From the outside, self-described computer programming geek Blake Moss is a straight, happy-go-lucky partner in the rising gay matchmaking company, Match Made. On the inside, the facade he’s built since a traumatic breakup nearly a decade ago is starting to crack.

Hunter Schultz, former football jock, is still licking his wounds only months after walking out on his incompatible boyfriend, Robert. Devotion to his job as head of the city’s LGBTQ+ youth center helps him make it through the rough patches.

The CinderFella charity auction sponsored by Match Made and benefiting the youth center brings Blake and Hunter together in an unexpected way. After a last-minute confession from Blake, his boss, Daniel, buys him a date with Hunter.

Blake is terrified, and Hunter is intrigued by the quirky man who’s fascinated by old dance music and science fiction TV. Against all expectations, the future looks like it might be bright until Robert’s jealousy intervenes, and Blake’s anxiety flares.

Geeked is a 53,000-word gay romance. It’s the second book in the Matchmakers series. The book includes steamy scenes, dancing ducks, disco, and cheesy sci-fi, plus a guaranteed happy ending.

Wow... this one just got added to my favorite books of 2019! Let's just say that Blake the semi-neurotic walking wet dream just made my month! His transformation in this book from start to finish is one incredible journey! I can not express how much I love love love this character! Add hunky Hunter and you've got instant magic! This book was sexy, with plenty of humor and even a few places where I cried a bit. Awesome secondary characters which supported the MCs perfectly! It was also great to see the MCs from book one as well! Overall a very well done, affirming, fun, sexy story of love and a geek blossoming into the man he was meant to be and with the man meant to be hisQ!

Objectively speaking this book is a hot mess. The author over explains some things and leave others completely out. Blake and Hunter meet and fall in love very fast. They call each other boyfriend really soon, without much building up to it. Even I reacted to it and I'm one of those few who doesn't have a problem with insta-love. And the 80% conflict is completely unecessary.

However. I don't care about all that. Even though this book had all these flaws I fell in love with Blake and Hunter. I just wanted them to be happy. Together. And everyone knows that my heart have a bigger vote than my head when it comes to rating and reviewing. This was quick. It was easy and light and exactly what I needed after a stressful day. Read this series when you need something light. Just don't expect too much.

2 and 1/2 stars. This wasn’t a bad book, but I think I started reading it with high expectations and was pretty much just run of the mill for me. Also going ten years without a date seems strange.

Another M/M romance winner from Declan Rhodes!
I loved MISMATCHED so I was excited to read GEEKED. Great M/M romances with just enough steam and angst to make it a worthwhile read.
Blake Moss is the self-proclaimed computer software wrangler and co-founder of Match Made, a gay dating service. He’s been in the closet so long he doesn’t really know what he is until an event makes him aware of his true feelings. Match Made decided they would hold a bachelor auction for charity and publicity. He literally bumps into this luscious guy and he can’t hide his interest.
Hunter is one of the bachelors being auctioned. He’s buff, former jock, sweet, unassuming and gorgeous. He is the LGBTQ + Youth Center Director, cares for his grandparents and does volunteer work on the side. From the time of their meet-cute until the end, we are mesmerized by these two sweet guys. Both have had bad previous dating experiences so they are somewhat tentative with sharing their feelings, especially Blake. I hope the next in this series is about Daniel. There have been hints as to his match ;-)
I was offered an ARC to read and review but I always buy Mr. Rhodes books so I just waited until it’s release. If you like sweet with medium steam M/M romance you will want this book.

I love that Declan’s books always have such a strong theme of family - either born or found. Both Hunter and Blake had allowed a lack of communication lead to an estrangement with their parents. While Blake's parents could be said to have simply left him to bring things up, in his own time, their silence over the debacle of George left him feeling isolated by them. On Hunter's side, while he had stopped talking to them, it also sounded like they had stopped even trying - and it sounded like Hunter would have accepted any overture, at any time, directly from them.

I'm glad that so much good was able to happen, during the course of this story, both for Blake and Hunter personally, but also for so many other characters in this book through the center that Hunter manages.

Finally, I'm very curious about who Daniel is going to end up with, and if it's going to be a new relationship, or a second chance.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

A Geek and Jock kinda story!

