It has been ten years since Erin Kelly has seen Reese Flint. He is now a Major in the Army, having served nearly twenty years. Erin has been house-sitting in the garage apartment and now Reese is back. Erin in in shock. Here is the man of her heart. Her dreams. Mark cannot believe his eyes. Eleven years his junior, Erin has become a stunningly beautiful young woman. If only she weren't so young...
A year passes, and Mark and Erin were like two ships in the night. Erin is confused as to why Mark won't even try and befriend her. Mark gets hurt at work and Erin begins to assist him. His over-bearing mother would rather be in charge. His brother Ben drops in from time-to-time, but he only seems to agitate both Erin and Mark - but for completely different reasons that both are unaware of.
He has never made his parents happy. With their wealth and vision, they expected much more from him. It has been nearly two decades and they, especially his mother, think it is high time for Mark to retire.
Mark and Erin get along famously, although Mark is quick to remind Erin of their age differences. It becomes a battle of wills, especially when his family becomes a factor. The romance in this book is definitely a slow burn. I love reading romances that offer such intensity without any physicality. In so doing, the author allowed raw emotion and depth to develop between the characters.

So I just wrote another review last week talking about age gaps so I won't go all into it but the gist is... I have a love-hate relationship with them.
Home With You is the fourth book of the Rambler Battalion series but the first book I've read by Claire Cain. (Although I have another one on my Kindle, I haven't had the opportunity to dive into it yet...) I'm definitely interested in reading more! I love a good military romance!
This book can be read as a complete standalone. I didn't find myself lost or like I didn't understand anything because I hadn't read the other books in the series. But it did leave me wanting more. I found myself interested in the side characters and ready for more of their love stories!
I found the heroine extremely relatable (to me, at least).
We're the same age. She's unsure on what she wants to do with her life. She's mature for her age. She feels a little lost with her personal and professional feelings.
I LOVED their little nicknames for each other! So cute!
I need a little Pieces in my life. For. Sure.
Okay, my down sides... *sad face*
Like I said, I have a love-hate relationship with age gap romances and so that brought the rating down with it. It's just always a back and forth. I want you/you're too young/still want you/I'm too old for you. It gets a little tired after a while... and definitely didn't help that I JUST read another age gap recently.
Also, fair warning: this is a slow read... if you want something fast paced and super sexy at the get go, this isn't it. If you want a slower read with a little sweetness, you can find it here.

Resse, a Major in the army is used to living in isolation. After leaving behind a rich and luxurious life and a career in politics, Resse never looked back. For him, his love for his country has come before everything and the only place he truly feels a sense of belonging is the army.
As he meets with an unfortunate accident, he unwillingly comes under the care of Erin. Reese and Erin have known each other since they were kids and Erin has always had this huge crush of Reese.
But as they are placed in a confined space, they start fighting an attraction that was inevitable.

It was fine, but I was waiting for it to be over. I wasn’t all that into this book and usually I love these kinds of books, but this one just didn’t do it for me.

Major Reese Flint is up for a huge promotion and close to hitting 20 years. For the last year while he's been gone on deployments and trainings his house has been watched by his parents' former employees daughter, Erin. When he last saw her she was a teenager. Now a decade lady she's all woman. Erin, aka Sunny, wanted to be friends with Reese, or even more but he's spent more than a year avoiding her. Seeing him hurt is crushing, so of course, she agreed to help the growly bear Reese while he recuperates, when his mother asks. She just didn't expect it to come with strings, or feelings. At long last, she begins to break down his walls. The more she gets to know him, the more she feels for him.
As a first time reader of Claire Cain, I didn't know what to expect going into this book but I'll just read about anything set around our military. However, I just didn't feel the chemistry. While the storyline was compelling, I just didn't feel much connection to the characters. The most intense emotion I felt during the whole book was my incredible dislike and disdain for his manipulative family. But it's a good storyline and as an avid romance reader and reviewer, I can say this book appeals to a certain audience wanting what I'd call a "clean romance".

Reese is back in his hometown and living at the family home when he needs to recover from an injury while serving in the Army. He is struggling both with the injury and being home and isn’t about to make Erin’s job any easier.

Home with you was a good story with interesting characters they did take me some time to connect to though but by the end I was hooked . This would be the first story that I have read by Claire Cain and I am looking forward to having more of her books in my kindle .

