I was really looking forward to this boss-employee office romance, one of my preferred tropes that it is. Unfortunately this book under-delivered on multiple fronts. To begin with it was actually decent. In places, it is likeable and even enjoyable but as a full-length storyline it's much longer than it needs to be, unnecessarily overcomplicates itself with additional verbiage and the long-winded push and pull wears itself out like a hypnotised animal on the run. The beginning led with interest and I was pulled to see where the writer hoped to take it but the story loses itself the further one gets into it. The protagonists aren't quite enough to save the story unfortunately, and both are bothersome in different ways. They were the type of MCs that persistently acted, behaved and thought in ways that didn't sit well. It was uncomfortable and awkward. The outcome could have been something special but it was a predominantly flawed read with Under His Control. I've also long-since established that the manwhore hero/celibate heroine stereotype rarely works for me; it fails more often than it doesn't and the extremism is an imbalance too male-MC favoured. Both Addie and Logan weren't love interests that I wanted to root for. This is a book that requires quite a bit of editing, pulling, pushing, hoisting, buffing, stripping, pruning, refining, nipping and some tucking, and it could have arrived bearing some decent qualities. It is admittedly pockmarked with grammar inaccuracies but the story itself also needs more work.

I liked the first half of the book but as I kept reading my enjoyment started down falling. The story could had numbered less chapters and avoided the added drama. Adele’s indecisiveness and the push and pull concerning her relationship and interaction with Logan became tedious and frustrating.

Get an editor!
This book has so many mistakes it is difficult to read. I had trouble concentrating on the storyline due to the number of errors. Some of the mistakes could have been caught simply by putting this through a spell check. Who would publish a book without a least doing that! With the errors on almost every page, I could not give this a better rating.

Could've been better.
Sloppy writing and so many grammatical and spelling errors it became annoying and I started to make corrections.
The storyline could've been good but for the rambling narrative and the totally bizarre plot involving Baz and the irritating behaviour of Amelia.
Amelia's constant complaint of Logan's arrogance was risible compared with her own. She unashamedly declares how much she loves standing before an audience and lecturing them on behaviours when her own behaviour left much to be desired.
When Logan explains how he lost his wife Amelia's remedy is to drink wine in bed while watching Rue Paul's Drag Race. Very empathetic.
And the sex wasnt even that good.

Misleading tiltle
With a title like "Under His Control" and a follow-up caption "Enemies to Lovers", I expected a story with a very dominant and controlling man. I also expected some history that put the H and h at odds or, at minimum, a bad first encounter between them. Neither was the case.
Instead, we get an H who was actually very sweet and took care of the h at their first encounter (she was drunk). He has a reputation for being a womanizer (no interest in relationships or feelings, only mutual gratification) due to something in his past and he's never had trouble finding accommodating women because he's rich and handsome. But from the time he meets our virginal h, he has no interest in any other women, treats her with kindness and does his best to woo her. While there's a little hanky panky, he lets her set the pace, does nothing she's not comfortable with or not ready to do. Seems to me like she's the one in control, not him.
So lets take out the fact that the story is not what you're led to believe and what are we left with? A story about a wealthy, man-ho, afraid to love or let anyone in due to past trauma, until he meets the h who reminds him of the wife he loved and lost..(she's intelligent, caring, sweet & innocent but also brave and strong); and a virgin h who was the chubby outcast most of her life and, though she's no longer chubby, still thinks of herself that way. She's had a conservative upbringing and wants to save her v-card for love.
It could have been just a lovely romance of how these two tear each other walls down and fall in love. Instead, in an attempt to have the H live up to the title, the author tries to make him appear dominating on ocassion, but it was too little and too contrived and it just didn't work.
The h was just a little too wishy-washy when it came to giving up her V-card, and I thought that her relationship with her gay male BF was a liitle over the top. I get him trying to dress her a little more sexy (she was still dressing like the plus size girl she used to be), and the binge watching Ru Paul's drag race together while eating pints of ice cream to get over some minor trauma or set back that one of them sufferred....that's what BF's do. But who sleeps while cuddling with their BF (male or female) every night? And... She still wants to do so the night after finally giving up her v-card to the H? They take turns sleeping with her....That was just a little too much and too odd for me. It was almost as if the author wanted to make this a menage a trois except that she made one male strictly gay and the other strictly straight so she couldn't.
And towards the end the author throws in a villain ... a former college buddy and business associate of the H (who provided start-up funding for the H's businesss), and who's apparently turned mafioso, human trafficker & serial killer (I kid you not!) and threatens the h's life in order to get what he wants from the H. Won't even go there.
There were some good parts and aside from a very few gramatical errors or misplaced words, it wasn't a bad read....just a little all over the place. It did hold my intetest for the most part so...3 1/2 stars.

