OMFG. I FLOOOOOVED Penn so much! This guy! The cockiness, the swagger, the tattoos, the eight inches....

HIS. HEART. I didn't know I'd feel so much for this guy, but he swept me off my damn feet immediately!

I loved the banter, not only between him and Avery, but the guys too! I adore a good bromance, and nobody does it like Adriana! I always feel like I want to be a part of the gang!

The sexual tension between Penn and Avery gave me the biggest case of blue balls I've had in awhile. But let me tell you, when he finally did give her his eight inches, it was SO WORTH the wait!

If you're looking for a twice-in-a-lifetime love story with a bad boy book boyfriend that will make you want to jump through your kindle and mount him, this book is for you! Meet your next book boyfriend PENN! He is everything!

This is the book in Adriana Locke's Dogwood Lane series that I've been waiting for. I was intrigued by Penn Etling from the moment I met him. He's the fun-loving best friend who's never going to settle down. That is, until he meets his match in Avery.
Avery has captivated my attention. I don’t know what that fucking means, but I’m here for it.

Avery is new to Dogwood Lane, but it's not the first time she's been here. It's been 10 years, but she visited her aunt in this small town when she was younger. Avery's parents are rich, famous, and a lot to handle. She's more than happy to get away from them and embrace small town life. Penn Etling has lived in Dogwood Lane his whole life, but he's never met a girl like Avery before. Or has he...

Penn is the most lovable character. He's a guy you can't help but like even though he's a bit of a player. I love that he found the one that dug deeper and brought out another side of him. Avery and Penn couldn't be more different in so many ways. From their background, to their personalities, but they also have a lot in common and they have that spark and connection that draws them closer and closer. I loved them together.

The audio book of Trouble is narrated by Rock Engle and Laurie West. Both are fairly new to me narrators and both did an incredible job voicing Penn and Avery. I've listened to this entire series in audio format and it's been a lot of fun to listen to. I definitely recommend the audio books.

Trouble is another fun, romantic, sexy, and sweet small town romance from Adriana Locke. I love her sweet small town stories and I hope she puts more out from the Dogwood Lane group. There are a few more characters I would love to see get their own stories.

Here comes trouble ⭐️

I’ve been waiting to read Penn’s story since July, last year!!! I was elated last night when I got an arc of my most anticipated novel of the year. I didn’t even care it was already 1am and i knew i wasn’t going to sleep.

First of all, where’s Grace? 🤔 After Tangle I was sure Penn and Grace were destined to be together. Don’t get me wrong, Avery is awesome (yes, I know people don’t use this word anymore 😋). After knowing the whole story, I truly understand why it was Avery, not Grace. So don’t panic like I did. 😄

So, Penn Etling and Avery Perry. We’ve known Penn ever since Tumble was published. He was in both previous books in the series and there’s absolutely no way anyone could not fall for this guy!

"That’s okay. I’m used to women falling for me."

For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, imagine Penn as the fun “boy-next-door”, full of mischief, very good looking and with a predisposition to use innuendo as an actual language.”. He made me laugh almost with everything that came out of his mouth.

Avery is an artist and a hairdresser. She’s been living in LA all her life, with her famous mother and having fake, shallow friends, a douche of a boyfriend and a family interested in being in the spotlight more than actually being a family. So she had enough and moved with her aunt in a small Tennessee town, where I would definitely move too, btw. Plus, she refused to engage in another relationship that had an expiration date set from the start. She wanted so much more and was not willing to compromise.

Penn and Avery actually met before, ten years ago. They shared a night none of them could forget. Now, she recognized him immediately, but he didn’t. He felt the connection, felt like he knew her, but it was the pure unadulterated lust that drew him to her.

It was hilarious seeing the playboy used to his harem being turned down so many times by Avery. Don’t imagine the worst about him, please. Maybe I should rephrase this or you could simply read his story and decide for yourself.

”You’re talking about monogamy, aren’t you?”
“Penn...”
“I’m allergic.”

Actually, he’s not! He has a baggage we all carry, big walls protecting his heart and soul and really believes he’s not good enough to have a family and nobody would love him long term.

