Rate this book
New York Times and USA Today bestselling authors Heidi McLaughlin and L.P. Dover come together for a sexy new series that delivers romance for every season!

Allison Wood is single and not looking to mingle. Unfortunately, her sister, Erin, doesn’t take no for an answer. As the producer of a new reality TV show, that turns a traditional Easter egg hunt into a dating show, Erin believes her sister would be a perfect contestant and secures her a spot.

Instead of cozying up at home and biting the ears off a chocolate bunny, Allison finds herself in Aruba hiding an egg while America watches. She could have been paired up with a slew of other guys. But who does fate match her with? Sexy fireman Hudson Bryant, who happens to be the same guy that made Allison’s high school years miserable.

Go on a dating show, they said. It’ll be fun, they said.

When viewers learn of their history, the pair instantly become a fan favorite. Everyone is eager to see how their story will unfold. For the good of the show, Allison agrees to play nice with the former jock... for now.

Can Hudson make amends for the past and crack through Allison’s hard candy shell to her cream-filled center? Or will her time with him leave a bitter, black jelly bean taste in Allison’s mouth?

This is the fourth novella of the series, and my second favorite so far!

In this book, Allie, our protagonist, gets an opportunity to be part of a reality show shot in Aruba, because her sister is the producer and needs her to fill the spot for the first season of this new dating show. The couples are matched by Easter eggs: the women hide their own personalized egg, and the men go on a hunt and are partnered to the women based on the eggs they picked.

I loved this idea for a romance, it reminded me of "Love Is Blind", the Netflix show. Allie and Hudson formed a very adorable couple, and I really enjoyed their banter and fun adventures on the island.

Highly recommend for people seeking a cute and quick read!

Easter never looked like this or was this fun! When Allison Wood’s sister asks her to participate in a new Easter Egg Hunt turned dating show, she says yes. After all it’s a free two week vacation to Aruba? Who would say no? Too bad her “partner” for the show is non other than her high school nemesis, firefighter Hudson Bryant. Can they get along for all of America watching and play the game? Will Hudson finally win her over? A cute and sweet easter/adventure themed novella. Told in dual POV

There's an air of whimsy to this heartwarming series and I can't help but be drawn into the sweetness that it brings. Dover and McLaughlin bring out the best in each other. McLaughlin gives the heart a chance to speak, while Dover tempts the heart with a wicked sense of humor. A Date for the Hunt is a tasty peace of heaven that will light up the dark places of the heart.

What a sweet little novella. A cute premise, a romantic setting, and an adorable cast of characters. It starts off a little rough in the beginning but ends on a sweet note. And I'm out.

Alison is a pharmacist who has been convinced by her sister to become part of the reality show she is producing where ten women are matched up with ten men. Although she isn’t looking forward to being matched a vacation in Aruba should be fun.

Hudson is a fireman who has also been chosen as a contestant however the egg he finds belongs to the woman who he crushed on when he was in high school however she believes he bullied her in high school and wants nothing to do with him. Will they be able to work through the misunderstandings of the past so that they can have a second chance?

I really like Alison and Hudson together as not only does he regret their past, but he has a great sense of humor when Alison wants payback. As they spend time together Alison realizes he is nothing like the man she thought he was.

When Allie's sister Erin convinces her to sign up for a reality show she's producing, she's not exactly thrilled. She may be single but she's not looking to go out and find herself a man. Yet, that is exactly what Erin's show aims to do - find her and 9 other women a man with whom their Easter eggs are paired. Just her luck that she's paired with the man who tormented her in high school. What she didn't realize was that Hunter had always crushed on her back then and that his actions and behavior was never purposely meant to hurt her. But Allie wants revenge and Hunter wants to make up for his past and get the girl who's now a gorgeous woman. Which one will win out?

Ahhh I love this series! It just keeps getting better with each story, and Allie and Hunter are definitely the best couple yet. Their witty, snarky banter just masking serious chemistry, the mini adventures they go on, and the sweet way they fall in love. This is a feelgood, sweet, and sexy little story. Can't wait for the next "date".

