Jackson and his mate.) It was a fine start to the tales of a family of wolf shifters who have come in from the wilderness and taken their human forms. Phoenix was badly burned in a flash fire and his siblings brought him in to civilization to get him medical care. As he is now doing physical therapy and still cannot shift into his wolf, Phoenix and his siblings must try to assimilate into human society for at least as long as he is recovering.

Ida works for an organization that helps shifters with their transition into the human world. She is very proud of what she does for a living and feels she is making a contribution to society. When she is assigned to Phoenix’s case she is apprehensive since she has never worked with a “wild” shifter before. He and his family are starting from scratch as they have had very little contact with humans. Since none of them have skills that will transfer into a human job, they are stuck living in pitiful housing and existing off a subsidy.

There is a greater conspiracy going on in the background that we only get small bits of information about; I am sure this will play a bigger part in the next books. The possible love interests of Phoenix’s siblings are in place and it will be interesting to see how they play out.

I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

With the wrap up of the Durrant brothers, I thought this series had ended. Skip ahead a couple years, and we are back in this world. This was an amazing way to go. Phoenix and Ida were great. At first, I didn't think there was hope. But, Phoenix was determined. Growing up mostly 'wolf', he was a bit naïve when it came to the ways of humans. It was so much fun watching him figure it all out. He was sweet and kind with absolutely no filter. I loved it! Ida was patient with him but also guarded her heart. He was a client after all. She also had fears that he would return to a 'wolf' as soon as he was able. There were parts of the story that were so innocently funny, that I had to stop reading I was laughing so hard. But there were also tender moments and a touch of heartache. But of course, there is always a 'bad guy'. This has twists and turns and really keeps you guessing. While the to main characters did find a HEA, there are so many more unanswered questions. The series is just getting started and we are in for a wild ride. I'm hoping not to have to wait too long for the next book. This is my voluntary opinion of an advanced copy I received.

👍Really good plot with some excellent twists and a new family of🐺 shifters to introduce into this series. I especially liked the dramatic and danger-filled start to the story.

💟Phoenix and Ida, his human mentor, were a great pair. Their scenes were alternately hot or humorous, often touching as Ida helps Phoenix adjust to living in human society after almost a whole lifetime ranging in the wild. I am looking forward to learning how Phoenix's sister Dawn and his brawny brother fair in the romance department, and what the villains try next in their schemes to covertly exploit shifters.

🔥The romance takes a decidedly extended, steamy turn in the latter chapters, alternating with a build-up of suspense as the villains make their move. Personally, I preferred the more light-hearted scenes earlier in the book where Phoenix learns the facts of life human-style from Ida.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

A wild, wonderful Wolf tale!
A new group of shifters comes our way in the Forbidden Shifters world. The Wolf siblings are quite different, and much sought after by the dastardly Director. Phoenix, Orion and Dawn were assigned mentors to help them become more acclimated to living as a human. My favorite mentor is Ida, who is assigned to Phoenix. She loves her work and has a way of making people feel comfortable in her presence. I love seeing their relationship transform from that of ‘mentor-trainee’ to a romantic one. Phoenix is a very determined Wolf! I find myself chuckling with glee at the way Phoenix pursues his goals! Totally charming, in the most innocent way. A word-picture drawn by the author: “(Phoenix) had a body like a sheet of geometry homework. All angles and shapes.” Do read and enjoy - I loved every moment of this!

This is a enjoyable wolf shifter romance & the fourth book in the series “Forbidden Shifters”, there are character crossovers from previous books but this book is complete and standalone. The plot is well-thought out & written with some unexpected events. The characters are well-developed and have a variety of traits and different sides to their individual personalities.
There is: wolf shifters, humans, a human female (Ida), a injured wolf shifter (Phoenix), family, friends, secret agents, a government cult, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, memories, physical therapy, devious plans, action, danger, threats, violence, attractions, hope, longings, abduction, confrontations, anger, apologies, emotional turmoil, verbal banter, happiness, love, some steam & a wonderful satisfying ending. I would recommend this shifter romance.

What happens after shifters are given freedom to finally be out in the open and not worry about ending up in shifter prisons? This book examines what happens afterwards, and it was soo much fun to read. Ida helps shifters assimilate to the human world they have not been a part of in a long time. Her newest case is not going to be easy, but she's determined to help Phoenix. Phoenix has not come out of the wildness voluntarily, he was injured in a wild fire and his siblings took it upon themselves to take a chance in the human world to rescue Phoenix from certain death. Still healing he has a lot to come to terms with including the fact that he has found his mate. I cant wait to see what Selena Scott has in store for Phoenix's siblings.

I liked Phoenix's naive honesty. It was endearing. Klurz, inept, and awkward do not begin to describe Ida, but it's a good start. She was probably the most imperfect perfect choice to mentor Phoenix into the human world, because she was unassuming and less intimidating and oddly normal. There are several secrets (agents) revealed and some are hinted at. I hate it, but I need more. I enjoyed Jax and Kia's cameo appearance in the story. I await more evil to follow and another family member to fall in love.

I absolutely loved Phoenix. He was a bit oblivious to the workings of the human world but he caught on quickly. I found him honorable and adorable. All he wanted to do at the beginning of the book was to be able to shift into his wolf and be able to return to being a wolf full time. Once he met Ida and she began mentoring him his priorities changed. His study of the human world and getting to know Ida changed him. I enjoyed the changes and growth his siblings experienced too. Now if the evil government would just leave them all alone all would be right with the world.