They start off as friends, but having that sizzling chemistry and attraction floating around them, you can be sure their relationship will progress at some point. Maybe a slower pace than i would have liked, but I actually admired Avery for her strength to resist him. I know I couldn’t.

Their witty banter, his innuendoes, the self discovery on both parts and the actual falling in love are what make this story simply amazing and not to be missed.

“You know, most guys that talk that much about their tape measure are trying to distract you from the fact that they can’t use it. It’s just another tool they play with”.

I don’t have enough words to describe how wonderful this novel is! Actually, there hasn’t been any from this author that I didn’t love. Adriana Locke, please never stop writing! You make my heart sing with every story you put out there and I would happily have many more sleepless nights just enjoying your works. ❤️

Trouble is the third book in the Dogwood Lane series. It can be read as a standalone, but trust me, you’re missing out big time if you’re not picking Tangle and Tumble too.

I absolutely love the Dogwood Lane series and was seriously intrigued about fun-loving Penn Etling who just stole the show in Tumble & Tangle! However, I had no idea that I would end up putting him on the Locke Men pedestal right next to Fenton Abbott and Lincoln Landry!

Trouble is the story of Penn and Avery, two people who have such chemistry, they just can’t seem to stay away from each other. However, Avery knows good and well about Penn’s past and doesn’t want to get into trouble, again.

Penn and Avery were both a breath of fresh air. A woman who knows what she wants and needs in life and a man who is NOTHING like what he seems. The witty banter, the fun-loving give and take, the sexiness and the overall connection that Penn and Avery have brought this small-town romance right to the top of my favorites list. What a way to start of 2020!

I am utterly smitten with Dogwood Lane.

A sucker for these sort of quirky, small town stories - my heart is delighted every time I get to go back and visit this charming little town and its colorful cast of delightful characters.

And then?

Enter Penn Etling.

And now my heart doesn't even know what to do with itself. It's in a full-on swoon. And that's despite the fact that I wanted to knock him upside the head a couple times (an urge that was satisfied by some equally wonderful secondary characters in this story). Y'all this is the cutest, sweetest, most banterific thing ever. I smiled so hard. I laughed out loud. And I fell in love with Penn and Avery as they fell in love with each other.

I adored Avery too. She's the perfect match for Penn and I admired her commitment to herself and the way she was never willing to sacrifice her own dreams or self worth for Penn. And yet, she was patient and understanding and strong enough to walk him through uncharted territories. I loved the subtle emphasis on how equally they shouldered the load. This was just a completely lovely love story.

On top of that? The secondary character game is still so very strong. The banter between Avery and Penn was fantastic, but the banter between Pen and his friends was even better. Ms. Locke writes these characters with such an authentic voice, I wanted to pull up a chair and join them at the table - laughing, making fun, and reveling in their friendships.

Trouble is another Dogwood Lane hit for me. It's that perfect mixture of humor, heart, and heat that keeps me coming back for more, and leaves me happy and satisfied in the end. If you haven't been introduced to this fantastic series yet, this seems like the perfect time to start! ~ Shelly, 5 Stars

Trouble is the third book in the Dogwood Lane series and tells the story of Penny, and I have to say that this book was a pleasant surprise and I really enjoyed it. I think it's easily my favorite in the series so far!

Penn is a cheerful, fun boy who can't be disliked. A stud from the small town they live in who is afraid of commitment. In his brief appearance in previous books I confess that I didn't put much faith in him, but here, knowing him better, he won my heart. He is a boy with a heart of gold and it was impossible not to smile and fall in love with his journey by falling in love and navigating this world unknown to him. Avery is a great protagonist too, and the perfect match for Penn.I loved how she made him fight for her attention, and I loved seeing her little by little deal with her relationship with Penn and the new life she was forming. Together they formed a couple that melted my heart and made me smile throughout the book with their sweet, clever and shrewd dialogues.

In addition to the novel, I loved reviewing the small-town vibe that the author created here. I loved seeing the friendship of Penn and Matt and Avery being so well received by the city.

Trouble is a lightweight book with no surprises along the way, but it's a beautifully written story with charismatic characters and a captivating story. I don't know if we will have more stories from this universe, but it is my wish that Matt will also win his happy ending in the near future.