4.25 stars-A DATE FOR THE HUNT is the latest novella in the contemporary, adult, romance DATING SERIES co-authored by Heidi McLaughlin and LP Dover. This is fire fighter Hudson Bryant, and pharmacist Allison Wood’s story line. A DATE FOR THE HUNT is a complete stand alone. You do not have to have read any of the previous instalments in the series.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Allison and Hudson ) A DATE FOR THE HUNT focuses on an Easter themed reality show wherein the competitors are flown to Aruba where they will hunt for an egg, and their potential future. Allison Wood’s sister is one of the show’s producers and single Allison is the perfect foil for her sister’s plans but Allison never expected to come face to face with her high school bully, a man who no longer remembers what happened or why. Enter fire fighter Hudson Bryant. What ensues is the quick building romance and relationship between Hudson and Allison, and the potential fall out when their time together comes to an end.

A DATE FOR THE HUNT is a story of forgiveness and revelations; acceptance and understanding; romance and love. The fast paced, character driven premise is real and romantic-this is my favorite story line so far; the characters are flirty and fun; the romance is fated and passionate. A DATE FOR THE HUNT is the perfect read for a lazy sunny afternoon.

I absolutely love this novella series! The perfect pick me up and an easy way to pass a bit of time without becoming too bogged down in anything heavy or serious. And it always helps that there's already some type of history between the characters to propel the romance forward. This time we get Allison and Hudson, who've known each other since freshman year of high school, although they weren't exactly friends back then, although one of them did have a serious crush on the other. I did wonder how one could forget their crush's name after a few years, but it doesn't take long before memories are brought forth about what happened in high school.

For the most part this is a simple and straight-forward romance; luckily no OM/OW drama to throw a wrench in a potentially blossoming relationship. All of the hurt from high school is dealt with early in the book (only 11 chapters so no point devoting chapters to the past). I did get a kick out of Allison's little form of payback during their first outing with the sunscreen, and Hudson proved to be mature and realized how his high school actions affected Allison and accepted the revenge gracefully and with humor. The rest of the book is the developing romance between these two, especially Allison's changing feelings for Hudson. The follow-up was sweet, although I wish it had happened a bit further down the road for them instead of 3 months later. But I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series!

Allison is convinced by her sister, a TV producer, to participate in her new project: a reality show filmed in Aruba whee she will have to hide an Easter Egg for a man to find it and spend 2 weeks with him in paradise.
Luck makes the chosen one be Hudson, the boy who made Allie’s life in high school a real hell. The funny thing this was never Hudson’s intention, he has always been in love with her, but every time he was approaching her, he was nervous and bad luck made it impossible for him to declare his true feelings. Now is the chance to redeem himself and finally be able to conquer Allie’s heart.
I ❤️❤️❤️it, super fun read.

“Dude, you’re a moron.” “Wow, Dave. Nice to talk to you too.” “Do you know who you are matched up with?”“Yeah, Allie something is her name. She’s a raging bitch though.”“Again, moron. It’s Allie Wood.” “Yeah, her.” “No, Hudson. It’s Allie Woodie—the chick you tormented the shit out of in high school because you had a massive crush on her.”“Huh?” Dave groans. “Allison Wood. You tripped her—by accident—the first day of freshman year and she fell and broke her nose. You tried to make it up to her, but someone pushed you from behind and she slammed her head into her locker. Another time, you were running down the hall, not paying attention and rammed right into her and threw her about fifty feet. After that, you made it a point to seek her out, but she didn’t want anything to do with you. To her, you’re a bully. Now’s your time to fix it.” Dave hangs up. The room spins with memories from high school. I never meant to hurt her, I just couldn’t control myself when I was around her. Each year, I tried to be better but with two left feet, I was afraid to make a fool out of myself. I stand and go to the flowers, picking them up. I need to show her I’m not the same jackass I was in high school.