Blake who thinks of himself as plain and geeky. A computer software Wrangler for a matchmaking company called Match Made. Hunter is the head of an LGBTQ+ youth center in the community.

A story about two adorable men who had been burned before. Blake hasn’t been in a relationship since his last breakup ten years ago. He has been busy, he said. Hunter’s recent ex is just too negative that it shadows all the good things about him.

This story is sweet and explores possibilities of romance in our society currently. It tells us the wariness of each person when face with a possibility of a new relationship and how they navigate all the negativity they experienced in previous ones in order to find their compatible partners.

This tale is light with a lot of sweet quirkiness, if you can imagine a geek/nerd meeting a jock-type all-around sexy good guy, then this is the story.

📕1 star. Read on 21st Aug 2025. What an absolutely infuriating book. i have a lot to say about this and none of them, pretty. So here it goes.

i only like Blake and the side characters like Iris, Daniel and Charlie. Absolutely hated hunter the lying cheating bastard. In my opinion that was cheating or at at least a bad OM drama that should’ve been properly addressed. It never did. i skipped epilogue as i have no use of knowing about this stupid 6 month extension.

Story- 1⭐, Characters- 2 (only for the people mentioned above)⭐, Sex- 2⭐, Epilogue- 0⭐

Iris is the only person with common sense. She stood up to hunter and held him responsible.

♦This book is a giant OM drama. If you don't like books where those wrong people stay unwelcomed, you're not gonna like it. i know i didn't. There is so much talk and appearance of crappy exes. Hunter's ex is always present.

♦Ever since his 1st pov came up and we see him with his ex, i got the ick from hunter. He’s sleezy just like that ex of his. No matter what that guy says that his ex made the kiss move, a big guy like him apparently stood there as a doormat and took the kiss? And it’s there ON PAGE. It’s the excuse he tries to give after as below.

My mind began to race. I tried to come up with something to say. Maybe I could explain that I was hugging Robert in consolation.

—WTF???? When his first thought was not to tell the truth but come up with an excuse, that’s when i knew he was also into it. Don’t care what he says, he kissed back. That’s the main thing.

♦Oh and all of a sudden once he's confronted, the ex wants to help get them back together?? Then WHY do the deed in the first place?? Oh my god im gonna go insane. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

♦When they finally meet? No asking for apologies. Nor any explanations. Blake just says this. There's no grovelling, no asking for forgiveness and a heinous act totally swept under the rug. There should be no forgiveness for cheaters/enablers.

“How do you know that?”
“It’s true, isn’t it? I love you.”

So if hunter ever cheats in the future, im glad Blake will never ask for explanations. He'll forgive instantly. Good to know. i love people who excuse messy people. 🙄

♦i did NOT like hunter blaming Blake for not being confident on their relationship. If you keep dangling your ex right in front of your "boyfriend" he'd feel strained and unwanted. It's only natural. This was just putting hunter's own faults onto Blake.

The dialogues are stilted.. It doesn't flow well. Feels like one is talking about something and the other ignores it and says a completely different thing.

Much tell not a lot of show. Off page stuff. We weren’t privy to their 3rd date over the weekend. It mattered to be present there given what just happened, but alas. Hunter's conversation with his sister took up an entire chapter but when he and Blake talk, it quickly goes on to say 'i said some more things and then ended the call' wth?? The main couple barely says things on page.

♦The part i didn't get was that Daniel was supposed to be Blake’s best friend so if he is indeed someone he can confide in why not tell him that he is into guys? i mean why keep it a secret from him?

The woman pulled a light jacket tight around her neck and brushed up close to me.
Why did the random woman approach the kissing couple in the first place? It was too random.

There’s 2 sex scenes, they’re both vers. i picked the book because i read those scenes beforehand and boy did i suffer for it. The first one has unresponsive receiver and the 2nd one comes right after the cheating kiss took place when all was forgiven. i was so mad, i didn’t care of it was the best ever sex written in a book, i just didn’t care.