Penn and Avery were great in this friends to lovers, contemporary romance from Adriana Locke, her third installment of the Dogwood Lane series. This book can be read as a standalone within the series as it features two new main characters. Told from dual perspectives, Trouble finally gives us Penn's story. And he definitely meets his match since Avery gives as good as she gets while simultaneously and completely upending Penn's precariously built world. Their dialogue and banter both are witty, hilarious, and fun to read as Adriana Locke navigates the both of them with precision among the chaos, low angst, and lovely storytelling.

As with the previous works in the Dogwood Lane series, the setting, storytelling, and characters are full of charm and effortless romance. It's quite easy to fall into these books and be transported away in the slow burn love stories by Locke. I'm entertained while reading them and in Trouble especially I laughed a lot at Penn's quick wit and goofy antics. I'm so glad for the woman that came into town to shake things up. There was something special about this couple and how their story played out. And as with the previous two, the friendships and secondary characters of Dogwood Lane play a huge role in the charm of the story.

Penn was incredibly gorgeous, a terrific person, and a consummate flirt. He lived for today, took nothing seriously, and he was absolutely allergic to relationships. It's not like he didn't know how to love because he adored his friends/family. He just couldn't picture and seriously avoided an actual partnership with a woman. That sort of arrangement came with expectations and he had no doubt he'd fail. With his background and inability to see his own greatness, he was his own worst enemy. Avery may have been the one woman to shake him up a bit, but not even she was invincible to his self-destruction. While breaking my poor heart (and his), Penn made me laugh, melt and fall in love with him hard!

Once again, Adriana Locke nailed some sweet small town romance. There was so much fun to be found in these pages and trouble was just the tip of the iceberg when it came to Penn Etling. He, his friends, and even Avery gave me tons of feels and I found that I couldn't get enough. I'll definitely be reading more about the Dogwood Lane gang!

This book is why I love Adriana Locke...You fall in love with the town, the people and her characters. I knew Penn’s book would be special because Penn doesn’t see himself the way others do and I knew I’d be rooting for him from page 1 and I was right. I absolutely adore the banter between Penn and Avery. I love the realness of the friendship between Penn and Matt. I can’t wait to catch up with Avery and Penn in the next book of this series.....there will be another book....won’t there??....please!! 5 shooting stars for Trouble!

An enjoyable and funny and fast read. Easy going characters and nice small town setting. No major drama, no angst, just a few insecurities and self doubt that got handled pretty quick.
Penn is the town playboy, no commitments only night stands, but otherwise he is a pretty cool and polite guy. Avery is running away from her spotlight life in LA and her fucked-up family.
They play a bit of mouse and cat game, but in the end both found what they needed in eachother.

"It’s clear what Penn wants: a booty call. An adventure. A new woman to entertain him for a bit, and that’s perfectly okay. Hell, that kind of thing is even fun. But at this point in my life, I want something less superficial.I want more. I’ve gone my whole life without it, and I want it."

Now, my problem with this author books is the way she begins them. I haven't read the rest of the series but the author said it can be read as a standalone. All good so far, but what I've noticed with other of her books , and this one too, is that no introduction is made, no prologue, straight into the dialogue, which left me confused and frustrated. I had to read some review to know who Dane is and whats going on. Not cool. It doesn't even have to be 20 pages prologue, but a few pages there that can put me into the story and can introduce me to everything.
Anyways. I still enjoyed it once I got things straight.

Trouble by Adriana Locke is a fun small town, second chance romance and is the third standalone in the Dogwood Lane series. I have enjoyed reading this sweet and steamy series since I first picked up Tumble, book one in the series. Staying up to date with all of the previous characters while delving deeper into each of the newer characters is my favorite aspect of series' like these.

Penn Etling has been one of my favorite Dogwood Lane characters from day one, so finally getting my hands on Trouble was like Christmas in July for me. Penn is everything I expected him to be and more. He is the perfect combination of fun and cocky with the a massive, loving heart. Alexis was his perfect match. The banter between her, Penn, and Matt had me constantly laughing. Adriana Locke creates characters that are so real and easy to connect to that I felt like I was drinking a beer and giving Penn a hard time right along with everyone else.

