This book is meant to introduce the group of animals called primates to children of approximately the ages of 7 to 12 years old. One focus of the book is teach children that humans are primates and therefore part of and not separate from the rest of the animal kingdom. The book has six main parts. The first part is a description of the order of animals called primates. It discusses the relationship of primates to humans and to other animals. The second section of the book is called, “Additional Information for Parents and Teachers about Some Primates”. The third section is a glossary of the specialized terms used in the book. The fourth part of the book is on the endangered status of primates. The fifth section of the book is a list of websites that provide activities for children about primates and other animals. And the last part of the book is a list of websites that supply a wealth of information on primates and related topics.