I did finish reading the whole book and I have to say this was a struggle. But I am glad I did because the outcome made it worth it. Because they were both able to escape the poison called his family, and be happy with each other. But before that, this poor girl was broken done, and used. She was manipulated by all to get what they wanted. It was all because she was alone, once she lost her father to cancer.
You see Erin’s father had been a groundskeeper on, the Flint estate forever, and, they had lived in a cottage on the grounds. That is until, the day after her father passed away. When she was asked to leave the only home she could remember. Plus, she then needed to get a job. Because she no longer had a dorm room on the college campus, she gave it to care for her father. That’s when she started working on, the Army base almost two years ago. Mrs. Flint came u with the idea of her house sitting for her eldest son, Major Reese “Pieces” Flint.
Now, Erin had always loved, the Flint boys growing up they were like big brothers. Until they weren’t. At sixteen, Erin was head over heels for, James, and he was getting ready to leave for college, and something happened to crumble that fantasy. It was Reese who found her crying in the orchard, and he walked her back to the house. They laughed, talked, and ate pink ladies. Ironically, the same young girl, that he had run into the anger-filled day, of fighting with his father over leaving the military, would be house-sitting for him now.
He is so startled by her appearance, at being a full-grown woman, especially after emailing her for the last year plus. In his mind's eye, she is still that sixteen-year-old girl. So, on the day of his return, and sees her he is gobbstopped. Yet, she is so glad to see him after getting the emails all year that she runs up, and hugs him around his waist. He does not hug her back or even speak. With a reddened face, awareness dawning on her she backs away enough to look into his eyes. After all, he is six-four. She relays how sorry she is, and tells him it won’t happen again. She says she will just clean up the gardening tools, and go up to the apartment above his garage.
It's a year from that point on, that this man goes to great lengths, to avoid her. Which is hard since they share a front door entrance, they work at the same base, and they park in the same driveway. It's not until he gets a direct order to play football. He gets injured playing. Did I mention it's flag football? Yup, there is no halfway with these guys. It requires surgery and help and his mom hires, Erin to help with the cooking, laundry, and anything else needed.
Reese is not a talker, or a man who likes to accept help. So, let’s just say it's tense between them. But, when his mom, and then his much-hated brother, asked her to do something that made her feel extremely uncomfortable she didn't want to do it. It made her feel as if she was betraying, Reese. She felt obligated for how much, the Flint family had done for her, and her father before he passed. Especially when James pulls out a figure. But, it's the way, James asked that makes her feel ill because it, makes her feel less than, and dirty.

Reese is 38 and in the army. Erin was the caretaker's daughter as he was growing up. She is 11 years younger than him. When her father dies, his family asks her to move from Louisville to Fort Campbell to be the caretaker of Reese's house since he is deployed. She agrees. She is working her way through college and working at the base. She has always loved Reese. When he sees her all grown up, he is taken with her, but feels he is too old for her. His family hates that he is in the military and wants him to retire at 20. They force Erin to put pressure on him to retire. She doesn't want to, but Reese's brother blackmails her. Reese is injured in a training exercise so Erin cooks and drives him to work while he recovers. I enjoyed reading about Ft Campbell and the army, etc. A great book!

I have binge read this series and this is my 2nd favorite with 1st being my favorite. Just enough drama and spice. However, I would of liked to see how they resolved the issues with his family, her graduation. Book 2 and 3 felt very similar, but this was a completely different story. I love age gaps with silver fox hair men. I too have been in that situation with her test. Liberty University tends to do it for week 8 online school. I felt so relatable. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

Experience trumps research every time...
Ms. Cain uses her own experience as an Army wife to share the emotions that are such a part of that life. The anticipation of a list. The devastation of your name not being on the list. Questioning whether or not you want to continue in your career. Beyond 20. If a partner is willing to face the rigors of the lifestyle. These and other serious considerations are the day to day decisions for military members, and they impact those they love. The author does an excellent job of portraying the emotional cost. Recommended.

This book had a lot of ingredients that I liked, but for some reason just didn't work for me as well as the earlier books in the series. Part of it was that it took soooo long for these two to get together in any manner, and then when they did they both kind of kept overreacting to stuff. The third act drama in this one just aggravated me. I've really been enjoying Cain's books overall and definitely will keep reading them, but I found this one to be one of her weaker entries that I've read so far.

This is a clean romance. It is also a military story. His political family is opposed to his being in army vs family politics. She is the former gardner’s daughter, who has been house sitting his house while he is deployed. He’s back, but soon injured and she is now providing him home care. She’s always been in love with him … he is clueless. He finally gets a clue but then his family has interfered. But, it all works out. It reads long and slow (it is spread over 3 or more years)

Sweet military story
This is a must read. I’ll admit, this is the first book I’ve read in this series, so I’ll be going back to catch up.
Reese and Erin have an age gap that doesn’t bother them, and why would it. They have love and respect for each other that trumps all! Even his meddling family.

I love a military romance
If you like strong, protective, military MMCs you can’t go wrong with Claire Cain. This one has a lot of miscommunication and for me - that’s not my fave. However, I read the whole story and enjoyed the HEA. Lots and lots of tension, no on page spice definitely a lot of build up. Some mild swearing. No F word.

Such an amazing love story with characters you couldn’t help but cheer on. I am such a fan of the grumpy/sunshine trope and the author was masterful at pulling you in, keeping you in the edge of your seat, and hitting you with all the feels in a wonderful HEA.

I honestly think what I liked best was the friends Erin and Reese had in their corner, having hard conversations full of support. The rest was good too, though the transition from not speaking to full conversation seemed a little quick.

sweet and old fashioned
I truly enjoyed this book. It was very heartwarming. A tad different with the “slight “ age gap and the lack of intimacy #sex ..I wish there was at least one scene written about it.

Another good story by this talented author. I have enjoyed reading her other stories and I look forward to more.