Wow ... Das war wohl eins der schlimmsten Bücher durch die ich mich je gequält habe und schon in den ersten 30 Seiten habe ich darüber nachgedacht es abzubrechen 😫 ich kann einfach nichts positives finden das ich hier herausstellen kann es war alles in allem einfach traurig 😅

This started out so good. But I really didn’t like Addy’s character. It become annoying her back and forth. Plus the story line was so over done with too much going on. It needed a strong edit. This was a DNF for me. I stopped about 70% through the book. It had so much potential this just went sideways fast.

No enemy to lover story here
"Addy Macfaddy," there was no lead in and no back story when Charles greeted his best straight girlfriend. Later on Charles tells Logan Adele was fat. I guess that was the answer I was looking for. At the end of this story I was confused. I didn't understand why Adele joined the public speaking circa to discuss what? Her boyfriend? Husband? Meh! When I saw the 91% Read, compared it to the number of chapters left and epilogue, I knew it would leave more questions than answered. What happens exactly? The author is busy writing; someone says something to author BOOM! The last three chapters are wam bam thank you mam rush job desperately trying to concoct a future between hero and heroine. Anyhow, I don't like when it misses the mark.

DNF This book is causing me pain. As a real-life anthropology major I can say with confidence every time Adele did or thought anything about anthropology she was wrong. Her “study” is completely unethical and very likely illegal!!! The major things wrong included a lack of an objective topic for here thesis (it was about her experience with a womanizer), the lack of clear consent for putting someone in a scathing study, and a lot of her information was her assuming things instead of observing or learning them. All of that is taught the first day of anthropology 101. About halfway through the book the story line get choppy and odd with random dramatic bits. Also Logan’s response to his dead wife is creepy and cold. Comparing a guy he doesn’t like to the murderer who killed his wife is not a normal comparison. There’s also a disturbing expectation for heteronormative lifestyles. The main character shamed her gay best friend for not dating seriously (with the goal of marriage.) You are in your early 20s! That should not be a priority. This book is backwards and upside down.
I loved the book until it got messy. I might try another from this author if she’s covering topics she has knowledge about.

Under His Control started off strong and up until around 50% I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, after that there is just too much going on after that. The plot jumps around and as many of the reviews state, the book comes across unedited.
Adele meets a handsome stranger on a drunken night out. They share a passionate kiss before she bolts. She is shocked when she finds out the handsome stranger is no other than her new boss for her summer internship, Logan Steele. Adele is torn between pretending nothing happened and wanting to quit, but Logan only wants one thing: Her.
Like I said, the book started promising BUT I had several issues with it besides the raw writing. The virgin probe is so, so overdone. I know there are adult virgins out there, but the way authors write about these beautiful women who have never been touched is ridiculous. There is nothing wrong with a sexually confident heroine. Besides that there is just a lot going on with the scheming ex who is also a murderer (?!) and the whole Raz situation.
My biggest question is: How is this supposed to be enemies to lovers? The title is misleading and that's my biggest disappointment with this.

El libro es genial, lo leí en apenas tres días atareados así que cualquier momento libre lo aprovechaba para seguirlo.
Se hace bastante ligero al inicio, por lo que no cuesta empezarlo y rápidamente te engancha a la historia.
Solo encuentro que a veces hay comentarios que no son los mejores o alguna situación que viene de la nada y queda como pegada, pero en general está bien.