"Geeked" is the second volume of "Matchmakers" series written by Declan Rhodes that I like very much. The first thing that I loved in this part was the combination of an innocent geek and a sweet perfect guy, which really turned out to be very interesting and charming. I think it is worth noting that in the case of this novel, our geek, Blake, is not a personification of the stereotype, in other words, he's not an excessively "geeky" person, but quite an ordinary guy, in whom many readers can find a part of themselves. Hunter's case is similar, as he has countless virtues that make him perfect, but in his perfection he is still a normal guy, not someone who can exist only in the novels and fairy tales. So when these two come together, they form a wonderful duo, and we quickly fall in love with them. To be honest, we can easily imagine Blake and Hunter as real people.

I admit that starting from the beginning of the novel I was impressed by the fact that, despite Blake's clear interest in Hunter, the man himself states that before he opens up to the guy he likes, first he must get to know him better. To tell the truth, I have an impression that in most novels, the characters rarely come to similar conclusions themselves. In a huge number of cases, a situation forces them to get to know the other person, and it's not the same as making a conscious decision when there is a clear chemistry between two people. That is why I really liked this motif in "Geeked". To be honest, the author conquered my heart with it, as reading this novel I was melting. The fact that Blake is not going to dive head-first into a relationship with someone he just met, but tries to be relatively careful because years ago he was deeply hurt really appealed to me.

A very interesting and at the same time practical topic is a lack of confidence in the relationship and questioning oneself. I'm sure that many people reading "Geeked" will laugh nervously and admit that this is the problem they are struggling with. In fact, I belong to this group, so reading the novel I became even more interested in this topic and the way it was presented. Undoubtedly, it is worth noting that in the case of Blake, who deals with this problem, we can see its several sources, which is really a huge advantage of this book. However, in my opinion the most important thing is that the author didn't present Blake's lack of confidence in love as some kind of "addition" to the character, but he showed it as something that affects Blake's daily life, makes it harder, complicates his relationships with the object of his romantic interest. Thus, this problem was presented in a realistic way and is worth attention.

In summary, "Geeked" is a really fantastic and interesting novel that quickly conquers the reader's heart with both a very interesting story and wonderful, lovable characters. This is undoubtedly a book worth reading.

Blake Moss, a partner at the gay matchmaking company Match Made, appears outwardly cheerful but is internally struggling with the lingering effects of a past traumatic breakup. Hunter Schultz, a former football jock and head of the city's LGBTQ+ youth center, is recovering from his own recent breakup. They meet through a charity auction, where Blake's boss buys him a date with Hunter. Despite Blake's initial fear, and Hunter's intrigue, their date goes surprisingly well, hinting at a promising future until Hunter's jealous ex, Robert, intervenes, triggering Blake's anxiety.

I loved this story with the two men who were not obviously compatible but were perfect for each other. They had their challenges but were able to get past them to get the HEA that they both deserved. Blake was so sweet and needed to get confidence in their relationship. The love and feelings between them both was easy to feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

This is my second 5/5 in a row! This book is good. The angst and romance are very believable. Blake works at gay match making company. He lives his life as a celibate straight man because of a painful break up ten years ago. But his boss sees through the facade and hooks him up with a very handsome man named Hunter. The two men hit it off very well. Blake is a shy nerd and Hunter is the handsome football jock. Both men have past trauma to work through. But Hunter’s ex keeps making that difficult. Hunters’s ex has decided that he wants Hunter back as a boyfriend. The two men have some issues to work before they can move forward. I am going to read the series.

This book is all about their thoughts and feelings.
Blake has his doubts after hiding his sexuality since a bad break up in his youth. Hunter is confident but with an annoying ex who is still hanging around.
With a bit of help from their friends we get to their happy ending.

It's a fast paced read, Blake is great, as is the relationship he has with Iris and Daniel. Hunter is great too, and the work he has with the guys at the center, but the relationship between him and Blake didn't seem very convincing to me… maybe I started the book with high expectations.

Geeked is the second book in the Matchmakers series. There are references to the first book in this second one but it isn’t necessary to read book one in order to enjoy book two. Though I encourage you to read book one as it was a fun and heartwarming book.

The MCs in this book are once again a mismatched pair. Hunter is a big, good-looking, athletic man who runs a community center for LGBTQ+ youth. Blake is the programmer for the matchmaking service. He’s a geeky, sci-fi and disco loving guy who has a serious self-confidence problem.

