Saving Joelle: A Mother's Story of Babies, Brain Tumors, Epilepsy, and Raising Someone Special

Rate this book
Traci Diederich Rue suffered alongside her daughter, Joelle, as she was forced to endure a life that was ruled by horrible seizures. Saving Joelle is the story of a mother's struggle to understand what was happening to her beloved daughter. It's about a young couple taking matters into their own hands and searching for answers to save their daughter from the rare brain tumor. A Hypothalamic Hamartoma is a brain tumor that attacks the most innocent among us: our babies. Its cause and cure are unknown. It’s usually discovered when the child starts having seizures which become progressively more frequent and severe. The child deteriorates mentally, emotionally and physically as the seizures take control. The story takes them across the world for a significant brain surgery in Australia.

As if the tumor wasn’t enough, their growing family struggled with multiple setbacks including other grim medical issues. Saving Joelle is a story that will touch every parent's heart. It is a story of hope and triumph in the face of overwhelming odds. It is a story of faith. It is a story of a young family faced with extraordinary circumstances. At times it seems overwhelming and unimaginable to think of what this family is going through and the choices they are forced to make. In the end though, it’s an enduring tale of a family’s love and never ending fight to save their daughter.