Amazing book! Penn is swoon worthy, Avery is hilarious, as is Penn, their chemistry is on fire, and it makes you feel the whole spectrum of emotions. I don’t think there is much else you’d want out of a book! Definitely a must read! Ps. Penn I think took the lead as my new favourite 😱

Adriana Locke has done it again! I fell in love with her writing a long time ago when I first discovered how amazing she is by reading "Swing". She has the ability to pull you into her stories from the very beginning. Her characters are so realistic, raw, imperfect, make mistakes and most have done things in their past that they aren't proud of. Meaning, her characters seem like actual people that you not only would know in real life but people that you would also want to be friends (or A LOT more) with. I never can seem to get enough of her writing. Like it was said in the movie Field of Dreams (If you build it, they will come) I feel the same about Adriana's writing: If she writes it, I will read it! She is an instant, no blurb necessary one-click author for me.

I have been looking forward to reading Penn's story ever since we met him in Tumble-Book 1. In the first 2 books he was hinted at being the ultimate playboy with the untouchable heart. We learn his truth in Book 3 and I absolutely loved learning his true story. I am a huge sucker for a small town, bad boy meeting the girl that eventually causes him to show just how big his heart really is. I knew from the very beginning that it would take a no nonsense, independent woman to cause him to see what he was really missing out on in life by not opening his heart. Avery was just that! She literally fell into his life, was able to see Penn for who he truly was and show him who he was meant to be all along.

One of the things that I love about Adriana's stories is having characters that are behind the scenes (like the hero/heroine's siblings, friends, co-workers etc) and getting just enough of their stories to intrigue you but not so much that it takes your attention off of the main characters of the stories. One character in this book that piqued my interest in this book was Matt. I do believe that he would be a definite heartthrob! He gave me one of my favorite quotes from this book:
"Being in a relationship with someone doesn't mean you promise to get it all right, Penn. It means you decided she's worth you trying to get it right more times than not."
I mean....Swoon! Penn definitely needed him as his best friend!

Penn and Avery's story was perfect for me. It wasn't rushed or have a lot of useless drama thrown in just to draw out the story. I really enjoyed following their story and seeing them literally both grow as individuals throughout this story. I will certainly be adding this story to my list of books to read again and again! A definite highly recommended book for me!

Romance, heart, and small town charm are the hallmarks of Locke's writing. The author paints a vivid picture that makes me want to live in Dogwood Lane. Penn's southern charm had my heart swooning and his sense of humor is spot on to delight not only the reader but Avery. Avery Flynn is a breath of fresh air and Penn Etling has taken notice. She's a great balance to this sweettalker and adding in that this is a second chance romance (unknown to Penn - trust me on this original plot twist) and Locke has scored another winner as well as solidified her place in this genre as a one-click-worthy author.

Trouble by Adriana Locke contains every element I love in Romance. I laughed, shed a tear, and grinned while ready Penn and Avery's story. Penn is sexy, funny, and arrogant with a heart of gold, and Avery is strong, resilient, and hesitant about giving in to Penn's appeal. But chemistry is hard to deny and these two have it in spades.
Dogwood Lane is the perfect setting for this Small Town Romance. With colorful residents and a charming backdrop, it's the ideal place for these two stubborn, relationship-weary characters to fall in love.
Locke has another winner on her hands!

TROUBLE (Dogwood Lane Book #3) by Adriana Locke is another great contemporary romance in the Dogwood Lane series. This romance has another of the lifelong friends meeting their match with all of the fun, sex and emotional angst I have come to expect in Ms. Locke’s romances. This book can be read as a standalone romance, but being set in a small-town all of the main characters crossover.

Penn Etling had a rough start growing up, but he is now the laid-back, fun loving friend who is always willing to help. He is a player, but everyone knows and understands what they will get from him. No harm and no foul.

Avery Perry has moved to Dogwood Lane to live and work with her aunt. She can no longer take the type of life she was expected to live in L.A. as the daughter of a movie star. She is excited to make real friends who want to know her without expectations. As she is attempting to hang a speaker, she falls right into Penn’s arms. Avery knows guys like Penn and she is not willing to go there. She wants a real relationship, not a one-night stand.