2/3 into the book is where it fell short for me with the plot. It went from plausible/believable plot line about human sociology and apps/tech to a mafia-like theme and slightly more dark. It's as if the book was trying to add a different element but in the wrong place.
Character development for H was good despite the dramatic changes that appeared to be paced too quickly to be believable. It may have helped his character development if H had a good supporting character e.g. sister, friends, business partner, etc.
I read for either erotic escapism or for those soul stealing romance plots that leaves you with a book hangover.
This was neither for me. It did lean more towards a sexy read but really only contained a handful of that at best. While I did finish the book, it wasn't a memorable one.

Where to begin? This book was hard to read. It felt like the writer’s first book because the storyline was choppy, stereotypical, and at times just didn’t make sense. The ratings for this book was misleading. The main female character was naive. The writer wanted the female character to be tough and innocent but it never felt balanced. The main male character had a dramatic experience but yet you still couldn’t relate to him because none of the story felt authentic. Parts of the book made you think no straight man would say that. The gay costar was extremely cookie cutter. It was like the writer put a bunch of random twists in the book without much lead up/suspense. It was terrible. I’m sorry to say but it is not a four star book. It is barely three stars.

Proof-read at all?
Ok, normally when I leave a review, it's to praise a book.
While the storyline was good--the banter had me chuckling throughout, the spelling & grammatical errors detracted so much from the book, that at times it was hard to decifer exactly the verbal the author intended.
This is NOT a good thing. I was so put off by it, I decided I singly HAD to finish the book & give a totally honest review.
So, if you can stomach all the mistakes throughout, you'll enjoy it.
With a bit more perfectionism from the author/proofreader/publisher this COULD have been a 5-star review.

Adele might be the most irritating heroine ever. She was so judgmental about almost everything. She didn’t start off that bad, but it seems like she got worse as the book went on. And I’m still trying to figure out how a person who had never been a serious relationship was traveling, giving lectures on overcoming toxic relationships. It makes no sense. She was too old to be as naive as she was. More often than not, it seemed like she was actually repulsed by Logan. She didn’t wanna talk to him or be around him, but she loved him? Again, it makes no sense to me. This book was way too long to be as anticlimactic as it was.

Let me just get this out of the way first--I gave this 3 stars because whomever did the proofreading before publishing should be fired. I was amazed at all the errors I came across so it became a game to find every single one. Sometimes I really struggled to "get" what was trying to said. UGH.
Aside from that, a good book.
Adele the virgin comes across Logan the alpha male who gets all the girls and of course wants this one.
I have to give Adele props for staying true to herself and her beliefs because Logan surely didn't make it easy for her! Their love story was sweet. Both grew as characters throughout the book. Mostly Logan learning to let someone "in" and how if he wanted someone perhaps he should put them first.
I really liked Logan's backstory--tragic as it was--because once we knew what had happened we understood where he was coming from.
I was not prepared for the big twist towards the end though and I literally screamed out "you mother f*cker" at Logan--I could not believe what he was doing to Adele and she completely shut down at the realization of what was happening! She told Logan she didn't feel right--something was off about the event and then when she saw Baz she knew things weren't going to end well. And then all of a sudden Logan is talking to Baz in terms of "selling" Adele to him in exchange for his termination over the business. I was absolutely sickened at what was going down. That Logan would get Adele's V card and then do this?! WHAT?!
Thank god it was all a sting to get Baz to confess to the horrific things he'd done in the past--Logan had been working with law enforcement to arrest Baz once and for all. But that came at a very high price.
Adele high tailed it back to Ohio and dove back into her last semester and graduation. Months and months later on a whim she answered one of his calls...she loved him but just couldn't understand why he didn't tell her what was going on so she'd be prepared. Logan said she was a terrible liar and Baz would see it and foil the plan...damn...he could have at least said something like--whatever happens please just trust me that its going to be ok.
So they reconnect finally no longer being able to deny their feelings for each other. And live happily ever after!

