Lin-Manuel Miranda is a composer, lyricist, writer, rapper, and actor. I have quite a bit to say about this program because I usually have quite a bit to say about anything Hamilton, so bear with me as I try to compose it less like a steam roller. First, for a while this program was one of the few visual windows I had into the show because I hadn't had a chance to see it in person (and the movie wasn't out yet), so for that reason it holds a special place for me. Having these few photographs helped my imaginings of the musical as I belted out the songs in my shower or when I should've been studying. Beyond the photographs though are the short contributions at the end by several of the creatives who contributed and though they are short they should not be ignored or underrated. There is something inherently stimulating and inspiring in hearing other people pour out love about a project they've worked on. It doesn't even have to be something you liked or are interested in, but passion and excitement and love are contagious no matter what, and these short sneak peeks into the experiences they all had in creating the show is enough to get me excited about creating something even if I don't know what that might be yet. This will forever be treasured by me first as a memory of my early obsession with Hamilton and desperation for anything that could get me closer to experiencing it fully and second as a source of inspiration and a reminder that creating is fun and amazing and hard work and worth it.
The show was incredible! We were already huge fans, but seeing it live takes it to a whole new stratosphere and gives you an entirely new respect for the brilliance and complexity of the show.
