Sometimes even a Brownstone needs to get away from it all. Did the bad guys not get the memo? Alison Brownstone is on vacation. Do not disturb.
Oh they disturbed.
But when your mom is Shay Carson and she makes two requests of you, you take them seriously. 1. Go on a father-daughter bounty hunt. 2. Go on vacation. How can Alison say no? She can’t.
Two Brownstone’s on a bounty. That dude’s going down hard. One and done. The second task takes our Drow princess away from the home base.
It’s not like Seattle will burn down because Alison isn’t there, right?
Finally convinced, Mason and Alison take a road trip to a resort built around a kemana
Your standard magicals at play until Alison is accused of streaking through the gardens and even accused of murder. Wait till Shay finds out.
It’s not paranoia if someone is really out to get you.
It’s time to clear Alison’s name and find out who’s behind the violence at the resort before someone else ends up dead.

Dark Reunion: An Urban Fantasy Action Adventure - a review by Rosemary Kenny
When is a holiday not a holiday? No, it's not a joke - especially when the 'punchline' is that Alison Brownstone ends up in jail - for a crime she didn't commit! That's part of a bad patch for our half-human, half Drow Princess of the Shadow Forged, Alison, whose adopted father is James Brownstone and Mom is Shay Carson, in Book 13 of Judith Berens' great Alison Brownston series, Dark Reunion, a sure-to-be-best-seller. Skulduggery is most definitely afoot when Alison and fiance Mason go on a get-away-from-it-all holiday - that turns into anything but R&R plus TLC. Enemies from human and supernatural realms plot to take anyone bearing the Brownstone name out, by any means necessary. Will Alison get free in time to save the day? Who are the friends who come to Alison's aid? Who will prevent the magical resort being destroyed by enemies who spring from the ground? Who is the mysterious other Drow Princess? What unexpected offer does she make Alison? When to things take a definite turn for the better? With more twists and turns than a Chubby Checker dance marathon, you'll be riveted by the danger and excitement generated within Dark Reunion, by the wonderful Judith Berens partnership of Michael Anderle and Martha Carr - miss it (and the previous 12 novels) and you'll definitely miss out -what are you waiting for!?!!
Good lively story, it was a long time between the boring parts and they weren't long. Alison Brownstone and her intended took a vacation at a resort in a kimana, while there, they met old friends and new enemies. Galloping golems! What a great excuse to stay up late and eat chocolate covered cashews!
I had fun and you likely will too. Did I mention that I really hate writing book reviews? No? Well, this one is worth it!
Can’t get enough of Allison. Vacations are difficult enough without being framed for some pretty bizarre behavior. Meeting up with Izzie and Jake is a nice surprise. Allison and Mason definitely need a vacation from this vacation.
What a vacation. Meeting up with old friends. Having fun with your dad. A vacation that is actually work. Finding enemies when you least expect it. Finding a happy ending.
It’s hard to take a vacation when you are a Brownstone!
It’s hard to take A vacation when you are a Brownstone! in this book Alison and Mason go on a vacations and mayhem not of their making occurs. Brownstones don’t start trouble but they sure do finish it.
Finally the brother is born! Father / daughter bonding time happened and gross really gross. Who wants bugs especially with acid goo. No one ever! The whole resort stuff was totally ridiculous from the teddy bears to fly in naked to really being handcuffed for questioning when she had alibies as she was with her friends. It was all so Allison but next level. And finally they got married. Not happy because I really wanted Izzie to be at her wedding. I was hoping for intimate wedding. Not what I got. But still glad it happened. Not sure what to make of Drae. She is just ridiculous. Loved the story and all the silliness.
Man would be so easy to put spoilers in this. But I'm a nice guy at least on paper. This series and her dad series are just ridiculously good that's all there is to it! Between Alison, her mom and dad they could take over the planet!!! Good thing they're the good guys! Such a wonderful mix of fun, humor and mayhem with character and honor always! Thanks YodaMa!!
You know, I sometime thing that Authors should have a special kind of karma for all the nasty stuff they setup for the characters. Then again, we the readers will need to share the karma since we encourage the Authors to make up nasty stuff for the characters. So, perish that thought!
Miracles do happen, Mason finally talked Alison into taking two weeks off, and Shay threatens her to take the time away. Of course, things go a little bit twisted. Still a life of a Brownstone is never dull. A magical resort and bumping into old friends should be a wonderful time, but being accused of murder could dampen her spirits. A good read.
Brownstones never fail to deliver. I am continually impressed how new scenarios are thought of and presented. Every time I think they can't possibly have any new ideas they pop up with tales like this. I have always liked tales involving family looking after family and friends stepping up for friends and we have that and more in any Brownstone.
Alison needs a vacation. Mason, her fiance, seconds that. However, she is a Brownstone. Can she ever relax? I like the action, humor, and romance. Will she survive the reasons for her paranoia? I look forward to the next book.
Another gripping episode involving Allison,Mason,Lily and Luke. Can these four ever have a restful time without all the drama. Martha Carr scores again and brings it to a crazy ending. Loved it.
Good addition to the series. Allison just cannot catch a break. She cannot even have a vacation without trouble following her. LOL I can’t wait for the next book
Nice to see how far the Brownstones have come since their first book. Nice to catch up with some old friends as well. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
The trouble is, being a Brownstone, means that trouble will almost always find her.
So Shay persuades Alison to go on a Bounty Hunt with James, in order to start slowing down a little.
Of course, when you get two Brownstones together, it's almost impossible to actually have a truly relaxing time - but, as Alison was enjoying being with James, then she considered having to deal with creepy bugs, once again, a price worth paying, in order to have that time with him.
So, once the dust settles, Alison and Marcus go to a fancy Resort, built inside the New Hampshire Kemana, where they leave every piece of tech behind, including their phones, in order to truly relax.
Unfortunately, the Brownstone bad luck strikes again, and Alison finds herself accused of flying around naked then, to truly put the icing on the cake, she's also accused of murder!
Fortunately for Alison and Marcus, her best friend, Izzy, turns up at the Resort with Luke, their shifter friend, turned Politician.
What they go through together, in order to sort out what happens, finds them neck deep in shenanigans, that none of them would have dreamed of.
But Alison is really beginning to think that the warnings she'd had from the two friendly Drow Princesses, Rasila and Miar, about Drae, Princess of the Deepest Night, was just about to start, and she worries that the Drow was targeting her.
I really enjoyed this book, as is usual, thankfully, and there were definitely some true surprises there for me. With Alison having to learn to let go, at last, everything she went through seemed worth it in the end.
I really, really, enjoyed the ending, too!
Well as, once again, I've been reading through the night, I'm going to finish this review, then set up the next ebook in this series, on to my Kindle: Book 14: 'Drow Conqueror', in order to start reading it, once I've slept for a while.
Then, once I've read it, I'll catch you on the flip side, in order to let you know what I think of it!
I apologise if my reviews lack originality over this series - if I had the talent to write multiple variations of ways to say how much these stories entertain then I'd be an author, not a reader. Suffice to say these are light entertaining reads that bring a sparkle to my days.
Go on vacation they say, it’s relaxing they say… ha! Jokes on them, Alison Brownstone taking a relaxing vacation… ha! Mayhem, drunkenness, a diabolical clone, murder and a vacation, what a book! Bring on the next.
Finally she decided something for herself, getting married plane and simple. It took a lot of self esteem and confidence that it is ok to think of her happiness once
This was interesting but I disliked the whole vacation aspect, I wanted the suspense and drama. Mason is still such a boring character and I hate him so much.