The two end up together after Blake’s boss Daniel bids on Hunter in a bachelor auction as a gift for Blake. It’s kind of a bizarre way to set them up. They begin dating but there are two problems. One is Blake’s low self-esteem and the other is Hunter’s pushy ex who no longer wants to be an ex.

Blake’s continual “woe is me” bit gets really old and Hunter’s willingness to put up with Robert’s inappropriate behavior for the sake of donations to the center is not only ridiculous but pretty tone deaf in the me too era. Hunter ought to be calling Robert’s boss and complaining about him. Along with some editing issues those are my main criticisms of the book.

Otherwise it is a sweet story. Secondary characters Daniel and Iris, Blake’s co-workers, play an important supporting role to the storyline. I can only assume that Daniel will be getting a story of his own at some point in the series. An additional important secondary character is one of the kids at the center, Charlie, who serves as a sounding board for both Hunter and Blake. Both MCs have issues with their parents’ acceptance of their sexuality which is another issue the book deals with.

This book is a quick read. It’s not deep but it’s a sweet, entertaining read if that is what you are in the mood for.

Geeked is another fun book in Declan Rhodes' Matchmakers series. The second book in the series, it can be read as a standalone.

Blake and Hunter meet at a charity auction run by Match Made. Hunter's a hot, athletic looking bachelor who's on auction. Blake's a computer nerd whose friend bids on the impressive looking Hunter on Blake's behalf. A jock and a nerd? Yes please!

What follows is a fun opposites attract romance. Blake and Hunter are cute together and I enjoy Blake's struggle with his confidence. Blake knows he's a geek and can't understand why Hunter would even want to go on one date with him, let alone see him more.

I love these two individually and together. Poor Blake has been stuck in the closet and forced out due to the actions of his friend. It's all entertaining and heartwarming. And, damn, Hunter's backstory, including his motivation for his career, are touching. Of course, there are wonderful secondary characters who add greatly to the story.

Their story includes a pushy ex and a long battle with Hunter's insecurities. There's some sweet humor, and I adore the issues with the matchmaker program. In addition, there's a great aspect of family in this book, as both men have to deal with family issues. I love both of these storylines and enjoyed the development throughout.

Overall, Geeked is a sweet romance and I love this Declan Rhodes series. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Lack of Confidence and Communication

I don't think the guy on the cover is the Match Made geek programmer Blake but rather Milwaukee's LGBTQ Center honcho Hunter. This ex high school football star's future came to an end in a manner as upsetting and traumatic as did the pursuit of men happened to Blake.

Hunter is persuaded to be one of a dozen or so hunks auctioned off for charity at Match Made's benefit for Hunter's center. When Blake's boss Daniel secretly bids on Hunter and when he wins gives his prize as a gift to Blake, we all know what's going to happen.

Problem is, it's not programmed the way we think it might be because it's Hunter who falls for Blake harder than the geek falls for the hunk because of a fundamental flaw in Blake's personality. Oh, and the continuous and totally obnoxious pursuit of Hunter by his ex Robert, who works for a foundation which helps fund the Center, is a major complication.

The other complications are headed by how distant Hunter and Blake have become to their parents, neither set of whom welcomed either of them out of their closet. That Hunter and Blake are great communicators with most people, but not each other, does not help.

This is really a 3 1/2 star tour of all the things you'd expect out of this relationship, and it was a pleasant enough interlude and palate cleanser before I plunged back into something a lot heavier. Which, BTW, is a compliment.

Blake is computer geek and co-founder of Match Made, a gay dating service.
Of course it's irony at it's finest because he's so deep in the closet he needs a map to find his way out.
Which is proven when he attends a charity bachelor auction and suddenly has no idea how to process his emotions.
Hunter is former high school jock who's dreams were shattered in a traumatic event.
He's now the director of an LGBTQ+ youth center and volunteers in his spatre time as well as caring for his grandparents.
When these two literally run into each other, sparks fly immediately and Hunter begins his pursuit of Blake, much to his disbelief and bewilderment.
Both men suffer from a lack of communication which leads to some misunderstandings.
They've also had to deal with absent parents who have never truly accepted them as well as bad relationships in the past.
For Blake that manifests itself in the form of low self-esteem and the inability to hide his insecurities.
Hunter is terrified of being abandoned and therefore hides himself, leery of exposure and rejection.
Add in to the mix Hunter's ex, Robert who works for the foundation that helps fund the center and is dogged in his continuous pursuit to regain Hunter and you've got a real monkey wrench in the works.
These men and their romance is a nod to the old adage not to judge a book by it's cover because things aren't always as straightforward as you think