The law has changed and shifters can come out of hiding. Ida's job is to help them integrate. Phoenix and his siblings have been wolf since their parents died, but then he was caught in a fire and went human.
He's in pain and stuck.
The relationship between the two is amusing as he doesn't understand human behaviour. Ida is very compassionate and caring.
But there's still the 'baddies' out there.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
A great read from Selena

this is the fourth book in this series and still going strong! This one was about a wolf shifter called Phoenix. Him and his brothers were in a fire and forced to live as a human until they heal. Ida is a mentor that helps shifters to exist in the human world. Sparks fly when these two get together. Really thought out story line has a bit of everything in it very good at keeping my attention I hated to put it down at the end I want to know what will happen to them all next!

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Well, this is one heck of a story I never would have guessed was possible. Phoenix is just that clueless, that it's literally hilarious and Ida tries her best to integrate him and his siblings in modern life out of the mountains. And WE get to re-meet the oldest Durant-brother. Yeay

Wow

I absolutely love Phoenix. He was like a child so honest, inquisitive and adorable. I actually thought there would be more to the part of the story of the director. I figured they were going to take Phoenix next but it ended and shocked me.

A Mate for Phoenix is a marvelous addition to the Forbidden Shifters series. It's wonderfully written, very well-plotted, and engaging shifter paranormal romance. It dives into the aftermath of the shifter's freedom, where the threat of capture and imprisonment doesn't constantly loom over their heads. Of course, the government continues to have its own agenda. Phoenix, a wolf shifter from the wilderness, was terribly injured in the fire; his siblings took a drastic step to save his life. Now, living in a facility in the civilized world, amongst humans, getting much-needed medical care while stuck in his human skin. Phoenix is suffering both emotionally and physically; aside from needing physical therapy, he cannot shift into his wolf form.

Phoenix and his siblings must now acclimatize to the human world and assimilate into society. Ida, a beautiful redhead with a compassionate heart, has been assigned a new case, helping Phoenix integrate, guide, and provide him with skills to make it in the human world. Sparks fly between Phoenix and Ida; the attraction is positively undeniable, and the chemistry is charged. Loved their interactions, and at times, I couldn't wipe the smile of-off my face. Phoenix essentially lived as a wolf with only a basic understanding of human communication; I was totally charmed by the innocence of the concept. I can't wait to listen to Orion's story; I just know it's going to be great.

The character development is phenomenal; the cast is relatable, diverse, with distinct personalities, complicated emotions, and realistic responses. A Mate for Phoenix was a gratifying listen with a riveting storyline, packed with emotional turmoil, angst, intrigue, dangerous enemies, suspense, steam, surprising twists, and turns. Craig A. Hart's narration made the story even more enjoyable. His portrayal of the characters was flawless, capturing their emotions and connection. He literally brought Selena Scott's words to life; I could feel the intensity and excitement of the scenes. A Mate for Phoenix was a fantastic listen, one I highly recommend.

Phoenix has spent his entire life in his wolf form with his siblings, hiding from society to avoid ending up in a shifter camp. When he is badly injured in a forest fire, his siblings are forced to bring him to a hospital to save his live. He and his siblings are enrolled at the local shifter acclamation center where he is assigned his human mentor, the curvy glasses wearing red head, Ida. Ida begins as a thorn in his side, but his feelings from her quickly change from irritation to desire. Can this injured, uncultured, brute of a shifter convince his human mentor that they are meant to be together?

This book was incredible. When I finished Jackson and Kaya's story I thought there was no way that the stories could get any better, but Selena Scott has proven me wrong. Both Phoenix and Ida were lovable and funny and goofy and their story was addictive. I read it in one day. This was my absolute favorite book in the series so far and should go on anyone and everyone's TBR!

This books takes place a few years after the events of the first three books in this series. In fact, Jackson and Kaya make a cameo appearance. As with the first 3 books, the author starts laying the groundwork for the next book in the series, Phoenix’s brother, Orion.

While you do not have to have read the first 3 books in the series, it does add more for context and world building. I highly recommend this series.

A Mate For Phoenix is book four in the series Forbidden Shifters by author Selena Scott. Ok so I know that I said that the previous book in this series was my favorite it I really believe this one is my favorite instead. It has all the complexity of RL and all the giddiness of a fairytale.
Can you imagine someone picking you over everything in their life- family - who they are inside- their way of life - you, just you.
Enjoy!!

Shifting stagnated

After being caught in a wildfire, Phoenix is taken to a hospital by his siblings. He had been in his wolf form because they were living as wolves most of the time. Wanting to go back all three try to assimilate to human norms until he heals. Then life happens. Couldn't put down.

This story was slow to begin with, but became increasingly enticing to the point where I could not put it down. I feel like the ending was incomplete, I wanted- for lack of a better word- more. I wanted to know more than what I was told; it came to a point where I just couldn't put this book down. Over all, this novel deserves a high rating because it was deliciously good.

Wild and free.

These was the best. Book yet. See how the freedom of the shifter world is evolving. The government has a new program to assimilate the free shifters and it is working for the most part. Should we all just love each other?