When these two come together the sparks fly, but is Penn willing to give more of himself than ever before and stop his playboy ways? And will Avery tell Penn the secret she is keeping and give him a chance to prove he can change?

I absolutely love Penn. His hard body, bad boy persona, but his soft heart are why all the girls want him and he is the perfect opposite for Avery. And yet, they were not opposite in their emotional scars from their upbringings. Avery is the type of heroine I like because even though she falls, she is still willing to pull away and stick up for what she truly wants in her life. All the secondary characters are fully fleshed out and many carry over from the previous two books.

In this series, Ms. Locke has written realistic and fun dialogue, sex scenes that sizzle and burn up the pages and characters in this small-town setting that make you want to be friends with them all.

I recommend this contemporary romance and all the books in the series!

New author to me; Adriana Locke gives the perfect blend of chemistry, banter and sexy-times in book three; Trouble from her Dogwood Lane series.

I loved Penn and Avery, and because of that was rooting for them from the get-go to get together. The writing style was easy to get along with and the drama/angst was kept very much on a low boil, add in an entertaining cast of secondary characters and I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this book!

Amazon have done me a solid as well because the first two books in the series, at the time of writing this review are currently 99p, so that’s my weekend sorted too!

Throughout the series so far, I've been waiting for Penn to finally meet his match, and Avery is definitely the one. I mean, I wanted to punch him even while I understood why he acted like a jerk. But I loved how his good memories and his friends played a big part in the story, and helping him realize he deserved love! Avery is absolutely awesome, and I'm glad they got this second chance! Now, I can't wait for Matt's story (and any other planned in this incredible little town)!

Since I first met Penn, I was in love with his ridiculous swagger, and never thought in my wildest dreams he would settle down, let alone make me swoon the way he did. So many parts of this book had me giggling, even one part I read and re-read a dozen times because it was so funny!! The progression of this couple was both maddening, and intoxicating, I wanted it so bad for them, but boy...they made me work for it. The characters are so crisp and clear, the story so engaging, I felt as if I was skipping along in Dogwood Lane with the whole crew, and I sincerely love this Author's books because of that. This town, these people, these stories will hold a special place in my heart always.

I always think I’ve found my favorite Addy character and then in her next book I’m proven wrong. Penn, oh wow. He’s got himself a heart of gold. And I think my favorite thing about Penn is that he doesn’t even know how special and amazing he is. And Avery, she’s a sweetheart and just what Penn needs in his life. And not to mention this town. I love the towns that Adriana writes. That probably sounds kind of ridiculous but I can’t help it. When I’m done reading her books I want to go jump between the pages and not only meet the characters but visit the town. This trip to Dogwood Lane was another success for me. I loved this book and I really truly adore and love Penn!

Penn is quite the...he's...well he's one of a kind that's for sure, “I’d eff a unicorn.” Penn looks around the table. “What? I would.” Penn's wooing is quite unique, “I hope your dreams are as sweet as your ***.” I liked this book, I adored Penn.

As a teenager our heroine tried out the 'goth look' briefly. While visiting her grandmother in Dogwood Lane she takes a long walk and comes across a teenage boy by the pond. One thing leads to another and she deposits her v'card with him. She also gives him a false name so he won't automatically associate her with her famous and absent parents. The next day her parents remember her and collect her.
Now, years later, she is back. She has changed in looks and he has grown into a hot, charming 'lover of the ladies.' She is mortified that he might remember her stumbling ways and then equally mortified that he doesn't.
Cute romance with some truly funny parts. Love me some romantic comedy! Nothing better to brighten the day and take my mind away from some of the 'real world.'

Trouble. That's Penn Etling to a tee. His ego is big enough to fill a football stadium and he's about as deep as a toddler’s wading pool. At first glance, that is. His easy charm and swoony smile let him get away with most everything and makes all the girls in town vie for his attention. But as we get to know him, the multitude of layers peel back and his unrepentant, devil-may-care attitude hides the part of him who's still that little boy his parents couldn’t love due to their own inadequacies and brokenness.