I found the concept of Geeked to be pretty enticing. A match-maker with trouble finding his match and a charity auction raffling off dates? Who could resist that? Not me. (And I had an issue with the cover, it just made it look like either Blake or Hunter were going to be slimy – THEY WEREN’T!)

Blake does all the coding behind Match Made. He can see all the success stories, figure out what everyone else’s perfect match is, but he can’t seem to get his own success story. His boss bids on a fella that caught Blake’s eye and wins Hunter. The chemistry was instantaneous.

What I liked about Geeked was how well I could relate to Blake. A terrible break up resulted in a lack of self-esteem and fear of being out. It caused a lot of anxiety for him, which made my heart break. Hunter was beyond sweet, but at times I was left staring at my Kindle, scratching my head saying, “Really?” Even though he was finished with his ex, Robert kept showing up.

This was a quick and easy read like most of Rhodes’s books, but it didn’t enjoy it as much as I felt like I should have. I didn’t really connect with Hunter and without that connection there was a bit of an empty feeling after I finished reading the story. I was left wanting more. Give it a try though, you might find you liked it better than I did!

This second installment in the series of characters surrounding the matchmaking company, Match Made proves once again that computers may fail big time, and that real romance is not the result of digits and 1 0 1 formulas but rather face-to-face meetings and gut impressions. Add to it that stereotypes based exclusively on someone's appearance may deceit, and you have some of the base elements of this sweet romance between Blake, the apparently shy computer programming geek and Hunter, the former football star turned into head of the city’s LGBTQ+ youth center. Like all of this author's characters, their relationship may face some initial bumps and uncertainties like in every real life relationship, but it is the way they face it that shows how strong their bond is and that they have a future together. Many real life persons could learn from it!

I like Declan Rhodes' books because his storytelling is calming - no big drama, slow burn, characters with strong principles and great and supportive friends, a positive view on life and realistic HEA.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review of this book.

I read the first book in this series, and enjoyed it. So, I was expecting to enjoy this one too. The premise was great, but certain things niggled me.

I liked Blake, however, I couldn't connect with Hunter. I got the impression, that although he expressed an interest in Blake, he still fancied Robert, his ex, something rotten. I never really felt an attachment to Hunter. On occasion, I actually felt that he acted or said something to undermine Blake's confidence.

As I said, loved book one, couldn't really get into this one though. I think the whole idea was great, however, if I dislike one of the MCS, it doesn't really do it for me. There's a sweet finale, but wasn't convinced that the two would last. Won't stop me reading the next one though, can't wait for Blake's story, or Charlie's.

3 and a half stars, due to the standard of the writing, and the fact that I loved Blake and some of the secondary characters.

Even the best matching algorithms can miss the essential

Geeked is the second in the Matchmakers series. Blake is the programmer who developed the software of Match Made. When they hold a charity 'bid on a date' to auction desirable men, his boss, Daniel, places the winning bid to win Hunter, a former football player, as a present for Blake. Hunter falls for Blake. But Blake has foolish weaknesses and insecurities. In addition, Blake’s former lover, Robert, is an overshadowing threat to their relationship. Blake’s program matches Hunter and Robert, in spite of the fact that they are in fact incompatible, and have broken up.

Unfortunately, Blake puts too much trust in his program. Robert is self centered jerk who will sabotage in order to get his desires. Hunter must overcome the threats to his and Blake’s relationships.

This is the second book where the computations of Match Made have been flawed. But, nonetheless, the two men form a strong relationship.

This is an interesting story with a great premise but unfortunately it is only an okay read for me. I like the characters but Blake and Hunter don't make sense as a couple to me as they don't have much of a connection and their interactions are mostly awkward. My favorite part of the story are the secondary characters and I love how supportive and caring Blake's friends are. Hunter is absolutely amazing and I love how sweet and giving he is with the kids he works with as well as how careful he is with Blake. There are some sweet and fun moments that I really like but overall it never really came together as a cohesive story for me.