Not sure about this one!
I just can't really wrap my head around my feelings on this book. I found the characters odd to start with, Adele just felt boring but at the same time actually a bit manipulative. I get she didn't want to give up her V card to anyone and that's fair but to basically throw it in Logan's face the night after by sleeping in bed with Charles was just weird. I also didn't understand the college lecture stuff.. there is no way anyone would pay to listen to someone still studying and no real practical experience except one encounter! I did not like Charles at all... if my best friend had the nerve to say i was fat he would have got a sharp kick in the balls. I actually liked Logan and he felt more a more rounded character than the others, I understood his behaviour to an extent and the pain he went through. I felt the story went on a bit throughout but the end was rushed and skipped forward straight away. I don't know if it was an error but if I read someone saying yah instead of yeah one more time I would have blown my top.. if it wasn't an error then it was a stupid use of the word nobody says yah! The part with Baz seemed to be the only excitement really in the whole thing and even that was boring and over quickly. Having said all this I did want to read it to the end and find out what happened so it must have kept my interest somewhere. I just can't really wrap my head around my feelings on this book. I found the characters odd to start with, Adele just felt boring but at the same time actually a bit manipulative. I get she didn't want to give up her V card to anyone and that's fair but to basically throw it in Logan's face the night after by sleeping in bed with Charles was just weird. I also didn't understand the college lecture stuff.. there is no way anyone would pay to listen to someone still studying and no real practical experience except one encounter! I did not like Charles at all... if my best friend had the nerve to say i was fat he would have got a sharp kick in the balls. I actually liked Logan and he felt more a more rounded character than the others, I understood his behaviour to an extent and the pain he went through. I felt the story went on a bit throughout but the end was rushed and skipped forward straight away. I don't know if it was an error but if I read someone saying yah instead of yeah one more time I would have blown my top.. if it wasn't an error then it was a stupid use of the word nobody says yah! The part with Baz seemed to be the only excitement really in the whole thing and even that was boring and over quickly. Having said all this I did want to read it to the end and find out what happened so it must have kept my interest somewhere. I don't typically like the domineering, power tripping men type of read. Mia Faye did a pretty well job at evening out Logan's characteristics to make him seem like he needs to be in charge but really, he's just a big softy. Adele, on the other hand, was rather obnoxious with her indecisiveness. She wants Logan but she doesn't want him to touch her but she flaunts and flirts around. Honestly, what do you expect a man to do.
Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed the first half of the book. It was fun, flirty, and even raunchy. It took a bit of a downward turn when Baz entered the picture. It was just an odd change of events from where the book was heading. I wasn't really digging that side of the story. It seemed almost thought of last minute. More particularly, I was really annoyed with Adele's reaction to how the events played out at the party. It was quite obvious Logan was just revving Baz up for information. Logan made it clear he loved Adele and wouldn't let anything happen to her. Sure, being in that position where your life is being handed away could make anyone freak. But it was Logan.
From there, the story just kept going downhill. The ending was a bit rushed. On the upside, Charles was my favorite character. You could just picture his flamboyance and everything about him was perfectly done.

Two beautiful people from two totally different backgrounds , him, self assured into now the world evolves into relationships and sexual satisfaction and her a naive beautiful orphan, who is intelligent, smart. But in the world of love and seduction, she lacks knowledge completely, but when she meets Logan who knows all about these things. She learns them very quickly. But there's a darker side to Logan, which Adele finds out all too late as she has fallen in love with this handsome man. But when Adele's life is threatened by an old so called friend who wants Adele as his sex slave, being offered to him by !ogan, she w and crimes. Adele fled back to Ohio to resume her studies and finally graduated and write her theory on hedonism.. Not knowing that it was a sting to catch this guy after his life of murder

Torn
I’m torn about writing this review. I really liked the story in the beginning and then more items kept getting added that just were so unbelievable, it ruined the story for me.
Our h is a virgin but both her best friend and the H pressure her over and over to have sex, even after she has explained that she doesn’t want meaningless sex. She wants a love. Both the H and BFF disregarded the h’s feelings and thoughts many times. Then the inexperienced h becomes too bratty. I began to really dislike her. The criminal element that was added was just too much and too unbelievable. Also, I didn’t believe that an undergraduate who writes a thesis partially based on relationships would be invited on an academic lecture tour. How can she be an expert on relationships and narcissists when she had only been in a short relationship with one man? By the end of the book I was just annoyed by all the unbelievable aspects that I didn’t even care what happened to any of them.