Avery has lived all of her life trying to stay out of the spotlight of her famous parents. She’s hoping her move to Dogwood Lane, TN, will help her build real friendships with people who see her for who she really is, rather than someone to take advantage of for their own selfish purposes. And Penn clearly has one thing in mind when it comes to Avery, but she apparently hasn’t gotten the same memo all the other single women of Dogwood Lane have, because time and time again, she shoots Penn down.

Settle in and prepare yourself for a romping good time with these two, because they're just so darn fun! The tension, push and pull, and banter between Penn and Avery will have you gobbling up their story, and the heart tugs will have you deep in a well of emotions. I’ll admit, I was underwhelmed by Penn to begin with, but it wasn’t long before he owned me, heart and soul.

Dogwood Lane is one of those small towns I’d love to live in, with the quaint, inviting setting and colorful secondary characters. If this writer is new to you, this is a perfect place to start since the books in this series stand alone. There’s a reason she has so many loyal readers, because once you read one book, you'll be eager for more from this talented lady. Grab your copy today and get ready to fall in love with the best kind of trouble!

ARC kindly received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have been looking forward to Penn's story from the start. He's the loveable flirt of the group, so I was curious to see what we would get from him.

Penn and Avery are both quite independent characters, but with completely opposite views about what they want from life. They have an instant connection, and plenty of chemistry and sparks fly with all the banter that goes on between them.

Penn being the commitment phobe that he is, doesn't want to see what's staring him in the face, even though everyone around him can. Avery knows what she deserves and life is trying to make a positive change. She fits right in in Dogwood Lane, and it's great to have a strong character like her.

It was fun watching things unfold between these two, even if I did want to slap Penn silly sometimes. Loved having our other fun characters from the town in the story too.

Can't wait to see what comes next in this series.

2.5-3 Avery & Penn Stars

This was a sweet, funny read. Avery escapes her awful parents in L.A. and moves to Dogwood to stay with her maternal aunt with whom she has always been close. The last time Avery was there she spent the night with Penn , he was also 18 and they each stumbled across a special connection at a time they both needed it. But real life separated them and now 10 years later, Avery is stunned to see the man that Penn has become. Unfortunately Penn doesn’t seem to remember her although she seems familiar.
This book is funny - there are some proper laugh out loud moments but ultimately I found my attention wandering a bit at times. Also, even at the end , I wasn’t convinced these two would last the distance. She seemed a lot more emotionally mature & he still seemed really uncertain.
The secondary characters really made this book for me. And the humour. Sadly, I just didn’t feel it between the H/h.

4.5 Dice CROWNS

DOGWOOD Lane is one of my favorite small towns. With a wide range of characters, charming and irresistible heroes, I always enjoy visiting.

Penn and Avery are so much fun. The friendship they have is fantastic, the joking and bantering allows as to see the Seth to depth their characters. The chemistry between them is subtlety potent ( yes, that is a contradiction) because it isn’t in your face and yet you still feel it.

The premise of the plot is so great & original, and while I love the conclusion of the plot it wasn’t shocking or seemingly hard fought, which is not my personal preference. I want the conflict to have a bigger impact.

Another great read form Adriana Locke. This story is light, fun, and it was so well written, I couldn’t get enough of Penn and Avery.

Trouble is book 3 in the Dogwood Lane Seris by Adriana Locke. Its the one I have been waiting for since I first read Tumble! Trouble was amazing!! Penn's story was everything I had hoped it would be and more, he's my new favourite but that's just between you and me (Don't tell Lincoln)! Penn is the charmer everyone knows it, full of one liners, cheeky innuendos and trouble (in a good way) with a capital T. But he has met his match with Avery who is the only person he has never managed to charm first time around or did he?! As always loved catching up with the rest of the Dogwood Lane residents and can't wait for the next one in the series.

Thank you Adriana and Netgalley for the ARC and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

I think Penn might be my new Locke hero.
The southern twang to the tone is the kind of thing that dreams are made of. A smile that touches my lips as I revel in the idea of living in a place where voices can almost be forplay. Just one of the many quotes I highlighted. I enjoyed Penn and Avery's story so much.