Just a perfect feel-good read!! What a cute idea for a story! I loved it!! It is my absolute favorite so far in this new Dating Series by the incredible writing duo of LP Dover and Heidi McLaughlin. I can't get enough of their amazing collaborative talents. This is such a sweet, sexy and charming story and it's honestly just so much fun! Allie and Hudson are incredibly lovable characters and together they are a joy to read about.
Allie has never gotten over the way Hudson treated her in high school. Hudson has never gotten over his regret over that and the fact that he crushed on her so bad back then. Now 10 years later, they have the opportunity to change all of that, well at least moving forward anyway, when they are matched out of pure luck on this new reality dating show. As you can imagine, things were certainly not all roses and lollipops at first, but they were still fun. I loved every single moment of this adorable story and could not get enough of Allie and Hudson's adventures in Aruba together. They're absolutely perfect for each other!

Who are Allison and Mr. Bishop? Where are they? What does Allison do for a living? Who is Cecilia? When Allison leaves work to see Erin at her job, what I learned made me chuckle. Why do I have a feeling Allison is about to get sucked into what Erin is planning? Who are Jensen and Hudson? What do they do for a living? Oh my gosh! There were some not so great fireworks in this story, but then things just blew up in a good way. Enjoy the read! I loved it, I couldn't stop laughing and smiling!

You betcha I DNF'ed this.
Why? 👇👇

Strike #1 -
Annoying friends and family with no boundaries who think they know best, don't understand "NO" and force heroine into doing something stupid that she doesn't want to do.

Strike #2 - pushover heroine who allows herself to be manipulated and caves under SLIGHT pressure, to wind up doing the stupid thing she doesn't want to do. Because she's too weak to stand up to her convictions and make others back tf off.

Strike #3 - lunkhead hero who 'man spreads' in place of sitting and describes himself as 'ripped' and 'toned.' He believes he deserves to be ogled and basically is so far up his own arse he can't see daylight.

Three strikes and I'm out.

Not sure if I liked the Easter bachelor reality show, but still a cute read. Allison and Hudson knew each other from school, he was her bully, but actually liked her . Now Hudson is also a firefighter and they are on a show in Aruba. They get paired together and now they have to face their pasts.

I am loving The Dating Series. When I need to get out of a reading funk, one of these books will do it. If need a quick fun read, I only have to look at The Dating Series. The characters are always likable. The romance is sweet and not over the top. At the end of each book I am left with a goofy smile.

There is nothing better than reading a quick fun romance before going to bed. A Date for the Hunt has left me with a really big goofy smile gave me a night of wonderful romantic dreams. Who needs a red rose when there are eggs to hunt. Each of ten girls has to hide an egg that represents them. The ten guys go on the hunt for an egg clueless to whom it belongs. What can go wrong?? A lot can, especially when the guy finding your egg happens to be a miserable blast from the past. Talk about rotten egg.

I love the tension between Allison and Hudson. The laughs flowed as he tried to figure out why she was being so cold. She wants revenge. He wants what he screwed up in high school. Let the adventures begin. They are in Aruba so you know there are going to be a lot of opportunities for Allison to get back and the dorky teen turned hunky firefighter. Hopefully what happens in Aruba doesn't stay in Aruba. Allison and Hudson will be the perfect couple if they last the past go.

When Allison’s sister Erin calls and needs her help, Allison reluctantly agrees. I say reluctantly because the help she needs isn’t babysitting, helping her paint a room, or any of the mundane things we ask our friends and family to help with. Oh no, Erin asks Allison to be a contestant on a reality dating show she’s created and producing. Allison will be whisked away to the tropical island of Aruba as one of 5 women who will be paired up with 5 men that are also coming. The couples are paired up when one of the men finds the egg that the women hide.
What a great premise, right?! I was totally invested in this, right from the get go.
As viewers watch the men find the hidden eggs, they see that the hunky fireman, Hudson Bryant sticks his hand into the cactus garden to grab the beautifully decorated egg. When they’re paired up, Hudson doesn’t understand Allison’s attitude towards him, he’s just met her, right?
WRONG! It turns out that Hudson and Allison go way back. All the way back to high school where Hudson made Allison’s first day in a new school horrible. He’d broken her nose on accident. Then she was given a horrible nickname that she carried for years. Hudson and Allison quickly become the fan favorites, and everyone is interested to see what happens next for the pair. Especially when their history together is revealed.
I can’t recommend this story enough! Even though this is the 4th book in the Dating Series, it can be read as a standalone. The writing is amazing, there’s great world building, the characters seem real. The whole story leaps off the pages and it feels like you’re on the island of Aruba with Hudson, Allison, and the rest of the characters, having a wonderful vacation. There’s laugh out loud moments, and sweet romance brewing in this must read story.
*I received an ARC of this story, and this is my honest and voluntary review. I loved this story so much that I not only went and purchased a copy of this story, but the first three in the series as well.