Heartstrings
My gosh! This book pulled on all my heartstrings. Adele, a beautiful yet insecure young woman. She’s innocent in every sense of the word. She moves to San Fran for a summer internship with her best friend since childhood Charles whom is determined to get her friend laid by the end of the summer. She’s you, naive, and innocent in a new city.. she stumbles upon Logan whom will be the love of her life; however, Logan is anything but innocent, he’s bedded way too many woman to count but when he comes across Adele, he’s a goner. Both have been through dark unhappy things, can their love survive a major betrayal or can they somehow find a way to repair one another’s broken heart. This book had me in my feels.

Das erste Buch was ich 2020 abgebrochen habe, und zwar bei etwa 40% als das Lavendel Hafer Bad anfing.
Ich hatte aber schon davor mit dem Buch zu kämpfen denn ich konnte keinerlei Sympathie mit den Protas aufbauen. Sie Adele ging mir mit ihrer Art schon nach wenigen Seiten auf die Nerven, nicht nur das sie vom hässliche Entlein zum stolzen Schwan wurde, nein sie weiß es natürlich nicht und das sie einen supertollen Hammer Körper hat ,und er Mr Dominat der nur noch ein Ziel kennt sie zu erobern wiederholte seine Vorgehensweise andauernd, das und diese merkwürdige immer wiederkehrende Lücken/Absätze, ja ich weiß dafür kann die Autorin nichts , stört aber trotzdem MEIN Lesefluss. Irgendwann war ich es eben leid und habe das Buch abgebrochen und daher keine Kauf und keine Leseempfehlung.

This was just trash. If I hadn't been participating in a challenge I'd never have finished this book.
1) And I don't recall who had the book cover first but there is a M&B book cover with a VERY similar cover, same model same stance slight change in background which just confused me and put me off to begin with to be honest.

Hard to finish
Overall, this book was pretty good. Normally, I don't write reviews, but I was very frustrated with the h in this book. It seemed any issue that popped up in the relationship was blamed on the H. He had plenty of growing to do for sure, but the h had just as much she needed to work on, but that was never actualized. If this wasn't a romance, I would almost think it was written by someone who hated men. I have never started a book I didn't finish, but when the h went back to Ohio, I wanted to put it down in disgust and not finish it. Personally, for a really great book, I am looking for balance in the MMC/FMC, and unfortunately, I didn't really feel like this offered that.

This book by Mia Faye features the story of Adele, who just moved to San Francisco for a summer internship, and Logan Steel, billionaire CEO of a media company. Logan and Adele meet at a party after she drinks too much and Logan takes her to his home when she passes out to keep her safe. Adele wakes up in the bed of a stranger who she finds out the next day is her new boss, Logan Steel. This novel has believable characters who have experienced loss and hurt during their lives, and has a plot with some suspense and it's of steamy romance.

Good but weird book for me.
I enjoyed this book but it was a little out there in the left field at times for me. Charles seem to be a good friend to Adele. But them sleeping in the bed together and some of the things he said was crazy. I think he is a diva on the real side. Adele seem to be a goodie two shoes and should have just saved herself until she found someone else. But she was still a good character. Now Logan was a male hoe to began with. I think Adele was to good for him and should have just let him be and walked away because what he did to her was so wrong on so many levels. But if you read this book it has a way of growing on you.

I really liked this book a lot. Logan was a super yummy character. He’s a billionaire who plays the field has no time for love until he meets his new intern. When she learns he’s bedded every intern she has what she thought she felt was now turned to anger. But he shows her sides hasn’t shown anyone in a long time but is it enough to change her mind? I loved her Adele was just such a strong character not taking any of his shit. But I loved how he respected her even more for that. The story was great I loved her best friend Charles everyone should have such a loyal loving friend. Great story great read I couldn’t put it down