I really enjoyed this quick, quirky read about two opposites matched up at a bachelor auction that develops into something real. Although Blake has trouble believing that that sexy and attractive Hunter, the director of a community center for LGBTQ+ youth, could ever really be interested in a geeky, sci-fi loving, computer nerd like himself. But, Hunter is all in if only Blake will give them a real chance. What happens when an ex of Hunter’s starts to act like he doesn’t want to be an ex anymore and tries to push Blake out of the picture? Will Blake’s insecurities push Hunter away? Or will some help from their friends get these two to their HEA? I definitely recommend giving this book a try and can’t wait to see more from this series.

Sharing your heart, learning to trust and realizing appearance can be deceiving.  These MC's were both insecure they just displayed it differently.  I really loved these guys together and enjoyed the supporting characters, especially Daniel and Iris.  Great story-line with good writing and nice pacing create an engaging and fun read.

Blake and Hunter are steamy, sweet, and kinda perfect.  I loved the skinny ties, introduction to being a trekkie, disco music and walks along the river boardwalk

This is book two in the Matchmakers Series and can be read as a stand-alone.  i am so enjoying this series and looking forward to book three.  I am hoping that Daniel gets a book sooner rather than later.

Hunter and Blake may just be the cutest couple to come out of Declan Rhodes' imagination. These two are just so darned adorable, both together and separate. Both of these guys are a little gunshy after some bad relationship experiences, so they're on fairly even footing when it comes to those early romance nerves. These guys kept me smiling the whole way through. Well, almost the whole way. We do have that required bit of angst to test the relationship, but in keeping with the lighthearted tone, it's quickly resolved and even the make-up scene is a combo of sexy and too darn cute. Geeked is a great addition to the series, and Rhodes has set the bar high for his next couple in Matchmakers world.

Blake and Hunter are so adorable together. I’m glad that Hunter (with a little push from Daniel) that finally got Blake back into dating though I think a lot of his heartache over his ex could have been solved by him or his family talking over the incident. The same can be said for Hunter’s pretty non-existent relationship with his parent and they should be reaching out not his sister.

I don’t know I enjoyed the story though I felt like there was a lot of “woe is me” going on. I liked seeing the couple from the last book even if it was for a short period of time. I thought Hunter’s ex was a conceited jerk and that it took way too long for Hunter to tell him off.

I received a copy of this book and am giving an honest review.

You've got to love a nervous geek!
This opposite attract story features Blake (who's secluded himself from any kind of intimacy for... almost 10 years after a humiliating breakup) and Hunter, the ex jock now running an LGBT+ cyouth center.
There were some things in this book that did not fly with me... the extreme that Blake went to avoid relationship with men (I mean... 10 years???), both of the MCs relationships with their parents (strained, but it seems that it's so only based on assumptions).
The book is enjoyable anyway, I didn't click with it or the characters as much as I did with book one, but the story is nice and there are a couple of hilarious moments nonetheless.

I really hope we'll get Damian's story in the future, because the man surely deserves a HEA!

Geeked is the second book in the Matchmakers series by author Declan Rhodes. This book is written in dual pov. I loved this one, geeky romances are right up my alley.
Blake he is nervous, adorably awkward, the software wrangler for Match Me a gay matchmaking business. He is kind and really sweet.
Hunter, he is a protective personality. He takes care of his grandparents. Does a lot of volunteer work. He can talk to almost anyone about anything. I love his heart and soul truly beautiful character.
These two are perfect for each other. They just have to get over their own personal hang-ups. When you want a story to make you believe true love is real, I highly recommend this one.

Blake is adorable. At several points in the story I wished I could have covered him in buble wrap and protect him from any possible harm,be it physical or emotional. Also,he has Hunter in his life now.

Their romance is so sweet. Both Blake and Hunter are the kind of good men that are so nice to get to know and make you cheer for their happiness. I liked how much their knowing each other helped them to get stronger,to take steps in bettering their own lives, and then the lives of others.

Geeked is one of those books you read with a smile on your face and leave you with a warm feeling of joy. Recommended.