Allie and Hudson's story is my favorite of the series so far! Allie never wanted to be on a reality TV show but she agrees at the insistence of her sister and family. Hudson applied on a dare by his best friend but when he gets selected, he has no problem jumping in feet first. Neither one expected to be confronted by a blast from their past on the island, and they certainly have two very different reactions.

Allie has never forgiven Hudson for the way he treated her in high school and she is not about to cut him any slack whatsoever. After he finally clues in to who he has been matched up with, Hudson is determined to prove to Allie that he is not the same guy she once knew. She never realized Hudson actually had a crush on her, but he managed to mess up everything from the first time they met and just dug himself a deeper hole with every passing day.

Over the years, Allie has lost her adventurous side and this show is a great way to rediscover it with Hudson's help. He starts to win her over under the constant glare of the cameras and a live audience, but can they survive in the real world?

A Date for the Hunt was a great quick read filled with laughter, heat and heart that I really enjoyed!

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, naughty fun, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below they are part of this series in case you want to read those books(s) first
A Date for Midnight (The Dating Series, #1)
A Date with an Admirer (The Dating Series, #2)
A Date for Good Luck (The Dating Series, #3)

This is Allison and Hudson’s story. Allison is happy to be single and not looking to change her status. But her sister is looking to help her out even if she doesn’t want help. She secures her a spot on a reality show. Now Allison is hiding an egg while America watches. When she is matched with someone it’s someone from her past that make her life miserable. She knows the past is going to come out, so she also knows she needs to play nice. Hudson wants Allison and knows he must prove himself. Can he? Or will he lose her in front of all America?

I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

I loved A Date for the Hunt. It's a cute sweet cute read. It's a quick read, like you can read it on your lunch break quick. Allison sister, Erin is a producer for a dating new Easter themed reality show. Allison offers to be a contestant to help her sister out. So for the show there are ten single men and ten single ladies in Aruba for two weeks. They are matched up by which guy finds the girl's hidden egg. I love the premise for the show and would totally watch it if it was a real show. Allison is a great character. She's pharmacist but also like nature and outdoorsy stuff. I liked her. She gets matched up with Hudson. He's a firefighter. He likes challenges. No one knew that Hudson and Allison knew each other before the show. Allison isn't happy with Hudson and she does some funny things to get back at him. Hudson doesn't back done from a challenge and breaks down her walls. I liked these two together and I loved their story.

This series keeps getting better & better if possible. Allison Woods is single & wants to stay that way at the moment, but she has this sister Erin, who won't let her. Erin is the new producer on a reality show which takes the traditional Easter Egg Hunt with a dating show twist. It ends up with Allison being matched with her Hudson Bryant (yummy firefighter), who was her tormentor in high school. That makes for some interesting interactions (sparks flying everywhere despite any past feelings), as she's not down with fate matching her to him, but for the sake of the show/fans, she will make nice with him. Hudson, however, wants to make up for those past years, but it's quite the task to get past the walls she has up. Will the sexy firefighter get the girl?! You'll have to hit those one click buttons to find out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

A Date for the Hunt is the third in the Dating Series by LP Dover and Heidi McLaughlin that I have read and continued in the tradition; it is a sweet romp into romance land. Each in the series centers around a holiday, and this book focused loosely on Easter.

Allie and Hudson know each other from high school. What Allie perceived as bullying Hudson knew were his clumsy attempts to get to know her. He was popular, so the assumption was he was picking on her. Allie has a bit of grudge, and Hudson wants to change that. Dover and McLaughlin have once again proven you can write a hugely sweet love story and put it in a small package. Each time I read one in the Dating Series, I wonder if it's going to keep holding true--and yes it does.

You can read this series quickly (novellas) and catch up on the holidays. I'm curious about what the next holiday holds. I look forward to it.

I can totally see why Ms. Dover said/wrote this one is her favorite from this series! It’s a cute concept for a story - an Easter bachelor like reality show. Sounds fun, right???
Allison and Hudson knew each other in high school. He wanted her back then but had a funny way of showing it. Because of this, she hated him. Like wants revenge on him hated him. But guess what? Now he’s her partner in this Easter bachelor like reality show. Talk about a small twist. Will she get her revenge? How will she get her revenge?

These characters were very lovable and I felt like this one ended very nicely and didn’t leave me wanting something more like the last three in this series. (I loved them all as well!)

Great story!
This one is book four aka April. It can be read all on its own with no issues.

This book is about Allison who's sister is a producer who sets her up on a dating show. When she ends up matched to a man from her past can they solve their problems and be together?

I really like Allison and Hudson they were such a great couple and i'm glad Allison gave him a chance despite their past. The dating show format was really fun to see all the things they did together. This book was very different than the previous books in the Dating series this was by far my favorite of the books. The characters were awesome, the plot was different and interesting and of course there's a happy ever after.

I would recommend this book if you liked the previous books in the series, hot sex, great characters and a fun plot.

I really enjoyed "A Date for the Hunt" by Heidi McLaughlin. Being forced onto a reality dating show by my sister would be my worst nightmare, so I empathized with Allison when she found herself stuck in Aruba, competing for a love she wasn't even looking for. Things went from bad to worse when she got paired with Hudson—the guy who had tormented her in high school. Watching them navigate the show while dealing with their past kept me engaged. Hudson certainly had some making amends to do, and I enjoyed seeing him earn it. The mix of reality TV chaos, second-chance tension, and unexpected romance made this book hard to put down. A Date for the Hunt is a fantastic addition to your collection. Happy reading…enjoy!

I have to admit this book is my favorite in the series so far because I love enemies to lovers tropes. The clever dating game that brings them together is a fun and exciting plot line on the beautiful island of Aruba.

Fate has brought Allison and Hudson together after 10 years where a misunderstanding then becomes a quest for forgiveness and new beginnings. The chemistry between them is hot and their adventures in paradise are so fun I wish I were there in the sun and the sand.

Yet another fun summer read with an Easter egg hunt on the beach.

Thank you to Ms. McLaughlin and Ms. Dover for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

This is the 4th book in this amazing series and is Allison and Hudson’s story. Allison is single and a pharmacist who lead a pretty bring life, and her sister who is a produced for a reality show signs her up as a contestant. This show leads to a 2-week vacation in Aruba. This is an Easter Egg Hunt and as luck would have is sexy fireman Hudson finds her egg, and he used to be her high school nemesis, and they are now paired together. This is a beautifully written tale which is sweet, fun, humorous and entertaining. I look forward to reading more from this collaboration of authors, and I highly recommend their work for all readers.

Allison & Hudson....
Allison is talked into being a contestant for a dating game by her sister. She is not happy about it but she heads to Aruba where the contest is being held.
Hudson is one of the men looking for a date. He pulls a beautiful egg that leads him to Allison however, she is not happy with him. He has no idea who she is but she remembers him from high school and the memories were not good. I do love that they have history together and that they are brought together again by fate you could say. These two have a few differences to work out but there passion outweighs everything. Another amazing story!

On a dare, Hudson ends up in beautiful Aruba on an Easter egg-themed reality show. Only expecting a good time, he's surprised to meet his high school crush Allie - all grown up, but no less beautiful. Interpreting this good fortune as a second chance, he goes all out to impress.

Miffed that Hudson didn't initially remember her, Allie is determined to make him as miserable as he made her so many years ago. However, as they spend more time together, she recognises that she just might like the man her high school nemesis has become.

I enjoyed this read. Hudson & Allie's story was warm and sweet. I recommend it.
